Food was very good. We went on a Saturday night and had the French onion soup, salad bar and we both had the prime rib dinner. They came with a side so I had the baked potato and hubby had the fettuccine alfredo. Everything was delicious. The steak was cooked properly for us, the baked potato was excellent, not a "hard" spot in it. Our server was spot on and made a drink recommendation of the Amaretto stone sour. It's not one of my usual drinks but I decided to give it a try. Glad I did! We didn't have dessert only because they had some sweets up front in their case that looked delicious so we got some of those instead. read more

Found this place on a random Google search, so we went for Sunday brunch. What an array of food, everything homemade and so delicious. I haven't been that stuffed since my mom used to make Thanksgiving dinner back in the day! Wonderful staff, great atmosphere, and the grounds surrounding the restaurant are to die for! Very nicely appointed restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is nicely decorated as it name suggests as a large farmhouse. We came for the fried chicken which we had read about in an Illinois travel magazine. I ordered the two piece Light Chicken served with mashed potatoes and gravy. Our waitress said that the special included the items I ordered plus came with stuffing, a side of spaghetti and the salad bar for the same price. Do why wouldn't you? My wife ordered the four piece mixed chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. The salad bar was quite extensive and included a nice selection of breads. My chicken looked wonderful as did the sides. I scarfed down the wing (my favorite part). It was wonderful. Exactly as described in the magazine. The sides were also flavorful. The breast looked great, the skin was very crispy and tasty. The meat, however, was very dry like it cooked too long. Finally the spaghetti and meat sauce left me happy again. My wife loved her meal immensely. We would probably give it another try if we were in the Ottawa area again. read more

We made reservations as recommended. (6:30pm on a Saturday night). It was my husband's birthday and he wanted to try this restaurant as we had heard good things about it. We were able to be seated right on time. Service was a little slow. We made a trip to the salad bar and then we sat. And sat, and sat, waiting for our food. We were debating leaving as 45 minutes had passed with no dinner and just as we were getting up to leave, our food showed up. (this was an hour after we were seated). We were told that the kitchen was slammed but I brought up that you take reservations and you knew how many people were coming. We stayed and ate our meal. The food was delicious and we had very good sized servings. We ended up taking half of it home. When we were leaving, the hostess asked how everything was and I told her about the experience. She was very nice and understanding. I did tell her we were disappointed. My suggestion, if you want to try this restaurant, is to allow ample time for your meal knowing that there is a long wait to get your food. I would not bring younger kids as they would not be able to wait that long. Note - there is a 4% fee for credit cards. read more

We originally stopped in at Hanks at the end of Covid and we were not impressed. For our wedding anniversary we have reservations at a different restaurant in Ottawa but decided to give Hanks again. We had a great time. The hosts that greeted us were great. Our waitress was fantastic. We had great service and even better, a fantastic meal. My wife's prime rib was perfect the way she likes it. Ribeye was sooooo good. Wonderful flavors on everything. As we left they presented us with a chilled bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Norma was our waitress on October 4, 2023 and her service was spectacular! My dad recently passed away and he used to love taking us to Hank's. We were paying homage to dad who used to love getting the jumbo shrimp, salad bar and Bud Light of course. We do miss him taking us here and we will continue to go here. I got the broiled salmon with a side of whipped mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. I also love their house sparkling wine because they service a fresh orange wedge on the rim. It actually changes the taste with the citrus fragrance and feels a bit elegant. My brother and I also order the mozzarella sticks with a side of marinara or ranch every time we are here. We are sad to learn that the cute little Curious Goods store is closing at the end of this month. It's is such a delightful little store packed with Halloween costumes and we will miss it. If you want a nice meal with great servers come to Hank's. They also have a Sunday bottomless brunch that our server says is to die for. read more

When it came, six French fries and two pieces of fish that I thought was cod...not sure what it was...heavily breaded which fell off the fish revealing mostly bread. After a day of hiking at starved rock Park, we found this gem by searching local restaurants. This supper club was pretty busy on this September Saturday, but this restaurant is quite large in size, with ample seating. Very clean and an appealing and cozy aesthetic. My boyfriend and I both ordered hamburgers, mine being the BBQ and his being a cheeseburger. The hamburger was satisfactory and filling. But the highlight for me was the salad bar! I am a sucker for a good salad bar and let me tell you this one was fabulous!!! Supper clubs are where it's at! Will be going back next summer when we revisit the nearby starve rock. The place has real good home cooking with a lot of great Italian dishes. The servers was very kind and helpful. Cozy barn like with a great looking bar. Nice place to take the family. Today was our first visit to Hank's Farm - and hopefully not the last. Hank's embodies all of the best of traditional dining: home made dishes, pleasant service and more than enough to feed a small army.... The Mardi Gras brunch was a great introduction: buffet style brunch specialties with an ample salad bar, turkey, fried chicken, roast pork, crawfish, oysters, salmon and the breakfast standards. The dessert table was amazing with multiple pies, bread pudding, coffee cakes (some really good ones!) and other sweets. Ambience was early 60's farmhouse with Mardi Gras decorations. My family and I frequent Ottawa often and always pass Hank's and always say we want to stop here and eat. We finally decided to take the 45 min drive just to eat dinner here. The grounds and building are so charming and continues into the inside of the building as well. The interior of Hank's is homey and comforting, they have a small gift shop in the area where you check in that kind of reminds me of Cracker Barrel. One thing I immediately noticed about Hank's is that the staff is on top of their game and friendly. Our waiter, Chris was phenomenal and super funny. Other staff members would come around and take plates/glasses. You can tell everyone works together here to keep the ball rolling. They have an impressive salad bar as well which comes with every entree! I haven't been to a restaurant that offers a salad bar in years, so this was a nice touch. My party ordered a few drinks (maple old fashions and I tried the mixed berry mule) and the brussel sprout appetizer which was great. I loved the sweet chili sauce and Parmesan slices on top. For entrees we ordered the ribeye which was cooked perfectly to my desired doneness with a side of onions (more like a mountain of onions). We also ordered the chicken vesuvio which fell off the bone, and the oink and peep - the ribs and chicken were awesome, but we weren't crazy about the spaghetti side (we are picky because we're Italian lol) Hank's does not skimp on portions or sides, I couldn't believe how much garlic bread they gave us. I could come and just eat the soup and salad. I've dinned here a few times, the staff remembered my name. That made me feel very welcomed and appreciated as a customer. I was so looking forward to eating at this restaurant as everyone I know raves about it. My husband is a huge breakfast person, so we went for the Sunday brunch. The host was grumpy, threw the silverware on the table and walked away. The waitress was very friendly, chatty and attentive. However, the brunch buffet was subpar. The food was barely warm, and the bread items were stale. Food taste was just okay, but absolutely nothing to make us want to come back. I tried some breakfast items along with the turkey and dressing, but it was nothing special. My husband did not like the biscuits and grave, so we will not be returning. Unless you want a lot of food for the money ($25 for the buffet), it was not worth the cost of the food as it was not very flavorful. They do have a cute little gift shop, but nothing that would entice me to come back. read more

5 Stars here. Buffets can be tricky but Hank's is a rural farm buffet that provides a very nice country style selection. The younger me could eat my money back at a buffet. We went on a Sunday for the Brunch (I highly recommend a reservation) there was plenty of parking however some of it was a pretty good walk to the door however there were several handicap accessible spots. When we were seated I noticed the tables were nicely spaced apart which is good when you are trying to get to and from the buffet line or if you were to need wheelchair or walker accessibility. On this day they offered a very nice mimosa flight and Bloody Mary drink options. We enjoyed the mimosas but didn't try the bloody mary. The food was outstanding, there was a variety of salads and hot options both of the breakfast and the lunch type foods. The desserts were so plentiful they have their own buffet line. There were choices of all types, chocolate, cream, fruit, & nuts way to many to mention. The server was very nice however appeared to be stretched pretty thin as some at our table's drinks were not refilled and were not offered one until we were preparing to leave, we had several dirty plates that sat on the table most of the time we were there. The restaurant setting is beautiful and very country with all sorts of birds walking around the property. This place is awesome from the fact that the building is an old dairy barn to the food and service. Our server was peppy, very sociable, and nice. I had the maple old fashioned to drink, and I have to say, I could go for one of those regularly if I lived closer. Don't miss the flash fried Brussel sprout appetizer. They were amazing. I got a to go order of fettuccini Alfredo and it was bland. I had to add salt and garlic powder at my house and it still was just ok. My hubby got a medium burger. It was a well done hockey puck. Everything was WAY overpriced. It cost $50 for two meals that were kinda gross. This is not the first time. I'm all about giving second chances, but third and fourth chances. Shame on me. This restaurant represents comfort food and home for my family. My grandparents would take us here every week, without fail. This was their favorite place to eat in town. My grandfather would drive us here at top speeds of 15 miles an hour. I think it was only about 5 miles away from my grandparents, but it always seem like it took us a half hour to get here. Just had to go with the flow. My grandfather always had to order the prime rib beef. My grandmother would always get their big kind, believing that it was healthier. My mother always got the chicken Parmesan, my brother would get the chicken piccata and I would always get the penne pasta. This place was the place to go to every time we visited my grandparents every few months. My aunt and uncle still go there to this day. We still go there for some comfort food and all the wonderful memories we used to have with my grandparents. The food was always just above average, not great, but not bad. But the memories this place holds are unforgettable and priceless. This place is home for my grandparents and they always enjoyed eating here regularly. read more

Wanted to write a great review, as we have eaten there many times for dinner and Sunday brunch. This was the first time for Easter. Service wonderful, our table was ready when we got there, the waitress came to our table for the drink order immediately. Although it was crowded, there was room enough to not feel cramped. The peacocks spread their wings for us, beautiful. The buffet offered at least five entrees with sides, salad, and soup. A large dessert table, many offerings for the kiddos. The part that disappointed us, maybe due to the large group of people there. The majority of the food was warm not hot, entrees had little or no seasoning, The beet salad and coleslaw had a heavy vinegar taste. The cold foods were cold so that's good. The cost was posted, but due to the lack of seasoning $32.00 seemed too expensive. I like to decide the amount for my tip, but was not able to, it came on the bill. We paid but wanted to decide what it would be. I think in trying to appeal to so many people and taste, the usual quality provided lowered. read more

Brought my Inlaws to check it out. Mostly because of the reviews on a great salad bar. Also because of the selection of menu items. The shop next door intrigued me as well. The food: I ordered chicken breast oscar. I didn't like it. It was greasy and minimal canned crabmeat with powdered bearnaise mix. The risotto I chose as my side was tasty. I should have chose the fried chicken special. My husband and mother in law got filet. Average at best...my husband's was overcooked. My father in law got a pork tenderloin sandwich. It was huge. He said it was good. The salad bar was pretty good. The bread was fresh. We ordered Brussels sprouts as an appetizer but never got it. The server was nice otherwise. Had dinner there on Saturday and not really impressed. Service was excellent-- Kimberly was terrific. But the food is just pretty average (actually below average), the presentation of the mozzarella starter was really bad (literally plastic containers for the bolognese sauce), it tasted okay but not great, the Gorgonzola steak wasn't bad either but the sauce was so soupy and diluted, it wasn't great. The cheesecake had perfect consistency but absolutely zero taste. And don't get me started on the salad bad.. But again, service was top notch. 5/5 for Kimberley but 1/5 for the food itself -- hence the 3/6 read more
