TL;DR: Wonderful experience. Highly recommend. I purchased a lehenga and a saree -- both are absolutely beautiful, high-quality pieces, and Bristi was very helpful in providing suggestions and guidance. Their in-house tailor is incredibly skilled, taking in a lehenga that is very heavily embroidered and creating a blouse and pre-stitched saree. When I came to pick everything up, he stayed late, going back and forth from his workroom and making minor adjustments on the spot. Rahul also stayed past closing to make sure everything fit properly, teach me how to wrap my saree, and wrap up both outfits so they would stay neat after a long flight. Rating 5 stars for the alteration service as I did not purchase their stock garments. I had a kurta for a wedding that was several sizes too large and needed to be altered, but I was quoted obscene amounts by other shops around Jackson Heights. Rahul's Couture charged a fair price and hemmed my kurta, raised the shoulders, and made the sleeves smaller from the pit to wrist all for $40 in less than a week. Walked in looking for a lehenga and the store staff did not even bother to acknowledge me. The selections are very limited - they have only one size that you can try on. Which is ridiculous because women are not one size, I tried on a lehenga the skirt fit fine but the top was way too small for me. I asked if she had any in my size and said no and did not offer any help. Also, the prices are not cheap which is expected (I've bought plenty of lehengas) but the service was very poor. If you're going to charge hefty prices at least have decent service. I've been to plenty of boutiques and I've been treated extremely well. Being a bride in the midst of covid-19 is not easy. I was at Rahul's last weekend, went in with the intention of buying 1 outfit for an upcoming wedding I'll be attending. I literally walked out with 3 outfits AND jewelry. So, since pandemic, Rahul's Couture slashed their price tags to a remarkable reduced price (we all know how much good quality Indian wear can cost...a pretty penny). The catch is, you can't try on the outfits. At first, I thought wtf? No way, I'm not spending x amount of money and I don't know if it'd fit right or the color/style will look good on me. I have to say, the outfits were mesmerizing (compared to the crap quality in other stores (you'll see for yourself when you shop around)) and walking out with 3 beautiful outfits and 2 sets of gorgeous bangles for less than $1,000...is an an absolute steal. 1 outfit that is good quality and "in style" is over $700 - let's be real, that is for good stuff. Now, if you want to pay around $150-$200 for something, you will get something that looks like a roll of fabric with no style. The owners were very patient, helpful, and friendly - have no idea why the negative comments on here. Honestly, I feel like going back to buy more, but I really don't need more Indian outfits in my closet for no reason. Highly encourage everyone to stop by to browse, will be worth it. read more

Had to buy a dress for a wedding that I was attending as a guest, and I absolutely fell in love with the one I found at Rahul's! It was so elegant and I got so many compliments on my dress from a lot of the other guests! It is extremely well stitched and the material was to die for! I am not Indian and went to Rahul's to get several outfits for my coworker's wedding in India. It was my first time ever purchasing such attire and I have to say that the customer service exceeded my expectations. Rahul was very polite, patient and understood my tastes quite quickly. I needed the outfits on short notice and he even managed to pull off the requested alterations in advance of the agreed upon time. I didn't fully check my package when I picked up my garments and there were several items which were not included. Rahul called me as soon as he realized the mistake and then threw in additional items to make up for the error. While in India, I received sooooo many compliments on my attire. The store owner is disrespectful and rude. We asked him why a sari was marked at a high price for a lower quality sari. As south Asians that wear saris and traditional desi clothing, we are familiar with cloth materials and styles. Instead of explaining about the sari, he goes "What do you know about saris?" in an extremely rude tone. He then proceeded to raise his voice and described the sari. We told him as customers we have a right to know about the saris. He then says, "that's the problem.. customers have too much right." After we called him out on his rudeness he then says "I'm not selling to you goodbye." You can't run a business with that kind of attitude. The store is usually empty with barely any customers and it makes sense why..... welp please beware before shopping here smh. When I asked about what styles they think would fit me, I didn't get any answer, they told me to just look around. I was told that dresses are expensive (oh, and they are! around $800) which I dont mind if it looks pretty and fits me well. I tried couple of dresses and either they were way too small or way too large. I asked if I can try my size (medium) and they said not to worry about, they can tailor it ( but how can I know if the style fits if its way too small or extra large?). Very bad experience. I went to a place close by called Bombay Bridal Boutique and I was welcomed by a very professional lady, she asked me about dress code and other details even before recommending me anything. I went there to buy my wedding sari but I had a horrible experience. It almost left me in tears. The sales girl was nice but the short stocky guy snatched the sari from my hands before I could even look at the sari. I wasn't sure about the red color, so I asked them to show me a different shade of red. As soon as I said that the short and stocky guy snatched the saris from my hand and said that's all we have. I came here recently to purchase a last minute outfit for my cousins wedding event. Rahul was nothing more than patient with me and took the time to show me different looks and styles within my budget. He knew exactly what I was looking for and his service was impeccable. He also knew that since my cousins wedding one week away I was pressed with time for alterations, he took the time to make conversation and while we were doing that surprised me by having my outfit altered the same day, which saved me so much time having to drive back in another day. When shopping for kurtas and sarees for an Indian wedding I was invited to, we had yelped and found Rahul's couture. Upon reading wonderful reviews I decided to give the store a try. Needless to say this has been one of the if not the best shopping experience I've ever had. Rahul offered great customer service was very accommodating with my budget and never made me feel uncomfortable about not being knowledgeable on the occasion and customs. Rahul took his time as I was with a party of 4 and never once rushed us to buy. One of his quotes during our experience was "it's all about helping the people, helping the customer if not this business doesn't mean anything." My wedding isn't until November however I could not wait to write this review for Rahul's Couture. I bought my bridal lengha from Rahul back in October of 2017 for my November 2018 wedding, of course the inevitable happened and I lost weight from since I bought my outfit to when I was planning on wearing it. For weeks I stressed over getting it to fit me once again, especially from being out of state and finding no one that wanted to touch it. Not only did Rahul take hours with me in making sure that I was happy, and every detail of my alterations was to my satisfaction, but he also made sure that there was a smile on my face after I left (I walked in on the verge of tears because I had been so frustrated). His craftsmanship and eye for detail is out of this world; and his designs are unique. My fiancé also purchased his custom Sherwani and sang Rahul's praises from the time it came in and he picked it up. Rahul is without a doubt the go-to person for not only bridal needs but for unique pieces for any occasion. My mom bought her sari from him as well, being as picky as she is Rahul was the only person that fit her likes and style. Went to Rahul's Couture to find my bridal jewelry and was greeted by the wonderful owner/designer. I am quite a flashy dresser so I knew I would be picky when it came to choosing my bridal jewelry. Rahul pulled out several sets that he thought would look great with my outfit. I tried on a few and fell in love with one particular set. It was so unique and different and I knew I would stand out with it on my wedding day. Without any hesitation Rahul gave me the best price he could and was definitely worth it. I bought it and then later that week I attended a wedding and the bride had on the same/similar set (even though she didn't have on the complete set I was intending to wear). I quickly went back to Rahul that week because my wedding was quickly approaching the following week. They have a strict no return/exchange policy but I just HAD to try by luck since this would be one of the most important pieces of jewelry I'll be wearing in my life (after my wedding rings). I explained the situtation and even show him pictures and without hesitation he offered to show me other sets for an exchange. He pulled out a different set that I wasn't too keen on. Rahul insisted I try it on. He obviously knows what he's doing and has so much experience, because it looked absolutely beautiful with my bridal outfit, even better than the original set I purchased.
