I highly recommend Animal Health Centre! I switched to this clinic a few years ago for my 13-year-old dog, and the experience has been fantastic. Their hours are incredibly convenient--especially being open on Saturdays--and they always answer the phone promptly. Making an appointment is seamless, usually for the next day, and they even accommodated us with a same-day appointment recently, which was a huge relief. On top of that, their prices are by far the most reasonable around. Dr. Durham is fantastic; he is deeply knowledgeable and takes the time to thoroughly explain the issue, its cause, and the treatment plan. His educational approach completely eases my anxiety, and I completely trust his expertise. He is never judgmental and never pushes unnecessary extras like extra vaccines. If I could give you zero stars I would! I absolutely hate you guys more than words can express I hope this reaches the right people! You are the reason my dog is dying! You should be held responsible!! In April 2021 we took our dog here for his yearly was told he had a slight heart murmur and that the dog food we were giving him grain free was fine with him. That in fact made it worse! Instead of giving us the proper steps of what's next for our dog he made it worse! TRUVET is saving him giving a longer time with us! Dr. Durham has been our veterinarian over the last 20 years through 3 Boston Terriers and now our little French Bulldog. The care he provides has kept our fur-babies healthy and happy. He is knowledgeable and stays on top of the newest treatments and research. With pre-surgical blood work he identified a critical health issue with our Frenchie when we took her in to be spayed and connected us to a specialist with whom he worked to get her healed. I have had many dogs and taken them all here. Now I wish I never did. He went through his check up "hearts good, lungs good, teeth and weight is good she will fill out; about 10months old" very confidently. My most recent dog rescue had heart worms her heart was not good and I think that should have been obvious to any vet with training. Took her to get a second opinion on treatment... the other vet told her age by looking at her let me know she was 100% at least 18months and showed me that her teeth where not good for a 10month old but matches perfectly with 18months same with weight and breed. If you want a guy that sounds nice and and confident but doesn't know what he's talking about and over charges horrifically take your pet here. If not find a different vet. read more

DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT take your dog to this clinic! My dog had to have xrays and he was so scared and I could hear him literally screaming, Dr came back with him and said he went to the bathroom while they were trying to X-ray him and the Dr was mad!!! Omg! The dog was terrified!! Anyway he came back and said they didn't get good pics and had to take him again... my dog came back with all vessels in his eyes busted, cuts on his belly and I was told he needed surgery. I did not trust this opinion and my dog is on new meds and is healing!!! Terrible terrible experience and I will never return!!! read more

If I could give this place a ZERO star review, I would. The team at Animal Health Centre was completely unprofessional in handling the care of my partner's kitten. A routine checkup and vaccination turned into a humiliating and completely ludicrous experience. Two 10 week old kittens were brought in for their shots, and after an hour and a half from the visit, one kitten was having an allergic reaction. Breathing quickly, face puffing up, incontinence, and more. So, as a responsible pet owner would do, the kitten was brought in to be checked out once more. Christopher M. Durham proceeded to QUESTION my partner as to whether they could afford the potentially life-saving steroids that her kitten needed, and WAITED for her to visibly check her bank account in front of him BEFORE proceeding to give this sick kitten the steroids and benadryl they needed for the vaccinations THIS CLINIC provided. During this entire process, the vet proceeded to talk to her as if she were a child, asking if she could even afford to raise the two kittens she brought in on her own accord. This is completely unacceptable and I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Unprofessional, degrading, and CLEARLY values the money over an animals life. I am utterly DISGUSTED by the behavior here, take your money elsewhere. read more

I just brought my little Kilo into this vet, sorta last minute. I was pretty sure our new (clawed) kitty scratched his eye. I frantically called around the area to see who could fit him in. (We just lost a kitty a few months ago, so I'm a little paranoid!). Most of the places I called wouldn't even take a new client the same day. (Uh, weird!) So I called Animal Health Centre and they fit him in this afternoon. Plus it is very close to the casa! I got there early (I know, I know, thank god I don't have children!!!) and they got me right in and started checkin him out. No scratches on the eye, yay!! But more than likely an infection, so they got him started on antibiotics. They printed me out a detailed invoice, plus gave me another print out on shot pricing and declawing for the little one. Very very affordable!! (Compared to other vets I'd been to). The vet, Dr. Durham, was SO nice and SO thorough. He spent alot of time with us and asked questions and answered questions. He was SUPER. It's just a small town vet, I believe it's just himself and his tech. It was actually nice to not have a room full of other animals in the waiting room. But he was steadily taking patients, so I thought that was good. Anyway, I'm VERY weird about doctors and vets, so I can't believe my good fortune this time! My prior vet is waaaaay on the other side of Mesquite so we've been thinking of getting a closer vet anyway. Check tis vet out if you are in The Colony area. I'm so very pleased. read more

Chose this Vet after researching several in the area after moving to The Colony Texas. I have been very pleased with every aspect of care that I have received whether it has been General and routine care as well as surgical care. They have been very thorough friendly pfront and in the exam rooms. They take their time at every appointment to make sure you completely understand what's going on, you get a thorough explanation and you're given the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have in the event you don't understand. The sign out front says "compassionate health care".It should say "uncompassionate health care" I took my dog to this clinic because of a coupon.I was given an estimate for surgery to remove tumors on her leg. She was also treated for a chronic ear infection. 2 weeks after her ear drops ran out she had another bad infection. I took samples from her ears to the office on my way to work to get more meds. The vet their wouldn't give me any ear drops with out seeing the dog. I couldn't be late for work so she had to suffer all day. I called my old vet and she told me to stop by on my way home and she gave me the drops because she knew the history..no office visit required. She also gave me an estimate to remove the tumors that was 150.00 less than that bunch at "uncompasssionate health care" I apologize to Dr. Wild at the Colony Animal Clinic for letting a 10.00 coupon make me try another vet. I will never stray again. The Colony Animal Clinic is on Paige rd. The office is not as new or fancy as the other but they truly are compassionate healthcare. read more

I brought my cat here with a hurt back and the vet has been very good to us. He made sure he explained everything we had questions about, explained what he was doing every step of the way, and has been spot on so far with how my cat is supposed to be progressing. My Persian cat had just had kittens 2 days ago and I noticed that my kitten was having some hard stool stuck on his behind. I called several banfield's everyone was booked this Veterinary was able to get me in immediately which at the time I thought was great. However now I know why Banfield was booked and this place had absolutely no appointments. Before my cat was even tested or x-rayed he was already trying to get me to pay almost $800 for a spay he had not even looked at my kitten. I was insistent upon seeing the x-rays before accepting any surgeries thank goodness I looked at the x-rays because my cat was simply constipated. He also wanted to give my cat antibiotics making me have to take care of this kitten every 3 hours and waking up in the middle of the night every 3 hours. He brought me in an estimate on how much it would cost to D constipate my cat $684. I told him if my cat were to need antibiotics I would get the antibiotics at Kroger. I also mentioned can't we just give her a stool softener and see what happens instead of rushing to surgery or anything abrasive to my cat who had just given labor. He charged me $264 for an enema. He also came in with a shot of antibiotics. I told him I would rather just keep an eye on my cat before I give her antibiotics and make her unable to take care of her kitten. He gave my cat the enema and then put her in her cat carrier and allowed her to poop all over herself. This guy is just trying to pay his bills and charge people as much as he can because he is not a very nice guy he talks like a robot he's very strange and do not go there. read more

We chose this vet because he was close to home... and I'm so happy we did! We have taken our cat, Pickles, here for a little under a year now. Pickles has a herniated disk in his back and kidney disease and Dr. Durham has been there to help him live a normal, quality life through it all. He is very thorough and will lay out the cost (in detail) before you commit to anything. His prices are VERY reasonable for quality treatments. He also has his own lab in office so there is almost no wait time for test results! The front desk ladies are always so kind and welcoming. They always try to work with your schedule and fit in a time that works for you. Now we bring our new puppy to Dr. Durham as well for checkups and shots. Despite us moving further away, we will continue to see him. I see many poor reviews on here for this vet but, let me reassure you, as a pet mom who cares dearly about her animals (no kids yet, so they're all my husband and I have), I highly recommend him! read more

Very impressed with the level of attention and service provided. I have a large German Shepherd with a bit of social anxiety and the Doctor and staff were extremely patient, encouraging and knowledgeable. While I was in for dog allergies and treatment they also provided some tips and suggestions for training. Very competitive prices as well.
