I am OBSESSED with this place. The coffee is delicious, their menu is creative. The almond croissant latte and banana bread latte were incredible. Their banana bread is super moist and delicious with just the right amount of sweetness as well. We also got two sandwiches: chicken BLT and tuna sandwich. The 1/2 portion was perfect and filling for lunch. They were both so so good and a repeat. I want to try everything on the menu - I have no doubt it will be delicious. read more

Ok came here an additional two times, got the blueberry cheesecake latte- very strong latte not too sweet - which I love, but the flavors weren't really there for me. I also got the brookie which was more like a fudgey brownie with a crushed cookie topping. It was very rich and delicious, I enjoyed it for a couple days because I just could not enjoy something that rich and sweet in one sitting. Most recent visit may be my favorite! Got the mango sticky rice latte - yum! The latte itself didn't taste as strong as the blueberry cheesecake latte it was much smoother. Also got the walnut banana bread as per recommended on Yelp - and wow! That was the best banana bread I've had, perfectly moist, love the dollop of icing too it was just enough if you wanted a tad bit sweeter for your banana bread but it was just right in my humble opinion! Truly one of my favorite bakeries I have been to a in while. I ordered their pistachio latte which was great. It had a pistachio syrup at the bottom with pistachio pieces and a foam at the top. It wasn't overly sweet and a great addition to the baked goods. The chocolate pistachio croissant was amazing. It was the perfect level of sweetness and the croissant itself was perfectly cooked. The chocolate chip brownie cookie was really good. It was perfectly balanced and the brownie was not too over powering. Overall, I really recommend stopping by this place and grabbing some stuff. read more

Staying nearby -- so I had to grab some bakery from them. The chocolate croissant is to die for. Light, flaky layers and nice big chunks of dark but sweet chocolate. The regular croissants are lovely too. And though I won't break it until dinner tonight, the French bread seems to be as authentic as anything you would expect to find in France. Unfortunately, tomorrow is Christmas and they will be closed until the new year so I won't be able to try anything else. But I'm a regular visitor to Hoboken so I'll be back! read more

Otok is outstanding! My boyfriend and I came to check out their breakfast sandwiches, and we can't wait to come back to try more of their pastries. My BEC on a croissant was delicious...I typically don't care for thick cut bacon, but this was melt in your mouth goodness. I had a nice almond croissant with a lavender latte!!! Nicole at the front counter did an excellent job preparing the latte and suggesting her croissants.... I choose the almond just because it looked appealing with the almond bits!!! I sat outside and enjoyed the nice l, calm neighbors passing by and said hello to them as well! There is a bit of history behind this bakery, Frank Sinatra would get his breads here and they remain with the same selection on tap!!! I stopped into Otok Bakery the other day to pick up some baked goods and saw that they had some special Fall items in stock. I figured that it would be wise to try those while I could, so I ordered an Apple Crumble Croissant and a Pumpkin Muffin. The croissant was tender, flaky, and bursting at the seams with a lightly sweetened apple pie filling. It was then topped with crumb. I am not the hugest apple fan, but I still thought it was creative and tasty. The muffin was on the dry side and was rather dense; it seemed more like a mix of pumpkin and corn. Once I started to think of it as a corn pastry with some added pumpkin, I found the dryness more appealing. Based on my two experiences so far, I would say that Otok definitely excels in its creativity, and their croissants seem to be their top pastries. read more

Had a couple experiences with Otok this weekend. We ordered two stuffed breads on Thursday night for pick-up on Friday to take to our friends home. We had no issues - got the buffalo chicken and pepperoni and cheese. Followed the instructions they gave me to heat them up for serving and they came out great. I liked both of them. We decided to order two more breads for pick-up on Saturday around 1:45 pm to bring to a different friends house. Placed the order before 9 am. Selected the sausage and the pepperoni. When I walked into the bakery at 2 pm, I said I was picking up for Kristin. The woman said I already picked up the order... I said I sure didn't. They apparently gave my order away to a different Kristin who also ordered ahead. Of course at 2 pm they were fully sold out of those items so we showed up to our friends home empty handed and some chick named Kristin got two free breads in addition to her order. They refunded my payment and gave me a $10 gift card but I'm still a bit sour about the experience. I guess the next stuffed bread will only cost me $2 and I'll be sure to pick it up earlier in the day. Super friendly staff-five stars! I came in to try the prosciutto focaccia sandwich but it seems no one orders it so they don't have on menu anymore. I tried the chicken focaccia sandwich but unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and not edible. I really wanted to like it but it wasn't good. Disappointing as it was a $17 sandwich. You need to take Otok Bakery seriously. They know what they are doing here. I arrived on a chilly rainy Saturday just before noon and the breads have been out for a while, but other things are coming from the ovens and are being presented behind their glass case. Muffins and pastries of various sorts are coming out and tantalizing me as I watch and wait to see what else will tempt me. The final straw to break the camel's back were these chocolate brownies... So now I start placing my order after waiting fifteen minutes for all this to unfold before my eyes. I order what is akin to a ham and cheese croissant type pastry, a sfogliatella of the ricci type, and of course that chocolate brownie, which they will dust with confectioners sugar for you. That came to about $16 total and I started walking home with that ham and cheese croissant. That was so good. The first thing I noticed was the buttery flaky pastry offering a textured backdrop to the high quality ham and gruyere type cheese that is melted over the whole deal. Every quality ingredient stood out and represented itself, but the textures and flavors harmonized so very well. Your mouth will sing praises... When I got home later, I tried the brownie and sfogliatella ricce. The brownie is of high quality cacao. This is not an over the top sweet brownie. You can taste the cacao and the texture is moist, but has a consistency that reminds you of the cacao powder origins. How they achieve this balance between moist expectations of a brownie versus the dry cacao powder for dark chocolate is beyond me. You gotta try it to believe it and then that's what becomes the new gold standard for brownies for a person of a sophisticated and mature palate. Quality ingredients and preparation reveal themselves again with their sfogliatella. The quality preparation is evident in the leafy layers so much the essence of a sfogliatella or its lobster tail variant. Just like the ham and cheese croissant, the leafy layers reveal themselves, but this time in their crispy glory and amplified with the filling that caramelizes at the base of the pastry where it met the sheet pan and the heat of the oven. This too is not too sweet, in fact the opposite, and one a person of sophisticated palate can appreciate. The flaws are not covered by an overabundance of sugar. The quality ingredients and preparation speak for themselves at Otok Bakery. One of the first things one observes when traveling to Europe is how unladen pastries are with sugar, so one can taste the ingredients and preparation. Fruits become fruitier, textures become more pronounced, cremes take on new dimension and interaction, and sugars become an adornment to highlight the other ingredients instead of stealing the show. They get that here at Otok and it is why I give them a 4.3 rating. Baking is difficult and much more a science if truth be told. If you read my reviews, I do not hand out stars and Otok Bakery earned all of those with my palate. You can buy with confidence here at Otok. They are good people here. Otok is relatively new, but given time, they will offer more baked goods and we will like them. Keep up the hard work Otok. read more

It was a sad day when the legendary Dom's bakery closed it's doors, and I was sure a new set of condos were on the way. What a nice surprise to see a new bakery open in its place! Otok Bakery bakes several of Dom's best while staying true to the recipes. (panella loaves, baguettes, sfogliatelle, foccacia). There is also standard bakery fare (muffins, croissants), and they've added coffee and several seats inside and out. They are also starting a new venture into lunch specials. It is so great to see a rebirth of a great bakery, and new owners with a soft spot for yesterday, and an eye on the future. read more

New bakery in town! I came here 3-4 times in the last 2-3 weeks because their baked goods are so darn good! So far we tried the baguette, rolls, focaccia, sausage bread, banana bread, cinnamon roll, mini beignets, cookies, etc. As you can see, I tried a lot of their baked goods so far and I'm impressed that I haven't found anything I don't like. The baguette mysteriously disappeared in my house before I even had a bite. In other words, my husband and toddlers ate the entire baguette when my back was turned. If you're only looking for bread, I recommend going in the morning and the bread will still be warm. Their pastries are not ready until 10:30-11. I believe they're still in soft opening phase so the selection may change (from what I've seen, they've been increasing their selection). read more

I love fresh bread and a good bakery. I only recently discovered Otok Bakery and wish I had walked by earlier. The breakfast, the lunch specials, and the bread in general have been great, as are the people who work here. The chicken sandwich lunch special is very good, and the meatball parm is the best in Hoboken. It's that good. I hope Otok becomes a long time staple in Hoboken like Dom's was. Cheese bread is great. Coffee is great. The egg and cheese was literally the worst I've ever had.

I was saddened when I learned that Dom was hanging up his mitts, as I got about 25% of my caloric intake from his shop. It seemed a petty concern when I learned of his passing. I consider myself an expert on Hoboken breadmakers, and although Chocopain makes a great baguette, nothing compares to the full Dom's lineup of coal-baked baguettes, boules, focaccia, and the customer experience. So I came to Otok prepared to be underwhelmed. But Otok has really delivered. The breads are nearly indistinguishable from what Dom offered (aside from a slight shrinkflation). I haven't yet seen the round focaccia available (essentially cheeseless personal pizzas) but the rest of the lineup is there. The square focaccias seem to use a thinner tomato paste than in the past. My mouth is watering just typing about this. Otok has always had 2 people working the counter and the place looks clean, hopefully they have addressed the mouse problem. One great thing about Dom's is the door was open at 5AM or whenever, and if you came at 8, the loaves were cool enough to slice. Otok isnt there yet but it is hands down the top bakery in Hoboken. Skip the Cake Boss ffs and try the OG Hoboken bread that kept Sinatra coming back. read more
