Overall 3 Stars - A French inspired restaurant in Colony Park. We had their lunch menu. Ambiance: 3.5 Stars - open concept with small to large tables for dinner for two or larger gatherings. The main dining room has two levels to elevate the ambience and separation of the tables. There is a large wrap around bar on the other side of the restaurant and with a couple of TVs where you can enjoy your dinner and drink when the main dining room is too busy. Service: 3.25 Stars: our server was polite, friendly, professional and accommodating with a couple requests. However, all our food arrived at the same time and we felt crowded with our appetizers, main entrees, bread, and soup on the table. We felt rush to eat the food before it became cold. I mentioned it to our server and he said the cooks were efficient in cooking the dishes. Not satisfied w the answer he gave. Food: 3 Stars - We were slightly disappointed with the flavor of the foods we ordered. It lacked depth in seasoning. Salad: 3 Stars Anjou Salad - basic loose leaf mixed greens salad w a lemon balsamic dressing. Requested salmon as a protein option. The thin fillet was less than 4 oz and was cooked medium well. Slightly seasoned w salt n pepper. The salmon and salad were ok. Also, as stated on the description, the is ONE goat cheese crouton. Don't expect a sprinkling of goat cheese. Entrees: 3 Stars - French Onion Soup : bowl or cup. The bowl and cup version sizes were a little bit different; not much. Maybe two-three ounces. For the money, I recommend the cup size. The soup was good but nothing extraordinary. The beef broth had a decent taste but lacked the wine flavoring and seasoning. The onions, Gruyère cheese and the toasted bread were yummy. Just need to add a little bit more salt and pepper. 3.25 Stars - Biloxi Omelette: Omelette filled w crab, shrimp and mushrooms. The omelette was decent and the filling was good but lack seasoning. You can taste the essence of the crab, shrimp but the mushrooms were bland. It was topped with a light covering of hollandaise sauce, sprinkled w paprika and garnished w parsley flakes. I had to add salt, pepper and dashes of hot sauce to enhance the flavor. Overall: Would I come back? Maybe. I might come back for their Steak and Frites. Absolutely a great spot! Chose this initially for location to my hotel, but fantastic menu. Escargot was cooked to perfection and I chose the duck entree and was not disappointed. Wrapped up with crème brûlée that was delicious. My colleague enjoyed his meal as well and I will definitely return. The Crab Claws were a 7/10. Steak was terrible! Omelette was overcooked with gummy shrimp. The Hash browns were salty, mushy and burned. My Lemon drop tastes like lemonade. I told the manager the food was HORRIBLE, but I still wanted to pay for my food because I felt she needs to know. She listened but clearly didn't care about what I was saying from her facial expressions. She did however remove the crab claws from our ticket. Arrived a bit before 6:00 PM on a weeknight. Was immediately seated and had my drink order taken. A few minutes later my drink and complementary bread arrived. I was early enough to order from the Early Bird menu, but chose the Duck from the regular dinner menu. It did not disappoint! Not everyone can cook duck, but the chef at Anjou knew what they were doing. The Brussels and Squash were a great compliment. For dessert I ordered the Apple Tart Tatin with a scoop of ice cream. It was very good, but a large portion. I recommend sharing. Every item on the menu looked good. I will definitely be back to try them out. If the weather is nice, ask for a table on the patio. We were staying at one of the nearby hotels and were excited to try the brunch after seeing the menu. The atmosphere and restaurant are very nice. Unfortunately, the food was the worst I have ever eaten and that's including MREs and hospital cafeterias. I will say the French onion soup and bread basket were decent. For my main dish, I ordered the sautéed chicken in a mushroom sauce. I took one bite and had to immediately swallow it or I would have to spit it out. It tasted like the chicken breast was boiled, not seasoned at all and had milk poured over it. Was it left from the previous night? Also, the burger my son ordered was the saddest looking burger you've ever seen. It only comes with meat and bread and smelled like someone just took a meat patty and cooked it on the stove. My first visit to Anjou. I'm amazed I have never been here but glad I finally made it. Went for Sunday brunch, and I was glad to see the whole menu was available during brunch hours. I started with the redfish beignets. My server brought me the warmest basket of French bread while I waited. When the beignets arrived, I thought they were more of redfish hushpuppies and that's also how they ate. They were not the traditional beignets you get in New Orleans but they did taste good. However, I would probably not order them again unless I'm with a group of folks to share them. For my entree, I went with the shrimp omelette with the O'Brien potatoes. For the price, you get a lot of food. I was a little miffed at first when I saw the omelette had tiny shrimp instead of the big ones most places give you. But this actually worked out well, as I had shrimp in every bite. And the shrimp were well-seasoned. They had a kick of pepper in them that married well with the veggies. The eggs were fluffy and crispy along the edges. Not dried out at all. The potatoes were not crispy but I found I liked the soft texture of them. I started to get a salad over the potatoes but decided I made the right choice. I can never resist crème brulee when I see it on the menu so I decided to top off my meal with one. To say the dessert was delicious is an understatement. I can't wait to try other things on the menu. read more

Today was my first visit to Anjou but it won't be my last. I truly enjoyed the ambiance, food and overall experience. I ordered the oyster appetizer which came on a bed of spinach and Brie cheese finished with horseradish aioli. I would like to have had a larger slice of warmed Brie cheese under the spinach. The oysters were fried perfectly and seasoned how I like them. The horseradish aioli was a nice balance offering just enough spice for fried oysters in a sophisticate kinda way. It was so good! With the appetizer it's really filling but I could have had a larger or a bit more warmed Brie. I ate the Brie before finishing the oysters and spinach. I love Brie so maybe I'm just spoiled. I paired it with a wonderful pomegranate lemondrop. My waitress was nice and attentive which was welcoming. I ate from the outdoor seating which allows you to gaze peacefully at the pond and water walk that's out back. I can't say anything other than I've found another spot to drive up to for a nice brunch, lunch or dinner. What happens when a locally owned restaurant is taken over by a hotel conglomerate? All things that made the restaurant unique disappear. We decided to give Anjou one more chance for lunch after a couple of disappointments a few months back, and we will not be returning. it is a shadow of its former self. Looks as though corporate bean counters have taken shortcuts at every turn to satisfy the bottom line. We had four items and none were even marginal. Crawfish bisque had an odd consistency which was like an undiluted cream of chicken soup and only had one tough tiny piece of crawfish. It was very salty and I couldn't eat it. Zucchini Beignets, looked like they had been left in the fryer until the brink of scorching, and lacked any taste. It appeared to be a product. Zucchini was nonexistent. Zucchini hushpuppies may be a more apt name for this dish. My wife had the Quiche Lorraine. It was a plain egg quiche with ONE sliver of tough as leather ham, and nothing else. it did not faintly resemble any Quiche Lorraine we've ever been served here in the past. Their Quiche was always one of our favorite dishes. My entree was the Shrimp Linguine. A tough pasta with a tasteless unseasoned sauce. One small slice of sausage cut into small bits, five overcooked tough tiny product shrimp, not fresh, and a sliver of mushroom. I'm fairly certain our dishes had been microwaved before being brought to the table. The waitress warned us both plates were hot. Curious why plates would be smoking hot with Pasta and Quiche. We only ate a little over half of the entrees and called it a day. We were the first customers in the restaurant for lunch at 11:00 am. Our wait for entrees was a little over thirty five minutes. Again, doesn't resemble the restaurant we once enjoyed. Sad. read more

Anjou was located next to my hotel so I decided to walk here for dinner on a Sunday evening. We arrived around 6pm and the restaurant was mostly empty but started getting busy by the time we left. There's indoor and outdoor seating and we opted for indoor. Our server was really good and helped us navigate the menu. We couldn't decide between the fried and buttered crab claws and ended up with half and half. Both were really good! However, we should have asked what the Market Price was because 30+ dollars was a bit much (our mistake lol). We both enjoyed the complimentary bread and had to exercise a lot of self control to prevent from requesting more. The Shrimp Linguini had really good flavor and was full of meat, but the sauce was too thin for my liking. The other guest had a Caesar Salad and order of Fried Oysters (both were good). We were planning to split the Strawberry Crepe for dessert but we got something different than advertised. The menu stated fresh strawberries, but we got a crepe filled with a strawberry sauce. I do not like strawberry sauce so unfortunately had to send it back. read more

It took almost an hour for our food to arrive, and we only had a party of 4. I could tell it had been ready and waiting for a while. The risotto had congealed. The mushrooms and asparagus were dry. The shrimp was way too salty and the dish had nothing to cut the salt, just cheese and salt. The presentation was bad. This is the second time I've had such a subpar experience here. The food isn't worth the money you'll spend here. The ambiance is good though. Just wish the food was worth it. read more

We were influenced by the fact that the owner appropriately responds to negative reviews, demonstrating "hands-on" and caring management. Reservation for 6:30 PM on a Saturday evening; promptly seated at 6:30 PM. Quiet and comfortable indoor seating. Outdoor seating also available. Linen tablecloths and napkins. All wait staff wore white shirts, ties, and masks (much appreciated given the current Delta surge). Classy atmosphere, but not obnoxiously so. Drink and appetizer orders were promptly taken and served. First came a loaf of hot French bread with butter. Then the fried oysters (appetizer) . . . the best we've ever eaten . . . batter was crisp and flavorful, oysters melted in the mouth. Entrée for our youngest guest included batter-fried chicken and hand cut French fries (frites). The frites (also served with some adult entrees) were perfect . . . a little crisp on the outside . . . meaty and moist on the inside. The adults: She had the crawfish crepe (included goat cheeses, crawfish, andouille sausage, tomatoes, and mushrooms in a creole cream sauce), steamed broccoli, and a cup of French onion soup. He had the evening special of grilled jack fish (mild and meaty), corn flour biscuits, all drizzled with creole cream sauce, and grilled asparagus. Five stars are hard to get, even if the place is pretty good. The quality of the food at Anjou's was close to five-star.
