They responded pretty quick and told us the pups were going to be at an event they were hosting. They gave us the times, days and location. We went and got to meet him and ask any questions we had and then were able to make our decision and follow thru with the adoption. The process was very easy and they walked through all the steps wonderfully. It never felt rushed. We were able to get our pups paperwork and vet records up to that point. The rescue covers the cost of the neuter/spay if the pup is not yet fixed which was very nice. The process of scheduling that was very simple. The team and K9's4u is so helpful and kind. We love our pup so much and would definitely recommend adopting thru this rescue!

I trained him up, gave him a job and skills. He became part of my family and my kids bonded with him I paid for an expensive surgery when he got hurt. Then he started showing signs of abnormal behavior changes and severe aggression. I asked the rescue for help and eventually when they did not help and when he severely and relentless attacked and almost killed another horse at my barn, I decided I needed to return him for the safety of him, other horses, and my kids. After bringing him back in tears, the owner/president relentlessly attacked me in messages, on Facebook, wherever she could. She accused me of lying, turned friends against me, bashed my name wherever she could. It hurt me so badly to lose him and to be attacked I had depression for months. Not to mention given she supposedly works for another job I don't know how she thinks she can behave like such an unprofessional bully. I learned not to trust rescues but if I rescue I do it myself.

I've only been to Pet Central once, but unfortunately it didn't leave the greatest impression on me. I am specifically concerned about the reptiles there. They are all kept on sand, which can be harmful for small reptiles, as it can cause impaction in many species. They had a nice assortment of Leopard geckos, but out of their three tanks not one had a mossy humid hide for them to shed in. They also had UVB bulbs lit which can be harmful to their eyesight if exposed to for long periods of time. Their Blue-Tongued Skink also looked uncomfortable with sand stuck to his feet. Maybe they keep the leopard geckos in a different tank at night, or bathe all their reptiles to assist in their shedding. But from the living conditions I saw, it made me very nervous if I were to ever buy a reptile from there. I want to like this store, but I'm worried for the reptiles that are being kept there.

She could never fit our dog in because she was sick or many other excuses. I would suggest that people not pay ahead for her services as she is both unreliable and she won't return messages. They have new management the last several years and as someone who works at the kennel they house…read moretheir rescues, I can tell you that I see their operation up close and having worked with several breed rescues over the years, that they are beyond exceptional. They are careful about adopting the dogs out but they get a lot of repeat and multiple boxer adopters for a reason. These dogs do not get returned because it wasn't a great fit. And they get the dogs turned around and into loving homes remarkably quickly. They take the dogs out of their kennels for of the day into play yards, on walks or outings, put them all thru obedience training, and continue the support for adopters once the dog has been adopted. They have a great group of volunteers as well. They will be honest about the needs of the dog, and if the one you got excited about looking on their website isn't a great fit, they will introduce you to dogs that might be, often leading to a great result for everyone. Please take some of the negative reviews from years ago with a grain of salt. Those people are no longer running the rescue and the ones who have been for last 3 years are a joy to work with. (PS - I fostered a hospice boxer/pittie for them and their support was fantastic the entire time I had her).

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.
