I've used Animal Hospital at Teasley for over 8 years. We've had a number of pets in their care including having an eye surgically removing on a black Labrador retriever; mega colon treatments on a persian cat.. etc. Big or small, major or minor, the first class care is second to none. Sure, the facilty isn't posh or fancy like many other ritzy veterinarian offices that seem to apeal more to the owners than pets. The Animal Hospital at Teasley provide top quality care at low cost, even pet medications are in line with 800-petmeds. To answer the 1 star lady with the puppy charged for 1 flea treatment pill. FYI: THEY WERE TRYING TO HELP YOU! Since puppies grow so fast, it's imperative that you get the correct medication according to it's weight. That's why they wanted you to come back in next month to weigh in. Buying 6 month supply of meds in advance for a dog that could double its weight in 2 months is not only foolish, waste of $$, but harmful to your dog if they're not getting the correct dosage. They did the same with my bulldog puppy... only now that he's at a weight where he won't get any heavier could I buy a box of Trifexis. I highly recommend them.

Best vet experience ever! Dr. Epstein helped us with Sparklemousse's bladder stone surgery expertly and compassionately. Quick surgery, free follow-ups, full credit on the subsequent exchange from canned to dry prescription food and lots of correspondence by phone and email. It's never been this easy to get in contact with a vet! Office staff was great, too. I should also note that the surgery cost only 1/4th of the price quoted by THREE other vets in the area and Dr. Epstein fixed Mousse's hernia at no extra charge. I couldn't believe those other vets were trying to charge so much!!! Dr. Epstein is knowledgeable, skilled, down to earth, compassionate, honest and fair. What more could you ask for in a vet?

This is such a great place. I have been taking my Yorky here for two years now. My dog was sick and they have given her excellent care. They are very affordable. The Vets and staff go above and beyond.

We previously used this vet for our French Bulldog, Moose. Unfortunately, this resulted in us losing a wonderful piece of our family. Several weeks ago Moose began having trouble urinating so we took him to see Dr. Epstein. He had crystals in his urine, which we were told was common for the breed. X-rays "revealed" that there were no stones and we were given antibiotics and headed home. We were also told that if stones formed, Dr. Epstein was fully capable of performing the surgery at a reasonable cost. As the week progressed Moose did not seem to be feeling any relief so I called to inquire about different options such as a catheter etc. I was told to stay the course and that neutering him would help alleviate the problem. Since the vet scheduled the procedure 10 days out, we had no indication that this could develop into a life threatening event. Moose seemed in good spirits but continued to have problems. I called again to check if a different option would be better, again we were told to stay on the antibiotics. I came home to find Moose in severe respiratory distress. I immediately called the vet and was told she was not in, but would be soon. Upon arrival, I was told they were unsure when Doctor Epstein would arrive and that I should take Moose to the neighboring vet. After a brief misdiagnosis by that vet, I was told that they were incapable of fixing the problem and that I needed to take Moose to the emergency room. I was charged over 200 dollars for that. We went to the emergency room where they performed more advanced imaging and determined THAT THERE WERE STONES, and his urinary track was completely blocked. There was no surgeon onsite, so I again called Dr. Epstein's office (during business hours) to inform them that it was a matter of life and death. Keep in mind that we had previously been told that the surgery would not be a problem. We were told that that ER was our best option...we lost Moose...to a totally routine and preventable situation that was allowed to become unmanageable. I called Dr. Epstein's office the next morning to let them know what happened. The staff apologized, but we never heard a peep from Dr. Epstein. Even the emergency room reached out to us, but not her, his vet. If your furry family members can't rely on the vet during an emergency, what is the point. RIP Moose

Do you take donations of dog food?

I am not sure if they do. But I can tell you that I know for sure that the Denton Animal Shelter does take food donations. They will even take opened dry food. I recommend you take the food to the shelter.

I live in Celina so it's quite a ways for me to drive to Denton but our regular vet had quoted us $1k-$1.2k for a dental cleaning for my 12 yr old cat. They said he had some tartar build up on his back molars and a bit of gingivitis in his gums and it will get worse if we don't get a cleaning done. Our pet insurance does not cover dental cleanings so it would be out of pocket. I was recommended Guardian pet Hospital from a cat rescue group on Facebook. When I called the receptionist was very friendly and quoted me $300. A phenomenal price considering what our vet was charging us. My cat went to get a pre screening done and everything was good to go! He got his cleaning done shortly after, appointment times weren't an issue and he did so well under anesthesia. The staff is very helpful and very kind and the price came out being even a little less than what they originally quoted me! I highly recommend coming here not just for the reasonable prices but also for the great experience and friendly staff. I am highly considering transferring all our pets to Guardian pet hospital even if it's a longer drive for us!

As my dog is diabetic (and has been for 2 years now), her feeding and insulin routine is of the utmost important to regulate her system. First, I was told they would accommodate her feeding/insulin schedule when I initially called, which is on a rolling 12-hour basis. However, when I was dropping her off, they then decided to tell me that they could not actually accommodate the times and it would be about a 8 hour cycle between feedings/insulin with a 16 hour gap. This destroys her medical routine, and leads to huge degradations in her energy and health. Then, the onsite staff were very rude to me about how to treat her. I have been following a 2 year routine now with my vet, but the staff told me their on-site vet knew better and they tried to change the medicine for her. What?!?! Finally, I included hand-crafted bags with measured food for each of my dog's meals. But after I picked her up, I noticed that they did not feed my dog during one of the meals as I had one of my bags returned to me!?! This means they completely skipped feeding her one morning/night which is first, entirely unacceptable, and second, extremely detrimental to her health and survival!! When I called and asked about it, and after being on hold for 20 minutes, I was given every excuse in the book (maybe we fed her food we have here (breaks her vet's prescription), or maybe you are delusional and you gave us too much food (it's not that hard to count 10 bags for 10 meals), "but yes we definitely fed her". Absolutely ridiculous, again, avoid these people at all costs!!

I currently care for over 21 dogs and have used Hooves and Paws extensively for years. In the last six months alone I have spent thousands of dollars here. They have handled nearly every aspect of my dogs' veterinary care -- including litters, C-sections, puppy evaluations, vaccinations, tail docks, dew claw removals, sick visits, and routine exams. In addition to owning many dogs, I am also a breeder and active exhibitor in the conformation and performance dog world, so veterinary care is something I take extremely seriously. I also own a grooming business and have referred many of my grooming clients, friends, and family members to this clinic over the years. Because of that long history and the amount of business I've brought through their doors, what happened today was incredibly disappointing. My dog has been urinating on herself and I suspected a UTI. She was last seen at this clinic about three months ago, so she is an established patient in their system. I called the clinic first thing this morning and asked what I needed to do. The receptionist told me I could collect a urine sample and bring it in for testing. So I did exactly that. I drove there with the urine sample, only to be told when I arrived that they would not test it unless I paid for a full exam as well, despite the fact that the dog was not even with me and I had followed the instructions I was given over the phone. Had I been told an exam was required, I would have simply brought her in so she could receive the treatment she likely needs. Instead, because of the incorrect information I was given, she now has to go another day potentially uncomfortable and possibly in pain while I make other arrangements. This is exactly the kind of experience that has become more and more common since the clinic went corporate. Prices continue to climb and it increasingly feels like clients are being nickel and dimed at every opportunity, even when it contradicts what they were told beforehand. What is most frustrating is that this situation could have been avoided with simple transparency. Had I been told on the phone that an exam would be required, I would have scheduled one or made other arrangements. Instead, I wasted my time making a trip based on incorrect information. After years of bringing significant business to this clinic -- both personally and through referrals -- today was the final straw. I will be moving all of my dogs' care elsewhere, and unfortunately I can no longer recommend Hooves and Paws to my grooming clients, friends, family, or fellow dog owners in the community. When a long-time client who manages a large number of dogs and regularly refers other pet owners feels this way, it should be taken seriously. As someone active in the breeder and dog show community, conversations about veterinary care come up frequently among fellow exhibitors, breeders, and pet professionals. Experiences like this inevitably become part of those discussions, which makes situations like today even more disappointing.

I expected I'd at least get a disc with the radiographs on them. Nope. All they did was hand me a prescription and sent me home. I didn't complain about my bill, I just paid it, but there are plenty of other clinics close to Denton who offer professional reasonable vet services and don't stick it to you with unnecessary or unfair charges. I highly recommend North Carrollton Veterinary Hosp. This is our Primary Vet. It is a bit of a hike from Denton, but it is worth it if you see Dr. Doolittle. She is extremely dedicated. (Compassion trumps profits at her clinic). Closer to Denton County: Argyle Vet Hosp, Guardian Vet Hospital, and Denton Vet Center are all highly recommended on Nextdoor. After trying a couple vets in Dallas, the urgent care vet referred me to Atlas for specialty support. We were there a lot and while we made progress, her bloodwork was still not great. And then her brother randomly got fluid in his belly. They were great about seeing me ASAP the week before a holiday and diagnosed him with FIP. They worked to get him medication that day from a local pharmacy on a weekend too. Unfortunately, FIP is still very fatal and he passed away a few days later. They were so kind when I told them. After his sister kept throwing up, we decided to treat her for FIP too. And she ended up doing so well! FIP only got an approved treatment last year, so many vets are not experienced with it. But Dr. (Daniel) Anthony was good about checking her progress and working with me on the most cost effective way to handle the many vet visits and lab work. I'm happy to share that she's officially cleared FIP treatment and observation protocol and she finally had normal bloodwork last month. She is super playful and loved to torment her big cat brother. We held off on her vaccines and spay because of everything, but she will be going to them next month for this too. I never have to wait long once I arrive and the front desk is always friendly. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep going for her regular visits since I live in South Dallas and the trek to Frisco is a lot, but their Saturday hours are a savior and if I lived closer, I'd stay a client forever.
