I tried Indian food for the first time this past Friday thanks to my brother & sister in law. I don't know why I haven't tried it before but oh my -- it was sooo good! I loved it. Everything they ordered was delicious. I sort of third wheel myself to their dinner plans so they ordered before I arrived. I'm honestly not a fan of curry but they ordered 3 types of curry and I loved all of them! & the Naan -- OMGGGG. They ordered the garlic naan and 10/10. Sooo good. The inside is clean and well decorated. Lighting is dimmed which I love! The waiters were attentive but also gave us space -- does that make sense? They were quick & welcoming. Update as of August 16th, 2026. We haven't been there in a few months, so we decided to take my mom. We were welcomed by new staff there. Let me tell you, the staff before was fine, but this staff now is excellent. We had the opportunity to meet Aditya, who was our server, and he was incredible, along with this young lady, who is probably one of the sweetest waitresses we've met. They had a few other people working that were very friendly, and going to the restaurant is even more enjoyable. Food is always going to be good there, and they are very consistent. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great food in a pleasant atmosphere. The hubby and I came to meet up with another couple for a weekend lunch. When we got there at 11:30 it was quite empty, but by the time we left it was nearly full--a popular spot, and we could see why. We were rather pleasantly surprised at how upscale it looked in here--all cloth napkins, white tablecloths, and a recently renovated-looking interior with lots of dark wood. There were lots of options on their lunch special menu, which they even have on the weekends, and even more on their regular menu. I had the paneer tikka masala lunch special and the hubby had the saag paneer lunch special. All the lunch specials come with rice, salad greens, lentil soup, naan, a mini samosa (on attractive metal serving ware), along with self serve coffee and chai. At $16.95 as of this writing, we thought it was a great deal. The hubby and I shared our food and thought it was very good overall. I thought the saag was a touch too salty but it didn't mean I hated it. They do serve alcohol here, although we didn't imbibe on our visit. As for parking, they have a small front parking lot and a larger back lot (which we weren't aware of until our friends told us). The India Restaurant is located in Artesia on the block with all of the amazing Indian restaurants. My boyfriend and I were somewhat in the area, and we made a slight detour to explore the area. This was such a great spontaneous discovery. They have a small parking lot in the front where we parked, but then we saw later on that they also have additional parking in the back if you don' see spots in the front. Upon entering the staff was welcoming. The gave us a few tables to choose from that were cleaned and appropriate for 2 people. I just want to say service was impeccable our whole time there. Everyone on their team took turns checking on us, making sure our waters were refilled, and that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. So nice!! As we explored the menu, we saw the combination dinners that allowed us to get more variety, which we love. We both picked a different combo so we could share and try more things. My boyfriend enjoys tandoori so he went with the Mix Tandoori Grill ($26.95) that comes with an assortment of Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tikka, Fish Tikka served in a sizzling platter on a bed of onions with naan, rice, and gulab jamun. So much food! I picked the India Special ($24.95) which comes with chicken tikka, the choice of lamb or chicken curry which I opted for the chicken, veg, korma, raita, rice, naan, and gulab jamun. What a FEAST!! For the naan I asked for the garlic naan and it was INCREDIBLE. Wow! Might be THEE best Indian food I have ever enjoyed. Between the two of our orders I felt like I had the variety I have when I go eat at Indian buffets. My boyfriend loved the tandooris platter. All of the proteins were cooked perfectly. I assume they were prepped separately to get to the right cooking temp. So funny because my boyfriend was eating the rice while I was indulging in the naan. If someone asks where to go for South Asian food, I always suggest The India Restaurant. The food is great, the service is friendly, and the restaurant is cozy. Diving into the details - the restaurant decor is quite formal and has always been kind of surprising to be given that I often come for casual meals. The staff are well dressed in white button ups and always very polite so it's good vibes all around. If you know me, I'm nothing if not predictable. I always get the butter chicken and unapologetically so. IT IS SO GOOD. I refuse to be shamed into trying other things and if that makes me basic, so be it. In case you haven't guessed, I'm also always getting their garlic naan as well. I've tried other dishes before but nothing beats the chicken. It was love at first bite. My wife and I stumbled on this hidden gem a couple weeks back. A fish coconut curry, lamb chops, and palak paneer later, we were charmed. They have a self-serve station for chai and coffee, which was a nice addition to the meal. The plate comes with the entree, rice, salad, and a mung bean side dish. We had a party of nine for our group Christmas dinner. The ambiance and food were wonderful, and everyone was happy--until the very end. The bill was handwritten rather than processed through the cashier system, which was unusual but acceptable. However, they added an 18% tip, which we would have been fine with, except it was calculated on the total amount including sales tax. We politely pointed this out, but they refused to correct it. Not wanting to argue, we paid and left. Unfortunately, their attitude toward customers was disappointing. The sauce for the butter chicken was hearty and comforting and just *chefs kiss*. They let you customize the spice levels and I got the spiciest level, which wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be, but it was still really enjoyable. As requested by our son, we had lunch here to celebrate his 17th birthday. He loves Indian cuisine, and this is the perfect setting to celebrate his special day. We have been here before eight years ago, and I believe they have extensively remodeled their interior. It looks even more upscale than before. The chandeliers! The food tasted exquisite, and the butter chicken was rich and creamy. The saag paneer was also smooth and delicious. I even tried their okra, and it was well seasoned and refreshing.
