Very glad we discovered Anita's. A great example of locals who know how to do it better than any chain. They just get it right on all levels. Great atmosphere: so homey, comfortable, super-clean, friendly we felt transported out of our crazy, high-octane work lives! I had the Anita's Favorite omelet...the ingredients were super-fresh; spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, and feta. It was cooked perfectly. My friend had the two pancakes, eggs, and bacon breakfast and pronounced everything "excellent". Our server, Tonia, was prompt, attentive, and as sweet as can be. We really loved the feel of this small family restaurant. Every inch of it from the parking lot on displays pride of ownership and attention to detail...it reminds us of some of our favorite places in VT - cozy and a little rustic. We'll be back! read more

We have been enjoying Anita's Restaurant for over a decade, now. The food is always so fresh and tasty - with generous portions, which means a second meal the next day. Prices are still reasonable in today's crazy restaurant scene. My mom enjoyed the tuna melt today (I think it's the best in the area) and the extraordinary french fries (crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). My husband had one of the specials - the Crunchy Chicken sandwich, marinated until tender in buttermilk and pickle juice (really? but it works beautifully) and served with a special mustard and home made potato chips. I LOVED my breakfast burrito with creamy grits on the side. Chelsea took great care of us, as always. Camryn S., Kylie, and Lori made a point to check in and share a smile. The new owner, Jason, is offering tasty specials (like the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich), that surprise and delight, as they transition into their new identity. I worked there briefly as a hostess and I can vouch for how fresh and love-made these comfort foods are. Breakfast dishes all day till 3pm. Comfortable booths. Home cooking by Yonni and her chefs. Ordered 11/16/21-They have it on their menu but they DO NOT know how to make a patty melt. They just slapped a way too thick hamburger patty on rye with I don't know what kind of cheese but not the kind goes on a patty melt and onions sliced way too big for a sandwich. One side of my sandwich had maybe 2 bites of meat on it as they didn't even center it on the bread. We ordered wings well done and they came out raw... so we sent them back and they put the same wings back into the fryer including the one we took a bite out of and brought them back BLACK and then asked if "they were crispy enough now". The theme of this restaurant seems like a diner but it doesn't look like one beyond the few decorations on the wall. They do have a few tvs located throughout the restaurant if you're interested in watching tv while you eat or sit for your food. They are open for breakfast and lunch only, although it says dinner on the sign. They don't do much substitutions, it's a very fixed menu. You can still ask because there are somethings they will do for you. The waffles are good and I often order the eggs Florentine or the egg white omelette. The service is fairly good but the coffee is usually watery. The restaurant advises that it's preferable to pay cash for the tip, but they will take credit card as well. The food here isn't amazing but it's pretty consistent and it's good. The prices are reasonable and it's definitely above a chain breakfast house. read more

First time here and a little disappointed. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and chicken salad sandwich (without the bread). Soup had lots of noodles and chicken but not much else. Maybe one piece of carrot. Scoop of chicken salad on one piece of Romain lettuce and two slices of tomato. The tomato slices were the best part of the meal! They weren't typical Florida tomatoes. They were red, ripe, and delicious. Chicken salad had an odd taste like there was some random spice added. Didn't enjoy. Wife had spinach and feta quiche with home fries. Three stars out of five. Overall bill was about $25 with tip. Pretty high in my book. read more

My wife had the turkey dinner which consisted of 3 thinly slices piece of turkey over 2 tablespoons of stuffing all sitting on a piece of white bread. I had the broasted chicken served with mashed potatoes. Everything was way to salty for my taste. I left most of my meal and don't plan on going back. read more

We are staying in Nokomis to take part in the wedding celebration of our friends Debra and Bruce. As we were leaving for brunch this morning we ran into them and were invited to join them at Anita's. We met Bruce's sister Sarah as she walked up to join the conversation. Debra and Bruce weren't sure how soon they would be arriving because they were awaiting other family members, two of whom were teenaged girls, so we decided to head over because we'd skipped dinner last night. Sarah was heading over there because she needed coffee. When we got to the restaurant we were about to be seated when Sarah came up and invited us to join them, which we happily did. We were seated at a very long table, which soon filled w/ people, enough that another table had to be added to accommodate us all. We were given menus and then the hard work of deciding began. The waitresses handled our enormous group w/ consummate grace and skill. One took one side of the table and the other took the other. Orders were taken quickly and food came out reasonably quickly. I had 2 pieces of French toast w/ 1 egg and a sausage patty. I had hot tea to drink. It was Lipton's. Alan had a vegetarian omelet w/ what he described as tasty home fries and a delicious biscuit. I can testify to that biscuit. The bite I had was so good. They only provide some kind of fake butter spread, so he put honey on it and that was perfect. My French toast was very good and not too sweet. My scrambled egg was good and so was the sausage. The decor is sort of tropical, sort of diner. There is a marvelous full-size silhouette of a turquoise '57 Chevy on the back wall. Very handsome. They sell salt scrub at the front counter and Debra and Sarah bought some. This was a nice locally owned place that offered excellent hospitality. As good as the food was, the service was what really won our hearts! read more

This is the place all the locals go. Even when it's not season they are busy. I take all my friends here, who visit from up north. We always go for breakfast. Our party of 4 had the Benedict, breakfast sandwich(bagel), corned beef hash (real corned beef), and the breakfast combo with very good pancakes. All of us were very happy. Plenty of food. We ordered an omelet with spinach feta tomatoes and marbled rye toast and home fries that were done just right with a nice crust on them. We also had a perfect Belgian waffle, golden brown yum texture with a light dusting of powdered sugar. Add to that over easy eggs, a side of home made sausage gravy, a side of Applewood smoked bacon. Our bkfst club with 10 old guys tried Anita's for the first time. Not one complaint about the food or friendly service. You would think that an important item as coffee would be up to par but it's so awful it spoiled the whole bkfst. They brew it so weak and the flavor makes it almost undrinkable. Worth the wait...we went for the "Grand Opening" & it was great. Locally owned family restaurant! Amber, April & The Crew at Anita's served up a wonderful dinner. The lady who took my check today criticized me on how much to tip because it wasn't 20% and she wasn't even my server. Anywhere I've ever been or even worked in gets what they get and doesn't throw a fit. I think people learn that a pre-k. My tip was not below 15% for my server and I felt obligated now to pay more money when it wasn't what I wanted to do. I thought it was extremely rude for a lady to demand money especially when there are people WHO DON'T TIP ANYTHING. read more
