    Mushroom and spinach slice

Stopped in with a large group after a UNC basketball game. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. Besides pizza, it looks like they have calzones, strombolis and pasta dishes. The food was decent and this seems like a reliable pizza joint but if you're looking for more upscale pizza, Chapel Hill and Carrboro have plenty of options. One of our group said this is her regular spot for takeout pizza, so she is a fan.

A fantastic vegetarian slice loaded with good veggies

I love this place. I would classify it as a "hole in the wall" pizza place with great sandwiches and daily lunch specials. I can get two deluxe pizza slices for under 8.00 and the portions are HUGE. They are friendly and once you order your slices, they'll bring it to you. They always treat local teachers with extra kindness. I'm a sucker for their vegetarian pizza options. They load it up with toppings and it's not greasy!! Crust is chewy and thin, my favorite.

The half-eaten slice of Anna Maria's pizza and the roach it harbored, 12/1/2013. Avoid this restaurant!

My wife remembered a…read morefoodie friend recommending this spot, especially for its wall of photos with famous visitors, so we decided to check it out. The restaurant sits on Franklin Street, right in the heart of Chapel Hill near UNC. It's a lively, walkable area filled with shops and restaurants. Parking can be a little tricky--we circled a few blocks before finding a gravel lot nearby (free after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday). Inside, the place had an old-school, authentic feel. The staff spoke Italian, which added to the vibe, and the red curved booths reminded me of classic pizza joints from my childhood. The menu is posted on the wall behind the counter, and you order before sitting down. We also noticed their most recent health score was a 99, which was reassuring. My wife ordered the chef's salad, and I went with the meat stromboli. Her salad was fresh, colorful, and much better than the iceberg lettuce you often get. She enjoyed it so much that she finished before my stromboli was ready. When mine came out, it was served on a pizza pan with a side of sauce--it looked and tasted great. It was also clear they do a strong takeout business, with lots of people picking up orders and the phone constantly ringing. Overall, the food was solid, the atmosphere memorable, and it felt like a local institution that's earned its recognition. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Chapel Hill.

I had a slice of pizza that was not great, but I also cannot judge it since it was a single serve at a very awkward time of day. That being said I'm not getting paid nor doing this place any sort of service exchange. Now that being said I'm doing my review of them just how I would anyone and will not have any special treatment and remember my reviews seem harsh but are actually honest and doesn't always mean I discourage trying them out. At the end y'all do your own opinion of them. 1- pizza is good price is not bad but dough quality in my opinion could be better but maybe it was a one thing missed in this incident but we will see once I try a different time. 2- we had pineapple on it and it was extremely sour and ruined the flavor of the pizza also it felt it hurt the cheese flavor made it more sour or it could have been the cheese but still not bad. 3 - the cheese sticks were actually delicious and well cooked and on the spot. 4 - we got chicken wings in those were near perfect, for the price and quantity and quality they were worth it and really well priced. Now that being said y'all should give them a chance and check them out, I'm sure they will get better in time and I would rather pay them then pay dominoes their outrageous prices for crappy pizza and always always messing up orders and not really caring.

The place was busy and had Italian music playing in the background. It has tables and booths to the side with the main counter at front and you can smell the food as soon as you walk in. It immediately makes you hungry. We were seated at a booth and offered their free focaccia style bread with an olive oil accompaniment, which was delish. The bread was hot and crunchy, but not too much where you could still dip it in the olive oil. We then ordered a personal cheese pizza, the lasagna and the chicken parmigiana (which I didn't photograph). Everything was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and funny. I would def recommend coming here and checking it out.

They changed the complimentary bread to something that was unrecognizable compared to what they had before and it tasted awful. I ordered my standard baked ziti which was too soupy, the ziti was overcooked and there was barely any mozzarella cheese on top, not to mention the portion seemed smaller than past luncheons. My husband had the chicken piccata that was bland and tasteless. We might give it one more try and if it fails again, well......

However, apparently the posted closing time of 9:00 is the last time they seat people rather than a hard closing time where they kick everyone out, as they were still wrapping things up after that time. Indoor and outdoor seating was available, and despite the heat during the day, the covered shaded seating worked in the evening. I found the menu options intriguing, including a vegetarian special pizza that had a lot going on, with delightful little sweet peppers, salty capers, and fried eggplant. Having seen the more basic margheritas being walked by me with a little cup of fresh basil leaves made me think that would have been a good option too, especially with a salad like the one I got with a hint of fennel. The small portion of gelato I got was satisfying, with rich, flaked chocolate. The selections also included imported buffalo mozzarella and some vegan pizzas. The price might be on the higher side for a college student who isn't getting parental support, but the quality was what I'd hoped for.
