I've used Animal Hospital at Teasley for over 8 years. We've had a number of pets in their care including having an eye surgically removing on a black Labrador retriever; mega colon treatments on a persian cat.. etc. Big or small, major or minor, the first class care is second to none. Sure, the facilty isn't posh or fancy like many other ritzy veterinarian offices that seem to apeal more to the owners than pets. The Animal Hospital at Teasley provide top quality care at low cost, even pet medications are in line with 800-petmeds. To answer the 1 star lady with the puppy charged for 1 flea treatment pill. FYI: THEY WERE TRYING TO HELP YOU! Since puppies grow so fast, it's imperative that you get the correct medication according to it's weight. That's why they wanted you to come back in next month to weigh in. Buying 6 month supply of meds in advance for a dog that could double its weight in 2 months is not only foolish, waste of $$, but harmful to your dog if they're not getting the correct dosage. They did the same with my bulldog puppy... only now that he's at a weight where he won't get any heavier could I buy a box of Trifexis. I highly recommend them. read more

Best vet experience ever! Dr. Epstein helped us with Sparklemousse's bladder stone surgery expertly and compassionately. Quick surgery, free follow-ups, full credit on the subsequent exchange from canned to dry prescription food and lots of correspondence by phone and email. It's never been this easy to get in contact with a vet! Office staff was great, too. I should also note that the surgery cost only 1/4th of the price quoted by THREE other vets in the area and Dr. Epstein fixed Mousse's hernia at no extra charge. I couldn't believe those other vets were trying to charge so much!!! Dr. Epstein is knowledgeable, skilled, down to earth, compassionate, honest and fair. We previously used this vet for our French Bulldog, Moose. Unfortunately, this resulted in us losing a wonderful piece of our family. Several weeks ago Moose began having trouble urinating so we took him to see Dr. Epstein. He had crystals in his urine, which we were told was common for the breed. X-rays "revealed" that there were no stones and we were given antibiotics and headed home. We were also told that if stones formed, Dr. Epstein was fully capable of performing the surgery at a reasonable cost. As the week progressed Moose did not seem to be feeling any relief so I called to inquire about different options such as a catheter etc. I was told to stay the course and that neutering him would help alleviate the problem. Since the vet scheduled the procedure 10 days out, we had no indication that this could develop into a life threatening event. Moose seemed in good spirits but continued to have problems. I called again to check if a different option would be better, again we were told to stay on the antibiotics. I came home to find Moose in severe respiratory distress. I immediately called the vet and was told she was not in, but would be soon. Upon arrival, I was told they were unsure when Doctor Epstein would arrive and that I should take Moose to the neighboring vet. After a brief misdiagnosis by that vet, I was told that they were incapable of fixing the problem and that I needed to take Moose to the emergency room. I was charged over 200 dollars for that. We went to the emergency room where they performed more advanced imaging and determined THAT THERE WERE STONES, and his urinary track was completely blocked. There was no surgeon onsite, so I again called Dr. Epstein's office (during business hours) to inform them that it was a matter of life and death. Keep in mind that we had previously been told that the surgery would not be a problem. We were told that that ER was our best option...we lost Moose...to a totally routine and preventable situation that was allowed to become unmanageable. I called Dr. Epstein's office the next morning to let them know what happened. The staff apologized, but we never heard a peep from Dr. Epstein. Even the emergency room reached out to us, but not her, his vet. If your furry family members can't rely on the vet during an emergency, what is the point. RIP Moose read more

I have been using this clinic for over 16 years and loved Dr. Wright before his retirement. Since Dr. Epstein took over the practice, I have continued to use the clinic for routine care and once for a UTI for my yorkie poo. In late March, my pup began just standing in the middle of the room and was clearly uncomfortable. No vomiting or diarrhea. When I took her in, Dr. Epstein diagnosed her with pancreatitis and gave her steroids and antibiotic. I had to ask her about food and she said "low fat" like chicken and rice, which I fed her each meal. She did not get better and was in obvious discomfort. Took her back in and Dr. E. wanted to do xrays because she thought there was something skeletal going on. She stated that there was "definite arthritis in her elbows" and possibly "something" going on in her neck "we need to watch". She prescribed muscle relaxers and nsaids which she stayed on for 10 days. The meds DID help and I began weaning her off the meds and she was perfectly fine. Nothing was said at this second visit about the pancreatitis, so she was not being treated for that at this point. She continued to do fine-normal - for a couple of weeks at least. Then she started waking up in the middle of the night and wanting LOTS of water and to go outside. Unheard of for her. I took her in again and Dr. E diagnosed her with diabetes. She prescribed 1.5 units of insulin 2x a day. She recommended that I purchase a meter to test the blood at home, which I did. she stated- "just watch the video on how to do it". At this initial visit, I was NOT told I could come in for instructions, nor did she recommend a specific diet. On a later visit, after doing my own research, she wrote prescriptions for two different foods. I did go in for the instruction visit (with a tech) who used my meter to get a sample from Sophie's ear flap. Then I tried it. There were two totally different readings and she had NO explanation for why that might be. I gave insulin at home for one week then I emailed Dr. E regarding doing a curve and asked for some feedback. Dr. E never responded to the email in spite of the fact that she had freely offered her email address and told me to feel free to email her with questions and concerns. I do not feel that I was given the support or knowledge I needed to deal with a pet newly diagnosed with diabetes. I have a very strong concern that the diabetes was not caught when testing was done for pancreatitis and whether she ever actually had pancreatitis in the first place. I would think long and hard before using this vet for a seriously ill pet as the communication between the vet and the pet parent is very poor. read more

Be careful. Our kitten got spayed here and this office released her to the WRONG owners! The other people drove 45 min away with my cat before the office realized the mistake. Even more, Dr. Epstein wouldn't even return my calls for 4 days or respond in any way. When she did, she made no effort to resolve that situation. Haven't had much luck with this animal hospital in the past but this was now the final straw. I was told multiple times that since my dog has had a heartworm test done on him there that I can just go and pick up heartworm medication from him without needing to bring him with me but apparently that's not the case anymore because I was turned away with hardly any customer service being told that I need to pay $55 for another check up to get his heartworm medication. I have been able to come multiple times in the past to get the heartworm medication without ever having to bring my dog and when I said what changed they said Texas law changed, so I asked when did the law change and they reply that it's always been the law but they are just now enforcing it. (So before we're they not following the law?) like I said no customer service was not helpful at all. They've lost my business and I'll be sure to tell others... read more

The doctor and the staff are amazing folks. Very caring and a complete class act. Recently we had a senior cat develop health complications and eventually passed away. During her last weeks, they did a great job helping CeeCee feel comfortable and loved. And then when she passed, we got a condolence card from the entire staff. I'm not sure how many great things I can say about them. I drove an hour to bring my dog here to be fixed. Everyone is very nice and considerate. They answered my million questions and even called me to let me know how my dog was after being neutered. Dr Epstein is wonderful and clearly very caring. I adore Dr. Epstein!! We came in with a recently adopted rescue puppy who had loads of issues and ultimately needed two major surgeries (an eye surgery and an amputation) and Dr. Epstein was kind and thoughtful, explaining everything in detail, and answering all of my many many questions. Dr. Epstein thoroughly laid out all of our options and I never felt like she was just trying to bill us for the most expensive treatment. She would often explain a number of possible approaches but suggest we try the cheapest and most simple options first. I want my pets to have the best possible treatment but I also doesn't want to over medicate my pets unnecessarily and while I am willing to pay handsomely for a treatment they might need - I do have a finite budget and I appreciate that Dr. Epstein had a balanced, thoughtful, and respectful approach to her treatment plans. I also know she does a tremendous amount of work with local rescue groups (we were recommended to her from the group where we adopted our special needs pup) which speaks volumes to me about her character! I can't really understand how she has all these negative reviews, because my experiences with her have been so overwhelmingly positive!! I never write yelp reviews but in this case I felt like I had to speak up! I recommend her to all of my friends, and am always happy to bring my pups to see her!! I've always had an excellent experience at the Animal Hospital on Teasley Lane. I first started visiting here when I first adopted a dog back in 2008. From there on, I have brought everyone of my animals in to this hospital. Dr. Wright is no longer in charge (from what I can see), but that hasn't changed the quality of the service my animals have received. Visits can get a bit pricey, but I'm willing to pay that price when the service has constantly been excellent. read more

We originally came here for Dr. Wright back in 2010 I believe. He was absolutely wonderful and we were very pleased with his service, expertise, and bedside manner. Since then, Dr. Epstein has taken over and our experience with her has been less than satisfactory. During our visits she presents an unpleasant demeanor and lacks the warmth and congeniality of Dr. Wright. Furthermore, (echoing a previous review) she is not very receptive to questions (which were relevant to the presenting issue) and is not as thorough as our previous vet. I thank this clinic for keeping my dogs healthy which, of course, is the most important issue. read more

There are so many good things to say about this entire practice, I'm not even sure where to begin. I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Epstein for quite some time now and she's always been incredibly thorough and over-the-top compassionate. She'll be straight with you on prognoses and give you all your options. Also, she works tirelessly with the shelter in Denton and with rescue groups in the area. She's seemingly always willing to donate a surgery to save a homeless animal's life and will sometimes even take care of the animal until it finds a forever home. But this is really why I'm writing this review. She literally saved a friend's dog's life last week. After consulting with the emergency vet and another vet over two months of intermittent fevers and lethargy, Dr. Epstein was able to figure out the problem. The infection progressed to a terrifying place, and without Dr. Epstein's expertise, this dog would literally be dead. Not only did she save a life, but she sent photos of staff interacting with the pooch, which, of course, helped with the worries. It was so nice to see the dog was getting cuddles while she was sick and without her human. Obviously Dr. Epstein is amazing. :-) read more

This Animal Hospital in my opinion has a lot issues that need to be fixed . Starting with the sign on the door, drove in had hard time finding right building the sign is small , brown not easy to see . I'm Elderly can not get around good or stand long , The restroom door very hard to open sticks on the floor was very dirty and nasty not clean . This place felt unclean and not sanitary floors dirty, tables dirty, bathroom dirty, vets clothes stained very dirty . Asked for chair no chairs in this small tight room finally got chair 10 minutes later when vet came in . They Don't even take Pet Care Credit Cards . Very unhappy with this visit will not be going back or would I recommend this place . For the Fees they charge I expected a clean business and good service . read more

The staff is always friendly, knowledgable, and make a point to remember our dogs names and even have come out to pet them, which makes them more comfortable with the situation, like going to a friend's house instead of the vet. Dr Epstein treats the animals with respect and love. She has the best bedside manner of any vet I've ever used. I've never had any trouble getting the information I needed from her or her staff and, when I have had questions after the doctor has left (I asked the lady who was checking us out some questions that I just thought of), Dr. Epstein was kind enough to come back out and talk to me. I had a border collie puppy that was sick. I took her to this animal hospital last week. They wouldn't listen to me when I was listing everything that was wrong with her. They took a stool sample and said she had coccidia but raised no concerns when I asked about her eye discharge, not eating and lethargy. They said if she did not feel better by Thursday to call them. Friday came around and she was still not getting better. She looked so sick and skinny so I took her back to this vet. I had to go to work so I dropped her off for about four hours. The only thing they told my boyfriend and I was that they were going to "treat it like an upper respiratory infection." They gave us some antibiotics and sent us on our way. That same night my puppy was having trouble walking. I called them Saturday morning and asked the front desk if he could get in contact with the vet and let them know if it could be distemper. I NEVER got a call back. I ended up taking my puppy to my aunt who is a vet in Keller. She confirmed that it was distemper and we ended up having to put her down yesterday. I know there is no treatment for distemper but the fact that this animal hospital didn't listen to my concerns, didn't even mention the word "distemper" to me and never gave me a call when I said my baby was falling down just shows me how much the truly didn't care. read more

I am only 21 years old and my cat Luna is my first pet to have all my own. I love her to pieces but she was tearing all my stuff apart, so I made the difficult decision to have her claws removed. I took a lot of time researching different places and calling them to ask about their procedure. This place had good reviews and people were nice and helpful when I spoke to them on the phone. Fast forward a week when I am bringing Luna in: The place is nice and very clean, but I was thrown off by the semi rude and very impersonal service I received. I was very worried about this procedure and was hoping to feel comforted by the staff and service. However, the woman at the desk was too busy to answer any questions or concerns I had. Fast forward to the next day: I was picking my cat up and was hoping to have after care explained to me by a vet. However, I never got to speak with the vet or see them at all (I'm not even sure of their name). I will say the vet did a good job on the procedure and my cat healed very well and quickly. But when I get home, I discover my cat was covered in blood. I was expecting some on her feet, but weirdly this was the only clean place on her whole body. I had to use several wads of wet paper towels to clean the dried blood off of her. This tells me that my cat sat in a cage covered in her own blood all night and no one bothered to clean her. My cat doesn't do well with strangers but she was already asleep so I feel like she could have been cleaned off easily. It is very hard for a owner to see this and is primarily the reason I am leaving this review. I would be giving less stars if the vet hadn't done such a good job, although I never got to meet them. read more

I am not sure what the previous poster is talking about, I found Dr. Epstein to be incredibly informative, helpful and compassionate. Once I found out about all the help she gives rescues and shelters I knew she was the vet for me. While I hate to be the skeptic, I am always suspicious about a reviewer who posts a bad post about one company and a good post about another on the same day. This place isn't ritzy or anything and they definitely try to cut costs with things like having techs do shots instead of vets but they allow the customer to share in those savings. I took my dog to two other vets and if it wasn't for this vets office he would still be having seizures and would have never been diagnosed for the slipped disk in his back. They are crazy understanding of those on a budget and have worked very hard to help diagnose my senior pup. Can't say enough good things! read more

Wow!! This is the best vet I've ever been to. One of my cats gets incredibly angry and aggressive when at the vet, and everyone here was so calm and sweet with her. My last vet traumatized her by basically wrestling with her (wearing full on protective gear) until they got the shots done, but here they only needed towels (and patience) to get her injection taken care of! And my other cat wasn't scared of the vet at all, which is also unusual! I highly recommend taking your pets here. I can't overstate how impressed I was. read more

My family adopted a kitten from a local animal shelter, and she was sent to this veterinary office to be spayed. When the kitten was brought out to us the next day at the office, one of the assistants realized that someone had removed her stitches prematurely. they took the kitten back and put some staples in her incision. My Family and I thought this was a little sketchy, but we didn't linger on that thought for very long as we had a new pet to distract us. three days after this incident our kitten is in an animal hospital. we had to take her to the animal ER because she had been unable to keep down anything she ate or drank, and her skin around the staples had started to swell. the vet at the animal hospital did some X-rays and discovered that her stomach and intestines were full of air. this was caused by who ever doing the surgery man-handling our kitten's insides. the air filling her stomach left little room for vital food and water, and was pushing into the weak part of her incision. Maybe this was some sort of weird fluke, but I would not trust this veterinary office as far as i could throw it. Please, for the sake for your animals, DON'T SEND THEM HERE!! read more
