I called Cascade Pet Hospital specifically to schedule cherry eye surgery for my dog. On the phone I was told they could not schedule surgery without an exam first, and I booked the earliest appointment based on the impression that the clinic could perform the procedure after evaluation. At the visit, I was told Cascade does not have a veterinary ophthalmologist and that I would need to see an ophthalmology specialist for surgical repair. I was charged $111 for the exam, but the outcome was essentially a referral that could have been made clear before I came in. I'm also concerned about the guidance I received: I was told there was a "50/50 chance" surgery wouldn't work, yet board-level ophthalmology resources commonly cite higher success rates for gland replacement/repositioning (often called a "pocket" technique) and describe recurrence as a known possibility--not a coin flip. For example, Colorado State's veterinary ophthalmology service lists 85-90% success for cherry eye repair, and VCA notes ~5-20% risk of re-prolapse requiring additional surgery. My main concern: The hospital was NOT transparent on the phone about whether they can actually perform cherry eye surgery in-house (especially if it requires a specialist). If I had known the expected outcome is referral to ophthalmology, I would have avoided unnecessary exam fees and go directly to the right provider. read more

We started coordinating our dogs care before moving cross country and the Cascade Team could not have been a better partner - quick to respond, positive in all our interactions and made it so easy to transition records etc in advance. She can get up on the couch all on her own now and loves joining in on adventures with our baby boy Huey. We can't thank the team enough! Dr. Taylor and her staff are the best I've experienced in the Pacific Northwest. My small chi terrier mix was adopted from a difficult birth at the county shelter. I adopted him at 10 weeks and he was already an anxious mess with numerous behavioral problems. Dr. Taylor has patiently been with us, not only caring for his physical, but also his emotional health. She has never rushed us, always been patient and has explained how I can support my dog's journey to living his best life. She is warm, kind, empathetic and an excellent vet. Very Disappointing Experience-- One of the receptionists (with the dark curly hair) was very unfriendly and made me feel unwelcome. At every other vet clinic, the front desk folks get excited to see my precious pet. She was not amused or amiable. The other receptionist was friendly. I think they should've given him the shots after the grooming. They have him multiple shots and then couldn't complete the grooming services because he was already freaked out by the painful injections. Not sure why they did in that order. I had questions about the shots, and felt rushed into them even though I told nurse I had questions. On a positive note, the nurse was very nice and she went the extra mile overall. The items the Dr. recommended were listed as a link on the receipt. I am not going to type out some long link. I thought the items would be listed by name for my ease. I didn't even see them at first. The not friendly receptionist, defensively, talked behind my back after I couldn't find the items on the receipt. Unprofessional, and not a good vibe. I had difficulty with the Cascade Pharmacy Order. They didn't sent the 20% coupon until days after the appointment, after I already made the order for supplies--at full price. :( I still have not gotten a response from the questions I sent about my prescription being denied. I have sent multiple emails at this point as well as a voicemail. It's been three days. I nicely shared feedback privately, however the manager had poor communication skills and was rude and belittling. I would hope that feedback would be appreciated, and that they would also be wanting to improve customer experience, however I got a defensive attitude for example making the patient wrong ie. 'we have never had complaints before." This kind of statement puts the blame on the patient as though I am having a unique experience rather than self-reflection and taking accountability. I did not need a response at all in regard to the survey that they requested I complete but was more doing it as a favor to the practice in hopes that they might benefit and improve. It seems however that your practice does not have a growth mindset nor one of patient respect which is very disappointing. I tried to graciously handle this internally, however as rude as the manager was to me when I completed internal survey they requested I fill out-- I felt I needed to share in this public forum so that other people can be warned of my experience. The customer care has been very disappointing, as well as lacking in professional and caring communication skills. Don't punish or be rude to clients when they take time out of day to generously and honestly respond to survey questions you requested that I take. The doctors and vets here are incredibly kind, professional, and always thorough in their care. However, I did have an unpleasant experience with one of the receptionists. She came off as very standoffish and avoided eye contact with me. Initially, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I noticed she was much warmer and more respectful with other clients in the lobby. I have a reactive dog, so I'm used to feeling some judgment in vet spaces--but it was disappointing to see that level of unprofessionalism from someone at the front desk who serves as the first point of contact. Do not recommend Dr Taylor at Cascade Pet Hospital. I took my cat here for a check up and learned she had dental resorption. She had five teeth removed and when Dr Taylor called to give me an update, I asked for an anti-nausea med for my cat for post anesthesia/having five teeth removed. She told me, "there is no way she would be nauseated, I have a cat with one tooth that has no trouble eating." They called me 24hrs post op to check on my cat, everything was okay. Then at the 48hr mark, my cat wasn't eating as much. I was giving her an NSAID Onsior (which Dr Taylor prescribed, with food) and she started to hide. At the 96hr post op mark, my kitty had completely stopped eating and drinking! I panicked and called the local emergency vets and was told to take her into urgent care the next day. At Urgent Care, the vet was confused why my kitty hadn't been sent home on an anti-nausea med. I told them I asked and my vet, Dr Taylor, said it wasn't necessary. I learned my cat was dehydrated, needed antibiotics (since none were given prophylacticly in her procedure), got an anti-nausea med (stimulant to start eating) and gabapentin for pain (Onsior is too hard on the stomach post op). My cat started to eat after 24hrs of the Urgent Care visit. The worst part about Cascade Pet Hospital and Dr Taylor, is that I left a voicemail at the 48hr time from when my cat stopped eating and drinking and asked for a call back. I never heard from the office, a receptionist, or Dr Taylor. I do not recommend this doctor at this clinic or this clinic. The lack of care was frustrating and the dismissal of my concerns was concerning. I could've avoided an Urgent Care appt for my kitty if Dr Taylor would've listened to my concerns instead of dismissed them. read more

I am writing this to express my repulsion at the unethical behavior I witnessed here at Cascade Pet Hospital today. I brought both of my dogs in today, Varg and Zelda, for a routine nail trim. Tonya was the individual who greeted me today upon arrival and I believe was the person performing the nail trims. When I got home, my husband noticed Varg was acting strange and lethargic; he also didn't want anyone touching his feet, which is weird. Varg has a rear dewclaw that my husband happened to look at and noticed that it looked "dirty," as if something like bright colored mud was sticking to it and the small pad adjacent to it. At first, I assumed it was maybe caked on dirt but upon further inspection it is clearly a liberal application of yellow styptic powder ("Kwik Stop"), see attached image. It was applied over the entirety of my dog's rear dewclaw pad because they clipped it pretty bad and I imagine it bled quite a bit. I understand that this occurs from time to time and people do their best to avoid having this happen. However, the occurrence was not communicated to me despite me prompting Tonya for a status update. I am upset for several reasons. When my dogs were brought out and I asked Tonya, "How did it go? Is everything okay?" and Tonya responded with a rushed, "We got them as short as we could!" I have deep concerns about your integrity towards animal welfare on a basic level. I heard yelping and screaming on and off over the ~30 minutes I was there for. I cannot say for certain that it was entirely from one of my dogs, however, this is concerning nonetheless. I get it, dogs don't like being at the vet and are vocal for a multitude of reasons, but there was seemingly nothing done to reassure the animal(s) who were actively being seen in treatment rooms that were in some amount of distress. Moving on, while attempting to pay for the visit and check out, Tonya was holding both of my dogs by their leashes far away from me. She let Varg slip out of his collar, complained, and chided me that his collar was too loose and that I should fix this. She was simultaneously surprised when he froze upon realizing he was off his collar/leash and even commented that he was "staying so still." Yes, because my dog spends plenty of time off-leash and we have a good call and response relationship. He just wanted to get away from this person and be near me--totally reasonable from a dog's perspective. The fact that this person was not actively not paying attention to and unaware that my dog's body language signified that he wanted to be near me is flabbergasting. I tried mentioning that it was fine, they can come closer, etc. At first I thought to myself, "Are you not a veterinary technician? Have you not been trained in some capacity on how to perform your job? Do you not spend a large portion of your day paying explicit attention to animal needs?" And then I went to Cascade's website (https://www.cascadepethospital.com/our-practice/) and realized Tonya is listed as a receptionist. Ah, this makes so much more sense. Tonya made sure to remind me to "tighten his collar" upon my exit. Without going into even more unnecessary details: Varg has a lot of fatty, loose skin around his neck that gets bunched up when he lays down and a tight collar makes it hard for him to breathe. This is strikingly common in dogs and I assumed someone working in a vet's office would, at the very least, ask about this before issuing commands of this nature.The lack of communication skills and customer service from this individual is pretty incredible. I felt like I was dealing with a condescending mother figure (e.g. typical boomer); I felt like this person was judging me and jumping to unfair conclusions without asking literally any questions. Additional context: my dogs are 10 and 13 yrs old and well-behaved. I get their nails trimmed regularly with zero issues other than Varg being a bit nervous and shaking with anxiety at first, but he has never been aggressive. And as far as I know, he did not show any aggression during the visit. He just needs some patience and reassurance when at the vet, which is a totally reasonable accommodation to make. For the record, I have never had any issues at this establishment until earlier today. I've taken my dogs here over the past year and the staff have been great and communicative, especially the veterinarians who always take the time to speak with me personally to go over my dog's visits and next steps we can take to manage their health individually. I am disappointed with how this situation was handled and will be taking my business elsewhere. This was truly unprofessional and unacceptable. Charging $20+/dog for a basic nail trim performed by a receptionist is also laughable when you do a poor job per the aforementioned reasons. Buyer beware, I guess. This is where I bring Luna (my pup) for care. It's located close to home which is a plus for me as they have late appointments if needed. The reception area is cozy, clean and has a warm and friendly front desk staff. I was looking for a particular flea and tick treatment (Revolution) for Luna and discovered that Cascade Pet carried it. Our first visit the vet was kind enough to wave the fee for a check-up since I went to a vet the previous week. The cost of the visit was for the medication only. I felt like it was wonderful touch and I appreciated it. Our last visit I had a foster pup with me and the receptionist offered to post Mocha's photo to help me find a suitable adopter (I consider this above and beyond service). Luna liked the doctor and staff (they freely give treats to win my pup over). This has the feel of a neighborhood vet and I'm glad I found a place close to home and offers loving care. read more

Overall, our experience with Cascade was extremely disappointing. We did not feel welcome from the onset. Our pup was especially anxious and when given a routine shot he responded with absolute fear and secreted himself. The vets them took him away to complete the vaccines and I could hear him shrieking down the hall - it was terrible. The chip they gave us was registered to another pup's name. When we required emergency care, they told us they were closing and directed us to another place and did not check back in to see how things were going. I paid the puppy package price and received little to no benefit - I highly discourage folks from doing the same. When I asked about neuter costs, the prices far exceeded all others in the area. With a location directly on Aurora, lack of follow-up or concern about our pup, high prices and truly unfriendly service, there is really no reason to stay with Cascade with so many other alternatives in the area. read more

I've been taking my 2 year old Siberian Husky, Uzume here since she was a baby and have only had positive experiences! I've had her spay surgery done here, mass removal surgery and countless appointments. They are always thorough with going over estimates (and veterinary care is costly so the prices never surprised me.)The mass removal had complications with suturing and bandaging based on the location, so the staff here saw us almost every day other day for weeks! The experience was less than ideal, but they made it easy on Uzume and treated her like a princess every time. The staff has squeezed me into appointment times and have been gracious when things came up. Although I don't live as close as I used to, I still bring her here to get the outstanding care we have always received. read more

They also made me take a bus to them only to inform me there that my insurance wouldn't cover me INSTEAD of giving me a call beforehand so I wouldn't have to waste my time or money. We did miss the booster timeframe so paid again for felv which is ok, but we had to pay 3x for the fvrcp. Please stop setting expectations with customers that they won't have to pay when they bring their pet in for boosters, you just end up with unhappy customers. read more

I was treated like a careless, ignorant cat owner. Instead of having a conversation about the health of our cats, I was lectured about everything that came up, as if it would've never occurred to me. Some communication suggestions: 1) "Your cats are overweight, which puts them at risk of obesity and can be pretty painful for them later in life" could've been "Are you doing anything to manage their weight?" (YES WE ARE THANKS FOR ASKING) 2) "I have to assume they aren't vaccinated since you don't have paperwork" could've been "I'm obligated by law to advise you to vaccinate them, buuuut the rabies vaccine in particular needs to be renewed one year after adoption. Did the last vet you saw tell you that?" (THEY DIDN'T. THANKS FOR ASKING, LET'S DO IT) 3) "the wax in his ear isn't infected, you can clean it with some cotton if you want, just be careful not to go too deep"... (me: oh if it's not harmful we'll just leave it)... "well it creates an environment for infection to set in so you really should.." could've just said "you should clean it so he doesn't GET an infection" in the first sentence 4a) "do they just free feed?" (no, why would you assume that) 4b) "maybe give them less treats" (they get virtually 0 treats) 4c) I had to exasperatingly explain everything we're doing for their weight and then ask if he had any further recommendations to get any actionable suggestions: diet food (hard to find quality, wet diet cat food, but we can try) and toys (we have a lot already, but we can try more). Overall the experience left me feeling angry that I wasn't treated with dignity and respect. Instead, it was assumed (perhaps because I didn't bring paperwork with me) that I was irresponsible, ignorant and would ultimately lead my pets to pain and suffering with my negligence :( :( :( untrue and unfair. Disclaimer: this was my second visit. My first visit was for an eye infection last summer and I was happy with the experience. This is the best pet hospital I've experienced by far. I've had a few hospitals in San Francisco and Washington. I've always felt confident and had positive experiences with Cascade pet hospital for 3 years. Both of my dogs were super healthy and well protected by cascade pet hospital. The medical bill was always very affordable. Communication with the staffs and doctors were very warm welcoming, transparent, friendly, and respectful. Due to our move, we couldn't have medical support and services with Cascade. Even I called for an urgent appointment, the staff recommended and helped me find an ER for one of my pups. After a week, the staff called and followed up on the ER appointment. When they learned my pup passed away after being admitted to the ER, they send a sympathy card with signatures from the staffs and doctors. My dog came home from an outing with a bit of red, swollen eye from an outing one evening. However, my regular vet was closed. Called Cascade because they were open and they got me in that night, no problem. He was quickly and efficiently checked up on and we identified it was nothing major. While he needed eye drops, I couldn't remember if the ones I had at home had dexamethasone or not or even if I had enough. They kindly offered that if I had some similar at home that I could return the ones I purchased as long as they were still sealed. Anyhow, place seemed clean, the staff were friendly, and my dog and I left happy there was nothing seriously wrong with his eye. I appreciate they had the later hours so I didn't have to visit the ER vet! read more

Staff was very nice and helpful, no complaints there. However, their prices were exorbitant. Initial checkup, two shots, an earmite medication my 9 month kitten very likely may not need (they tested her negative there): $126. Ok, alright, not bad. Estimate for her spay: $426, not including the bloodwork, which is $60 the day of the spay or $30 beforehand! So, do they tape the whole thing and throw a cat mitzah in their honor for graduating to adulthood? I mentioned that I saw a coupon for them in Valpack (I was wrong, different vet) and then they told me about the kitten package, 15% off services. I love my cat, but I can't drop that much cash when other vets charge far, far less. To add insult to injury, my cat picked up the most aggressive fleas I've ever encountered there. read more

I love our vet to pieces and won't go anyplace else. Started coming here when our older dog developed an inoperable tumor, and we figured it was probably time to move away from Banfield (where we had good experiences, honestly) and seek a more personalized vet experience for her evolving condition. Dr Ulrike Rudolph really is the vet we always wanted and all our pets deserve. She is kind, thorough, funny, honest, and never talks down to you. She will give it to you straight, but always with plans of attack to help your pet live the best life. She also refreshingly combines both traditional and alternative medicine principles to find the best solution (like chiro and acupuncture which was miraculous in helping our dog with debilitating back pain). Our old girl lived more than another year with the help of Dr. Rudolph and her crew, and Cascade was who we called when we knew it was time to let her go. Even in that, our veterinary extended family (and we do think of them this way) was compassionate and infinitely patient and loving with us that day--they came to our home, were so gentle with her, and I will always be grateful. The entire staff at Cascade Pet Hospital is incredible. You can tell that each member of the staff really loves animals and I feel like they are as invested in my cat as I am. Every time I bring my cat in, the whole staff says hello to her and asks how she is doing. With another cat of mine that sadly passed away to FIP, both doctors took the time to answer my wife and my questions succinctly and make sure that we understood what was happening, what our choices were, and what we should expect. Terrible doctors that didn't even try and help. Terrible customer service and won't honor prescriptions for medication that I was told my dog would need for the rest of his life unless I brought him in for more tests then they would refill it. Then I was told they couldn't refill it because they hadn't seen him for over a year, oh but they saw him in January.... The only regulations you follow are the one's you can use to extract more money for needless tests. Sure, I'd love to pay another $500 every year for you to tell me the medication is doing its job and to keep going. Or I can look at him and see he's not 30 lbs overweight and completely lethargic and use my brain to figure out the medication is doing what it is supposed to be doing. Love this vet. The staff is very nice and personable. My sweet dog was just diagnosed with cancer, a tumor. Dr. Snyder did a wonderful job and was able to remove all of it! I was also a bit of a freak afterwards and called almost daily. They were patient with me and let me come in as often as I wanted to look at her incision. Also, my dog popped one of her incisions over the weekend. Cascade Pet Hospital partners with an Emergency Vet and I was able to send in a photo for them to look at, to see if it's necessary to bring her in (and it wasn't.) That probably saved me a couple hundred dollars right there. They are very good about trying to keep costs low and don't try to get you to do tests that aren't 100% necessary. read more

It's so evident that their top priority is providing outstanding veterinary care instead of unnecessarily milking clients for money (like unfortunately some places do). They genuinely want to help you and your pets. We initially started taking our pups to this clinic because we lived barely a block away and it was convenient, but since then we have moved to Lynnwood. I really can't say enough about Cascade Pet Hospital. My dog goes apey when we pull up. He's actually happy to be getting his monthly shot or his nails trimmed. The staff are excellent when it comes to keeping me informed and take time in explaining any and everything going on with him. I feel like I'm much more than a customer and see that they treat Nigel as more than a patient. Also, I find their prices to be very reasonable. read more

My new puppy got into some chocolate the day before Easter and they took us in right away. They remembered us when we came back for a check up! The staff is very friendly and so good to all the animals that come in. The Vet was very nice and gave me a lot of tips on raising my puppy which I appreciate very much! The staff is helpful and knowledgeable and, as the other 5-star review said, they give great advice over the phone and I have never felt overcharged in any way. I took my dog to this clinic for 7+ years. AT first, we saw the same vet and she was great, then after they moved, we NEVER saw the same Doc twice, not only did they NEVER address his rash issues, everytime I came out with a new daily medication. And hundreds of dollars in unnecessary testing. Speaking of absurd testing and pricing. My sweet little Mackey passed away 11/17/2020. I had an outstanding lab bill from the previous visit, again, not addressing anything I came in for originally. I get a message from their office on December 22nd, 2020 threatening to send me to collections. 2 days before Christmas and in the middle of COVID, and just a few weeks after the passing of my furbaby. Wow........ I wouldn't recommend this clinic to my worst enemy. I put in my time there, I stuck with them even through the HEAVY staff changes. They were terrible in return about the care of my furbaby, and even my mental state. Stay far away! read more

I can't remember who recommended this place to us but I wish they hadn't. Not only do they show zero interest in your pet but they charge INSANE prices. We first started taking our puppy here in March for exams and shots. The doctor (I won't name names as he may be great with other people's animals) seemed annoyed with our puppy and did not offer ANY tips or advice for puppy care, such as keeping them away from dog parks until they got their shots, etc. The doctor had no "bedside manner" with our pup and was not very gentle with vaccine/med administration. Not only that but they offered us a "bundle package" for his puppy shots costing over $500! Most friends I have with puppies paid under $200 for all their vaccines. I let it slide as I'm a first time dog owner and didn't know what was reasonable vs what wasn't. The tipping point for me was this morning. We waited 2 months to get in for a neuter appt. I was called and emailed to inform me that check in time was 7:30 am. I show up at 7:30 and the building is dark and locked. I call their office and get sent straight to an automated message with no option to leave a voicemail. So now I'm sitting on the side of Aurora with no clue what to do. I go back to my car and wait for another 10 minutes before I see a woman enter the building. I wait until she turns on the lights (5 minutes later) and then try to enter with my dog. Try to open the door and it's still locked, receptionist ignores me. I knock on the door and she holds up a finger to me as if telling me to wait. Finally she opens the door and gives me some papers to sign. On the first page it shows the estimated price at $704-772! I was shocked. All my research and consulting with friends told me I'd pay $400 at most. At that point I told the receptionist that the price seems very high and that I was going to look around for other places to get him neutered. She then says they would have been happy to provide an estimate beforehand in order to "avoid losing a slot" aka I just inconvenienced them. Way to blame the customer for something that your business should have been WAY more upfront about! Overall, extremely dissatisfied with this business and we will be finding a new vet immediately. read more

I work with Drs. I know that for the most part they are no longer what most people think they are, they haven't been for years. The "visit your home, care about you and your family, know what's in your chart" Drs are few and far between, they're just too busy. There are no words to adequately express my gratitude and thankfulness to have an old school Dr like Dr Rudolf take care of my baby. It's extremely rare to encounter such a compassionate skilled Dr. She embodies what a Dr was meant to be...I will be forever grateful for the empathy and non-judgmental care she gave me and my boy. I can't imagine ever taking any future pet to anyone else but her, she lives the Drs oath "First do no harm." Thank you Dr Rudolf for giving Donovan and me the care that most other Drs wouldn't have..you are a true healer in every sense of the word, you're a blessing. read more
