This spot has delicious Indian comfort food with a variety of options including healthy vegan options. The portions are really big and hearty as well. The chef was super nice and even allowed us to try a few samples before purchase. There's a small table for sit down meal but seems like many people order take out. The food comes out hot and fresh and quickly. The cabbage masala was delicious and had a yummy savory tomato flavor. It was quite spicy for me but tolerable and doesn't take away from the yummy flavor. Parking is very easy to find in the lot. No public restroom available.

What a hidden gem, hiding under my nose for almost a year before I realized what wonders were awaiting within! :) AniKri is a small family owned and operated Indian takeout restaurant, with wonderful Mrs. Sangeetha at the helm creating fresh authentic South Indian recipes each day! From Butter Chicken (both my kids love it), to Lamb Korma (I really enjoyed this one, bone-in, but that's where the flavor and tenderness hides), along with many vegetarian dishes as well - their cauliflower and peas masala was so tasty and flavorful! If you haven't been here yet then you really owe it to yourself to stop in. Even more so if you're new to Indian cuisine as this is the perfect family friendly environment to test the waters in. When my brought my son in the last time they were more than happy to let him try samples of everything they were offering that day to help him select what he liked the most. It may have created a monster though, as he woke up and had the remaining Butter Chicken for breakfast before school. ;) We will certainly be returning, and I hope to see you there as well. :)

I'm so glad I found this spot during my annual trip OC! They serve some of the best Indian food with a focused menu that rotates every day, giving you reason to come back over and over to try everything that they offer. Not sure what you want? Chef Sangeetha makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the store, offering samples to any new face that walks in or anyone who seems unsure of what they'd like to order. It's clear that she has a lot of pride in what she puts out. All recipes are her own/are passed down from her family and the taste & quality speaks for itself. On my first visit, my partner and I dined in for lunch on a Sunday and got two lunch plates; the food was so good that we were tempted to take an a-la-carte order of curry to-go even though I had planned an extensive food list for the rest of my trip. While I managed to hold off the first time, we actually came back a few days later craving some more Butter Chicken which rotated back onto the menu later in the week on Friday LOL. When we came in on Friday around 4:00 PM we saw a tent and seats setup outside the store front. Curious, we asked Chef Sangeetha if there had just been a catering event or a party that happened. That's when we learned that they sometimes host live cooking events of Friday nights from 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM where a chef will cook a rotating dish to-order right in front of you. That night, they were hosting an event and serving Kothu Parotta with veg/egg/chicken options, something I or my partner had never seen or heard of before but our interest was piqued. We decided to leave and came back around 6:00 PM for the live event and are so glad we made that decision. The Chicken Kothu Parotta was unlike any other Indian dish we had had before. It had addictive texture, almost risotto like, along with a strong fragrance and burst of flavors from the smoky wok hei, freshness from herbs, spices, raw onions, & tomatoes, and bright raita. All the flavors danced together in harmony. I encourage everyone to stop by and support this small business, especially during their live event nights. Follow their IG to see when these are happening and what the featured dish of the evening is. If you attend, come early before the line forms. Since each dish is cooked live and made to order it can get quite busy once the aunties and uncles come around, which we started to see around 6:30 PM. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in OC!

Tried this place for the first time after seeing it on Facebook and yelp of course. It did not disappoint. Service was great. So polite and friendly. Nice, clean spot. I ordered the butter chicken and shrimp masala. Did the plate that came with rice as well. So much food I couldn't finish it but it was delicious. Yes the menu changes with the specials each day so I'll be back to try something new next time.

They mentioned they change the menu, my plate had chicken.

A social media post came up in my feed about it, so I thought I'd try it out. Everything was delicious with great flavor, and the rice was cooked perfectly. The Naan was just the right amount of chew without being dry. For a fast Indian meal, you can't ask for more.

South Indian here and I have to say -- Anikri Foods in Cypress (LB-adjacent) is the real deal for very traditional regional South Indian cuisine. It's very different than north Indian and what you'll find at any of the restaurants in Long Beach. Please show Anikri Foods some love -- support a local, woman-owned, immigrant-owned small business serving up the most delicious traditional South Indian food I've tasted in SoCal. But the food is just part of what makes this place special- Today, I brought my four kids in for lunch and had the complete pleasure of meeting the owner and chef, Sangeetha. Sangeetha radiates warmth and strength, and since I'm nosy and don't meet other South Indians often we became quick friends. Once I heard her story, I couldn't stop thinking about it, I knew I had to share it. Sangeetha, is a shining example of resilience and heart -- a single mom, widow, and South Indian woman who is truly living the American dream through sheer grit, talent, and love. She was once a brilliant biochemist, living what she described as "a golden life" here in the U.S. with her husband and two sons. But 8 years ago, her husband was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. For 5 years she juggled full-time work, caretaking, and parenting. Three years ago, he passed away -- and she found herself alone in a foreign country with two children to raise. Returning to India wasn't an option -- the life of a widow there would have been unbearable. So she stayed. After one particularly hard day at work, missing her husband and kids, she had a moment of clarity: she would pour her grief, strength, and love into her side hustle -- cooking for her local community. She quit her job and went all in on her dream. Here's what we tried: Goat Curry - My personal favorite. Deeply flavorful, tender meat that melts in your mouth. Shrimp Masala - My 5-year-old couldn't stop eating this! It's spicy, tangy, and packed with curry leaf goodness. Butter Chicken - Unlike the creamy versions you might expect, this is the real South Indian-style dish: warm spices like star anise and cloves, with a nostalgic depth that took me right back to Tamil Nadu summers as a kid. She sells batters and chutneys to go and are ready for pickip- dosas batter, idli batter, sambar, tomato, mint/cilantro chutney, coconut chutney -- all of it was perfection. I picked up an assortment and had dinner covered for our family of 6 the next day. The kids were asking for seconds and thirds. COOL FACT: There is no Menu! The food changes daily and is fresh! And they host 1-2 times a month a dosa stand out front made to order You'll leave with a full belly and a full heart.

Can understand why there are so many reviews of empty bowls on this page. They do the menu every day and today I had channa masala. I am not vegetarian. Also licked my plate clean. Best replacement for a hot soup, for it was filled with hot spices, and still only mild as advertised. Please go out of your way to support this new restaurant and lovely staff

Little India is usually closed on Mondays so I looked on Yelp, and this was the closest place suggested to the pad. I wasn't disappointed at all. The masala dosa was crispy, the chutneys were fire, and the sambar was hearty. (Today I only came for those, but I'll come another day to try their North Indian food.) Between the great food, the marigold garlands, beautiful mural wallpaper, and the absolutely unreasonable amount of south Asian eye candy --including the handsome bespectacled waiter who looked a little bit like Ranbir IYKYK (I was having trouble ordering, he was so cute,) the cricket hotties in sunglasses on the cricket broadcast, and the absolute smokeshow picking up his order at the counter, I will definitely be back. I felt like at this point in time the restaurant was basically flirting with me. I also wish I had taken more pictures of this cute restaurant, but I was too busy being a creeper. I ended my delicious meal with piping hot chai and also equally warm, fresh gulab jamun and accidentally created a dessert science experiment by pouring warm gulab jamun syrup into the chai to sweeten it, and it was the best decision ever. Good restaurant for everyone, but for South Asians, it's a comforting diaspora space where you actually want to linger for a while instead of just eating and rushing out.

There are usually some parking spots available, however, the spots are VERY narrow. They serve authentic North and South Indian cuisine and are known for their lunch buffet, but I came for dinner where they serve their a la carte menu. For appetizers, we got the Vegetable Pakoda made with gram flour, vegetables, spinach with Indian spices, It comes with two sauces for dipping. For the main dishes, we got the Butter Chicken which was so good! The chicken thigh was tender, and the cashew and tomato sauce was so savory and flavorful. It's served with a small portion or basmati rice. We also got the Palak Paneer which has spinach, Indian cheese seasoned with jeera, garlic, and Indian spices. It's also served with a small portion of basmati rice. Of course we needed some Garlic Naan for dipping into both! I also wanted to try the Aloo Paratha since I've never had mashed potatoes in paratha before! It comes with a white sauce for dipping. They have a variety of dosas, including their Paper Dosa. It was a massive 3 feet long! It's very thin, so it ends up being quite crispy. It's served with sambar and some different chutneys, including coconut, peanut, and tomato. The peanut was my favorite, and the tomato was good as well, however, it was a bit spicy. We also got a Paneer Bhurji Dosa. This dosa was unique in that it's filled with scrambled paneer, onions, tomatoes, and Indian spices. It reminded me a bit of a breakfast wrap. Not bad, but it does gets a bit soggy over time. I prefer the Paper Dosa! Service was friendly!

We made sure to ask for mild spices (heat) since traditional Indian dishes can be real spicy! I ordered Chicken Ticka Massla and a vegetable dish while my wife ordered a potato stuffed bread. I'll start with the positives -- the samosas were actually really good. Great flavor, crispy texture, and the sauces they came with were excellent. Service was also great, and our server was very friendly and attentive. Now for the disappointing part. The garlic naan was super doughy and almost cake-like, which was not enjoyable at all. The butter chicken was overwhelmingly sweet to the point where it honestly tasted more like dessert than curry. The tikka masala was better, but it seriously lacked salt and flavor depth. The saag aloo was creamy, but overall pretty bland and forgettable. The biggest disappointment was the amount of chicken in both dishes. We were left with bowls full of sauce and barely any meat. It honestly felt like we paid for soup with a few pieces of chicken thrown in. We left feeling pretty ripped off, especially for the price. Maybe it was just an off night since they were busy, but based on this experience, we won't be coming back.

This was such a great spontaneous discovery. They have a small parking lot in the front where we parked, but then we saw later on that they also have additional parking in the back if you don' see spots in the front. Upon entering the staff was welcoming. The gave us a few tables to choose from that were cleaned and appropriate for 2 people. I just want to say service was impeccable our whole time there. Everyone on their team took turns checking on us, making sure our waters were refilled, and that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. So nice!! As we explored the menu, we saw the combination dinners that allowed us to get more variety, which we love. We both picked a different combo so we could share and try more things. My boyfriend enjoys tandoori so he went with the Mix Tandoori Grill ($26.95) that comes with an assortment of Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tikka, Fish Tikka served in a sizzling platter on a bed of onions with naan, rice, and gulab jamun. So much food! I picked the India Special ($24.95) which comes with chicken tikka, the choice of lamb or chicken curry which I opted for the chicken, veg, korma, raita, rice, naan, and gulab jamun. What a FEAST!! For the naan I asked for the garlic naan and it was INCREDIBLE. Wow! Might be THEE best Indian food I have ever enjoyed. Between the two of our orders I felt like I had the variety I have when I go eat at Indian buffets. My boyfriend loved the tandooris platter. All of the proteins were cooked perfectly. I assume they were prepped separately to get to the right cooking temp. So funny because my boyfriend was eating the rice while I was indulging in the naan. Dipping the naan in the curry and the korma. Nom Nom Nom! So fun and so delicious. My boyfriend was even saying this is one of the best meals he had in a while. I was so full when the gulab jamun dessert came out at the end but it was so delicious I still ate all of it. Without a doubt the best execution of this dessert I have ever had. We will definitely be back when we find ourselves craving Indian food.

We ordered the Vegetarian & Meat Samosas. 5/5 Really Tasty The garlic & butter naan was also very good. 5/5 The Tikka Masala & Butter Chicken were great too. 5/5 When you order a plate they give you family style rice. You can always ask for more rice. The service was great too. I will definitely return and try other menu options.

I love Yemeni food and this place promises flavorful and huge portions of just that ! House of…read moreMandi upholds their name with a cozy, traditional ambience due to their sofa-style seats. For two, we ordered the "individual portions" of Mandi Chicken (young chicken roasted with Yemeni spices) & Lalamb Haneeth (a roasted young lamb that falls off the bone). These were both served over a large platter of Mandi rice and came with Yemeni sauce and yogurt. It was expertly made, yet still gave us the warmth of a homestyle meal. The generous portions resulted in a second meal for me! On a Tuesday night, this place was quite packed with friends and families. It seems like wonderful place to host parties or business meetings. Someone nearby us had a birthday, and a group of staff came out with a dessert, blasting a traditional birthday song over the speakers and encouraged the whole restaurant to clap along! Despite the large gatherings, the restaurant is a no-reservation spot. They have a covered patio outside to seat an overflow of customers in case. Thankfully, my boyfriend and I were seated right away. They had a contactless menu, and we scanned a QR code to check our food options, but a server took our order and offered great recommendations once we waved him down. I would love to come back and try other dishes, like their grilled chicken or lamb--as well as the desserts and teas !!

Despite a crowd on a Sunday afternoon, service was impressively fast. Big thanks to our server, Maha--she was fantastic. Be sure to make reservations if you're in a big group, and just a heads-up--they do charge for water bottles. Can't wait to come back! Also, lamb soup is on the house and highly recommend taking it if they are offering it.
