First time visit to Dr Villas office for an eye exam following my family's visit the week prior. Parking: ample in the large parking area shared with Lowes. Drs office is located in Costco to the immediate right of the entrance next time the optical department. Appt made two days out from the call. Check in was quick. Waiting area was comfortable with 5 chairs and Costco at large. Dr Villa assisted with Costco optical printing out my prior prescriptions. Thank you! Dr Seeholzer took her time with the exam [and questions] as did the assistant Sarah with the pre exam vibration test. Overall, vision is good and eyes healthy for another 1-2 years until the next exam. I'll definitely be back for my exams. On to the food court!!!! p.s. I've always gotten my contacts at Costco, but never had an eye exam with them. LOCATION: the optometry office is located to the right as you enter the Costco. EXAM: I had an emergency and needed to be seen without an appt on an afternoon on the weekday. They were very kind to accommodate me, but I wouldn't recommend walking in bc this office is busy. Make an appt! I had my contacts exam with Dr Seeholzer. She was very kind, thorough, and efficient. The exam took ~30min. Besides my contact RX, the doc also gave a RX for glasses in case I needed it. PRICE: very reasonable. contacts exam for $105 (I had no insurance). Paid with credit card. MISC: the RX you are given last 2 yrs. OVERALL: if you're unable to see your private optometrist/ophthalmologist and are in need of an exam for a contact or glass RX, this is a good alternative. read more

This is the second time I have visited this optometry. Janis Nishimoto attended both times, and I am deeply dissatisfied with her services. I am compelled to express my frustration and disappointment, and I will not be returning to this place, which is located inside Costco. The first time I came, she gave me a very high prescription, which was way too high for my vision. I expected a more accurate prescription based on my symptoms and the tests conducted. In April 2024, I went to Dr. Garcia's office for an eye exam. They gave me a glass prescription, and I went to Costco to get my glasses. I decided to get a second opinion by returning to Costco Optometry. Once again, I was helped by Janish Nishimoto, and she asked Costco Optical for my record; she just copied the prescription they had and gave me a new one under her name. I am disappointed because I went to get a second opinion, NOT to get a copy of my previous one. I would never come back to this office again. read more

Ever since I moved to the OC, I was in need of a new eye doctor closer to home. I searched for good ones and Dr. Villa came up with high recommendations and positive reviews. It was fairly easy to call for an appointment with her staff. Park anywhere in the Costco lot. I got there a little before my appointment which was when the warehouse opened. I did have to complete paperwork first but that was pretty straightforward. Dr. Villa was polite and professional. My appointment moved quickly through the tests and scans without issue. She did change my prescription in one eye to correct a blurry vision problem that my last eye doctor caused. (They attempted to make my prescription closer to a similar strength in both eyes in case I wished to consider LASIK in the future. However that hindered my left eye which was trying to acclimate to the changed prescription.) The one drawback is she is limited on what eye insurance she can accept. In my case I simply bit the bullet and didn't get an eye plan that year, but I overheard another patient discussing with the receptionist about the two providers they accepted. read more

She is also not the most pleasant person at the office. So be careful when you book an appointment call three times on different days to confirm and also make sure you got the date and time correctly and be ready to get not the most pleasant service by the front staff. read more

I had my exam with Dr. Bridget Seeholzer. This was my first time having an eye exam done at the Optometry in Tustin. Dr. Seeholzer was great! Throughout the exam, she was considerate, instructive, and communicative. At the end of the exam, she asked me if I needed a case for my glasses or contact lens, both of which I brought for my exam, and thought it was accommodating of her to do so. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Villa. When I called to make my appointment, the receptionist answered as "Dr. Villa's office." However, I realized towards the end of the call they were giving me a different doctor for my exam. When I insisted on Dr. Villa for the exam, I had to push the appointment back to her next available which was a week later. I showed up on time, checked in and was then taken to an exam room. As I sat down, the doctor introduced herself and it was NOT Dr. Villa. I felt stuck at that point since I needed to get a prescription for new glasses and I didn't want to have to wait again for this crapfest to be straightened out. The exam went fine. The doctor I saw was okay but I felt I had to prompt her on certain things that other doctors normally just tell me upfront. I'm giving them 3 stars mainly because the cost of getting glasses there is so darn cheap. Good luck trying to see Dr. Villa. They'll stick you with whoever is on duty apparently. read more

Recently, I went to Costco on Park Ave., in Irvine, for an optical examination and to purchase contacts and glasses . The staff at Barbara Villa, OD, are very helpful and skilled in the preliminary testing, including the COVID-19 screening. The process is expedient and gave me a feeling of safety. Once the staff had put me through their process, I was seen immediately for a complete optical examination by Dr. Nishimoto. It was the most thorough exam I have ever experienced since my first in 1969. Dr. Nishimoto makes you comfortable and feel like family. She asked many questions and noted the answers. I never felt rushed and had all of my questions answered, as well. She tried a couple of different contact lenses until I had just the right fit...I had never known there was a proper "fit." I felt well informed and that my vision was about to improve (while wearing correctional lenses). I took my new prescription right over to the optical department and was fitted for frames, which were ready in less than a week. The staff there is very easy to deal with and quite knowledgeable. I could not be more pleased with the entire experience. I am rarely, if ever disappointed in anything related to Costco. I highly recommend this service to anyone wanting to have a high quality optical appointment at a very reasonable fee. I think it is a top value! read more

I am always skeptical of getting my eye exam. I decided to give this place a try since its conveniently located in Costco. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient. I saw Dr. Nishimoto for contact lens fitting. She was highly attentive, and saw me promptly for my appointment. She was amazingly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. She was extremely thorough with her exam and asked many questions to learn about me. I get eye exams yearly. This is the very first time I felt at ease during an eye exam. They accept walk ins but it's such a large volume of appts it seems easier to call ahead for a time slot. Earliest opening for me was 1.5 weeks ahead--could be because of summer too though. $65 for the eyeglasses exam out of pocket. I don't know who Barbara Villa OD is, but the 3 times I have been here over the last 7 or 8 years she was not the OD that I saw. This past Tuesday it was Janis Nishimoto OD, and she was wonderful. Very professional, with a gentle caring bedside manner. It had been a few years (41/2 to be exact) since my last eye exam. I called ahead a week or so in advance to make an appointment, and arrived a few minutes before my appointed time. For a weekday they were surprisingly very busy, but I was immediately processed by the pleasant receptionist, and quickly called over to the optometrist assistant. You know, the one that puffs air into your eyeball? In short order I was called into OD Nishimoto's examining room, and was put through the usual eye exam routine. At my age, and with a history of a torn retina she recommended the dilation procedure to offer a more complete exam. Sure, why not. Now I remember one of the reasons why I gave up my Costco membership years ago. These oversized carts the members wield like urban assault vehicles is borderline terrifying, as I had 20 minutes to stroll around and be reminded of years past when being rammed from behind. At least I was awarded with a sample of a cracker with roast beef and cheddar cheese. OK, one welcomed membership perk. Pupils now wide open I scurried back to the safety of the waiting room, thankfully no worse for wear. The very sweet receptionist even re-greeted me with an enthusiastic "welcome back!" Perhaps she sensed my trauma? Dr. Nishimoto took me in a few minutes later for my post-dilation exam and reported me to be in semi-tip-top-shape. For a really old guy anyway. This office is a very smooth running operation, and I highly recommend them. Thankfully, you don't need a Costco membership to enjoy the lower exam costs either. I believe the last time I was here the exam was $25, but is now $60, and the dilation procedure is an additional $35. Dr. Villa is the on-site optometrist for the Costco in The District in Tustin (though she is officially and technically separate from Costco). I'd have to say that I've been most comfortable with her over all the other ODs who I've had. Very friendly and personable, she's also very thorough yet doesn't try to impress or dazzle you with fancy optometry-talk. She lays it out very clearly, only going into the medical jargon when completely necessary. She also doesn't try to get you to buy "preferred" products with commissions attached to them from the manufacturer... what you need is what you need. Additionally, the office staff/receptionists are always friendly. Understandably, appointments are highly recommended, though she will take walk-ins if and ONLY IF there are no shows.... and she'll tell you if you should wait around or not. I've been going to Dr. Villa at Costco for a few years for my annual eye exams. I can always get appointments quickly, the front desk staff are friendly and the visits are quick. Dr. Villa (as well as the other doctor now sharing the office) have always been professional, friendly and appear knowledgeable. When I've changed brands or prescriptions, the doctor always gives me a sample or two to test. After one annual exam, my eyes seemed to get worse after about a month or so. I went back in and Dr. Villa did another eye exam and increased my prescription for no additional cost. I will keep going here for sure! read more
