I might be biased because I used to work here but there's a reason I go out of my way to continue to bring my own fur babies here and always recommend this hospital to friends and families looking for a veterinarian in the area. I saw first hand, behind the scenes, every day the level of care, compassion, expertise, attention to detail and passion that each and every team member has for the patients they see every day. Everyone strives to create the best experience they could possibly provide for each and every patient depending on their own particular needs. Their medical director is on top of new innovations within the veterinary field and always looking for new ways to provide a better experience, ongoing care and preventative care for patients. Dr. Taylor and Dr. Zaragoza are INCREDIBLE doctors! Many team members at the clinic put in the extra work for continued education within the field including fear free techniques. And we were always so proud to see wagging tails and happy faces from patients when visiting the clinic. Our 2 year old kitty Huey loves the clinic and the staff. And our roommates senior kitty Sophie, who was struggling with being overweight and arthritic at her old age is now THRIVING on a combination of Solensia and the Royal Canin Feline Senior diet. Her skin used to be flakey and oily because she couldn't clean herself, she was visibly struggling and in pain due to her arthritis, couldn't get up on the couch to snuggle with her favorite people and overweight. She's now cleaning herself, her skin and coat are much cleaner and healthier, she's lost some weight, has more energy and is even playing with toys again. She can get up on the couch all on her own now and loves joining in on adventures with our baby boy Huey. We can't thank the team enough! From the flawless check in and check out, follow ups, easy access to online pharmacy and having the option of prescriptions being sent to our front door, to the individualized care that meet our particular wants and needs as pet parents to provide the best level of care for our pets. Thank you Cascade Pet Hospital team!

Rear dewclaw covered in yellow styptic powder without being told that they cut my dog's paw when I asked how the nail trim went.

I am writing this to express my repulsion at the unethical behavior I witnessed here at Cascade Pet Hospital today. I brought both of my dogs in today, Varg and Zelda, for a routine nail trim. Tonya was the individual who greeted me today upon arrival and I believe was the person performing the nail trims. When I got home, my husband noticed Varg was acting strange and lethargic; he also didn't want anyone touching his feet, which is weird. Varg has a rear dewclaw that my husband happened to look at and noticed that it looked "dirty," as if something like bright colored mud was sticking to it and the small pad adjacent to it. At first, I assumed it was maybe caked on dirt but upon further inspection it is clearly a liberal application of yellow styptic powder ("Kwik Stop"), see attached image. It was applied over the entirety of my dog's rear dewclaw pad because they clipped it pretty bad and I imagine it bled quite a bit. I understand that this occurs from time to time and people do their best to avoid having this happen. However, the occurrence was not communicated to me despite me prompting Tonya for a status update. I am upset for several reasons. When my dogs were brought out and I asked Tonya, "How did it go? Is everything okay?" and Tonya responded with a rushed, "We got them as short as we could!" I have deep concerns about your integrity towards animal welfare on a basic level. I heard yelping and screaming on and off over the ~30 minutes I was there for. I cannot say for certain that it was entirely from one of my dogs, however, this is concerning nonetheless. I get it, dogs don't like being at the vet and are vocal for a multitude of reasons, but there was seemingly nothing done to reassure the animal(s) who were actively being seen in treatment rooms that were in some amount of distress. Moving on, while attempting to pay for the visit and check out, Tonya was holding both of my dogs by their leashes far away from me. She let Varg slip out of his collar, complained, and chided me that his collar was too loose and that I should fix this. She was simultaneously surprised when he froze upon realizing he was off his collar/leash and even commented that he was "staying so still." Yes, because my dog spends plenty of time off-leash and we have a good call and response relationship. He just wanted to get away from this person and be near me--totally reasonable from a dog's perspective. The fact that this person was not actively not paying attention to and unaware that my dog's body language signified that he wanted to be near me is flabbergasting. I tried mentioning that it was fine, they can come closer, etc. At first I thought to myself, "Are you not a veterinary technician? Have you not been trained in some capacity on how to perform your job? Do you not spend a large portion of your day paying explicit attention to animal needs?" And then I went to Cascade's website (https://www.cascadepethospital.com/our-practice/) and realized Tonya is listed as a receptionist. Ah, this makes so much more sense. Tonya made sure to remind me to "tighten his collar" upon my exit. Without going into even more unnecessary details: Varg has a lot of fatty, loose skin around his neck that gets bunched up when he lays down and a tight collar makes it hard for him to breathe. This is strikingly common in dogs and I assumed someone working in a vet's office would, at the very least, ask about this before issuing commands of this nature. The lack of communication skills and customer service from this individual is pretty incredible. I felt like I was dealing with a condescending mother figure (e.g. typical boomer); I felt like this person was judging me and jumping to unfair conclusions without asking literally any questions. Additional context: my dogs are 10 and 13 yrs old and well-behaved. I get their nails trimmed regularly with zero issues other than Varg being a bit nervous and shaking with anxiety at first, but he has never been aggressive. And as far as I know, he did not show any aggression during the visit. He just needs some patience and reassurance when at the vet, which is a totally reasonable accommodation to make. For the record, I have never had any issues at this establishment until earlier today. I've taken my dogs here over the past year and the staff have been great and communicative, especially the veterinarians who always take the time to speak with me personally to go over my dog's visits and next steps we can take to manage their health individually. I am disappointed with how this situation was handled and will be taking my business elsewhere. This was truly unprofessional and unacceptable. Charging $20+/dog for a basic nail trim performed by a receptionist is also laughable when you do a poor job per the aforementioned reasons. Buyer beware, I guess. Don't let the hype and sugary sweet reviews fool you.

    Uzume
    Lizzyy K.

I've been taking my 2 year old Siberian Husky, Uzume here since she was a baby and have only had positive experiences! I've had her spay surgery done here, mass removal surgery and countless appointments. They are always thorough with going over estimates (and veterinary care is costly so the prices never surprised me.)The mass removal had complications with suturing and bandaging based on the location, so the staff here saw us almost every day other day for weeks! The experience was less than ideal, but they made it easy on Uzume and treated her like a princess every time. The staff has squeezed me into appointment times and have been gracious when things came up. Although I don't live as close as I used to, I still bring her here to get the outstanding care we have always received.

Clover and her Monkey purse. She loves Cascade Pet Hospital!

Went there for the first time on Saturday. I cannot say enough good things about this Vet. It was a pleasure from start to finish and I knew my pet was in good hands. I live in Brooklyn, NY and am here temporarily for about a year. This is going to be our "go to" vet while we live in Seattle.

Thanks for helping Indy feel better!

That changed when I came for the final visits with my Mako as she was reaching the end. The 2 primary concerns I came in with, her weight loss and her paws, were briefly spoken about at the very beginning of the appointment, but the vet never examined her paws (she had dog gloves on all four paws) or weighed the dog. I'm a physician, and I know if the doctor doesn't even do the basic for the primary concerns, they are basically checked out. I had to put her on the scale myself and the "doctor" said good idea after the fact. They wanted to do all kinds of bloodwork and scans on a 14 year old golden, to what end I asked? Are we going to do surgery or chemo on a dog this old?!? Unreal. Promised me prednisone to help perk her up for final days and then made me jump through hoops to even get it, wanted me to literally drag her back down there again (wasn't walking without help at this point to get the medication. Werecently got a new golden and I'm writing this review because I was reminded of a very bad memory as I'm looking for a new vet. I've seen it all and this clinic has surprised me at every turn. I brought my elderly dog in as an emergency patient days after relocating to the area with no prior appointments. They were able to fit us in immediately with Dr. Almendinger - and what an incredible doctor she is! Dr. Almendinger showed great compassion for my dog during the visit and gave me consistent positive regard throughout, answering all my questions and listening carefully to my concerns. I left with necessary prescriptions in hand, detailed instructions and a thoughtful follow-up care plan including booking follow up appointments. The clinic was upfront about all tests, procedures and costs and open to my ideas on treatment plan. Costs were the same or lower than what I've experienced at other local Seattle clinics (we have also lived in green lake and Fremont). Dr. Almendinger also went through my pet's records and identified some recurring themes that no other vet has picked up on. On request, she gave me a list of tests to consider to rule out certain conditions and make an improved treatment plan that she thought would improve my dog's overall health and quality of life in her golden years. The front desk staff was proactive about getting us scheduled for follow ups and provided me a copy of Dr. Almendinger's notes via email on request. There was plenty of parking out front and the waiting room was comfortable with areas to take pets who are shy or skittish to wait. I saw a few folks with cats doing this. They had a coffee station too which is a nice touch, though I didn't use it in any of my visits. Overall, I can honestly say my experiences here (after a handful of visits) have all been exceptional. This is a magical place with wonderful people. I highly recommend bringing your pets here for care even if you have to drive further to get here, this is truly the best clinic in Seattle.

I never made any political statement, racial comment, insult, or personal attack. Nor would I ever. I did absolutely nothing that could justify the accusations you have now publicly made about me. Your response appears to be an attempt to discredit me and put me on the defensive, rather than address the misconduct, or the harm, which is consistent with your previous unethical mistreatment of us. I came to your clinic as a new client seeking only routine care for my dog: preventatives and a fecal exam. From the moment Dr. Mohamed entered the room, she was abrupt, hostile, and repeatedly stated that she "did not understand" why I was there, despite my calmly explaining multiple times exactly what I needed. Then, without warning, without first trying to make my dog comfortable, and without any introduction to my dog whatsoever, Dr. Mohamed forcefully inserted the otoscope into my dog's ear hard enough that my dog yelped loudly in pain. I had never heard my dog cry out like that before. We had been to other vets before who checked her ears using this tool, without any issue. I witnessed how unfriendly and roughly she treated my very sweet submissive dog. What shocked me most was that Dr. Mohamed did not react at all. She did not stop, apologize, acknowledge my dog's pain, or show any concern whatsoever. Again, as my previous review which you replied to stated- to this day my pup will no longer let a vet touch her ears. Dr. Mohamed's handling of my dog fell far below an acceptable standard of care, and directly caused lasting trauma. Your response to hearing this report is once again shockingly unconcerned, and dismissive. No vet should ever roughly handle and harm a dog because they are for whatever reason bothered by the human. That behavior is entirely unethical and unacceptable. Again, as stated previously to which you responded- we have no idea what prompted this behavior on her part and that is really the most baffling component here. Because we are friendly, reasonable and professional people. I work in customer service. I was excited to meet what I thought would be our new vet! I was polite and respectful from the jump. NOTHING in my behavior was even remotely close to what you describe, even AFTER she harmed my baby. I did not yell or get aggressive. I simply asked immediately to end the interaction and speak to the manager. My only possible guess was that my shirt had an American Flag on it, and this was some kind of politically motivated retaliation. I cannot confirm this, but have no other explanation for what was seemingly a very personal attack from a total stranger. Again, I immediately told Dr. Mohamed in a calm manner that I was ending the appointment and requested to speak with the clinic manager. At that point, Dr. Mohamed abruptly changed her tone, apologized, and asked if I wanted to continue with the appointment after all. I declined and again requested to speak with a manager. Dr. Mohamed then left the room. I remained there for more than twenty minutes waiting to speak with someone. No one came. No one checked on me. No one asked what had happened. After waiting, I finally went to the front desk myself, at which point I was told to leave without ever being given the opportunity to explain my side of the situation. I was left in tears. The only person who showed any kindness or professionalism was a member of your front desk staff, who came to me in the parking lot w/ tissues and apologized. Her practiced manner in this strongly suggested that this type of incident is not unusual there. You have now publicly accused me of being "abrasive, rude, racist, and abusive." Those statements are false. I unequivocally deny them. I will not allow false accusations to be used to deflect from what occurred. I will not accept being falsely maligned in order to protect your staff from criticism. I stand fully by my account of what occurred. I did absolutely ZERO to deserve the way Dr Mohamed treated me or my dog. In fact, there exists no possible justification for the rough way she was handled, nor the lasting pain Dr Mohamed's misconduct caused. Both of these are points which you have, yet again, completely neglected to address. I further object to your implication that, because I posted this review years later, my experience is somehow less valid. It took me years to feel removed enough to seek any justice here. As clinic manager it's your duty to ensure correct conduct by staff. You never even gave me an audience, and conducted no investigation. You neglected your duties, and as a result have not obtained the truth. I am formally demanding that you retract the false statements you made about my conduct within 14 days. If you do not, be aware that I am preserving your response and all related communications for further action.
