For all you nay-sayers that have nothing good to say about this place, shame on you!!! Tonight, April 11th we went for the 1st time to this magnificent little hidden treasure!! Believe me, the prices are phenomenal and portions are astronomical! My wife ordered the medium spaghetti, loved it, but couldn't finish it! Me, my daughter and son-in-law all had the mixed giblets (gizzards and livers). No way could I finish it, but I'll have a good lunch tomorrow! The bread really is very good and we got a second loaf and both nice and warm!! I really highly recommend trying this place and if your first time wasn't fantastic, give them a second chance!! We were visiting the area to hike. Didn't have reservations. The people were very nice. We sat very quickly. Drinks came out very quick. Service was great. BUT the food was amazing! Calling ahead on weekends is a must as the place can get quite crowded, mostly locals enjoying a nice family dinner or an evening out with friends. Went there on a Friday night. Got a warm nice loaf of bread as soon as we were seated. The bread was good. There is a full bar so you can order whatever you feel like. Main entree choices are mainly steaks, chicken, pastas and fishes. Entrees other than pastas come with a garden salad and a choice of potatoe. We ended up ordering a medium lasagna which was homemade and good. Plus you can't beat the $6.95 price. Also ordered the fish special of the day which was grilled salmon. The garden salad was fresh and cold. The salmon was well prepared and well seasoned although a bit on the salty side and it came with steamed asparagus which was unexpected and a plus. The pros: good bread, low key atmosphere, friendly service and good quality of food for the price. Could need improvement: paper plates for the bread and baked potatoe came with imitation sour cream in a UHT pouch. Still one of the better place for the area. Will go back. read more

Went on a Saturday Night, was quite busy... glad we made a reservation. Disappointed that we stood for several minutes and were never greeted by anyone. The bread was delicious as many people have stated in their reviews. Tried the fried chicken because everyone else was ordering it, figured it must be good. It was okay. The ribs were good, fell off the bone. The meals come with a salad, which is a bowl a iceberg and some dressing. A cucumber or tomato would be a nice addition. Although, we did not order any... They had fresh strawberry cream pie that looked delicious. The best part about this place was the reasonable prices. Very inexpensive, could see why it was very busy. I don't understand the fascination with this place. Horrible service. "It will be just a minute" should be the motto. We were told that they had a new appetizer which was an Italian twisted bread with a variety of sauces. Do you know what this special Italian appetizer was? A pretzel. I kid you not. I compare every prime rib I eat to this place. I have found one or two other places that will hold up to it. The issue I have coming in here is "Do I order the prime rib or chicken family style?" The reason I give this place 4 star instead of 5 because this place does get stupidly crowded. Had ressies one night and still had to wait over an hour to get seated. Also, the bloody marys are so good here that I can even get my mom to drink one! read more

In a previous review, I commented that the bread was not what you would expect at an Italian restaurant. I still consider this an Italian restaurant even though another reader does not. It's Southern Italian, which I agree is not nearly as good as Northern, but that's what most Italian restaurants serve in this area. I'm writing this as I'm here...... I came into poor lighting.. There's an odd smell of urine....? Temperature is a little bit on the cold side, although I prefer it to be more temperate. Mozzarella sticks=amazing Bread = great Marinara sauce is great Ordered chicken. It is a little overhyped. Final Summary: All in all it's a good place. I recommend it mainly to family and friends. It's not the best place to spend with your partner or spouse (mainly because it's a loud place with odd smells). The bathroom is nice. Atleast the male bathroom..... Horrible service and skimpy food. Went here a couple weeks for a party of 20 for a bachelorette party and it was good. So I scheduled my rehearsal dinner for tonight with a total of 22. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Ordered chicken family style. No one explained you don't get to choose your own salad dressing like you would if you ordered dinner, also did not explain you dont get to choose your potato (fries or baked potato) they choose for you... or if you want white or dark meat. They bring out whatever they decide to cook which equals 1 1/2 pieces of chicken a piece per person which is fine if everyone knew that and would of got to pick what kind they wanted like you would get to if you ordered off the menu. 1 plate of mostacolli and spagetti for a table of 10 and 12 grown adults. Waitress was in an upset mood acted put out and kicked a chair out of her way when putting food on the table more forcefully than a scoot ( my chair that I was walking to..) into my 2 year old daughter who was in my arms... never apologized even after my daughter started screaming and crying. Waitress started yelling in my sister's face. Not professional very disappointed. Like I said just wish I would have been told "all the rules" before choosing"chicken family style for a big group" because I wouldn't of came here or would of ordered individualy off the menu like 2 weeks prior for same number of people. We tried this place for the first time while visiting the Utica area. We both ordered the Queen Cut Prime Rib. Usually we like to get different things when we try new places, but the prime rib was recommended to us. They were huge cuts of meat. They were perfectly trimmed and deliciously seasoned. The chicken must be great here, because there were many people that ordered it. We both took home over 1/2 of our steaks. They make a good drink too. Strange comment about what the other reviewer said about the bread. We received a VERY crusty, warm and delicious loaf of bread. It was served with real butter. Anne's has THE BEST fried chicken in Lay-Salle county. A visit to this fine dining establishment is like taking a step back in time when the pace was slower and food quality was the number one priority. This is local favorite chicken and steak joint which is famous for it's family style chicken which is half fried chicken, half order spaghetti, half order of ravioli ( which any where else other than the Illinois valley would be called tortellini) plus bread and salad. $7.95 for dark $8.95 for white. They are also famous for their prime rib, fried gizzards and rib eyes. This place fills up fast on the weekends, so call ahead for a table. read more

This was my first and last time at this restaurant. Three friends and I had tickets for a show and reservations at this restaurant. I had heard good things about this restaurant. When we arrived you walk through the bar which smells like urine. Neither the bar or the restaurant were busy at the time. We were seated at a table and given menus, and the waitress took our drink orders. We informed her that we had tickets for show and needed to leave in an hour and 20 minutes. When she came back with our drinks we placed our orders. She came back with the bread and the salads. The bread was the only good part of my meal. The salads were in small bowls, two of which had chips on the edges, and it was only ripped up iceberg lettuce. We waited for 45 minutes for the rest of our food to arrive. During that time the waitress came once to refill our drinks, and we asked what was taking our food so long. When it did, arrive we had 15 minutes before we had leave. When our food arrived we immediately asked for checks. I had ordered prime rib, medium rare. It was way over done, not a single piece of it was pink. We called the waitress over and I shared with her my complaint. She offered to have them cook another one. I declined as we had no time. The baked potato was under done, as it was hard to mash up. We had to track down the waitress again to get our checks. I think our waitress had too many tables, as she seemed way too busy and unable to pay attention to each table well. not happy with there service. we had a table of 10 reservations at noon, we were the the third table in the place. we put in our order and waited and waited and waited. People that were seated after us were getting served and some getting their to go bags. Finally a friend at our table asked what the hold up was. never really got an answer and we waited another 15 minutes. the food was great but OUR WAITRESS who later we found out was the owners wife was POOR. she never asked what she could do to make it better for the hold up never came back to our table until we were ready to leave and then started putting on the charm . Oh yes and our daughter didn't get her food till we were almost done eating ours. If you are looking for great service with a smile, stay away. If you don't care about that and want a decent meal then check it out, we were highly disappointed . :( this wasn't our first visit, but never the less something should have been said or done to make it right we waited too long for a 12:00 seating., and we were the 3rd table in the restaurant when we arrived. read more
