Taibat is a place you truly want to come back again. We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. We had our Iftar here and there was 10 of our friends. From the moment you walk in, there's a special atmosphere -- cozy and beautiful. Everything feels very balanced and welcoming. The food was absolutely incredible -- honestly, everything we tried was delicious. You can tell the dishes are made with care and good-quality ingredients. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and sometimes surprisingly unique in the best way. Every dish made us want to finish every last bite. The presentation also deserves special mention -- everything looked beautiful and very appetizing. It's clear the team pays attention not only to taste but also to how the food is served, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. We were delighted to find this Chinese Islamic or Uyghur place, and had an excellent experience. If you are interested in trying out something slightly adventurous or if you love lamb, this is the place to go. We dined in and brought a couple of items to go, and everything was delicious. What we enjoyed the most was the Lamb clay pot with pickled Napa cabbage, that used to our family's favorite but fewer and fewer place serves them in LA, we are happy to find them, and it was excellent. Tip: We asked them why they don't serve the soup with rice noodles like others, they said they could do to us (by request), they don't do it because the soup gets sucked dry quickly. Located in a small shopping center with free parking and spots located in front of the restaurant, this is a great place for dine-in as well as take-out. We ordered the flat noodles with lamb which is one of their specialty dishes, honey walnut shrimp, beef with green onion, eggplant with basil ($15.99), beef pot stickers, and steamed white rice (served in individual rice bowls). Everything was good, my favorite was the honey walnut shrimp for it's distinctive batter and plump shrimp. There were free wonton strips/chips and dates provided prior to our meal, great way to prepare your stomach and taste buds for the tasty flavors of Taibat. It's the month of Ramadan and during iftar time there is only one lady running around everywhere. There is no one at the register and she is struggling by herself. There is one man probably the Manager or the standing right in front of the entrance of the kitchen doing nothing. The server didn't even ask for the drink. Just horrible service. I had friends coming to join me so I ordered some chive pancakes to start off so when they came, you'll be ready. They came in and took our order right away. Great Halal Chinese food with lots of Uyghur dishes like laghman and cumin lamb! We ordered the chow mein and green beans for kiddos (so kid friendly!) and the hot pepper beef, shrimp fried rice, general tso chicken, and hot pepper beef. Everything tasted so authentic and fresh but our favorites were the general tso chicken and shrimp fried rice. The general tso was so crispy and paired with such a good hot and spicy sauce. The fried rice was packed with egg and vegetables with such plump and large shrimp! Th laghman hand pulled noodles were such a nice texture and the broth made it such a comforting dish. The pepper beef was spicy but now too spicy at all, more so flavored with the bell peppers which gives it a unique flavor. The fact that it's fully halal and has a prayer area in a separate clean room is such a plus too. read more

We tried this place on the recommendation of a family friend and it did not disappoint. The quantity received for prices was perfect. The wait time was average and the customer service was normal. The only thing I would say I did not like was the shrimp. It had a strong smell to it which made it harder to swallow for me. Both the beef and chicken dishes ordered had a good flavor to them and were cooked amd bought out at the right temperature. Uyghur cuisine is from China but it's closer to Central Asian dishes than it is to various Chinese cuisines. This place changed its name but the chef is still Omar who is gifted. Omar's Kitchen is one of the few Uyghur restaurants in L.A. It is the ethnic Muslims from the northwest province of China and more characteristic to Turkey. The food is halah and is a cross between Turkish and Chinese cuisine. Lamb is a staple protein of Uyghur cuisine. We had the traditional Laghman which is their hand pulled noodles with stir fried lamb & vegetables which was absolutely delicious. Their cumin lamb has a slightly different flavor profile that you would normally have at a Sichuan restaurant, but equally good. We also had more traditional Chinese dishes like salt and pepper fish and shrimp with vegetable, but also cooked and served with a little bit of a twist from the Turkish influence. All their dishes overall were very good and tasty. Service which were essentially the owners was good. Prices are reasonable. The ambience and decorations around the restaurant were colorful and informative of the Uyghur culture. For those that enjoy Chinese food, Omar's Kitchen should definitely be on your restaurant list! read more

We ordered the Hand Pulled Noodles, the Sweet and Sour Soup, and the General Tso 's Chicken. The small sweet and sour soup is enough for about 4 people and is filled with flavor and slightly spicy. Had dinner with my dad here and was impressed! Highly recommend the lamb kebob's with the cumin and chili seasoning. It has a nice smokiness that compliments the tender texture. I had driven by the sign for Omar's Kitchen so many times on the way to/from 99 Ranch to buy groceries, so decided to finally check it out for dinner when my mom was visiting. It's not hard to find parking in the plaza's lot. The interior is beautifully decorated with lots of Uyghur items (hats, paintings, instruments, etc.) as well as Islamic architecture. The menu was smaller than I expected, with no dedicated vegetable section that I expect in most Chinese restaurants (though given the climate of the Xinjiang region, maybe their cuisine is not veggie-heavy). In addition, it was disappointing that they didn't have any yogurt or desserts, that the Yelp check-in offer is no longer valid [the owner didn't know how to remove it], and that there were no dumplings or 餅 on the menu as pictured in some older photos. The food is also a bit pricey, though the portion sizes are decent. As others have mentioned, food is made to order, so there may be somewhat of a wait. Service was a bit slow too, since there were no servers other than the owner couple. Everything was very tasty, albeit a bit on the saltier side. We ordered Beef and [King Oyster] Mushroom, the Uyghur Chow Mein (Flat Noodle), and Dry Garlic Fish. The fish filets were fried to a nice crisp and accompanied with flavorful dried garlic. The husband of the husband and wife owner couple came to chat with us at the end of our meal, in Mandarin. We had a fascinating conversation and he told us a lot about the Xinjiang region and the Uyghur people. Under the new ownership, the Mongolian beef was still really good, but the green onion pancake isn't as good and flavorful. I tried a different noodle than I've gotten in the past, so I can't really compare, but it was decent. My friends and I stayed a really long time, but the servers were really patient and accommodating. They were so generous to even give us a free desert (ice cream and persimmons). I think I liked the ambience under the old ownership better though - something about the seating arrangement, decor, or lighting felt more cozy - not sure what it was. read more

We went for a early dinner late lunch.. we arrived by 4:30ish on a Sunday afternoon.. it's a halal Urgyhrs Chinese restaurant... The ambience was cozy.. it was quite spacious and we had two other tables occupied.. they had a separate corner at the side of the restaurant which could be booked for get togethers or a small intimate party ..since it was a weekend there was only one server .. but she was pretty quick.... We ordered chicken potstickers and green onion pan cakes for starters.. mangolian beef, kung pao shrimps and handmade noodles with lamb for the entrees.. we were served potstickers right at the end instead of starters... but since they were freshly made (from dough to filling) and not from restaurant depot I forgave them.. their quality of food is definitely better then it's contemporaries.. the lamb noodles were definitely my favorite of all.. their portions were American standard size... and their pricing is very reasonable .. all of this cost less than $100 Will come back again ... read more

I stopped by for an early dinner with friends. The restaurant ambiance was casual with lots of seating. Plenty of parking in the lot. The pro was the food. They have a wide variety of entree items including beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, and vegetable options. Our food was cooked well, steamy hot, fresh, and tasty. We ate everything and nothing was leftover ;) The main issue was the customer service. The environment seemed cold and unwelcoming. We were barely greeted upon arrival. When we left, nobody thanked us for coming. Despite the restaurant being empty, we had to constantly flag down the waitress for things like water and napkins. A restaurant's reputation is both about food quality and service in my opinion. The food is wonderful.
