I and my husband do carryout often. The food is always fresh! I usually order the club or cod sandwich. My husband likes the fried chix and spaghetti always good. Never had a bad meal yet. 5 stars for both the food and the service. We were only in the area for a few hours to visit some family and hadn't had anything to eat yet so we were starving. This place is usually one of my go to's when in the area. It was pretty quiet when we came in around 2pm, with only a handful of people there. I opted for the buffet because they had fried chicken on it and it's really good. Arizona doesn't have many options for fried chicken, especially at just a normal restaurant and never taste as good as this. I started with just a small salad with some toppings, lots of toppings to choose from. Only thing was there was no blue cheese. They have a couple choices of soup, some different types of cold salads like potato, macaroni and a couple others. Some canned fruits and cottage cheese. Some hot options were fried chicken (nice and hot, fresh and oh so yummy) Salisbury steak, and a few others I don't remember. A couple veggie options and mashed potatoes and gravy. That day I only had 2 pieces of chicken and green beans and a small salad for 12.99. My husband ordered from the menu which has lots of options. He had the chipper shoe, I think that's what it was called. He likes that and orders it almost every time. I'm pretty sure it was the new owner that was our server. He checked back often, was friendly. He even left me the pitcher of water on the table so I could just help myself. He laughed when I asked and said that was the first time he's ever been asked that. Had breakfast and beers here after work with some coworkers. I was craving steak and eggs so that's what I had and I was not disappointed. Plus, serving alcohol at 7am in a small town diner...can't complain. They have a nice selection of items on their menu from fried chicken to skillets. Place is large with plenty of parking. This isn't the most horrible restaurant in the world. But it's not the best. The breakfast is probably the only good thing you can get here. It just makes me uncomfortable going in there because of how dirty and grimy it is. The food isn't really that great but it's probably on the better end of it. Awful. We ordered 18 chicken breast, and got 4 chicken breasts, and the rest were thighs, they tried to charge us $30 for this. Smh. And now we're banned for complaining. I have pictures to prove as well. At least we got our $ back, but not without being guilt tripped about their mistake... Came to Streator for some business and tried this place on the recommendation of my client. Very pleasantly surprised. Had the buffet and it was great. The salad bar was out of this world. The regular food was hot and tasty. Kind of regular food, but I love that. The fried chicken is wet battered (Illinois valley style) and is all you can eat fur under 10 bucks. Today they had fried chicken, Salisbury steak, popcorn shrimp, rib patties, 2 soups, sausage and peppers, fried chicken, mashed potatoes&gravy, plus corn and dessert. I Get either the Country Fried Steak Dinner, The French Dip Sandwich or a Sausage & Cheese Omelet or Biscuits & Gravy.. Had a family gathering after a funeral visitation. I haven't eaten here in years, because I always got sick afterward. Thought I was safe ordering the broiled Cod, and it was way over cooked, greasy, and tasteless. The salad, and mashed potatoes with gravy, and the dinner roll were great, but my sons Texan Burger had a very hard bun, meat was dry/tasteless, and the soup was very watery, cold and bland. The only thing he enjoyed was the fries. The food stinks! People that ordered first, were served last. The first ones to order were told they were out of baked potatoes, but the last ones to order their food, got baked potatoes. Definitely will NOT be back, as both of us got sick. read more

Just left from the most disappointing meal. I've had in years.... Three buffets... 38.00 and some change. Mold in the shredded cheese, bitter and dried out broccoli... Meal offerings on hot buffet were dried out and apparently old. Baked potatoes were baked during the cold War. This is a prime example of a business owner being entirely too complacent. Horrible service from the waitress as well... Complained to the? Female manager... She took it like a trooper... She's heard this a lot apparently but yet nothing was done. Went there for the Friday seafood buffet. I called ahead to ask if there was a good variety, and if it was all fried. I was told there were a few items not fried. There was only 1 item not heavily breaded/fried and it was mushy. Watery tasteless clam chowder, pasty mashed potatoes, waterlogged, submerged canned corn, and white gravy that looked crusty on top. And we got there only 15 minutes after the buffet opened! The waitress put the bill on the table right after we came back from getting our salads and never stopped by again. I'm so sorry we wasted money here. We would have had better "seafood" if we'd gotten a "Filet-O-Fish" at Mickey D's. read more

Since I moved back to Streator in June, 2015, my sister and I regularly eat out at Chippers. I usually get the tenderloin dinner and she likes the buffet. The food and service is always excellent and the wait staff check with us often to see if we need a refill with our drinks or anything else.
