I stopped by Annie & Em's Bakeshop in search of their cinnamon donuts of which I had seen pictures. Unfortunately, they were out of those and there is no guarantee they will be available unless one orders them in advance for pickup. The ladies working here were so kind and gracious about it, explaining how to order the cinnamon donuts in advance and they freeze well if you order a large quantity, so I purchased an apple cinnamon caramel scone instead. I ate it the next day and it was very good. I appreciated that it was a scone and not too sweet. There are chunks of apple in there with a definitive cinnamon presence. The caramel is drizzled over the top. It would go well with coffee or tea, particularly chai. There are other offerings here and if you see the cinnamon donuts, do not pass them up. 3.5 stars, but I am certain that could be revised upwards if I sample more of their baked goods. read more

Gluten free heaven! This was once home to Tutta Pesca, a favorite seafood restaurant of mine. And while I'm sad they're gone, I'm overjoyed to have this great little bakery in its place. I'm not gluten free but love any and all sweets. And I have so many GF people in my life. We were all patiently awaiting their grand opening and let me tell you: it was worth the wait. I stopped in shortly before they closed to pick up a box of cookies to bring to said gluten free friends. I got a mix of the sugar cookies, chocolate chip and sea salt caramels. All are incredible and none give the slightest hint that they are made to be GF. Crazy moist (Oy, sorry if you hate that word, but they were MOIST), soft and flavorful. The sugar cookie stole the show for me but I don't think you'll find a cookie you don't like. They had so many lots of vegan options as well if that's something you're on the hunt for. Don't let their gluten-free/vegan menu deter you. I'm a convert. Gluten-free/vegan food has never really appealed to me much, because gluten-free food tastes a little "off" or sandy to me, for some reason. I'm also a fan of butter and cream, so I'd typically pick a non-vegan item. This great little bakery is the exception. Their goodies are so delicious and I *barely* noticed the sandy texture and couldn't tell they are vegan. They are just as good as non-gf or non-vegan bakeries. My favorite items on their many are their cranberry-chocolate cookies. Their banana bread, cinnamon sugar cookie and blueberry scones were good too. My least favorite is their sliced cake - it was a little dry, not sure if it's an off day or what. Will definitely be back! read more

Annie & Em's is the BEST bakery in Hoboken! I've been their for their daily pastries and ordered a custom cake, both experiences have been 10/10. My favorite pastries were the crumb cake, cinnamon roll muffin, cookies & cream brookie and the matcha scone! It's dangerous to live so close because it's all delicious. My sister in law custom ordered her gender reveal cake, coconut cake with buttercream frosting, and it was the best cake I've ever had. My entire family loved it and wish we had a bigger one since we wanted seconds! I can't wait to order more custom cakes through Annie & Em's. I came on a Friday morning and the store was very clean and cute. I have been dying to go here so I was excited. Staff was nice and I could see they use quality ingredients. I don't like things too sweet so opted for a scone. I had two other people try it too to make sure it wasn't just me. I think it was a fluke because everyone else had good reviews on Yelp and other people were coming in after me. But it was extremely dry, not cinnamon like at all, parts of it were salty. It just overall must have been a bad batch. I paid 4.80 for it. I tried even heating it up and it was just not edible. Large portion size and the nuts were a good little addition. I was so excited to see a gluten-free bakery come to town, and not because I need gf treats, but because it is just an added benefit health-wise. And Annie & Em's Bakeshop did not disappoint! First, the decadent pastries immediately capture your attention with their beautiful presentations. They also offer an amazing selection with something for everyone. At this point, I have tried several items, all of which have been terrific. The Cookies and Cream Blondie included gluten-free sandwich cookies and white chocolate chips to really get that creamy flavor across. The texture was a bit dry and crumbly around the edges of the square, but was tender and moist in the center. The Funfetti Cake had a yellow cake bottom and a topping of vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. It was fun, sweet, and absolutely delicious! Essentially, it resembled a homemade cake from a mix, but tasted so much better! The Flourless Chocolate Cake was light and airy in texture, but was super rich and decadent in flavor. The Chocolate Chip Cookie had a salty vanilla base and was packed with the ideal amount of chocolate chips. The Sugar Cookie with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting was great and not nearly as sweet as one might fret about. Lastly, while I did not try the Vegan Triple Chocolate Cookie myself, it was a crowd favorite amongst my family. Annie & Em's is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood! read more

Still a pretty new place. Super friendly workers who always have a smile on their face. The focus is on gluten free baked goods. I want to really like this place, but I dropped a star because some of their baked goods are just way too sweet for me. I have a big sweet tooth, but it's a little overwhelming for me. This bakery is run by the nicest people. They are responsive via email and answer all your questions. The baked goods are SO delicious. Everything is gluten free with many vegan options.
