    Cockroach

I visited this restaurant in Annangol on February 22 and placed two separate orders one for dine-in and one to-go (Kimchi Jjigae). The to-go soup was for my child. When we opened the soup at home, we discovered a cockroach inside the food. This is completely unacceptable and a serious health and safety violation. Finding a cockroach in a meal especially one intended for a child is shocking, disgusting, and deeply concerning. This incident clearly reflects extremely poor hygiene and food safety standards. No customer should ever experience something like this. I am very disturbed by what happened and will be reporting this matter to the health department.I strongly warn others to be cautious. Please carefully inspect your food before eating if you choose to visit this establishment.

Glad to see this OG Korean spot still running. Their prices has raised considerably and they even charge for to-go containers, but the food is still good. Cold noodles were on point. Spicy squid stir-fry is one of the better ones in the area (other places are skimpy with the squid). KBBQ is solid, although I go to other places for my KBBQ; they do a decent job if you're in a pinch. Shout out to the Korean aunties always hustling & bustling at this place!

I was here on Sunday, the food was food. The staff was friendly and there are plenty of space. I ordered cold buckwheat noodles and some La Galbi with it. You get a lot of value for the price. I'd comeback again.

This is a Korean-style Cheers - a neighborhood restaurant where everyone knows your name! At least that was the case for the older Korean uncles and aunties that were hanging out here (a good sign!). Everyone seemed to know each other, even though they were opposite sides of the room. They roamed around the restaurant and talked to each other like they were at a bar. Many patrons also go to the bakery next door for dessert after eating. It's so cute! I like that this place closes later in the evening. I recently dined here with friends on a cold winter day! We wanted a hot meal to warm us up! I ordered Galbi tang (beef short rib soup - one of my favorite dishes). They gave huge portions of meat and green onion. The huge hunks of meat made it on the heavier side and sinewy parts were quite chewy, but it was all very tasty! My friend ordered BBQ version of galbi (short ribs) - and the dish came with a lot of side veggies you can wrap it in! Nice that they don't skimp on veggies. They also had a lot of variety of banchan side dishes, and we could order extras of whatever we liked. I also ordered hot boricha - barley tea, which arrived in these adorable steel mugs to keep it hot! (Yechon down the street started charging for teas - so I'm glad this place didnt go that route). The waitress was attentive and came back often to make sure we had everything we needed. I saw a sign that they charge a few cents for to-go containers, so keep that in mind if you have leftovers! but they didnt seem to add that to our order!

We had a friend come into town looking for good Korean food. What better place to take her than our very own K-town! This place is great small shop where lots of locals love to eat at. We tried a mix of some of our favorites dishes and every single thing was amazing! The noodles were chewy and refreshing, the Galbi was tender with a nice marinade and the pancake was packed full of veggies and seafood. My only criticism would be on the tofu soup - while flavorful, it was a bit oily for our liking. Service was nice as well. It was a bunch of Korean aunties making sure to take good care of us. Definitely one of the many great Korean spots in Annandale! Apps: Seafood Pancake Entrees: LA Galbi and Spicy Tofu Soup with Beef Sides: Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles)

I came here for cold noodles (nengmyun) and marinated beef on a hot day and it was awesome, taste wise. The vibe is old school and I've only ever seen middle aged Korean people dining here so they confirm that the food is legit. I am reading the reviews and the health code violations concern me but so far I am not sick so hopefully they have improved.

Solid. Started getting busy around 1 pm on a Saturday. The banchan is good. The haejangguk was not really what I am used to (coagulated blood stew), but think they're famous for this dish. The naengmyun was solid and I recommend this cold noodle dish on a hot summer day.

I came to Annangol for the gukbab, and it hit the spot. The broth was clean and comforting. You do have to add a little salt and pepper to bring out the full flavor, but once you get it right, it's really satisfying. The green onions added a nice fresh bite, and the portion was generous without being too much. The meat was tender and not overly fatty, and everything felt well balanced. It's not flashy food, but it's honest and good. Service was relaxed but attentive. There is a call button you can press when you need something. I'd definitely come back if I want a taste of home.

I love annangol for their meat and they have decent lunch special if you like fish and soup. I usually get their spicy pork or LA galbi. This time we got jumuluk and it was delicious. The galbi dolsot bibimbap was good too but I recommend letting the rice at the bottom crisp up more before mixing iykyk.

This place felt pretty authentic. It was mostly filled with Koreans and their families. This is very family style and shareable. The Korean grandma took care of us and checking in. We got the galbi ju mul lui which is really juicy but it was tiny portion for the price and not ayce. I recommend they make a website and update with their menus.

THE place to go to if you're looking for naengmyeon and kogi. Their mak naengmyeon doesn't disappoint and I can easily say that their jumulluk is the best I've ever had - the seasoning is everything. A great casual place to go with friends for a hearty meal.

Updated review for Annangol - This time around, the jokbal was a little too chewy. I think the cartilage to meat ratio was a little off, which was disappointing. But still great service and the banchan selection was constant.

Food (2/5): The peanut appetizer and salad were enjoyable highlights. The shrimp, however, was served head-on and lacked the flavor I was hoping for, and both the shrimp and chicken needed heavy saucing to be palatable for me. Although my mom did enjoy the melon ice cream given to her at the end, she also experienced some stomach discomfort after our visit, which is worth noting. We will most likely not come back because of the food. Service (5/5) : Genuinely impressive. Our server had a warm, persuasive energy that kept us engaged even when we were quietly on the fence -- without us ever having to say so. The manager was equally personable and gracious. Vibes (4/5): Authentically cultural and true to the cuisine. If you're into a traditional K-BBQ atmosphere, this delivers. Overall (3/5) : A step up from K-Pot, but it didn't hit the way Firepan K-BBQ or Gyu-Kaku do for me personally. If you're adventurous and appreciate a more traditional spread, this could be your spot -- it just wasn't mine.

SERVICE: We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and it was not very busy at all, with maybe three tables occupied. There were several staff members behind the counter, but no one was paying attention to anything other than themselves or their phones, and they all had their backs to the entrance, oblivious. We waited & waited for someone to turn around, notice us, greet us, and be served. As for seating, we had only the option to sit at a table because all the open booths were dirty. The restrooms were not much better. After our food came out, they must have finally seen the mess because a couple of the crew members, including the chef, started cleaning up the tables. Great to finally see the place get cleaned, but the dining room should never have been in the condition it was in to begin with, especially with it so empty and the staff just standing around, oblivious, as if they had nothing to do... *sigh* & insert a big eyeroll! FOOD: Not surprisingly, the food was average because "you get what you give" and they obvi didn't give a.... Surprise! lol As always, peeps, support your local small biz, and yes, I would possibly give them a second chance because I do love GAR concepts, but if I do go back, it won't be back anytime soon, or I may not go back at all and stick with my faves of their concepts that I love and know they work, i.e., Patsy's, Silverado, & Sweetwater. 5/31/26

They share a space with other businesses in a somewhat food hall/bar type of vibe. Some businesses from the original "the block" food hall have moved here like snocream. There are a lot of different plate, bowl, and combo variations to choose from. For my first time, it was very hard to choose but I opted with the seafood combo which has fried fish, fried shrimp, and a choice of meat. The flavor is amazing especially the bbq marinade on the beef. The batter used for the shrimp and fish tastes the same, a little bland, but light batter not overly greasy. I'm not sure what authentic hawaiian food is supposed to taste like to compare this but I think the seafood needs some kind of sauce. Portion size is great, one combo plate can be shared between two people but u might want to have your own as you're eating it. The take-out menu vs. dine-in menu are a little confusing, I'm not sure which has the better value and/or if theres any difference in portion size or what-not but we got the to-go combo and just ate in store. The dine-in menu I was told just gets plated instead of put in a box but i'm wondering if you get more/less meat in that sense because why are there two different menus? Overall this spot is pretty solid and a different kind of cuisine thats good to have around the area. I went with one of my favorites, the lechon. They were out of the roasted version, but the staff recommended the fried pork instead, and it did not disappoint. I came in around 7:30, and they close at 8, so I was trying to be mindful and not hold them up. But the woman at the counter was incredibly kind and told me not to rush at all--"you're already inside, take your time." That level of hospitality really stood out. She even took the time to walk me through the menu, which I appreciated, even though I'm already familiar with Filipino food. The food itself? Amazing. The lechon was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The portion size was generous, and it came with two Lumpia that were hot, fresh, and delicious. The lumpia had an excellent flavor. The fried chicken and pancit were okay. JP ordered the Combo #3. The only difference between the Combo #1 and Combo #3 is that the Combo $3 comes with fish instead of chicken. It also comes with a skewer of meat (pork?), which was good.
