Dr. Lindley and her team of techs and office managers are incredible. My 13 year old Westie has a terrible case of dry eye that Dr. Lindley and Animal Eye Consultants has been working to treat since 2017. After a routine checkup, and change to her medication routine, I noticed redness and puffiness in Bella's good eye. I was very concerned about this when it hadn't calmed down after a few days. After a day of phone tag and detailed conversations regarding what was happening to my dog's eyes, Animal Eye Consultants found an appointment slot within two days. When we walked into see Dr. Lindley, she noticed my Dad's arm was stratched up and bloody (from my dog being nervous), the staff got him a band-aid then took care of my Bella. They throughly cleaned her eyes, did several tests, and a detailed examination. They changed our medication routine and, when Dr. Lindley noticed my Dad was nervous about giving Bella ointment, she replaced it with a different eye drop that he would be more comfortable giving my dog during the day. All in all, I'm so thankful for the team at Animal Eye Consultants. They are truly experts in animal opthomology, and really care about the owners and especially for their furry patients. read more

For a specialist I think the price is fair for the experience that Dr Lindsey has. When our puppy suddenly went blind, we were able to get an appointment quickly with the referral of our vet. She diagnosed our pup correctly, put him on a treatment plan, and his sight has really improved! read more

I'm just a little frustrated. I have a dog that has a bulging red eye and I needed to see a specialist. I knew it was expensive and ready to pay and I was referred here. On the phone the receptionist said that it would be $375 to book and hold the appointment and then at the appointment it would be an additional $250 for the three tests. I also was not able to get in until the very end of March, but had to make the appointment the first week of April. I ended up cancelling only a couple days later. I made the appointment on February 19th. In the time being my dogs eye got much worse, that's why I cancelled my appointment due to needing in now. What upset me the most is that the only refunded the $300 and kept the $75. I understand that there is probably a policy on the contract, but I cancelled with a two month notice, my dog I adopted only 1.5 months before making this appointment, and I needed in much sooner now. Again, I understand policies and cancellation policies, but I find that there can be some wiggle room with this. I am not a person to complain, but my dog came first and I just felt like I needed to be heard. And while talking to the person who cancelled my appointment, she also said that, "the next time I book and cancel, it will not be refunded at all." read more

I have a sharpei who developed some pain and excessive tearing in her eyes due to entropion. My vet wasn't comfortable doing surgical correction and recommended we come to Animal Eye Consultants. My typically sweet dog is an absolute menace at the vet but the staff here seemed unfazed by her antics. We were able to get her surgery the same day. We noticed an almost instant improvement in her condition and we could tell her vision was much better. She also seemed much more comfortable, no longer rubbing her eyes. She healed up with no complications and our local vet was quite impressed with the outcome. The pricing here is going to be higher than your family vet but I think my pet's well-being warrants the specialist care. read more

They definitely know their stuff but be prepared to pay and to accommodate to their schedule. Our dog had glaucoma and needed help right away. Animal Eye Consultants was the closest specialist for us but I should have figured something was up when they asked for money up front before the appointment (non-refundable). They were able to help our dog but at a great financial cost. Our dog had to have an eye removed and the way they made it sound, only they could do the procedure but we loved our dog and wanted to help him. $5000 later our dog was better. However, this meant he had to have checkups and medications for his remaining eye. This meant $150 to $200 visits plus medications and when I told them I needed afternoon appointments, they made you feel like you were asking for the world and I got cussed out one time by one of the employees for for asking for an afternoon appointment. I'm sorry but with these vet bills, I can't take time off work. Within the last few months I found out our dog had to have his other eye removed and after talking to our own vet, found out they could do it for $700-800. What was the last straw was Animal Eye Consultants, after finding out about my dog's other eye, wanted me to either take the dog to another location of theirs further away for an expensive procedure or to have them remove the eye (another $5000) and did they try to make me feel guilty when I told them no. Needless to say, I had our own vet remove it with no problem. After all this, I'll never have any dealings with Dr. Lindy or her staff again nor will I recommend them to anyone. read more

I am thrilled with the kind, patient, talented people I have worked with at Animal Eye Consultant. From Chris who spent hours on the phone with me as I asked a million questions Dale and our fantastic surgeon Dr. Kecova who explained things patiently and answered all questions and came in on Saturday so Faith could be checked after her Friday surgery, They knew how concerned I was for my 9 year old yorkie poo and even sent me pictures of while Faith was being prepared for surgery and a wonderful picture of Dr. Kecova holding Faith as she was going in for surgery. They kept me up to date during the whole process. I highly recommend them and was thrilled with the whole process. Faith now has her eyesight back and when she went to her toy box to pick out some toys I was very emotional seeing her returned to her old self. I am very upset with my visit to Animal Eye Consultants. I was sent there by our vet with my 13 1/2 yr old Puggle. She thought they'd do a small procedure and she'd be able to care of him till he was cured. She had no idea they'd want to do a $3,200 surgery! 1st of all they won't even make an appointment until you pay $250 up front. Then when you get there it's another $87 for 3 routine 'tests'. So ... our visit. We got there on time. There were 2 girls behind the counter. They didn't even check us in for 45 minutes. Then we were brought into a room with a man and a high school girl. The man had the high school girl perform and chart the 3 eye tests. Finally we met Dr Lindley. After examining my dog she told us she could do surgery. She could do it that day at 5, send him home by 7 with a cone he'd wear for a couple weeks. I explained my husband and I had to work 12 hour days the next couple days and wouldn't want him to be left alone. She said he'd be fine! I know for sure we'd at least have been up all night with him! I've had dogs teeth cleaned and they weren't fine for a day or so. The thought of putting him through such a big ordeal tore us up. I also really struggled with spending over $3,500 on a 13 1/2 year old dog with a life expectancy of 10-15. I strongly felt they play on your emotions. They tell you matter of factly they'll do the surgery that night without letting you process it. They don't help you consider all the factors. They also offered to remove his eye for $2,300. I called my vet from the exam room and she helped me say no way to either of the surgeries. If we decided to remove his eye our vet could do it for under $500 Sadly, we decided to put our dog down rather than put him through such an ordeal at his age. He has other issues going on where it wouldn't be humane to do this to him. If he were a much younger dog than I would understand the heroics of this very expensive surgery. But at some point you have to use common sense. In the moment of the visit a pet owner is to emotionally involved to make a rational decision. read more

I had taken my cat here for quite some time. I was happy with the care, but then they stopped having monthly office visits in the city and when I called to inquire they told me they would call me when they had another option for city visits. Months passed and I heard nothing. When I finally called them to ask about it. I received a sassy reply and was told to just make an appointment for the Elgin location. I have been calling for an appointment and leaving messages, since no one actually answers the phone, and after days of waiting, no one is calling me back. I don't know what has happened here. Dr. Lindley's reviews seem to have gone downhill. I'll be looking for a new doctor to care for my cat. I'm truly disappointed in how terrible this office has become. read more

My dog had an eye laceration and needed surgery. just to walk in the door was $1150 and they would not use my care credit. everything about that practice is about money and not the well being of the pet or owner, my pet just left the exam room for surgery and they already asked for payment. so Tacky and to top it off I paid over $2000 and they said I would need to pay another 150 for post op return which should be included in the surgery. The vet that took care of her was wonderful and so was the tech, but when I called to speak with a manager or director about the cost factor was told I didnt't need to speak to anyone, that is their practice. shame on you making it about money. care credit is there for that purpose. read more

I have never been a patient for this Doctor and never will. I called to make an appointment, after being referred by my vet. Not only do they want the office visit fee upfront, which does not include any tests that of course will be required. So we are are over $300 up front and in advance when you make the appointment, and that's just to walk in the door. Now, if you want to be seen the same day, there is a $550 emergency fee. So, now we are at $850 plus any procedure the dog will most likely need. They hit me with the $550 fee, I was just appalled. To me that is just taking advantage of someone who really loves there furry friend. They are outrageous. We prepared !!!! read more

We can't say enough good things about Dr. Lindley and her staff! We recently brought our second dog in for eye surgery and we were extremely pleased both times. The staff treats their patients like their own. A littermate of our pup is scheduled for an upcoming surgery in California and Dr. Lindley offered to give her ophthalmologist a call to fill her in on our girl's case so that she would be prepared for a potential complicated surgery. I've been meaning to review Animal Eye Consultants for a few weeks now. In short, they are excellent. I would advise anyone with a pet eye problem to come here. I actually used Dr Lindley for the first time back in 2003 when my horse had an eye problem that my regular equine vet couldn't resolve. I'll be perfectly honest and say I don't remember much of those visits. I was a teenager and not footing the bill myself, so a lot of the details are fuzzy to me. I DO know she did a great job treating him back then. Fast forward 12 years and the same horse has a problem in the same eye. After fiddling around with my equine vet for a bit, I decided he needed a specialist again. I happened to call while Dr Lindley was out of town, but they squeezed me in on the day she got back, which I really appreciated. (No farm calls, so if you're a horse owner, plan to ship in.) I won't get into the details of what my horse's problem was since I'm sure most Yelp readers don't care :) but I will say that Dr Lindley and her staff were absolutely wonderful. WONDERFUL. She is a very thorough vet, answered questions honestly and in simple enough terms to understand what was going on. Her staff are so nice, I spent a considerable amount of time in the office each time I was there so I got to spend a lot of time chatting with most of them. They do a great job running that office. I'm happy to say my horse is doing quite well, and I have Dr Lindley to thank for that. Her and her team have been beyond amazing working with me and my cat! Her and her team have kept me informed and educated as much as they could. I brought my 18-year old cat here because his eye was very cloudy. My vet had recommended the eye vet in Wheeling, but I'm so glad I checked online reviews before making the appt at that facility. Based on reviews, I chose Animal Eye Consultants instead. Turns out, my cat has cataracts, uveitis, and glaucoma. They also did a lot of blood tests and found he has toxoplasmosis and hyperthyroidism. He is now being treated for all these conditions and I'm happy to say that his latest re-check (a little less than a month later) showed his eye conditions are a lot better. Dr. Lindley and all her staff are friendly, kind, patient, respectful, and truly caring and compassionate with the animals. We have received nothing but the best care from everyone at this practice. They also explain everything in detail and give you a print-out of discharge instructions and medication details with each visit. This is extremely helpful as there's a lot of information to absorb. The facility is also very clean - from the office area, to the waiting room, to the bathroom, to the exam room. There is no "animal" smell like there is sometimes in other vet's offices. Just be prepared ahead of time to spend a LOT of money. Veterinary specialists are extremely expensive. read more

If you care about your dog please do not go to this place!! Dr. Lindley is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever met. I am a Nurse and I have to admit she has terrible bedside manner, and all she cares about is money. I took my dog here to have a cataract removed. Dr. Lindley botched the operation, and a few months later my dog had to have her whole eye removed. A year later we go back because the same dog now has an ulcer in her good left eye. She barely assessed my dog before throwing an estimate in my face for over 600 dollars to perform a diamond burr keratectomy. I could tell she didn't perform the procedure correctly because she was done in less than 7 seconds and what a shock it didn't help in any way. Revisit a few days later for an update and she tells me she has to cut into my dogs eye and it will cost 1900 dollars. She rushes another estimate in my face and says do you want it or not. She wouldn't answer my questions, and she wouldn't further explain any alternative solutions. When I said I need to think about it she tells her assistant that I refuse to take care of my dog, check marked a box on her records and said goodbye. That was the last straw for me. I called them later during the week to let them know that Dr. Lindley is one of the worst doctors I've ever met and that I will no longer be going to their clinic. A week after that phone call Dr. Lindley sends me a personally signed letter saying we are no longer welcome at their facility. I really do feel like she is harassing me at this point when I clearly said I am not coming back on the phone a week prior. I ended up finding an AMAZING doctor at Eyecare for Animals. Dr. Wasserman has excellent bedside manner and will thoroughly explain every detail and option when it comes to treatments for your pet. He actually did a diamond burr keratectomy himself and guess what happened.....it worked!!! Lastly if you do decide to go to Dr. Lindley for treatment DO NOT let her tech Bruce get anywhere near your dog. He is rude and hurts the animals. read more

Dr. Lindley, Bruce and all the staff at Animal Eye Consultants are great! People drive hours from surrounding states to visit. Dr. Lindley is very knowledgeable and explains the eye conditions and how they develop while explaining possible causes and conditions in other areas of the dog, not just the eye. She works on horses, cats and dogs and has been so helpful dealing with our sick pup. I really love this practice. They were able to give us an emergency appointment and see us right away for Grace, on a Friday afternoon when everyone wanted to go home. Friendly and efficient office staff genuinely interested in my dog's story. Dr Lindley is carefully monitoring my dog's several other age-correlated issues, and she's thoroughly prepared for the appointment. So, for that matter, is her tech staff, who do a fair amount of the work before she comes in, and can competently answer any questions I had. Very happy client here. read more

Dr. Lindley and the staff at Animal Eye Consultants have given my chihuahua his quality of life back. We came to this practice on a referral from our primary vet when Lukas developed multiple issues with both eyes. Over the past couple of years, the treatment plan and schedule Dr. Lindley provided allowed us to treat him as long as possible at home with medication before any other interventions were needed. When he developed acute glaucoma, they guided us through our options, and performed an injection procedure that removed his pain without requiring invasive surgery. He is more active and happy than he has ever been, and has adjusted beautifully after the procedure. After a lot of research I decided to go here to have my cats eye checked out. One of his eyes is underdeveloped since birth and has chronic eye infections sometimes to the point where it's bleeding and has dark drainage almost daily that irritates all surrounding skin around it. I always keep it clean and have tried different things to treat it without finding any help. I ended up doing a respiratory panel on him here and they also did an eye exam with the drops etc during our appointment. I was told his respiratory panel was normal and they think it could have been something viral. I was prescribed eye drops that made his eye 100xs worse and inflamed his eye horribly. I figured sometimes it looks worse before it gets better so I kept up with the drops for a few weeks. It only got worse to the point where I had to stop them completely. I ended up paying $500 for absolutely no help from what I thought was a highly rated ophthalmologist. So I did more research online and bought a potent L-lysine supplement from AMAZON for $30 which fixed his eye in a matter of days. You'd think they would have suggested something simple like that huh? Save your money. read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Lindley, paid for the visit in advance, drove 1 hour from my home with my very anxious cat, only to be told that the doctor would not see me because I changed the terms of their professional service agreement.. Their form states that "I, the undersigned, hereby agree to accept complete financial responsibility for the full cost of any and all charges, fees, .... incurred and/or rendered by Animal Eye Consultants in the treatment of any/all animals." I crossed out "any/all animals and wrote in my cat's name. Two paragraphs later, the form states, "I irrevocably authorize my financial institution and/or credit card company...." I crossed out irrevocably. I explained that I have no problem paying any and all charges related to my animal but I will not be responsible for any and all animals, which may or may not be owned by me. I also questioned the irrevocable portion, because this is equivalent to a blank check for their clinic to charge me for any animal that they may treat, at any time, whether or not the animal belongs to me. I was told that I would not be seen and I could leave. I explained that I had paid$195.00 in advance for the appointment, and if I would not be seen, I would not pay for the appointment. I was told that I would not be refunded because it was my choice not to be seen. I explained that I was present, prepared to be seen, but they were telling me that they would not see me. I explained that it was not my choice not to be seen, but their choice not to see me, therefore I am not responsible for paying any fee to them. The veterinarian said from across the room that she would refund the fee. I asked for a copy of the receipt which I had signed for the service, as well as a copy of the refund. The woman argued with me and said that they had been mailed to me. I explained that it could not have been mailed to me because I just signed the receipt when I came in. I also asked for, and was refused, return of the paperwork I had brought, which contains personal information on me, my husband, and our cat. I have no idea if the vets at this clinic are good or not, but their business practices strongly suggest that they may not be reputable about their billing practices. read more

Fantastic clinic and staff. I have seen both Dr. Lindley and Dr. King, and they are excellent doctors. Dr. Lindley did cataract surgery for my dog so that she can continue to run agility, and I couldn't be more happy with the results. Everyone at the hospital is very friendly and attentive. Dr. Lindley and her staff were wonderful to me and my miniature schnauzer. They were very accommodating, got us in on the same day that we called for an appointment. Evaluated the situation and came up with a plan for treatment that was spot on!!! Even caught that she needed to be treated for high blood pressure which no one had addressed before! Plus in four days time we were already seeing marked improvement! Couldn't ask for any better. All the staff were polite and very competent. Highly recommend this office if your dog needs eye care! You may want to consider how we were treated when we called for an Initial Appointment for a follow-up with a highly regarded Animal Eye Doctor who recently transferred to this operation. This Doctor is one of the best in the business. But because of the company, Animal Eye Consultants, we will not be to see our preferred Doctor. At the first telephone call, Animal Eye Consultants requested $100 via credit card over the phone to hold the appointment, plus a considerable amount of additional information. It felt like a potential fraudulent operation. When my spouse questioned the reason for money and the information, this hesitant receptionist handed over the phone to her supervisor, and my spouse was promptly accused of being abusive. The female supervisor also told my spouse that the Doctor we requested was also standing nearby, had heard the entire conversation and referred to this Doctor by the wrong gender. We know this Doctor well. We consider him a friend. This supervisor's comments were, at best, wrong. At worse, well, the reader can decide. When we asked to talk with the Doctor, we were refused. This behavior by the supervisor (whose name is not known and not offered) is completely out of line, and in short order this company refused our appointment, as we refused the additional extensive information they requested. I would strongly suggest to anybody who is considering this company for their pet to go elsewhere. Their behavior clearly demonstrates they believe their potential customers are to be obsequious and submissive, and are lucky to pay their hard earned money for the opportunity to bring their pet to their office. Having been in the customer service our entire lives, (and now in retirement for one of us), this operation's behavior is seriously out of line. The relationship between customer and provider should polite and equal. Questions should be answered and explanations offered without resorting to criticizing one's character. If a company treats you rudely at the very first contact, then all other interactions are suspect. We suggest you avoid this company. read more

I have been going to this office since 2002. (Different office back then) I have spent thousands on surgeries and Dr. Lindley has been nothing but professional. I wanted to make an appointment today for a rescue that we adopted whom has cataracts. Because my dog is considered a "new patient" I have to pay $279 to hold an appointment. Just to HOLD an appointment. (includes tear test) Also, if you cannot cancel within 24 hours, say goodbye to your hard earned money. I have never owed this office money and have always paid on the spot. Never in my life have I had a doctor or any professional ask for this much money just to HOLD an appointment. As a small business owner, I know that without customers, you have no business. It's not the money, it's the principle. So disappointed Dr. Lindley that money has started to mean more to you than patients. All of our time is valuable. I was only hoping, once again, to help a rescue. read more

I have been taking my cats to Dr. Lindley for about 4 years now, and can't express how grateful I am to her and her staff. They are all wonderful and very helpful. Dr. Lindley is outstanding (along with the rest of the staff) and I would highly, highly recommend taking your animal (in my case dog) to see her. There is a high attention to detail, thoughtfulness and genuineness that seems to be the nature flow of order here :) All details from start to finish were meticulously reviewed without my prompting and the few questions I did have were welcomed and answered. We were provided with a recommendation to purchase drops the most economically efficient way possible and their office follows up regularly with a phone call during intermittent pressure checks that are performed at our regular vet. I could not be more happy with the care and service provided at this facility. (We originally went to the Naperville office as they rotate their Saturday hours between all of their locations but we are able to secure future appointment times at the Elgin office as it is closer for us to drive) They are happy to work with you and make what can be a very overwhelming process not seem so overwhelming. read more

Ah yes, Dr Denise Lindley. Went to her in her Naperville office around 2009/2010 for a CERF eye exam. My dog was 8 at the time and his entire line has zero eye issues. She stated he had some eye defect, and "he cannot be bred". Obviously this was a shock to me. Not,only her finding, but the way she stated the above! So about a month later I took my dog to the head of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois. I gave him zero background information and asked for a CERF exam. When completed he stated his eyes were perfectly normal. So who was right? I decided to try a third opthamologist ...again, same result....eyes were perfectly fine....and he received passing eye exams for the next 4 years!!! If I remember correctly, we had to "pay up front" like we were going to cheat them.....very unprofessional business manners....and an outright false diagnosis, due (my belief) to the fact my dog was not breeding stock, in her eyes. Too bad, as the top breed judges in the country absolutely loved him. By the way, she performed her services for an "eye clinic" for our breed club back around that same time. They never asked her again. You have been warned. read more
