They also have plenty of parking in the back, which makes visiting easy. Our go-to order is the chicken teriyaki bowls -- the portions are huge and will definitely leave you full. They also offer happy hour. The menu options during happy hour are somewhat limited, but there are still enough choices to enjoy. Overall, this place stays pretty busy for a reason. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice, and the location is convenient. My only complaint is that they could definitely use more seating. We'll definitely keep coming back! read more

It's a solid 4 stars. Angry Fish is a small restaurant with just a few tables. Instead of printed menus, they hand out tablets displaying their vast selection. You still place orders with the waiter -- the traditional way, not on a tablet. We got a sushi boat + otoro + tempura. All were delicious. read more

Wow, I am incredibly disappointed. This was hands down the worst sushi I've ever had. The sushi rice was extremely sweet, almost like sugar had been added to it. When I mentioned it, the manager told me that all of their sushi is made that way and that I should have specifically asked for "regular rice." I'm sorry, but in 45 years of eating sushi, I have never once had to ask for non-sweet sushi rice. The sweetness mixed with the soy sauce created a strange sweet-and-salty flavor that completely ruined the sushi for me. The fish was also mushy and tasted far from fresh. It was so bad that I literally spit it out. I couldn't finish it. When I expressed my concerns, the manager refused to do anything and told me I would receive no discount or accommodation whatsoever. Instead, I was told that next time I should ask for regular rice. There won't be a next time. They got my $30, but they lost a customer for life. Between the overly sweet rice, mushy fish, and complete lack of customer service, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. Shame on management for refusing to make things right. Also should know that they have a sign up on the wall that says if you give us a good review, you'll get a free slice of cheesecake or ice cream on us. I bet you that 90% of these were good reviews on here or for a free dessert because there is no way that the people love their food like as much as they say they did this shit was gross. read more

Angry Sushi is such a great little spot in San Leandro. The restaurant is small but feels really cozy and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. There's also a small parking lot in the back as and plenty of street parking when we visited so parking was super easy. We ordered a handful of items that I don't remember but mostly from their Angry Special dishes and everything was really good! Super fresh, well-balanced flavors, and nicely presented. We happened to dine during happy hour and was able to enjoy dishes front heir HH menu. It also included also included 1.50 oysters. I thought I left a review already as I've been here twice! It's been a while since I was last here so I can't give too many details atm but basically super unassuming yet very delicious. It is not terribly priced but it is on the pricier side. I will say when I came with my family (8 people) the server was AMAZING. It was all our first time so we had a lot of questions and asks of him but he was very patient and understanding. I came again with some friends and we came closer to closing so we actually saw them cleaning their prep station which was kinda nice in terms of a cleanliness concern for raw fish. This was my second visit to Angry Fish and I finally understand why my friends and coworkers rave about it. My first time here was for lunch and I ordered one of their bentos. It was delicious, but what really stood out was the portion of miso soup. It was the largest serving I've ever had at a Japanese restaurant and honestly a lifesaver if you are ever hungover. My second visit was for dinner during happy hour, which runs from 4 to 7. From the happy hour menu we tried the Japanese tacos and they were amazing. It's spicy tuna on some sort of leaf that's deep fried in a tempura batter and I would definitely recommend ordering them. We also had the Aji tuna, which comes stacked like a mini poke bowl with layers of sushi rice, crab salad, spicy tuna, and sauce. Really tasty. For my entrée I ordered the Unagi don. It came with miso soup and a side salad with that roasted sesame Kewpie dressing that's always so good. The unagi was served over rice with yellow pickled radish. It was flavorful and not overly sweet like some places make it, though I did notice a few small bones. Our server was Michael and he was genuinely one of the best servers I've had in a while. He checked on us often and the rest of the staff was great about refilling waters and helping out. Service like that is rare these days. The restaurant was packed for dinner and I can see why. I do wish it had potatoes and/or carrots but the chicken katsu was super crispy and juicy and paired perfectly with the curry. Also got the Lion King roll and it was saucy with a generous amount of imitation crab. The staff here are super nice and even treated us to free green tea ice cream to wrap up our meal. We came to Angry Fish only because the sushi place we wanted to go to in Castro Valley was closed, and we found AF on Yelp, so it was serendipity that we found this gem of a place. The staff here is super attentive and nice. The menu is quite extensive, with long list of appetizers, specials, bento combos, rolls, nigiris, and even noodles. I noticed that the menu includes high priced omakase options, so the place caters to all budget ranges. We took some time to look through the digital menu on tablets they gave us, before ordering takoyakis, unagi don, chirashi bowl, and two special rolls. Everything was delicious, with generous thick cuts of fish, very well seasoned sushi rice. Portions were very good for the prices. There was a long line of people waiting for tables by the time we were half way through our lunch. This attested to the popularity of the place.
