It's always good to shop at the factory where products are made. You can get it fresh and better price I think. I've only tried Ani's taro rolls. When I visited this warehouse, I was surprised to see racks of different variety of pound cakes, rolls, and pies. They're located across from DLS in Halawa warehouse/industrial area. Free parking is available right in the front of the store. It is a small place so be courteous to others. I picked up some pound cake on this trip. Lemon was one of them. It was moist and delicious. The other one was Lilikoi but it was for a gift so I'm not sure how that one was. I want to try that and more next time. read more

We went here 3 times, and got some on the way to the airport-- this place was that good. The sweet butter cream rolls are the way to go (also had their banana bread and sweet loaf (like brioche) and that's good too!). Tried the following flavors of the butter cream rolls: pineapple, guava, and lilikoi and like the latter two the best, since the lilikoi is a little tart to cut the flavor of the sweet rolls. The sweet loaves are also good-- got the pineapple which has the jam swirled into the fluffy bread. For my 700th review, I would like to write about something very dear to my heart...........da Custard Pie!!!! As kid, when mom took me with her to Chinatown while she shopped, one thing was for sure............if I saw any custard tarts (especially at the Tin Tin Chop Suey), I would always ask my mom if I could have some. Lucky for me, mom always came through for me.........and my love for custard has never wavered through the years. Some folks grow up eating a certain thing, but as they get older, taste change & they no longer like it.........but for me, I've always loved custard tarts, custard danishes, & custard pie as a kid, and still love it as an adult, which led me here today at - Ani's Bake Shop in Aiea. I must say Ani's is probably my all time favorite place to get a custard pie! I use to buy Ani's custard pies all the time from Sam's Club, but unfortunately through the years.........Sam's Club stopped selling Ani's custard pies, and started to sell baked items from Napoleon's Bakery instead, leaving me hangin' without any easy access to my beloved custard pie's from Ani's. It's been like 10 months since I last had a slice of Ani's custard pie, so today; I decided to make the 22 mile round trip to reward myself with a custard pie fix from Ani's! Where is Ani's located? Ani's Bake Shop is located in the Halawa industrial area, just off of the freeway. If you see the Diagnostic Laboratory, just hang a left & drive one block up the street.........Ani's Bake Shop is on your right. Parking for Ani's Bake shop is very limited, as there are only 4 parking stalls in the private parking lot. If the lot is full, you can just wait in the parking lot for an open stall, as people come in/out of the bakery constantly. If you cannot wait, then may I suggest you look for free street parking around the area, but I will have to tell you folks..........finding parking within the neighborhood can be very difficult. As I walked into Ani's today, the bake shop is pretty small with no seating at all. Most of the retail space here is filled with racks of baked goods, as well as refrigerators full of pies & sandwiches. The bakery display case is pretty small too with limited baked items in the case........I guess if you're looking for something in particular, best to call & check if they have it that day before making the trek about to Ani's. For me, I just came for the custard pie today, and literally.............I almost gave myself a heart attack!!! After driving 11 miles (one way) to get to Ani's.........as I walked into the shop, I was looking for my beloved custard pie, but I didn't see any in the refrigerator. I then asked the girl behind the counter if they had anymore custard pies? She replied - "it's only whatever they had in the refrigerator", as she mentioned that someone had come in earlier and purchased 12 custard pies!!! YIKES!!! I frantically relooked again, and low & behold, I found two custard pies left in the fridge.......aaaaaah, phew!!! Picked up my pie, and took a quick scan of the baked goods..........saw a poi malasada that they sold for $1.10 each, and decided to give it a try. What can I say about my custard pie? Just see da pics.........and you will understand why I love it so much! Ani's custard pie is always consistent with their texture of their custard pies. It is creamy with a slight hint of cinnamon, and the crust is always nice & flat, not bubbled up (like I would get sometimes at other bake shops). As for the poi malasada's.....I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the poi malasada's were! I wouldn't say it was a "malasada", I would say it was more like a poi donut! It was not oily at all, and had a nice light glaze to the malasada, very nice texture, and I wished I had bought more of these, instead of just one. The poi malasada was the perfect item to have with my coffee! Ani's Bake Shop is also known for their butter rolls...........they make all kinds of flavors, and if you're into that.......I swear the rolls will not disappoint you! Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis?! Ani's has a bakeshop open to the public? You mean I can go straight to the source instead of going to Sam's Club and our local grocery stores for their baked goods? Well it's not too often that I venture to Halawa's industrial area so I had no idea about the bakery being open to the public. The bakeshop is practically a cubby hole, tucked away in Halawa, right next door to Mauna Loa. They have a couple of parking stalls right in front of the entrance. Their space is tiny, yes. However, whenever I walk in, I'm overwhelmed at how packed their little shop is with buns, loaves, pastries, sandwiches, and a bunch of other sugar-filled snacks. Ani's is well-known for their sweet bread, cream-filled rolls, pies, and pound cake. The cream-filled rolls are sold by the tray. I don't remember exactly how much rolls come on a tray but it makes a nice sweet treat to bring to potlucks and you can choose from a variety of flavors-peanut butter, lilikoi, strawberry, etc. Yes, Ani's desserts are to die for but that's not all she has to offer. After picking out some baked goods, I usually leave there with a sandwich combo as well. Premade sandwiches are available in the fridge next to the counter. Tuna salad, egg salad, chicken and pastrami sandwiches are available-all stuffed on a huge sweet bun. The bun tastes just like the sweet bread they make. When you purchase a sandwich, it comes with a small bag of chips. At less than 5 bucks for a huge sandwich and chips, I can't complain. So lately, when I feel like indulging in Ani's baked goods-I skip the local grocery store chain and go straight to the source for a larger variety of choices and I can get them in bulk. Thank god I don't live near this bakery otherwise I'd stop here everyday. There are three things that I come here for - sweet potato haupia pie, butter cream rolls, and fresh pastries. Their sweet potato haupia pie is a guaranteed winner at every potluck, and unfortunately they only sell it here at their Halawa outlet. The butter cream rolls come in many flavors and there are 12 in each pack. I haven't tried them all, but the peanut butter cream and cinnamon butter cream are my favorites so far. And their fresh pastries are as fresh as they come - super soft and super sweet! You can find select Ani's Bake Shop products at retail stores (Longs, Times), but you'll find the freshest products right from the source here in Halawa. It's a hop and a skip off the H-1 freeway, so even if you don't live in the area, it's easy to make a pit stop here if it's on the way to your destination. read more

"Halawa Heavenly delights" Right across Halawa district park, Diamond head side, is the location of the incomparable Ani's Bake shop. Many of us got know about Ani's as some of their goodies are available at retail stores. But you would be missing out if you thought that was it. Their main retail bakery location is located in an industrial type complex in front of Diagnostic Laboratory Services on Iwaiwa street. They are housed in a nondescript building with several other business. There are about 8 stalls in front of the bldg for customers to use. When you enter the bakery the first thing you notice is that it's a little cramped, the footprint of the retail area is on the smallish side. But a look into the showcase and rack give you an eye-popping delight of the sweet goodness they sell. Donuts, butter rolls, malasadas, pies, great stuff is all here. I personally enjoy their glazed donuts with the dollop of chocolate in the middle. What makes their glazed donuts special is the slight hint of lemon which I really enjoy. Their fruit breads are a joy and always bring a smile to anyone's face. But of course the real claim to fame at Anis is their butter cream rolls- they have 20 count'm 20 different flavors including mango & lychee. So rich, so sinful, too ono to resist. The pies are so delicious, but the prices idk cost an arm and a leg. All their breads are all delicious, tried all of them, and the pastries too yum yum. I don't know if I'll buy pies again for the holidays, seeing that I'm broke after spending my hard earn money on it, haha. I bought all the pies, names, the flavors, I bought it all, the banana cream pie, yum, and blueberry idk my sugar was so high, but no worries, it was worth it just drink lots of water. Ani's Bake Shop makes amazing pies, rolls, breads and pastries. It's located in an industrial area and the prices are on the high side, but the baked goods will keep you coming back for more. I make the trip for the Haupia Sweet Potato Pie. There is a perfect crunchy, buttery, macadamia nut crust; thick, rich, sweet potato filling; smooth, creamy haupia; and whipped cream topping. Even with my sweet tooth, I can only have a small slice at a time because it's so rich. They also make Blueberry Cream, Pumpkin Crunch, Mango Cream, Guava Cream, Banana Cream, Pecan, Pumpkin Custard and more. Make sure to grab some Butter Cream Rolls, they're not too sweet, soft, buttery, with a fillings like guava or lilikoi. So perfect toasted for breakfast and don't forget the Sweet Bread for peanut butter banana sandwiches and French Toast. Always knew they had their own bakery some where here in Oahu. Finally found it. It's next to the AMR (American Medical Response) complex. I decided to check it out! I didn't get a chance to take pictures, because of how small and crowded it was when I got there. They have FRESH butter rolls with lots of different flavors to choose from! Their sweet bread was warm, along with their taro rolls (HMM! ^_^) They also have single slice pies, and a lot kinds of sandwiches and limit set of drinks you can also purchases as well. PARKING: Parking is very limited within the building, however there are tons of street parking across the street, which isn't a too bad of a walk. They sell out pretty fast, especially the pastries in the glass window - so go check it out before it gone! read more

I consider this bakery a hidden gem. Ani's guava butter cream rolls are the best. The rolls are fluffy and the cream in the center is sweet and buttery. Ever since I discovered them, I've been going back at least twice a month. My top pick is guava but lilikoi and mango are also very good. The butter cream rolls are only sold here and you can't find it in any stores. They also sell other baked goods such as sweet bread, pies, and pastries. They have 4 parking stalls in front of the shop and it's usually not busy. But if they do fill up, you can park on the street. I highly recommend coming here to pick up a dozen (only sold by the dozen) of the rolls. You won't regret it. read more

I mean... locals know about this. Non-locals, you NEED to know about here. The butter cream rolls are where it's at! Sure, they do pies, breads, 'normal' pastries - but the rolls are what you come here for. Pre-covid, the 'storefront' was really small. Just a small 'aisle' that could fit maybe 6-8 people before getting packed. Post-covid, you can order online and pick-up; or you can go down there and order via comms. You'll do everything from the outside and they minimize face-to-face interaction as much as possible. Parking lot is also small but the many times I've gone, I've been lucky enough that there was always parking. Still, street parking is available if need be. read more

Visiting back home, we were fortunate to have friends that drop of some goodies to try. Best butter cream rolls! So delicious and they have different flavors. We have tried the regular cream rolls and the lilikoi cream rolls. The kids really enjoyed the Poi Donuts. Can I give them 4.5 stars? The baked goods are excellent, especially their butter cream rolls. The one item I don't care for, which is why I didn't give them 5 stars--is their sandwiches. The sandwich bread is HUGE and enough for 2 people. But not everyone likes mustard or horseradish in their sandwiches! I've ordered the ham and cheese--yuck the mustard was pretty heavy. I tried the roast beef--ugh horseradish! Make the sandwiches but leave out the condiments and let customers add their own. I think more people would buy sandwiches if they could add what they wanted. Supply the packets of mayo or mustard on the side. Otherwise it's a great bakery--pricey but delicious! read more

I am very upset that it is not until my final week in Hawaii that I discover this amazing bakery. Located up in Halawa, this shop has barely any standing room inside the entrance. Packed around you are shelves, racks and refrigerated displays with far too many great options. I was sad to see that there was no sweet potato haupia cake left when I got there, because even though I'm not even a fan of sweet potato, I see so many people rave about it that I wanted to try it anyways. I was quite happy with the items I ordered though, which included mango cream pie, lychee sweet cream rolls and lilikoi poundcake. All of them were excellent and I was especially fond of the lychee rolls. Overall, this is definitely my favorite bakery on the island and I think it is "as good as it gets". read more

My favorite Saturday morning stop before a long day! I've been here twice now. The first time we got assorted donuts and the Lilikoi butter cream rolls and they are my absolute favorite!! The amount of Lilikoi flavor and butter cream pairs well with the light and fluffy roll! You can easily eat a few at a time because they're not too sweet! The second time, we got the Litchi and it was good, but I prefer the Lilikoi. There is a good amount of different flavors for the rolls. The donuts were okay in my opinion. I'll definitely be back to try the other flavor of rolls. But make sure you come early because items run out quick! Service is fast, but parking may be difficult depending on the time. Fell in love with Cappuccino butter rolls for their delicious and satisfies caffeine cravings. Peanut butter rolls are light in color, gooey and tastes ten times better than smooth, creamy peanut butter in jars. Highly recommend loaf of cinnamon bread for those preferring thicker, larger pieces of carbs, definitely taste more cinnamon, and at least hints of sugar is not falling all over the place. I was in the neighborhood for work and decided to give Ani's a try. I got the vanilla pudding pie, chocolate pudding, lilikoi bar, and banana bread. The bread had a strange chewy texture and the flavor was lackluster. The lilikoi bar was slightly too sweet and lacked flavor too. The pie and pudding weren't bad. If you're a carb monster like me, make sure you stop by Ani's in you're in Honolulu! It's a drive from the main Waikiki area, but worth checking out if you're already in the area. Unfortunately, they don't sell their items individually, and you have to buy their sweet rolls as a box of 12. They weren't busy around 3:15pm on a Friday, and they have a full selection of baked goods available. I decided to try their Lillikoi Cream Cream Rolls ($12/Pack of 12, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=EzAiG6MkqafZKMQwBIlTQQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg), which were like King's Hawaiian Rolls with lillikoi cream/butter in the middle! Their rolls were soft and delicious, and the lillikoi cream had a nice tart flavor, but was also super creamy. I hope they start selling smaller packs of the rolls at some point, or a variety pack. I would definitely come back here if back in Honolulu. Parking will be the most difficult part about coming here, since they only have 2-3 spots in their small lot and it didn't seem like there was any street parking available. read more
