We went here to celebrate my sister's birthday and holy moly are we glad we did! The ambiance was so spacious, with old world charm and such amazing fun windows. The staff were so attentive, kind and welcoming and went out of their way to make our evening special. We ordered multiple dishes to share, but the lamb momos, coconut naan, chicken Korma and palak paneer was 10/10 for me. Everything came out fresh and clearly made to order. Okay, so, let's get the bad part out of the way. I placed an online order via their website and waited the approximated time, and then headed to the restaurant. I was immediately dismayed to learn that the order wasn't received. It's at that point that the manager (who I should note was extremely apologetic and showed a hospitality-first spirit of friendliness) comes over and lets me know that 1. Something is up with their website and 2. They'll get to work on my order and that it'll take 15-20 minutes. I was pretty grumpy and decided to go for a walk while I waited. So, why did I review them 4/5 stars, and how did they save the situation? By the time I came back, the manager let me know he added a free order of samosas and rice pudding to my order. Free food, who am I to complain about that? He said they needed an additional five minutes, so he proceeded to hand me a complimentary bottle of water. How's that for good service? I did one more round around the block, and when I returned my food was ready. He even offered to help me walk the two bags of food to my car! Food I ordered: Tandoori chicken; rice pilaf; lamb curry; onion and coconut naan; aloo matar (peas and potato in a red sauce). Everything was amazingly flavorful, and the tandoori chicken was the juiciest chicken I've ever had. The food being so good alone could make me forget everything that happened. This spot is a hidden gem in downtown Oakland. Our group of four had the kabocha squash fritters, salmon tandoori, saag paneer, lentil soup, raita, naan and two kinds of rice. All were excellent but the salmon was over the top. Two very large, moist filet cooked perfectly in the tandoori, a medley of vegetables and herbs. The paneer was a flavor explosion: so much spinach, delicate flavor. So delicious. Service was perfect and gracious. Attentive but not hovering. They even have a full bar! Yummmmm First time coming to Annapurna and ordered 3 main dishes to bring and eat at home! Spent $60 and felt like it was worth it! Salmon curry was good, never had it before and I'm glad I went out of my way to try it. It has a lighter flavor profile in comparison to the tikka masala but that isn't a bad thing! Chicken Tikka was very good and great flavor and seasoned well and not overly creamy. I wish they used chicken thighs over chicken breast but - it's only cuz I'm a dark meat gal when it comes to chicken. Palak Paneer was tasty! Good amount of seasoning and flavor - overall happy! A big basmati rice came with the dishes and the garlic naan was good - not as spectacular as some might suggest but definitely good if you prefer naan over rice! The gulab jamun was a perfect ending! A hidden gem! I've passed by this location a few times on the way to work and finally I decided to visit here for lunch with a friend. I had to try the Butter Chicken, which is my favorite Indian dish. It did not disappoint!! It was hot, fresh, seasoned and spiced perfectly. I opted for "medium spice level", which was okay, but next time I may try the next level to experience a bit more tingle. The garlic naan was also delicious, fresh and hot. Service was good and the waitress was very kind, pleasant and answered our questions about the dishes. Varying levels of success in the dishes for my taste. I swapped out CTM for the butter chicken based on some of the reviews I saw on here. That was probably a mistake Coconut chicken I would give 4 stars. Solid flavor had a very minimal amount of heat ordered "spicy" I hadn't had a coconut curry before. Enjoyable dish for sure. Butter Chicken I would give 1.5 stars. Bluntly put it was a watery mess that had barely any flavor. Chicken Biryani. I guess 3 stars. Nothing super off putting,but in comparison to every other biryani I've eaten it had very little flavor. Both Naans were passable but nothing amazing. If a friend wanted to eat here I would go and order coconut chicken. Outside of that I don't think I would order/stop in again. They wanted me to use their website which I completely understand. (I want to help them keep money in house as well) They may want to look into pricing either on delivery apps or their own website. For 3 dishes and 2 naans. We walked in due to the smell after the first place we looked at was unexpectedly closed. Imagine my surprise when I had the best samosas of my life and a delicious curry. Vegetable korma - loved the variety of vegetables included, flavor was also great. Goat curry - first time trying! Definitely had a distinct taste, similar to how lamb does as well. Located at the corner of 10th & Clay, I've walked past this place many times and opted to have lunch here with a colleague. As shown in the photo, this place serves Indian and Nepalese Cuisine. The Chai tea is decent, the interior decor clean and fresh with a gorgeous bar and a pleasant vibe excellent for one on one conversations. For appetizers, we tried the mixed Nepalese dumplings (chicken, lamb and vegetarian) or Momo. They are served with a tomato based sauce and were excellent. For the main course, I had the chicken Marsala which tasted delicious. For lunch, this place is a tad pricier costing $80 for 2 after tip but you'll leave filled up. Excellent and friendly service. I decided to get food here based on someone from the UK stating on a review this was on a par with the amazing Indian food we get there. Whomever wrote that needs to go to the local consulate and surrender their passport immediately because blimey they were wrong. This isn't even good by local standards. The Butter Chicken curry we ordered was tasty enough, nothing special but the sauce was split and left a watery mess in the bottom of the bowl making the rice soupy and unpleasant to eat. The Lamb Curry had been over braised and the meat was dry. Both curries had unremarkable flavours and the Onion Paratha was undercooked bread studded with far too much raw red onion. Overall, not a fan. My husband enjoyed the Mango Kulfi though. read more

This place has been on my radar for years. I can't even count the number of times that I've passed it by. Finally decided to try it out with a friend and we had a pretty enjoyable dinner. The space is actually pretty large and open. The decor is very classic and beautiful. Reminds me of the Roman/Gothic era. Service started out well but drifted as the night went on. They did get a bit busier so they might have been overwhelmed. We ordered an array for items to share including: *Raita: Nice and creamy but didn't really taste like much. *Veggie samosas: Excellent! Fried to perfection with a wonderful crispness. *Veggie momo: Very yummy! Perfectly prepared dumplings with a tasty dipping sauce. *Chicken momo: Good but lacking in flavor a bit. Surprisingly, the veggie momos had way more flavor. *Garlic Naan: Incredible! Fluffy and garlicky but not overwhelming. *Lamb biryani: Probably my least favorite item out of everything that we got. I'm not a huge fan of lamb, so maybe that's why. The spices were good and flavorful but everything tasted dry. *Chicken tikka masala: Creamy and delicious. Tikka masala is my fave so it's no surprise that this was my favorite dish. The only downside was that the chicken pieces were dry. Portions were good for the price and since we ordered a lot of items, we had plenty of leftovers the next day. So, some things were a hit and others were a miss. Overall, I still think that it's a good option for Indian food in Oakland. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back here again in the future. read more

The food came out relatively quickly but the portion sizes were relatively small considering the price. Was craving indian food. Tried the indian food. Loved the indian food. Spur of the moment, really craved indian food and decided to come here with a friend. We ordered samosa, fish pakoor, chicken korma and naan. For beverages, chai tea and mango lassi. Im pretty basic. I like my naan. I like my rice and my go to is tikka masala. But for some reason, this place made me want to be a little bit adventurous and it paid off. Veggie Samosas: two pieces came pipping hot out of the fryer with a side of tamarind chutney. It was filled with potatoes, some chickpeas and herbs. The tamarind sauce had some heat to it and combine it together, it was all very tasty. Fish pakoor: super crispy. Big chunks of white fish and the battery was soooo light served with a side of mint water. I feel like this was the underrated dish. Perfectly fried, the batter was perfectly seasoned and honestly when it was served, i almost mistaken it for fried chicken tenders. Chicken korma: i wanted something creamy but not as creamy as tikka masala from too much dairy. The chicken was dark meat and tender where you can cut it with a spoon. Although came in a serving bowl, there were big chunks of meat and plenty of sauce. It was nutty from cashews, you can see whole spices like all spire and cloves, perfectly seasoned and really delicious. This came with a side of rice. Definitely delicious with a side of naan. My friend and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't busy at all, but there was not someone in the front of house to seat us. We were seated once someone came out from the back. Food: My friend and I shared the pumpkin pakora to start. It was good, but a little oily for me. I ordered the paneer tikka masala for dinner, and it was amazing. I thought it was really flavorful. We also order the garlic naan, and that was perfect with my masala. My friend ordered the chicken korma and also thought that was amazing. Service: Service was a little bit slow. The staff was often in the back and weren't available or nearby when we needed something. The staff was pretty friendly, and our food came out promptly after ordering though.
