I love Ani's Bake Shop! I've been going here for about 5 years now and one of my favorite things is that is consistant. They have the same counter help, very helpful and nice. They quality of their baked goods, always the best! If you haven't had their banana bread or butter cream rolls, you are missing out!! They are so delicious and not overly sweet, seriously just right, made to perfection! You can buy pastries here as well. It is a great take to your morning office staff, or to get for home. Finally! Made that detour and came here at last! After wanting to stop by forever, it's kind of out of the way, so it's easy to forget about it. They are located in the Halawa Industrial area, so you need to know where you are going before you stop by or els you will drive in circles, but so well worth it! I got the BUTTER CREAM ROLLS!! Oh, my gosh! Delish. They have a variety of flavors such as; peanut butter, apricot, pineapple and many others, but I opt for just the plain original butter cream rolls, no flavoring. So it's basically, a sweet bun cut in half and sweet butter cream smeared throughout, tell you the truth, I scrape some off and it is just perfect for me. The sweet bun and butter cream taste so freshly made. Looking forward to returning. As for parking, they only have a few right up next to the bakery entrance. I like their Chocolate Haupia Pie. You can get it at Costco. It is not recommended to get it without any event. As you end up eating a large amount of the pie with a small family member/s = weight gain. BTW, I found 2 duplicate addresses for this business. Oh, the last time I had Ani's was about 8 or 9 years ago when my friend used to bring me back a loaf every time she'd go home. How I miss those times when she'd always greet me with a loaf of freshly made, sweet tasting, Ani's sweet bread. And it was a plus if she got me ones with filling inside! But now times have changed and not only do I not get my bread anymore (my friend has left SF for SD), but Ani's doesn't make their strawberry-filled sweet bread in the circular pie dishes any more. Now, all filled sweet breads come in loaves (vs the pie dishes) and they only have about 4 filled sweet breads: apple and cinnamon (their top selling loaf), guava, pineapple and something and then one other flavor. In addition to their filled sweet breads, they have flavored breads such as taro, macadamian nut and several others. The shop is attached to the actual bakery and when purchasing your items, you can see the hair-netted employees working. The air inside the bake shop is so sweet and cool that I'm sure their clothes radiate sweet bread fumes. Ani's also sells other pastries as well as pies, none of which I've tried. They're located across the street from a Mauna Loa factory and about 15 min. past the airport so you can always get your fresh sweet bread before leaving Hawai'i! read more

Stopped by Ani's before going to AMR for bls recertification next door and was pleasantly surprised to see that they make poi malasadas! We bought a few of these and a package of the lilikoi butter cream rolls. They also sell a bunch of other things that you can't find in grocery stores. I personally prefer Ani's poi malasadas over the famous Kam Bakery poi donuts because they are much less oily and taste like a delicious glazed taro roll. The lilikoi butter cream rolls have a tasty sweet lilikoi cream in the middle of a soft, moist roll. I think these would make for a good omiyage since they come wrapped up in a pack of 12. Overall, good service, good prices, and yummy goodies. read more

This shop is in the industrial area. I went during morning commute. They have all the bread and pastries out on bakery trays so you can grab, pay and go. Look through the pictures for they're items. Me being a sweets guy, how did I not know about Ani's bakeshop. My cousin Brit has told me about it before and she said its really good but I haven't gotten the time to go and visit them. They are located in an industrial area of Halwa Valley. Its at the beginning so you dont have to go all the way in by the jail if your scared. They are located pretty much where the old Panasonic / Technics building was. I go and visit this place on my day i call in Sick. I always seem to find new places to visit when im sick. I wonder why, but i go and walk in the door and its pretty much a no frills place. Its just three cases and a rack of stuff to buy. Its pretty much the bakery but with a no more than 10 feet store front by the door where you can buy stuff. Im pretty much eating with my eyes at this point and proceed to pick out the stuff that looks amazing and also suggested by other yelpers. The top choice to get when your here is blueberry cream cheese pie. That is top of the list onolicious. Not gonna lie i could have eating a whole pie of this by my self. the next choice was the Jello something. Its in the same cold case as the Blueberry cream cheese pie. and last by not least, the chocolate long john is something to get if your looking to get that one more thing. Great safe choice. I'll be visiting them again when Im sick or when I get a chance to hit them up during my days off on the week ends. Also the prices are not out of this world like the places in downtown / town side. This is the second time that I've been to this bakery--my first was pre-covid. I ordered online since their website touted "curbside" service. I did not want to leave the car and stand in line due to the continuing rise in COVID numbers. When I got there, I waited in my car but no one came out while I saw a line of 3 people get helped. I called the store and a very confused woman told me that I had to go to the window to get my order. It is not curbside if I have to get out of my car. Isn't curbside pickup when you order online and pick up without having to leave the car? Feeling duped by their advertisement of curbside pickup, I went to the window to get my order. When I paid for my order, the woman couldn't wait to get back in the store fast enough. She basically threw my credit card and receipt on the table and ran back in without saying anything. My receipt went flying and I had to chase it down after the wind blew it away. Needless to say, this was a disappointing visit. I left one star because despite the disappointing experience, their lilikoi butter cream roll is amazing. However, no matter how good the bread, I will no longer be making the trek from town for this type of experience. If you are looking for terrific butter cream rolls and pastries, this is the place for you. But if you're looking for great customer service and employees who care, I would stay away. read more

This is one of my favorite local bakeries. Located in Halawa near the Mauna Loa Halawa Office. Can't really miss it after getting off the stadium exit on the freeway. They have a really WIDE variety of baked goods. The one that they are well known for is the butter cream bread, and they come in a variety of flavors. Their top seller is lilikoi. The next top sellers are peanut butter, guava, and lychee. There are many more like cinnamon but you'd have to go yourself! Other baked goods include pound cake and pie. OMG the peanut butter chocolate pound cake is so damn good. The next item I would like to try is the sweet potato haupia pie. Can't wait! They do sell other items like sandwiches too! Not the Ani's it used to be! Sadly there seems to be a trend for eateries to forget their tried and true recipes and use sub-par replacements that not only cost less but that they put less of and charge more for! I used to love love love Ani's everything but after buying some of their items (choc/haupia pie, lilikoi cream rolls and some doughnuts for $60) this morning and coming home and tasting them I can no longer recommend this bakery to anyone anymore . The chocolate filling in the pie no longer tastes like thick chocolate pudding anymore. Now it's like some aerated nonfat chocolate drink they whipped up! The haupia- if you can call it that- is also watered down tasting. And that Mac nut cookie crust tastes like cinnamon and flour. They don't even put the curly shaved chocolate all over it like before just some brown powdered stuff in a small circle in the middle. Why? And now they charge $30 for this inferior pie. And what happened to their butter cream rolls? They used to taste like brioche before brioche was a thing with at least a good half inch of creamy flavored whipped buttery goodness that would melt in your mouth and get your hands all buttery and you could not stop at just one! And they used to be so heavy they hade to put it on a piece of cardboard so you could carry it home. No longer are any of these things descriptive of their "creamed butter rolls". They were dry like dinner rolls with barely a smear of butter. A lot of air has been added to the butter mix making it not so creamy any more. Sooooo sad. Time to find a new bakery. Thank goodness there are new places popping up in Aiea and Pearl City. I can no longer recommend this bakery. I guess all good things must come to an end. I do wish them luck and prosperity and will check on the quality every now and then, I sure will miss their original purple sweet potato pie with haupia and Mac cookie crust! read more

Let me start off with the bake good are the best and I go there when ever I am on the island. Everyone needs to try there Guava sweet bread. This last time here I pre-order prepaid my order two day ahead of my flight back to the mainland with my hope of share this treasure with the family for Christmas. I show up the morning before my flight and they didn't have my order and didn't have a single loaf of what I ordered so I had to settle for what they had which isn't bad but not what I order. How can you not have what I order with 2 day to do it. What kills me was seeing the lady before filling her trunk with all that delicious goodness and not thinking that could have been part my order driving away. I still love your bake goods but not getting my guava bread for the holidays is heart wrenching. read more

I am not a bread person. When I was a kid and my mom gave me toast, baguette slices, Chinese bakery buns, etc. for breakfast while I was parked in front of the TV, I would eat a little (as much as I could stand) and then throw the rest behind the couch. Weird smells and a mice extermination program later, she stopped giving me bread for breakfast. Now that I am older and (hopefully) wiser, I have developed a certain begrudging like for soft, flavorful breads of the Asian variety. I can tolerate baguettes if I'm in France and I can enjoy the buns and rolls served at most fine finding establishments, but for the most part, bread just does NOT get my foodie senses tingling. Ani's is one big glaring exception. No Great Hawaiian Dining Odyssey would be complete without a visit here--and I'M saying that! The sweet bread is a big round circle (my favorite shape) of pillowy soft breadliness and other flavors like the coconut bread remind me of home. This place knows how to bake! You will not be disappointed. Their baked goods are the kind that don't need to look pretty or have a ton of special ingredients packed on top to make it good. It tastes amazing! I went to Hawaii two summers ago and when we went to the grocery store we bought 5 bags of this bread! We got the cinnamon and original because they are bomb!! We were there for about a week and we finished them all! All of them were soft, sweet, and a great go-to snack! This past summer I actually came to this shop and they had a ton of different items besides the bread that's sold in the grocery stores. It smelled heavenly from outside the store, which is always a good sign. They had all kinds of flavors too like taro and guava. I tried both their guava and taro breads but I thought the original and cinnamon were better. But hey, can't blame them for trying because those flavors are not common. Most of the time you have to go to Asian markets or cafes for those. So basically come here or at least buy their brand in the market and you will be satisfied and addicted! Ani's Okinawan Sweet Potato Haupia Pie, hands down, is my favorite pie you can find in Oahu, and quite possibly my favorite dessert dish EVER!! But as far as I know, you can't find this dessert in the grocery stores like their tasty Chocolate Haupia Pie. The ONLY place you can get the Okinawan Sweet Potato Haupia Pie, is at their bake shop on 99840 Iwaiwa Street, and you need to go there EARLY!! Funny how this is only my 2nd time here and I work across the street at the Diagnostic Laboratory Services for the past 8 years at this Halawa location and 5 years before at their Dole Cannery location. This place has so many different yummy choices of rolls to choose from which makes it so very hard to decide which one to buy and try. Go here now! It is in the Halawa industrial area, just off of the freeway. Look for the blue Diagnostic Laboratory sign/building and turn left to drive up the street.........Ani's Bake Shop is on your right. I couldn't find parking so I parked at a nearby park and trekked over (it was not that far away). When they say hole in the wall, they are NOT kidding. This place is a true gem hole in the wall. I came here recently to pick up things for a Thanksgiving dinner. I chose the tiramisu butter cream rolls to bring to my boyfellow's home and the guava butter cream rolls to bring home to my parents. My parents were not impressed, but they're picky Chinese people who don't like anything! While there, I came across so many things I wanted to try. I wanted to get a haupia pie and a custard pie, as well as some of their pastries behind the glass counter. Alas, I was on a budget so I resigned myself to a loaf of fresh cornbread. I expected it to be good, as I had never had it before. It was AMAZING. (I used to hate cornbread - so if I say it's AMAZING...it's damn good!) Ani's bake shop is a hidden gem in halawa industrial. At the first traffic light coming into halawa industrial, you take a left. And immediately after turning, on your left hand side, is Ani's. It's a small small shop so don't blink your eyes or will pass it!! There are only a few stalls in front of the entrance or you can find street parking. When you walk through the doors, inside is very small also. It's not a sit down and enjoy your snack kind of place, It's more like a grab n go. But these little hole in the wall places pushes out some of the best snacks!! My go to item is their popular sweet bread with various flavors of butter cream filling!!! I've tried so many different flavors but still have not tried them all! Peanut butter, lilikoi, coconut, strawberry, guava, and the list goes on. They are all so good that I still don't have a favorite!! These are a great item to bring to work and share with co-workers! I haven't tried their custard pie yet but Fran C says it's da bomb!! I absolutely love this place! Their cinnamon bread is bomb! Even their stuffed bread (cream inside the bread) is awesome! I would recommend to you the cinnamon stuffed bread and the guava and the strawberry ones. Sadly you can't go in as of right now you have to place your order with a baby monitor outside and a staff will grab what you want. My boss gave me a sample of the lemon cream rolls and I was craving for more of it so I had to check out this place. This is a sweet bread pastries paradise! There is limited parking so if there are none just wait a few minutes or seconds because the customers get in and out of the bakery quick. If you are craving for the popular items they will run out in the middle of the day (even if it is a weekday). I purchased butter cream rolls and coconut cream rolls. Butter cream rolls- delicious! The roll is moist and the cream is fluffy and not too sweet. Coconut cream rolls- Delicious! I think all the rolls are moist and it taste fresh as if it literally came out of the oven and onto the shelves. Coconut ingredient is a little sweet so get your water handy. Originally wrote a bad review on customer service however they seemed to improve dramatically. The pastries here is the best. Great place to pick up variety of pies and breads of all kinds. Sweet potato haupia pie is the winner. It'll be the talk of the party. Prices are reasonable considering the size of the pastries. They have awesome sandwiches that comes with a bag of chips.
