We have missed Anita's kitchen in Lake Orion so much we drove down this original location in Ferndale last week for lunch. It was chilly day but sunny and they had heaters so we sat on covered patio which was super delightful. They have benches along the seating area for guests to wait for their tables at a dinner rush which is lovely. We arrived right when restaurant opened but when we left it was packed. Our server Alyssa S was FANTASTIC and super helpful. She brought us tastes of a few beers on tap. I was so thankful because I really didn't like the sour one. I decided on Kittens Ale and it was refreshing and light. The menu is the same as LO had with changing seasonal features. The food was absolutely delicious as always. We ordered our faves: chicken shawarma entree and a side of garlic sauce to go (comes with pita) to eat at home. They changed up their loaded fries with an added homemade queso which was super yummy and I added chicken shawarma meat for protein. Loved it! Can't wait to come back to get our fix of yummy food, great service and fantastic atmosphere!

Anita's Kitchen is always a great choice for some healthy and good food options! I have been many times and the experience is always great. I normally stick to the Spinach Pie, Omega Entre and a AK Lemonade, all fresh and great tasting.

We stopped in for a weekday lunch on this icy cold day. Paid parking out front on Woodward Ave. using the Ferndale Park app. (2 hr Max). We were warmly greeted by the host as we entered, and were shown to their outer enclosed and heated space which was really comfortable, and not loud. Pita was offered by our server. I had a hot, delicious cup of Crushed Lentil soup. The Lamb Burger served with fresh, hot, crispy Fries was large and flavorful with all its spices. Finished with a beautiful Lebanese Rice Pudding. What a meal topper! Price point is entirely reasonable given the high quality of the meal. Beer, wine, cocktails and craft NA beverages as well as healthy smoothies. What a win!

There was a good amount of seating space inside, but I was surprised it was so crowded on a Monday night (a good sign). I appreciate the designated waiting area with benches inside - not everyone was crowding right inside the front door Our food came out quickly once we ordered: - Lamb gyro: at first it looked like it would be dry, but it was just less greasy than others I've had (which is good, and it was well seasoned). There was a good ratio of sauce to filling, i.e. the sauce wasn't oozing everywhere and making a mess. - Falafel: $7 for 4 is a bit steep, especially when they're not bigger than normal. They had a bit of heat to them spice wise, which isn't what I'm used to, but it wasn't overwhelming. Flavor was pretty good. I appreciated the baked and fried options but I decided to just try the traditional fried style. Unfortunately, they were kind of cold when they arrived. - Mujadra: this was a new dish for me! It's rice and lentils seasoned with cumin and topped with caramelized onions. It was a touch on the salty side, but very flavorful and delicious! It also came with a yogurt sauce that was bland (which I don't think it needed anyway) and pickled vegetables which had a very strong flavor and I wasn't a fan of. $8 was pricey for this, but at least it was a generous portion, enough for me to take home for lunch the next day Our server was friendly and came over several times to ask how we were doing and offered to refill my water without me having to ask. I would definitely come back here and try more of the menu, although I'd definitely get the lamb gyro and mujadra again!

Very cool ambiance and decor. Excellent, attentive, and friendly service from Ren and Kayla. The food is delicious! The chicken shawarma is packed full and very flavorful. I loved my chicken and black bean bowl off the seasonal menu. The chicken is so tender and perfect. I love the jalapeño salsa. My lavenberry mocktail was very refreshing. Cool place to sit and hang out. We weren't rushed at all and were encouraged to stay and enjoy our time.

The ambiance of the place is cozy with a dark modern aesthetic and the staff is really nice. The food was okay, but not the best Mediterranean inspired food in my opinion. My friend said her chicken shawarma was a bit dry. The seasonal salmon roasted bowl was a bit over cooked too. The flavors were good though. The loaded fries appetizer was really good. Maybe I'll give them another try sometime because my other friend loves this place and had highly recommended it. But out of the many other Mediterranean restaurants around Michigan, was just okay.

Overall, great experience at Anita's! We started off with some apps - all were delicious. The stars were the raw lamb (I forgot what it's called) and the jalapeno hummus. I would come back for these two alone! We also tried the grape leaves with meat which were good but prob wouldn't get again. The tabbouli was pretty standard. Then for entrees, most the table got the lamb gyro was they thought was tasty and filling. I got the mixed plate to try a variety. The chicken was pretty standard. The kefta had a little too much cinnamon and a lil overcooked. The lamb chunks was the standout so I would just go with that next time. Roasted veggies were delish. Pilaf was underwhelming. Service was great though! Oh and dessert! The baklava was not one of my fav renditions but the lemon tart WOW. Get it!!

Absolutely delicious food, cute atmosphere and very friendly service. I was also very impressed with the affordable prices. This restaurant will likely become a staple in our rotation.

There was a piece of plastic in my soup... the manager Camille acted like it was normal. Gross and weird.

Is your meat and chicken halal?

They do have halal meats available, they are marked as such on the menu.

Do they serve Batata Hara? They're cubed/diced potatoes in a lemon/olive oil/herb flavor

They have a batata appetizer. They described it as potato fries tossed in spices.

Stopped in for dinner and was very pleased with the whole experience. Made a reservation (maybe not…read morenecessary) but it filled up so I would recommend. Cool spot that they have. Kitchen is an open concept in the back right of the restaurant. Big bar in the middle and tables/booths throughout. Went with some friends, so we ordered a fair amount of food to try. We ordered the hummus with lamb, the crispy potatoes, falafel, and the mixed grill. Before getting into the food, quick shout out to our waitress. She was amazing. Very attentive without being too much. Walked us through the menu. Was patient with us. I would have gone back for that alone. The food rocked. The hummus with lamb was my friends' favorite. I thought it was very good. Ample serving as well. That goes for everything. No skimpy servings. Almost $20 for hummus with lamb seems a bit pricy but well worth it. The crispy potatoes were very good. The jalapeño added a little kick which opened up the sinuses. Would order again. The falafel was the best I've had. Perfectly fried. Very nice flavor. Could have just eaten those all night and been extremely happy. Finally, the mixed grill was great. It came with chicken, ribeye, kofta, some veggies, rice, and pita. My one complaint would be that the pita was so soggy when it came because it was under the meat and some sauces which was a little unfortunate. Still a good pita though. The chicken was good. Nothing mind blowing. Nice char. My friends really liked it, so different strokes I guess. The ribeye chunks were nice. Solid medium rare-medium cook on them. Solid marinade/seasoning. Not chewy or fatty which was a bonus cause you never know with steak. Finally, the star of the show which was the kofta. If I go back, I only need kofta as my main. I'm not a huge kofta guy but this might have converted me. Grilled to perfection. The lamb was not too overpowering which can sometimes be the case. Very good portion as well (2 big pieces). Rice and veggies were standard. Nothing special; by no means bad. Highly recommend. Can't go wrong here. Curious how similar it is to Phoenicia in Bham (need to try that). 5 big stars.

Loved all the items we got. We shared each appetizer and entree. I'll add pictures to show the yumminess. And the warm most hand towels after the meal add a great final touch. Possibly the only downside is it was crowded downtown and valet was $20 as a result. But besides that, I highly recommend!!

As such, there was a plethora of excellent restaurants to select from offering Middle Eastern cuisine, one of the best of which was Asya. As is my penchant, when visiting a new city I pop open my trusty Yelp app for places to try and Asya was one of the first recommendations; it doesn't hurt that some of the locals also said they serve up tasty food. Located in a strip mall off the intersection of a busy road, the parking lot is tight, so if there are no spots directly in front of the restaurants, there is more availability off to the side. I stopped by a few times while I was in town, and Asya does a brisk take-out business, especially during the predictable lunch and dinner hours. I dined in both times, so I could enjoy my meal hot and "fresh from the kitchen." The interior is fairly nondescript with tile flooring, black tables/chair combos, and a neutral color palate. But because the dining room is "cozy," it can definitely get loud with just a few tables of hungry diners. The service and hospitality are superior, as to be expected from a family run establishment. I was always greeted with a warm smile and even after just a few visits, the staff seemed to recognize me. I really like the fact that for most of their entrees, you can order either a lunch or dinner portion. The shish kafta was an AMAZING deal at $12.99 at lunch. In addition to the main dish, it is served with either a salad or soup. I opted for the lentil soup, and it was tasty. Soft lentils were stewed in a creamy base and served with a bowl of individually wrapped pita slices. Honestly, I was already getting a bit full after just the soup course. Then the generous portion of the shish kafta arrived and I could only finish 1/2 of the plate, before taking the remaining portion home for dinner. The skewered meat patties were nicely seasoned with grated yellow onion, garlic, parsley, finely chopped mint, salt/black pepper, Sumac, cinnamon, as well as other spices. They were grilled just enough to have a nice char on the exterior, yet still remain moist. Instead of French Fries, I opted to have the yellow rice which was perfect for making mini-sandwiches with the leftover pita slices from my soup. To finish the meal, I had a few pieces of the house made baklava, which was flaky and not too sweet; perfect with my afternoon coffee. On another occasion, I also got the chicken shawarma, which again, was a bargain at $6.50 (before tax) and super filling with a side of fries. There are also many good Middle Eastern restaurants in the DC area, but not the variety of "mom and pop" places like Asya and definitely not at their price point and value.

Good food fresh. Great customer service, stopped in for lunch . Will visit again soon!!!read more
