Started going to AHO in 2014 when I moved to Oshkosh with a senior dog. Mostly been more than satisfied. Recently had a bad/frustrating experience, but with a new doctor and tech. The doctor was good, but I felt rushed and she didn't stay long enough, or check back with me to see that all my questions were answered and that I was satisfied. I made a complaint and someone from management called me immediately to discuss my concerns. After a long conversation, I felt respected, heard, and trusted they would go the extra mile to make me comfortable and the care of my (service) dog with the excellence I've known for the past 12 years. read more

I do not like how they handle dying pets. I had a horrible experience w/my yorkie and now my mom's cat. I called to get the cat put down bcuz he needs to be and I'm told well we need a wellness exam first and there's no openings until tomorrow. are u kidding me. please let the cat suffer bcuz you have to make that extra $50. I immediately switched my dog to a new place bcuz I was still going there. I thought the issue w/my yorkie was a fluke but nope. it's all about the money read more

Receptionist think they know more than the vets and are rude. Stopped going about a year ago to switch to another vet after they refused to make an appointment for my very sick pet . Told me I would have to wait a month. When I made the comment I would have to find another vet , they responded "where would you like your records sent " . Mind you, we had several appointments cancelled at the last minute for other emergency appointments and we never complained because we understood, but when we needed an emergency appointment, we were declined. read more

Animal Hospital of Oshkosh has been our savior. Our dog broke his leg and found himself in need of weekly checkups. Without ever having seen him before, they jumped right in to be there for us during his high maintenance treatments and the demanding schedule that comes with it. It is without a doubt that every single person in their building is interested and invested in healing our pup and supporting us through what is proving to be a slow, frustrating, expensive (but fairly priced) and heartbreaking road. All the little things they do to encourage, treat and troubleshoot are above and beyond the care we've received at other veterinary offices in the past. I can't say enough good things and will never be able to express the depth of my appreciation. read more

Recently moved to Oshkosh and was told great things about this place. Brought in my dog for her yearly checkup/vaccinations and could not be happier. My dog is fear reactive towards other dogs. I let them know this in advance and they had it set up so we went right into the examination room. The entire staff is super friendly and all said hi to my dog. The vet suggested a few vaccinations that are needed in Wisconsin but was not pushy at all with having to get them done. Same thing with the vet tech and getting a blood screening. They suggested it without being the least bit pushy. The cost was very reasonable and at the time of this posting they accept CareCredit. I look forward to bringing my dog here over the coming years. read more

I would give them a 0 if I could. We had been going there for 25+ years. Something has changed over the past 3-5 years. They really do not care about vet care anymore. Any real vet care is referred to the Resource Center in Appleton. They are now more interested in gimmicks, $350 teeth cleanings, $50 nail clippings, overpriced training classes. Had one of my dogs with a what turned out to be a minor eye injury and was told when I arrived, sorry but we close in five minutes no one could see her I would have to go to the Resource Center. Brought in a stool sample crawling with worms and was told test came back negative for worms, still had to pay $48 for the test. Brought in another sample of just the worms, was told they could not tell what kind of worms they were but could pay $54 for chewable that you can buy online for $9.54. I'm ok with making a profit but a 600% mark up. When I questioned the markup, I was told they didn't like my tone, I told them I didn't like their service so I guess we can call it a draw. The staff at the front desk will watch the phone ring but are more interested in the photos on their personal phone. Asked them to send me the records for both my dog and would go elsewhere. Best decision I have made in a long time. Go anywhere else, they are not worth the frustration. read more

This facility was one of the ONLY facilities accepting new patients during COVID so we brought my Yellow Lab in to see Dr. Heidi and both her and her tech were fabulous! They took their time to get to know my dog and base their care off of his needs. He is a very submissive dog and has a hard time without me in the room with him and they took such good care of him. Dr. Heidi took it upon herself to suggest breaking up his appointment into two appointments to prevent a traumatic experience for my dog and I really appreciated her accepting that my dog just needs more 1-on-1 time to get the job done and was more than willing to accommodate him. They accepted my CareCredit and have blown me away with their service both times I've been to them so far. I highly recommend the Animal Hospital of Oshkosh! read more

We enjoyed several years of positive experiences with the Animal Hospital and Dr. Becky. However, as our longtime dog was recently nearing the end and was suffering, the response from the doctor was nonexistent!! We were left hanging at our time of greatest need. We have never received ANY response or acknowledgment from the doctor regarding our loss and the issues we experienced at the end of her life. It made an already sad situation that much worse for our family, and was truly disappointing. read more

The husband always took our dog here when we lived in Oshkosh, so I can't speak to that experience. However, we recently moved to Alabama, so at his final check-up in April, the husband was given one dose each of Nexgard and Heartgard to get us started, since the dog will obviously need extra protection in the land of ticks and mosquitoes. I gave him the first doses before we moved and marked my calendar for a month later. Of course, these are prescription items, and thus can't just be obtained at your local Petco. A call to the office with my predicament yielded a suggestion -- they offer an online portal where you can order these items. Great! I promptly created an account (they ask for name and species of the animal) and placed an order. When I received an email saying that the order had not been approved, I was annoyed, but assumed that it was because I had created the account in my name, not the husband's, who had always been the one to take the dog in. Ok, fine, I created another account in his name and placed a new order. When that one was also not approved, I called the office to find out just what was going on. After waiting on hold for the receptionist to check with someone, it transpired that they were currently offering a rebate if you came and purchased the medications in person, so they were "helpfully" cancelling our orders so that we could get the rebate. Except that, as I pointed out to her, the shipping address was in Alabama, their own office had told me to order online, and without further communication as to WHY our orders were being cancelled (I had to list my phone number on the order), we had no way of knowing what was going on. Additionally, at this point there were now FOUR pending charges on my credit card, and I was *somehow* disconnected during the call. Right... I ultimately had to place a third order online (not a super quick process), as they could not re-approve an order that had already been rejected. The charges eventually got sorted out and I was only charged once, but sheesh, what a pain for something that was supposed to be a convenience! Since it's the only place I can get these meds, I guess I'll order again in six months when I need more, but this just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I found out my dog has a tumor. I called to get a second opinion as to how to proceed. I made the appointment with this so called vet business. Two days later, I get a phone call that says in order for me to keep my appointment, I need to make a $50 deposit. Each employee that I talked with was very rude and said that the doctors time was so valuable that if I didn't make the deposit, the appointment that I had already scheduled for my sick dog was going to be cancelled. Talk about a veterinarian who cares more about money than animals. DON'T USE THIS VET! read more

Although very competent and capable staff and an excellent facility, both of my most recent visits have generated concerns. A Thyroid test was to be sent to Michigan State University for analysis, however it was never sent in, resulting in a delay of several weeks for results along with a return visit for a 2nd blood draw. Most recently when our Springer was diagnosed with a torn ACL, the vet advised us that she would be coordinating surgery location and date the following day. After not hearing back in two days, I called back to follow-up, only to be told that the vet had been off the past two days and no follow up had been done. The sooner the surgery can be done, the more likely a successful outcome, so the delay is dissappointing. read more

I have trusted the Animal Hospital of Oshkosh with all of my furry family. They have taken wonderful care of all of them. Our dog Molly, a beagle, had A rough go of things throughout her life. She just got dealt a bad hand in life. Dr Heidi took such amazing care of her. I felt like if she didn't know something, she did her best to take the time to research and do whatever possible to help our girl. When she didn't know how to help, she didn't pretend to know the answers, she referred to the Appleton Anima Hospital. I trusted her completely to give me the best advice on how to take care of our baby. I can't recommend this vet enough. They truly care about animals and do what's best for them. read more

Another update. We had a longterm illness with our 13 year old cat and it was so stressful. He was my baby and I was so worried for him. I was concerned taking him back after one of my other experiences (see previous reviews) but we were in urgent need of care and they got us in pretty quickly. We saw Dr. Diane and vet techs Sarah and Amber. They were phenomenal! Dr. Diane worked so hard to take care of our kitty and she kept telling me not to thank her when I did because she felt like she wasnt sure what to do. In her defense, it was a weird issue, it ended up being a immune disorder, which is so hard to treat and test for. She never gave up, she would call me personally and address all my concerns and when I left her voicemails, she always returned my calls. I would call there almost weekly with questions and all the staff was so nice and understanding. I'm a worried cat mom, so I was so touched with their kindness. The staff is super knowledgable, I always get answers when I call to ask questions and if the person answering the phone doesn't have an answer, they go ask a tech or Dr and my calls are returned the same day. They give quotes of low and high estimates so we knew exactly what we had to prepare for. Unfortunately, our boy passed. He was not getting better and he stopped eating. It was such a hard decision to make. The day we brought him in, he was supposed to get a wound check and we told CVT sarah what we decided. She immediately took us to a quiet room with a couch and sat down and discussed our kitty's situation with us, even going over some of his records. She took the time to ask questions, explain what would happen and address our concerns. She was honest with us about the danger of us being with him as they sedated him and I appreciated that. While they were sedating him, a very nice lady came in to take our payment and it was a no-stress topic. This was discussed prior to anything being done, but she was professional and quick and I appreciated that. Money was a huge stress for us, but we didn't want our boy to suffer and the money issue must be a very stressful thing to discuss and take care of when an animal is passing. When he was sleeping, they brought him and we spent some time with him and the techs put him in my lap so I could hold him as he passed. The doctor who came in (i forget her name) was so kind, spoke quietly and softly, had a compassionate tone of voice and explained what was happening as it happened. Sarah came in and took his paw print in some clay, so we had a memorial. This is something I wanted to do, but was unsure they even had that option. It was only $10 extra to have it and having this memorial is so priceless. Sarah was so sweet, she let us leave through a back door so that we could go quietly and she was so compassionate and understanding. Putting a fur baby down is never a good experience, but having a kind and professional staff makes it a little easier. I can't express my gratitude with their hard work and loving kindness with our kitty. They went above and beyond my expectations and I will always be so grateful for that. We have two other kitties and a new kitten and we will be taking them all in for their annuals and for any issues in the future. Also, another great thing is that I can request our kitty's records, invoices and even price estimates through email. It's probably better to call, so you get an answer right away, but due to my school schedule, I only have a moment usually so shooting a email that doesn't need a quick reply is so helpful. read more

We moved here from Florida and have a parrot and a dog. AHO was the only hospital in the area that will even look at a bird. The staff and doctor were friendly, concerned, helpful, and took time with us. We transferred records of both of our pets to AHO with great confidence in their care. read more

Animal Hospital of Oshkosh is a clean place to go. Staff is pretty friendly and not too judgemental. They are just too expensive for everything. They have way to many employees standing around all the time which might be why it's expensive (your paying their salaries). They don't really think about budgets and I found out after spending hundreds on meds that they have an online store that is a little cheaper. They never mentuoned that until the 3rd time I complained about it being to costly. read more

Our dog cut himself while we were away from our home in Racine and Dr. Diane agreed to see him as an emergency on a Friday afternoon! She stitched him up and had us on the road in no time.
