Terrible TERRIBLE. There's pups who need to be adopted and the lady, ALONDRA, who i believe runs this organization is very condescending, rude and egotistical. She called me to follow up for adopting a pup. I was asked many reasonable question which was expected. But when I'd answer, she would cut me off almost every single time. I don't even think she realizes herself how rude it is to cut people off after asking them a question. But whatever, I let it slide. The conversation ended after she told me she'd send me the location of where the adoption site would be for the following weekend. After the conversation ended i had a screenshot of two puppies i was interested in meeting from Petfinder. She told me they were brother and sister. but both puppies profiles had different descriptions such as breed and age. So i just wanted to clarify with her which one was correct. She sent me the link to the ARWOB website. (Which also shows the profiles to not be cohesive.) and then her response was just extra, unnecessary and rude and sarcastic. One comment she sarcastically made was asking if i got my dog DNA tested to know her breed. Didn't even address my main concern, which was simply the clarification of the differences in profiles. I tried to follow up again to get the location of the adoption site and she ignored me. It sucks because there's dogs to be adopted but she is not a kind or easy human to do business through. Would never recommend this organization to anyone because of her and only her. read more

We "rescued" our Annie (formerly Rochan) in July 2025. We were introduced to her at our local Kearny Mesa Off Leash Dog Park which we go to every morning, 7 days a week. Our dog, Dillon, picked her out of the group frolicking and meeting everyone. She is white with beige spots. When Annie came over to say HI! He turned and looked at me saying "can she stay with us?" She is 1/2 the size of Dillon but has the exact same coloring white with beige spots. Weird. He followed her every where. We hardly ever say no to Dillon, Annie is really Dillon's dog. They play together all day long. Our cat Jake followed her around all day grooming her the day we brought her home and gave his hardy approval. They also play together constantly. She truly is, a perfect fit to our family. Thanks ARWOB for finding her for us. Everyone can be assured Animal Rescuers Without Borders loves all their animals and takes great care with them. If you cannot adopt, give them some food, or old blankets they can use the for animals. read more

I highly recommend ARWOB if you are looking to adopt a precious little Mexican street dog! They do an amazing job of rescuing those in need and taking care of their medical problems. They are a wonderful organization that is run by one of my former veterinary technician students, Alondra, and she has dedicated her life to rescuing the less fortunate animals in Mexico. We went to the Halloween Mega Adoption event. We started out at 10a watching the event set up. We spent the day visiting 15+ rescues and adoption booths. After 4 hours of visiting and checking out animals, we went back to ARWOBSD as we had set our heart on a puppy. We stayed at the event and filled out an application. We were immediately called back. They provided what was needed (video and LL permission). We spent the next few days working through the requirements. We were told on the last day they would be going to another family, we stated we understood but still wanted to adopt. We were then asked if we were available the next day for a pick up, we immediately said yes. We arrived the next day at the arranged time and location, to be told the puppy had been adopted out to another family. ALL communications had been through text and phone call. They stated, we sent you an email last night. After 20+ text and phone calls, why would we be on the lookout for a random email? As you see in the picture from the adoption agency, she asked if we could pick up(614p), we immediately responded yes(614p). We were asked about time and location. Why would you propose a time and date if you were going with another family? Besides the heartbreak, we are out time, money, all because of bad communication. We as a family have lost trust in this organization. read more

I adopted a bonded pair of 2 year old kitties over the summer and I was impressed with the efforts this group did to make sure myself and my home we're safe to adopt, but also the care they took for the cats before I took them home. They were rescued from a high kill shelter and they took care of their vet bills to get them healthy enough to adopt, and continually after adopting them they check in on them. These kitties are wonderful and I'm so glad to have them part of our family! They are so friendly and cuddly and you'd have no idea what theyve been through. Thanks Alondra and team! We adopted our newest feline family member last October. Allie is a smart, sweet kitty that loves to sit on our laps and sleep with us. She loves to do tricks in exchange for a cat treat. On the ARWOB website, I was able to see lots of pictures and videos of Allie. I filled out the detailed application online, then went to meet her at her foster's house. Their website pictures and description were very accurate in terms of her personality. She is the sweetest, healthiest little cat and we love her so much! She loves to play with us and cuddle with us and is extremely inquisitive. She just had her first vet visit since adoption and the vet was very happy with how healthy she is. We had such a wonderful experience with ARWB, we were able to adopt a 3-year-old Collie that has become a part of our family. Alondra, Mary, and the volunteers were very helpful throughout the entire adoption process. We wanted to make sure that it would be a good fit with our first pet so they offered the option of fostering first. We knew that introducing a new dog to our home would present some challenges but the folks at ARWB were very helpful in responding to emails and texts to help us out with the challenges that arose during those first few weeks. In addition, they provided us with a free online training service that helped us in training and acclimating the dog into our home. Three months later our adopted dog Oreo is happy and doing well, he loves playing with our first pet regularly. I appreciate all the work that ARWB does to make sure that they are finding the perfect stable homes for these animals so that they don't end up back in shelters. I *REALLY* want to bring to attention the unscrupulous practices of this place. Instead of a "rescue" this place is more like a "Animal Confinement With Tight Borders". I've looked into adopting a kitten and his bonded pair here last May, and came back again while buying cat food and STILL SAW THE SAME CAT (now much bigger) still available for adoption, but without the pair (WTF?). The part that REALLY pisses me off is that the description read: "Flounder loves to run around in open spaces" while he sits confined in this tiny little space (see pics). His mental and physical state are undoubtedly stunted from being confined to this little box. I was rejected for Flounder and the bonded pair without reason, but since then I have two extremely spoiled cats from a different org who love running around a 1680 sq ft house. It is as if they do not want to adopt out their cats and prefer them to suffer in solidarity. Out of all the organizations I've visited this is by far the worst living conditions I've seen. I really think this organization should be investigated for bordering (ha) on animal cruelty and enslavement. They are doing way more harm than good for these poor cats! Edit: I would love to amend this review if a good reason was provided for keeping these cats confined here so long, but until then, I am keeping this up. read more

Should have checked reviews before I wasted my time, seems like others have had the same experience. Pre-adoption phone call was hostile, seemed like they thought I lied on my application and questioned my responses. Took offense to a couple of my responses, even though this is a good home for a kitty. I make sure I have insurance, and all wellness checks for my own kitten at home and was looking for another kitten to keep her company. Obviously not good enough, since my application was denied. This may read like a bitter review, but really I'm just curious with the level of hostility they use for their rigorous screening how they find adopters at all. read more
