We had a great experience here - friendly staff, quick diagnosis, and helpful tips to make our pup more comfortable until her health issue clears up. I do have to take one star because it took several tries to get through to someone on the phone in order to book an appointment, but the process can be sped up quite a bit for new clients by filling out the new pet form on their website *before* calling (and then they call you back fairly quickly after submission of that form). I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Landry and his staff. Our kitty Gabby had a melting corneal ulcer and was very likely headed toward needing the eye removed. Gabby is about 16 and has been undergoing treatment for lymphoma for over a year by the time she was diagnosed with this ulcer in February 2025. It is now Memorial Day 2025 and her affected eye has almost completely cleared and is much less cloudy. We did have to adhere to an aggressive eye drop regime for over three months and Gabby had to wear an e-collar the entire time, but the results were better than we all could have anticipated. I wouldn't never hesitate to recommend Dr. Landry and the Animal Vision Center. I would get bouts of paranoia and would send in pictures worrying that her condition was worsening, but would always get a prompt response assuring me that she was healing slowly, as expected. I was a client for years and recently we had a disagreement and yes I did say something I shouldn't said on the phone and they decided to not let me be a client anymore which is fine. However, between that and me scheduling a new appointment, I needed some eye drops for my dog who has been seen by them for the last 6 years. Not to mention I paid well over $10,000 and vet fees. They were amazing. We initially were able to get an apointment in two weeks, but an opening came up yesterday. They called me see if I wanted it. The reception desk and especially the doctor and her assistants were amazing. We were able to get a diagnosis right away, meds and a follow up appointment within the hour. We are so relieved we know what is going on and more importantly, we felt we were in very professional, knowledgable and caring hands. Also, they have a beautiful facility. So grateful! My cat is now 18 months and originally saw Dr. Landry as a very young kitten (my vet recommended seeing a vet that specializes in eyes). I had NO idea what to expect. The first appointment was within a few days of calling, as it was Urgent but not EMERGENCY. The staff were (and still are accommodating). They explained the cost for the first visit and explained about the paperwork and fees if I needed to cancel, they also send an e mail with the same information, so make sure you read it. My cat will have a lifetime of eye issues (due to feline herpes virus). I know with both veterinarians he is in loving, caring, capable hands. When he has flare ups I send pictures and we go with a game plan, the staff is excellent on following up, friendly and understanding. I love everyone here read more

Vets are never a place you wanna have to take your pet as it is stressful and usually not so fun. But Animal Vision Center was so calming to my dog and I could tell he was very comfortable there. We had to get a little surgery to remove a hair follicle inside my puppy's eye and the team was amazing. They explained the entire procedure to me and what to expect - very upfront about payment and aftercare. My pup is doing really well as if he never even had the procedure! DO NOT TRUST THIS VET. HE TORTURED MY DOG FOR A RESEARCH PAPER. When Dr. Landry was at another eye clinic he was my dog's ophthalmologist for glaucoma. The dog's breed was prone to glaucoma. it was a very long and painful treatment to try to save one eye and then the next. My dog was getting 22 drops a day, all the while in significant pain. There were weeks were he was at the clinic everyday to control the disease and the pain. This went on for months, my dog shaking in pain. Landry straight up told me he was writing a paper on him. It wasn't until I told the front desk to switch docs that the truly sadistic treatment of Landry became blinding clear. The other vet was furious that Landry was torturing an animal for so long by with holding treatment (removing the eye) to further his research! My dog had his last eye taken out the next day by the owner of the clinic ( who is beloved by every vet in the state!) at no charge. He was disgusted and knew no apology would ever suffice. Landry lost his job at a Seattle eye clinic because he was abusive and incompetent. ASK HIM! DO NOT TRUST THIS VET. HE ABUSED MY DOG. read more

The doctors are excellent and I feel like my dog is taken care of. The scheduling is outdated, there is no way to schedule an appointment over email and they have a phone only policy, so expect to play phone tag when you're trying to make an appointment during the workday. Got a lecture from the front office about calling too much to get an appointment scheduled. read more

I wanted to wait for a few months to see how my dog's eye healed up before writing a review. My dog had a tumor on his lower eyelid. I took him to his regular vet who informed me that surgery was necessary to remove the tumor, and that it would cure the growth. They performed surgery on the eye, removing tissue and then informed me that they could not take enough tissue out and that the tumor would likely grow back. Indeed, several weeks later we could already see the growth returning. At the advice of a friend we took him to Animal Vision. They did a thorough examination of both eyes which was reassuring, and gave a clean bill of health for his vision except for the growth on the lower eyelid. They explained I had 2 choices with the treatment - a freezing technique or surgery, and gave me the statistical likelihood of both outcomes being successful (neither being completely 100%). They didn't pressure me on either recommendation. I took the option to freeze the mass and surrounding tissue. This was done in late 2023. Today his eye still looks perfect, the easier (and cheaper) treatment option has stopped the growth, I hope permanently. This was not cheap, but considering the wasted money on the prior unsuccessful surgery and current situation with a healthy eye I am very happy to have gone to this provider, and will again in future if needed for any of my animals. read more

Unpleasant and too many unnecesary fines/fees... My pup (4 mos) was hit in the face by a family members cat. His primary vet recommended an eye specialty, and I immediately reached out to veterinary eye clinics. The fees at Animal Vision Center add up with little regard and seem arbitrary. The initial visit cost me over $750. Their $460 initial intake does not cover the tonemetry (pressure check), tear, and stain tests. This is covered by most vision centers with their initial exam fee. They also do not ask if you want a prescription, but add on drugs in-house at a much higher cost than retail pharmacies. Additional visits are around $300. They also noted the cone that was provided by my primary vet was inappropriate and advised their cone, which was added to the bill. My dog was able to reach his eye with their cone using his back legs. It is hard to accept exorbitant costs especially when it comes with unpleasant service. I want to note there are good individuals working there, but I had consistently poor experiences with certain members that really overshadowed the performance of their team. The first visit, I had a staff criticize me for allowing a puppy to be near a cat. My family member had moved into my home and it was an unfortunate accident. I already felt terrible for my pup - it just added insult to injury. This happened at the next visit as well. It was very uncomfortable with each visit at Animal Vision Center. Fortunately, the lens of his eye was not impacted, but discharge has been appearing in both eyes. I called to get him in again and I was told by staff that a previous client canceled for the following day. I had to take a medical emergency call and missed the appointment. I called immediately after to apologize and see if I could reschedule. They were clearly annoyed and noted that I would need to put in a $210 deposit and pay a $75 cancelation fee. I understand their vet could've taken another client and I would've been inclined to pay these fines, but I was done with their attitudes and fees. They request changes in scheduling with their clients but at the same time find it appropriate to behave so indignant when a client needs to do the same. The vet made the call to add the fines - it seems more business oriented here. I might have been fine with the bills at first, but I can imagine this really discourages people from finding medical help for their animals. The environment was very defensive and they were taking advantage of every opportunity to add fees. read more

I was desperate to try and get my 16 year old fur baby into a eye specialist. Something was wrong with his eye, and my vet was unable to help with his pain. She was able to get us into AVC - they were so understanding and got us in immediately. My pup had to have emergency surgery to remove his eye. So far so good. They have been responsive and generally concerned about managing his pain. We are only a couple days into our treatment - but I have been extremely happy thus far. Dr Waler and her staff have been nothing less than terrific. I highly recommend. read more

Dr. Landry did surgery on my dog and it went well. He laid out the surgical options and didn't give much explanation. I thought this was fine but after going to a different eye specialist, I realized that my new vet explained more fully what each option would have meant for my dog in terms of his age, his health, etc and wished I had gone to the second vet instead. Still, this doesn't take away from Dr. Landry's surgical skills. Be prepared for the prices they charge here though. Every appointment appears to be charged full price even for a quick eye pressure check (compare this to your regular vet doing an eye pressure check using the same instrument--big difference). If you miss a follow-up appointment that you already paid for because it was included in your surgery, they will attempt to charge you extra for it. Also, because of covid, I can't accompany my dog during his appointment but was told by the vet tech that he was "loud and proud." My dog never complains at the vet so it made me wonder what happens while I'm not there during his visit. read more

Our dog had a large mass on his eyelid that was gruesome, uncomfortable, and pressing/scratching his eyeball. They offered us an alternative treatment option (cryogenic) than the typical surgical procedure of removing his eyelid. It was less expensive, no general anesthesia or blood work needed, no stitches, no long term cone needed, and he has healed well. I won't hesitate returning if he needs any future treatments. read more

Maddie likes to investigate the world by feeling it with her right eye. This did not end well for her right eye. Over the course of 3 months following the corneal ulcer, she has had two corneal ruptures. Through it all, Dr. Landry has focused on minimizing risk of infection and pain (for the dog, not us). With the second rupture, we will be having the eye removed despite all of the efforts to save it. This is specialty care and they charge specialty care prices. But, even our regular vet agreed that the best place for Maddie to be seen for her issues was here. They have done an amazing job taking care of Maddie and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Landry and his team to anybody with a dog who needs an opthomoligist. read more

My review doesn't speak to Dr. Landry's skill but to his lack of compassion. I brought my cat in on the referral of our regular veterinarian. My cat has a squamous cell mass on his lower lid. I had asked about receiving a discount twice from the front desk, as we have a nonprofit cat sanctuary/rescue. I was told it was up to the discretion of the doctor and they didn't want to take the time to ask him and get back to me. I went anyway, waited two weeks for the appt. Dr. Landry told us after a 10 min. exam that he couldn't perform surgery on my cat; we would need to see a surgeon. I knew the cost of the consultation beforehand but feel that $400 is exorbitant due to the fact that the doctor can't help my cat. He had delivered my cat back to me and simply walked away from me while I was talking. All nonprofits have had a difficult year with Covid limiting their fundraising. Our donations go only to pet food, litter and medical care - we are otherwise all volunteer. We receive discounts at other specialists and one vet even offers for free neuters. Rescues routinely work together to pull animals off death row and transport, and rely on volunteers as well as donors; everyone makes contributions either with their time and monetarily. You assume a man who has made a career out of practicing medicine on companion animals actually cares about them on the whole, but seems he acts like he only cares about making money in this instance. read more

Pros: -very clean!! Between all my pets I've spent a lot of time in vet offices and many treatment rooms don't get cleaned b/w patients. This was probably the cleanest I've seen. -Bedside manner by staff was excellent. They sat on the floor and sweet talked my dog to keep her comfortable during the exam. -Dr. Landry patiently answered all my questions and performed a skillful surgery. -Responsive to concerns during the healing process via phone and emailed pics. Cons: -Pricing structure could use improvement. Every other veterinary specialist I've seen includes 1-2 follow ups in the procedure pricing to ensure assessment of healing and opportunity to address complications. This felt a little nickel-and-dimed. -Communication was mixed. They scheduled an appointment on a holiday and I questioned if their office was open but they assured me it would be. A week later called me to reschedule. Annoying but not a big deal. -I was told on the phone to drop her off early for her procedure but she would be ready by noon or one to bring home. When the day of procedure came their schedule had changed so her pickup time was late afternoon. Had to reschedule my afternoon work meetings to accommodate the change. Inconvenient but my girl got the medical care she needed and that's what really matters. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and family. read more

So many things went wrong, and a horrible experience overall. - The earliest available appointment was some 3 months away. Other clinics can often see us within 1 months or earlier. - They refused to look at the photos to help understand if the issue was urgent and warrants a visit. It's either make an appointment, wait 3 months, and pay $417 or nothing. - About a week before the appointment, they (a person named Cheryl) asked to fill in a new patient form, saying we must do that up to 48 hours before the appointment. I called them back to assure them I'd submit the forms in time, which I did on Friday morning (the appointment was for the next Tuesday evening). - They called me to say my appointment was canceled, mumbling something about "it's 48 business hours, not 48 regular hours". - I called back trying to explain that they had more than 2 full business days to go over the form - to no avail. I'd have to schedule a new appointment (after already waiting for 3 months). I asked to talk to the owner, they said he'll call me back - which he never did. - When I asked if they are trained and equipped to deal with cats who are very unfriendly to vets and uncooperative, they said that may not work and would be a waste of theirs and my time. What kind of a vet clinic can't deal with moody cats? I was very frustrated with the experience and the wasted months of wait, and tried talking to other vision clinics. To my surprise, two other clinics in the same area had appointments within weeks, and said they have no problem dealing with hostile cats. I suggest you do the same - go elsewhere, until this clinic changes the way they operate. read more

Our dog had to get her eye removed due to glaucoma, and we had a great experience with this office. They did a fantastic job explaining everything to us throughout the process, from the different drops and medicines to specific instructions about what we needed to do pre and post surgery. They were able to fit us in for surgery relatively quickly. I know people in other metro areas that have had to wait far longer to get their dogs into an eye specialist (our dog is a breed unfortunately predisposed to glaucoma), so I was pleasantly surprised. The surgery went smoothly and our dog healed quickly and is back to normal. I would definitely recommend this office for glaucoma treatment and enucleation surgery. read more

For Dry Eye, call local veterinarians to see if they can test for tear production and eye damage. Not all do, but the ones that can charge $30-40 dollars while the Animal Vision Center charges $240. Local vets will also charge about $3/ml for the treatment (Cyclosporine) whereas the Animal Vision Center refers you to a pharmacy that charges $7/ml. To keep your dog's eyes lubricated you can buy Optixcare for $11/bottle from Amazon or you can buy from these generous folks at the Animal Vision Center for about $35/bottle.
