Selfish and condescending "doctor". Do not go here if you can help it. There are better vets in The Colony.

While my sister was away, her cat had a situation that required her to be seen for a medical evaluation. When we arrived we were welcomed and escorted almost immediately into an exam room. Dr. McConnell came to see us right after the Vet Tech did our intake and was able to give us her professional evaluation. Thankfully this story has a happy ending and the cat was doing just fine! We were met with intense pressure to add blood panels and fecal tests to which I said I would like the information for each and then I'd like to reschedule to do those at a later date. I only would like the amount to take care of the needed vaccines today, a nail trim for both, a quote to get our girl spayed, and would like the info for the other testing to consider booking another appointment. More and more pressure was applied and finally let up. The vet tech took our puppy to the back and told us "we are just going to get their weight and temp". *they DID clip their nails for us per our request while doing so but did not say they were doing that in the back* but they came back to us with the shots already done WITHOUT TELLING US WHAT THE COST WOULD BE. When our dogs were brought back to the room we thought we were waiting for them to do the shots in the room with us (like every other vet has done) but before doing so they would tell us what today's bill came out to. But we were instead given the quotes for the recommended testing and spay and told we were finished. We get to the checkout counter and are told it's $352 for 3 shots total and a vet "exam" that never took place in our presence. We were never even given the option to discuss or decide if we would like to proceed with the vaccines because they took our dogs to "check temp and get weight" but instead also administered the vaccines so there was no way for us to decide if we would be proceeding with care at this facility. I am understanding that an exam needs to happen, I understand that we have 2 dogs so 2 x the cost, but what I DON'T understand is why you would not have a consultation with your patients. You can't even get your nails done without them telling you the price first, because it is IMPORTANT that you're both on the same page. I would have never wasted their time with an appointment if they would have told be I would pay $107 EACH for an "exam" that I would not at least get to witness. This feels extremely deceptive, it feels predatory to take away someone's option of proceeding by just doing it before discussing cost (especially after I already expressed interest/concern in payment for the other stuff they wanted to do), and I would certainly never recommend anyone go here. The price isn't the main problem - it is the lack of communication and care. I would rather drive an hour one way to our old vet because even if I'm paying the same cost, at least I get to see everything they're doing to my dog(s) AND they would never do anything before discussing the price AND AGREEING!! STOP TELLING PEOPLE YOU ARE WEIGHING THEIR PET WHEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ELSE.

The staff is more focused on upselling (overpriced) services rather than the well-being of pets. After contacting the clinic about my dog that was experiencing occasional vomiting and decreased appetite, they attempted to pressure me into several procedures that were not essential to diagnose my pet's condition. The receptionist and a random vet tech cornered me in the lobby insisting if I didn't agree to sedate my dog and consent to a $500 X-ray fee my dog would not get better. After my initial visit, I called to ask for medication to treat my dog's upset stomach and the staff was quick to say "you declined an X-ray so we can't prescribe anything". When I anxiously requested to speak to the vet himself, the receptionist acted defensive and accused me of yelling at her. When I did speak to the vet, he said "I'm not god, I don't know what's wrong with Scout!" This place isn't going to do anything for your pet unless you're prepared to drop $$$$ on unnecessary services. The Colony Animal Clinic preys on and exploits fearful pet owners for financial gain. Do not go here. For a 9lb 3 year old dog I was charged $75 exam fee $237.50 bloodwork $63 fecal test $58 anti nausea shot $40 antacid Had I got the X-ray too the tab would be well over $900 No one even called me with the results of the diagnostics, I had to reach out to them. You're not a customer/patient to them, you're just a paycheck.

Everyone seemed very friendly including the staff and the veterinarian. We came here since Sera my dog was struggling with walking specially on her back legs and experiencing some weakness. I really appreciated all the info, the kindness of the office staff, and really hoping the therapy will improve my dog's condition.

After trying a couple vets in Dallas, the urgent care vet referred me to Atlas for specialty support. We were there a lot and while we made progress, her bloodwork was still not great. And then her brother randomly got fluid in his belly. They were great about seeing me ASAP the week before a holiday and diagnosed him with FIP. They worked to get him medication that day from a local pharmacy on a weekend too. Unfortunately, FIP is still very fatal and he passed away a few days later. They were so kind when I told them. After his sister kept throwing up, we decided to treat her for FIP too. And she ended up doing so well! FIP only got an approved treatment last year, so many vets are not experienced with it. But Dr. (Daniel) Anthony was good about checking her progress and working with me on the most cost effective way to handle the many vet visits and lab work. I'm happy to share that she's officially cleared FIP treatment and observation protocol and she finally had normal bloodwork last month. She is super playful and loved to torment her big cat brother. We held off on her vaccines and spay because of everything, but she will be going to them next month for this too. I never have to wait long once I arrive and the front desk is always friendly. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep going for her regular visits since I live in South Dallas and the trek to Frisco is a lot, but their Saturday hours are a savior and if I lived closer, I'd stay a client forever.

****** UPDATED REVIEW****** I've brought my cat here 3…read moretimes now. I like the convenient location of the clinic because I live across the street. First time was for new patient visit and vaccines, second for her teeth cleaning which was over 700$ and then third time to recheck an area at the base of her tail because she was missing hair- $200. I usually give my cat gabapentin for long visits or wellness visits where she gets shots like her vaccines and obviously for her dental visit. But for a random check up on a small itchy lesion on the base of her tail that had already been previously reviewed, I didn't think to give her the gabapentin. She just got weighed and she just got given antibiotics from her dental treatment and she's not showing any symptoms of disease or sickness. Well, the assistant got clearly annoyed with me when I told her I hadn't given Darla any gabapentin, then she grabbed my cat without asking and said they were going to have to take her to the back to review her, when I asked why, because I just needed a visual opinion from the doctor about her hair loss spot, she said "because you didn't give her her gabapentin and she's known to bite" ---- After posting this review the manager of the practice, Duke, who said he's been here 17 years, apologized and gave me a credit for the service that was rendered without consent. And apologized for the behavior and steps taken this day. Changing my review from 1-3 stars due to the kindness of Duke and his understanding of the situation. Thank you
