In fact replacing as preventative can actually create the need for a later root canal! They are shameless. There is huge turnover with their front office and billing staff which explains why they are so careless with people's dental claims. They overbook patients leading to extremely long wait times upfront in the wait room with NO WiFi for patients and while in the chair for even the most routine of procedures. Parking is very limited in a lot where most parking is reserved for other vendors customers and paperwork is constant. They do NOT answer their phones! The dentist office is easy to find via GPS, and has plenty of parking. The office is clean and the staff is very friendly and professional. Barb is my regular hygienist and she is gentle and professional. I've had to have one cavity filled here, and Dr. Castaño is the most gentle dentist I've ever had ! You can't even feel the numbing shots and getting a cavity filled was virtually a pain free experience and as pleasant as getting a cavity filled could be. I had a lot of anxiety leading up to the filling, but afterwards, it wasn't a big deal at all. I've had concerns about my TMJ problem, and Dr. Castaño had me fitted for a night guard, which has significantly reduced my jaw pain. That is not a full medical record. It didn't give any names of the people that treated me. My visit to Coast Dental Metro West was alarmingly disappointing. I initially scheduled a 2:00 PM appointment at Coast Dental Metro West. I received a text stating there was an issue with the online booking and requesting to move it to 3:30 PM. I called the office to confirm and spoke with Alejandro, who told me there was no record of my original 2:00 PM appointment but then scheduled me for 3:30 PM. I took time off work to attend the 3:30 PM appointment. When I arrived, the waiting room was completely full and a letter taped to the reception window explained they were short staffed. I checked in and asked how long the wait would be. The receptionist, who was very friendly and professional, said it could be about 30 minutes. I pointed out that there were at least six people already waiting and that I had overheard others asking how much longer it would be. She still estimated around 30 minutes. I waited patiently and by 4:30 PM the receptionist told me they would need to reschedule because they were still running behind and the dentist was leaving at a set time (5 PM). After waiting an hour in the office, I was turned away with no service. I called Coast Dental's Patient Quality Assurance line at (877) 880-1212 to report the experience. The patient advocate apologized but also admitted I was not the first person to complain about this issue, which is deeply concerning. He advised this was documented but offered nothing else. This office charges cancellation and no show fees to patients, yet offers no compensation or accountability when they cancel on a patient who has already arrived, waited, and rearranged their workday. If a patient is expected to respect the office's time, the office should respect the patient's time just as much. This was a complete waste of time and a poor reflection of how they manage scheduling and patient care. This level of disorganization and disregard for patients' time is completely unacceptable.
