Came here to get pet food for my dogs. They are senior pups that have been going through it while transitioning to a new food recommended by their vet. We decided to put them back on what they have been eating their whole lives which is Fromm's. I needed food same day so I went to the Fromm's website to see retailers and this popped up. It is within walking distance of work so I went in. They had a good selection of flavors and bag sizes of the food I needed. Pricing was similar to what I would pay if ordered online. Person at the front desk was so nice. We chatted about how I wasn't sure if this was their location as the photo on the website of their business did not look like the outside. I pulled it up on my phone and showed them and they identified it as a location in Arizona. Stated they would let their vendor know and thanked me for bringing it to their attention. I would definitely stop back in if I need more food or other treats for my pups. read more

I take my dog to Paw Commons for daycare and boarding regularly. I have to call out Diana for her amazing service and hospitality. She is such a warm light, always going the extra mile to help out and make me feel welcome. She always gives feedback and specifics on how my dog did, which makes the whole experience feel really personal and boutique. It's honestly rare to find someone who makes that kind of impression just from front desk interactions, but she really does. Every time I see her I know my dog is in good hands. Pros:The staff is very kind and friendly. Cons:The facility is set up like an animal shelter. The standard "suites" are kennels with plastic doors and are not soundproof, so dogs constantly hear other dogs barking or panicking unless you pay extra for an upgraded "suite" (similar to setups at the San Diego Humane Society). Webcams are only available in the play areas unless you pay for that upgrade, so there is no way to monitor your dog while they're in regular boarding. Playgroups are divided into "large" and "smaller" dogs, with "smaller" defined as up to 45 lbs -- something that is not clearly communicated or written on the website. I saw a golden retriever in the small dog group a one point, which raises serious concerns about how size and safety are handled. The facility is understaffed. At times, I saw one employee responsible for both kennel areas. There were piles of urine and feces left in play areas, dogs running through them, and periods where dogs were not actively supervised. The large and small dog areas face each other with only the fence to divide them, which creates unnecessary reactivity. Most concerning, my dog came home with dried urine and feces stuck to his belly and paws. When I brought it up, I was told "that happens sometimes." It took me an hour to fully bathe and brush him out due to matting from laying in urine. The kind staff unfortunately does not make up for the lack of cleanliness, supervision, and transparency issues. For a business of this size and reported revenue, these conditions for the dogs and employees are unacceptable. Update: After I posted this review, the manager, Jasmine, contacted me and claimed my dog's condition was due to "aggressive behavior." However, he was only there for two days, and no aggression was ever communicated to me or documented in his report cards. When I questioned the lack of documentation, Jasmine simply said, "Sorry about that." If his behavior had truly impacted his care, I would have expected immediate notification and written documentation -- not an explanation offered only after I raised concerns about him running into doors, stumbling, and having urine and poop all over him. read more

What a relief to know that Diana and all the staff are there to welcome Captain Nemo. He is always happy to be there and greet the staff. Although he is happy to see me when it's time to go home, there is always a bit of reluctance on his part to leave the staff and their hugs. Highly recommend for day or overnight boarding. read more

I took my 7 yr old JRT there for an overnight stay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. They explained options thoroughly. The online registration process was easy and vaccine requirements were clear. The absolutely only issue is limited parking in the front when dropping off and picking up. I brought my (new to me) dog, Ruthie, to Paw Commons for her first grooming appointment. I've only had her for a few weeks but she was looking pretty scruffy. I wasn't sure how she would do with a groomer, she's sooo friendly but attached to her humans. But she did great!! Both Carly (amazing evaluation and behavioral expert) and Amy (pup groomer guru) were wonderful! I had the best time at Paw Commons when we first visited for our initial doggy daycare test appointment. I was flustered and late when arriving as I had lost transportation to drive, though only 1.5 miles down the way from PC. I was just a few minutes late, but staff was super kind and empathetic, settling me and just starting the conversation in the right direction. Carly was super informative, actively listened, and exuded genuine connection and kindness towards me and my pup, Finn. We spent time discussing his background and other elements of Finn/my lifestyle, and Carly was very attentive and mindful to what would work best for us in terms of care. I arrived four hours later to hear about Finn's great assessment and play with the other pups. Carly and I identified areas for the team to focus on (the less skillful habits of my 10-month old Shepard/mix rescue) but felt overall great about his future at PC. Carly even went a step further and heard me share that Finn's nails were super sharp bc the Humane Society didn't cut them during his neuter as expected. She recruited the great Amy who is a master groomer and I have NO idea how she shaped those gritty nails of Finn so quickly! I was blown away. I purchased a 20-visit package and felt super assured that not only my pup could be supported at the drop of a whim we I needed the PC team, I realized that this team really cares and welcomes the love of each animal, even with their slight "imperfections" haha (still a puppy - likes to bark and eat poop - working on it!!). i had my 2 dogs boarded here as we were going on an out of country trip about 2 months ago. we did the evaluation and were told they were a good to go for boarding. what I DO like about this place is that the staff is very friendly and you have access to see your pups on live stream! :) okay so now the hard part: 1. so when we first dropped them off i asked for the extra service for one of my dogs to have a bath and the other a groom/trim. when picking them up , it appeared they both got a bath and the one i requested a groom for did not get their groom. its fine no big deal 2. however, what was a bit of a big deal was that one of my dogs got an EAR INFECTION from the bath. it made me feel the ones who are grooming/ bathing the dogs aren't properly taking care of my pet when bathing them . 3. when watching the live cams one day i saw my dogs hanging out (cool !) however after a few minutes i saw a pitty starting to harrass my pitty as well as another pitty in the play room . my pitty and the other pitty that was being harassed were perfectly fine together until that third pitty came in. i was hoping id see one of the caretakers place the harrassing pitty in the other bigger dog area and close them off from mine and the other pitty. NOPE. i watched this go one for over 10 min watching my dog and the other pitty get harrassed by that pitty with no intervention whatsoever. was there anyone there to see? did they not care or see the behavior of what was going on? mind you this pitty was not bothering any other dogs besides those two. eventually they opened the second dog fence and the harrassing dog luckily chose to go over on their own and away from mine. the tension quickly went away the moment that dog left and i saw my dog relax. 4. also not only did one of my dogs get an ear infection- both got kennel cough during their stay :( theyve never got it before and im happy they were vaccinated so it didnt hit them crazy hard and i understand that when taking them to a boarding facility theres that risk but it was such a bummer how it was just another thing that happened here and seeing them being sick was so upsetting i appreciate that my dogs did not come back traumatized and im glad they have the option for a bigger suite and that theyre not in a cage all day. however im not too sure if id be comfortable bringing my dogs back here based on those things . everyones experience is different mine was just fine but for the price it should've been 100% amazing but what can you do read more

These very "unprofessional groomers" shaved my 10 month old Cavapoo puppy after I specifically told them to call me if they were unable to groom my puppy as depicted in the picture I showed them upon arrival. Then charged me $140 after they estimated $75-$90. They completely ruined his beautiful coat of hair. If I had wanted to shave him I could've done that on my own for nothing. I had a great experience with Paw Commons! I got my dog groomed with the premium package and he loved it! The staff was so friendly and you could tell they were excited to hang out with the pups. They were very responsive to his body language and how he felt about certain grooming items. They saw that he didn't like the blow dryer so they put him in a separate kennel that has light air blowing to help dry him! He came out so soft and smelling good! They even put a little bandana on him, he looked so handsome! They also had a punch card that the from desk, but it is only punched when you get the premium package for grooming. Once the card is full, you get 50% the 7th visit. For a small dog (13 lb.) we paid a little under $50. They have their parking located right in front of the building but there weren't too many spots. read more

I flew to San Diego over a month ago and I ended up choosing to leave my fur baby (Campanita) at Paw Commons Pet Resort. Yelp reviews heavily influenced my decision. It was scary initially after reading some of the negative reviews. This was the first time Campanita stayed away from us. I needed to ensure that she was in a good place that would take care of her. I called and the representative that assisted me over the phone (Sharon) was very patient with me. She answered all the questions I had and followed up the phone conversation with an email. Prior to Campanita's stay, I needed to ensure she had all of her vaccinations and I had to send them proof. I forgot about it for about a week but they kindly reminded me via email and text message (as I had requested). The day we dropped her off I was super nervous because Campanita is very attached to us. I did not catch their names but there was a guy and a girl. They were both super sweet with Campanita. The guy even sat on the floor to interact with her. He offered her treats. Of course, she was not interested because she probably had a feeling of what was going to happen. Long story short, Campanita ended up staying and I was able to monitor her during "play time." By the way, I had initially requested to have her play with the other dogs in the doggy care for 6 hours total per day. However, since Campanita was so anxious they ended up doing only 3 hours (and they did not charge me for the 6 hours as I had initially requested). I wanted an update a few hours after I dropped her off, so I requested it via text and I received one shortly after. I also received a report card with Campanita's picture. My sister is the one that picked her up two days later and she said that the girl who was taking care of her was super sweet. Campanita came back to us with no scratches, no fleas, no cuts. She cam back very loving and she now behaves better when around other dogs. If I were to be in San Diego again I would totally leave Campanita at Paw Commons Pet Hotel. I recommend it! read more

I dropped off our 7 month old golden retriever for a 4 night stay. it was both of our first times being away from each other. As soon as I walked in they made me feel great about the whole process. the labels his food, made sure he had his toys and treats and took him off to open play with the other dogs. He was in the premium room which I think he loved, tv and all. I was able to watch him from the cameras during play time which made me feel great. I picked him up this past Saturday and he was so happy to see me but more importantly he was clean and smelled great after playtime bath. Bonus points because they sent me a report card on his adorableness. Also-shout out to Daphne for being awesome and making sure my puppy was well taken care of. I cannot overstate how incredible the Paw Commons team is. I brought my puppy to a few of the Saturday puppy socials and eventually signed her up for the 2-week puppy camp. Her first night there, she started showing signs of a possible UTI. The team was so communicative around this, keeping me updated with everything going on and consulting me on next steps. They did need to take her to the vet and when it didn't seem like she'd be able to be seen that same day, the CEO of Paw Commons helped make it happen.
