Stopped in Kabob Royale for a carry out of an order of onion rings and a chicken shawarma. The onion rings were fried hard and very crunchy, but I didn't mind it, they were tasty. The chicken shawarma was probably the savoriest I've had. It was deep in flavor with onions and warm spices. Different from any that I've had in the past. I enjoyed its unique taste. This was my first visit. It's a carry out restaurant that stayed busy the entire time I was there. I grabbed a menu, and it's full of favorites such as beef or chicken kafta, falafel, beef and chicken tikka, catfish, grape leaves, fattoush, chicken Greek salad and lots of other items. You can order party trays as well. Price point is amazingly low. It's definitely a goodie and worthy of a return visit or four. read more

Stopped by here tonight for the first time, after seeing a @chowdowndetroit video about them recently. I love shawarma and had been craving it lately. I was seeing a movie down the street at AMC, and this was only a 7-minute drive from there. They are very fast - I was in and out within 5 minutes! Also, the prices are extremely reasonable - their chicken shawarma is $5.99 (I saw it was $6.99 on DoorDash btw) so with tax it cost me $6.35. it's also huge - I was hungry tonight so I ate all of it, but if you have a smaller appetite you can probably make two meals out of it. Service was fast and friendly at the register, also. Looking forward to coming back here and trying more of the menu. read more

Was hungry and wanted something large and of good value - this place is it. God the Tray # 1 which feeds 2-4 people. It definitely feeds 4 people or two very hungry people. It was very well worth it. It includes all 6 meats on a bed of rice, stews which go on top of the rice, pickled vegetables which added nice crunch. I also added hummus which their version was not bad at all. The picture that I took of the tray - just know the bottom is quite shallow it is a single layer of meat covering the top and rice all on the bottom. One spoonful can touch the bottom. Service was nice when I picked up my to go order. Meat was tender and not too heavy. Will come back if looking for good value large quantity and good quality Mediterranean food. read more

Me and my family frequent here often and now would consider the owner a dear friend of mine. I come in with my son and they treat him like he's one of their own and know him by name. They are some of the nicest people that I have come across in the food service industry and deserve all of the business that they get. I like that this place is so close to home, just a town over in fact. It's not open for dine-in yet as of May 10th. Small strip mall. It looks newish. Ordered the chicken kafta without rice or stew , a large Fattoush and a chicken shawarma without the rice or stew and a large hummus. They will sprinkle some cayenne pepper on it to make it spicy. It's a small mom and pop shop. The woman behind the counter is super friendly and warm and calls everyone sweetheart. $40.24. The woman said please don't complain about the food being too spicy. Food smells good. The service and staff are great. The hummus was super smooth, but it had an odd taste to it and it wasn't the cayenne either. The Fattoush salad was fine, dressing was decent. Good mix and blend of veggies. The chicken shawarma meat was average, not dry, but not moist either. The pickled cabbage was good. The chicken kafta was okay, not dry, not super moist either, lacking in flavor. The kafta could have used more parsley and seasonings for me. Everything had a sprinkling of cayenne, but nothing was super flavorful and nothing was spicy at all. read more

Ok, this review is a LONG time coming. I always mean to take pictures prior to eating, but I forget every single time. Since discovering this place in August, we have been back at least twice a month. Let's start off with the owners. They are quite possibly the sweetest couple I've ever met. Ever! On our first visit, They forgot one of my sandwiches, but the owner called while I was on my way home -I was already too far away- and told me to come in again and he'll make it right. Needless to say, the food was so good, we went back that same week. Now, on to the food. We have tried a chicken shawarma sandwich, chicken kafta entree, beef kafta sandwich, tabouli, garlic spread, and chicken lemon rice soup. Everything has been absolutely delicious! My go-to is the chicken kafta entree- the chicken is always amazing and their rice, don't even get me started! Their shawarma is good, but I don't care for the pickled cabbage and ranch on it, the garlic spread is enough. Speaking of garlic spread, I've never tasted anything like the spread at Kabob Royale. It's whipped to perfection and is so fluffy, my god, it is to DIE for! I was craving Middle Eastern food for lunch and found Kabob Royale on Yelp. While the folks who own KR are very nice I don't fancy KR for a dine in experience. It was too warm to eat in comfortably and there is only one table. If you are having a party or picking up lunch this is your place. I had a fattoush salad with chicken. The dressing wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite and the garlic sauce was the same. In addition there weren't lunch prices. Most entrees are $12+ (just so you know). read more

They can take all my money. They have thee BEST garlic sauce, I always buy a big tub of it. Their chicken cream chop (like a Parmesan crusted chicken) wrap is a MUST. You will get hooked. Their pickled veggies are to die for. Don't get me started with the lamb shank. One time they ran out and I was devastated. They have the best lamb I've ever have. I really wanted to like this place, as I have driven by it a long time and never tried it. For starters, the garlic sauce is very good. Better than most places. The chicken shawarma sandwich was disappointing, however, even with the amazing garlic sauce. Their chicken shawarmas have the lettuce and tomato in them. I was expecting the traditional shawarma with just the chicken, garlic and pickle as the genuine Middle Eastern restaurants prepare them. After opening up the sandwich to remove the lettuce and tomato, the shawarma was hard to eat and the pita was breaking apart. So if you're into the traditional chicken shawarma sandwiches, keep that in mind when ordering and tell them to not add the lettuce and tomato. The crushed lentil soup was the worst I've ever eaten. Three bites and I couldn't eat anymore. The texture was all wrong. The lentils were barely even crushed. The lack of salt and cumin was also noticeable. As for the hummus, it was forgettable. The consistency was not there and it was bland. Based on the food I ordered and ate, I would not go there again. I give them 2 stars, as the garlic sauce was great. read more

I've been meaning to write a review of this place but I always eat too much of the food and forget to take a picture. But i finally remembered to take the picture first. First of all, everything is delicious. I always get the Tray # 1 (combo for two people). The beef shawarma is absolutely incredible and my personal favorite. It doesn't have a bunch of fat on it like some other places do. It's also perfectly cooked, not dry at all. Very flavorful as well. The chicken shawarma is also delicious and melts in your mouth. The chicken cream chop was also delectable. The breading was just right and the white meat chicken on the inside was tender and cooked perfectly. The chicken ticka was also delicious. Cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy white meat chicken bursting with flavor. The beef and chicken kabobs were also great. The yellow rice is soft and fresh. The stews (both white beans and khari) were also good. I personally prefer the khari but that just boils down to personal preference. The owners are always friendly and pleasant. They give a lot of food at a great price as well. My only complaint is that they close so early but it's a family restaurant so it's understandable. I also wish they gave soups (like lentil or chicken lemon) with the meal but no big deal. I just order it as an add-on sometimes. Overall incredible experience. They're almost always part of my weekly rotation now. Home cooked food like my mom makes. Also, keep in mind that this is a take-out restaurant. read more

Got the chicken cream chop sandwich - delicious. They add a pickled cabbage (I think that is what it is) to their sandwich which is unlike most of the other Middle Eastern places in Metro Detroit, and is delicious. Super friendly and fast. You can get the sandwich as a combo with fries and a can of Faygo (or other pop) for $7.99. Parking lot is one way so you need to enter from the south. Hidden gem. read more

Was going to Costco one afternoon last week and knew I should eat lunch before going there or we would be be in deep trouble. Felt like getting some middle-eastern food and a Yelp search showed Kabob Royale, a small strip-mall location on John R. in Madison Heights was on our route. Good reviews led us there and we ordered a lamb shank plate and a chicken kafta plate. After a brief wait in the parking lot for our food, we ate in the car and everything was tasty and plentiful.
