    Cheese Squares
    Rhonda S.

A small, dark restaurant (hence the name "Hideaway") for a cozy dinner. Dined here with my uncle and auntie, and had a very nice meal. We started off with sharing the cheese squares which were by far my favorite. Lightly fried, not too greasy, melty and gooey. I had a crispy side salad brought to me first as part of my meal. The blue cheese dressing tastes homemade and was very good. The salad is just a small plate of ice berg lettuce cut into pieces, nothing to write home about. The fried pickles appetizer was just meh, not sure if it was the breading that was underwhelming or that they were too salty. Not crispy enough. My main meal was Shrimp (grilled) and hash browns - ! - on the side. Hash browns as a dinner side dish?? YES please. I inhaled it. The shrimp was served on a skewer and were enormous pieces, perfectly grilled. It is a menu catering to the carnivores mostly, lots of steak and pork. If I didn't eat fish or seafood I would have been in bad shape as I don't think there was a vegetarian item on the menu (besides salad). Very limited if you don't eat any of the above. They also have chicken. It is a popular local place, and my parents used to frequent here back in the 70s and 80s. It is not my favorite place in the area due to the limited pescatarian/vegetarian items on the menu, but it is good food and service overall.

    Delmonico ribeye with onions.

This place is amazing. I ordered the stuffed cod. It had crab and scallops in the stuffing and was in sauce. So good!! My husband got the Delmonico ribeye. Yum!! Our orders came with salad and lots of good options dressings , plus fresh bread. We both got old fashioned and they were delicious too. Our server was really cool!! I can't wait to go back.

Best chicken in the area. We especially like their family style chicken with spaghetti and ravs.

Definitely don't judge an establishment based on what it looks like from the outside…read more This looked like someone's house but you walk in and it's a cozy restaurant with an amazing patio. We were seated in their second dining room which was away from the bar and main dining room. We were kinda bummed we got sat there but it ended up being ok. There was a large party seated behind us so it was quite noisy. We ordered martinis which were good. For an appetizer we got the fried pickles and those were delicious. Full of dill pickle flavor and the breading was very light. I ordered the salmon and sautéed spinach which was one of the specials. My dinner companion hit the rib eye and blackened shrimp. Both entrees came with a salad and the steak with a potato. Our appetizer and salads came out right away. The salad was very disappointing. Only lettuce pretty much, no tomatoes or anything else. I think it might have had cucumber. Very lack luster. My salmon and spinach was great!! I enjoyed it and the salmon portion was generous. I had enough to take home. The ribeye was cooked medium rare as requested and it was very good. Shrimp was great and had a nice spice to it. The French fries were cold though. Service was ok. I would definitely try them out again but be warned that they are a bit overpriced. Parking is terrible and you need a reservation. The patio was nice and I loved the fire places. There was live music that night. Overall good place for maybe a special occasion.

Shea was our waitress and did a great job. We started with the soft shell crab appetizer which was a bit underwhelming. It was tempura battered but it contained just two pieces of crab, two onions and two pieces of broccoli. I would not get this again as I thought there would be more crab. The tuna tataki appetizer made up for it. The pieces are generous, covered in sesame seeds and melted in your mouth. The dipping sauce was a great addition. We also shared an MJ roll which was wrapped in soy paper and had tempura shrimp, yellowtail, jalapeño and cucumber. It was quite good. We also had a dragon roll which my husband really enjoyed. It had shrimp tempura, BBQ eel, avocado, cucumber and eel sauce. My aunt ordered avocado salad and added chicken. It had generous pieces of cut chicken on top and was a nice looking salad. My husband also enjoyed the gyoza which were six large potstickers filled with chicken. They serve wine and beer, plus have a small selection of sake. They were sold out of all sake except Gekkeikan sake, which we tried cold. The waitress made a little mistake at the end with the bill and credit card payments, which she credited and redid. We paid cash for one meal and card for the rest but the cash item was accidentally added to the total bill and credit card. It was corrected and all was fine. We loved the food and atmosphere and would definitely come back.

There were only two high school-aged employees working and just one other customer in the entire place -- it wasn't busy. There's no excuse for zero service under those conditions. The restaurant as very clean and the staff were very friendly but the food will be the reason I return if I'm ever back in the area again. The menu is very diverse. It has just about everything on it. I had not had a hot meal that didn't come out of a box and a microwave for a few days. I ordered the chicken tenders. It came with fries and soup. You could choose from French Onion or Chicken & Rice. I chose the chicken & rice. I should've just ordered the soup because the chicken & rice hit the spot. It tasted homemade and it was hot on a VERY cold day. I hadn't ordered chicken tenders in awhile because they are so common and rather blah. These were different though. They were battered in something that was like tempura. They were excellent. My only complaint is that I had too much food and couldn't eat them all. I've also gotten to where fries don't excite me any more. They are often bland. While these were incredible, they weren't bland and were very good. I paid with cash which knocked 3.5% off my bill, so get some cash before you go. The cost was reasonable as well. In total, my meal was just under $14. This was a great meal! Highly recommend!
