This is a no-brainer pitstop for a hot meal. My crew came by for a late breakfast on the way home from a camping trip and are happy to report how awesome this restaurant is. Swung by at 6:30 on a Saturday morning on the way to a long weekend hike. Welcomed as soon as we came in! Hot coffee and cold water. Specials sounded delicious but we stuck with tried and true. Was skeptical to go in as doesn't look like much on the outside but my husband and I decided to try it anyway as we were on a time crunch. Food was very good especially the hashbrowns! We were up for a college visit and found this gem of a breakfast place. From the menu I had the omelette with spinach, feta and hollandaise sauce and it was excellent! Annie's Overflow is a local favorite for several of my coworkers who enjoy stopping here for breakfast when they are out on the road. They have recommended this place to me if I'm ever driving through the area. The Overflow is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, conveniently located off I-93 Exit 25. The place is on the right side of the road heading into Plymouth, across from the future ice rink. On the way up north, a coworker and I stopped here for breakfast. The tight parking lot was almost full on a typical weekday. The place was quite busy. We were greeted as we entered and we could sit anywhere we'd like. There's counter seating and table/booth seating with two dining rooms. We were offered hot coffee ($1.49) served in "Meredith Savings Bank" mugs, ice water, and given menus as we took a seat in a booth. The menu offers the typical breakfast fare and lunch items (hot & cold sandwiches, salads, soups, chicken tenders, fried haddock, & sides). The waitress also went over the specials including banana French toast, country fried steak & eggs, and quiche. The prices are pretty fair, most items under $8 or less. We both decided on some specials ($6.99 each). I had the country fried steak with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, home fries, and buttered raisin toast. The semi thick breaded country fried steak had a chewy texture inside. The sausage gravy covering the steak was very rich. The grilled home fries were pretty good. My coworker enjoyed the banana French toast with a side of juicy bacon. Overall, I would've given the food 3 stars, but the service was very friendly and attentive, deserving of an extra star. The waitress walked around checking up on us and carrying a pot of coffee offering refills/top-offs several times. The check came to just over $18 before tip. As we were finishing up, some workers from our company (different office) stopped in for breakfast. We got going since we had a long day out on the road ahead of us. read more

Beware if you are not a townie don't go here. Older ponytailed waitress attitude switched when my sister asked for just onions in her omelet. Waitress insisted 2 times adding ham and peppers, when we corrected her twice she turned into Kathy Bates. Reheated frozen food is not our idea of eating out for breakfast. Sausage links =frozen brown and serve, hash browns = frozen tator tots. I couldn't eat the frozen tots so I asked for real hash browns. Kathy Bates yelling stating frozen tator tots were hash browns, tried to verbally abused us into eating reheated frozen tator tots. They did bring out reheated frozen shredded potatoes but they deliberately overloaded it with salt. Manager and Kathy Bates reactions were very irrational reactions. Gave Kathy Bates a 100. Bill and asked for some ones so I could leave minimum tip, Kathy Bates thought she was being smart one by handing me back 66 one dollars bills. I gave her back pile of money making her count back all the money, she looked a fool in front of everyone after counting back 66 ones, then said you asked for ones, I said not 66 of them! She put on show several times for the townies but she only embarrassed herself. I tipped younger waitress but refused to tip Kathy Bates on steroids. I waitressed on and off over the years, and always left 20% even for bad service and average food., Kathy got no tip for her angry erratic behaviors. We were in search of breakfast after the first few places we tried along the highway had significant waits - we were so desperate we almost stopped at Burger King! We were driving around looking for a place to have breakfast and we came across Annie's Overflow. The parking lot was full but there was no line out the door, so we gave it a try. We were seated almost right away after being greeted when I came in the door. Our table wasn't yet cleared but it was within a few minutes of us sitting down. Three staff all stopped by to either clean the table, take our initial drink order, or greet us, as Diane did. She was super friendly and took really good care of us. The coffee was better than I expected and those drinks came quickly. A couple minutes later we ordered our food and it arrived not more than 10 minutes later. I had the Overflow Breakfast Special and my friend had Tall Stack and a side of Sausage. The food was well prepared great scrambled eggs. very tasty Cinnamon Raisin Bread, a bit too well-cooked bacon (dry and hard), ham, and sausage were well prepare. There were a lot of cooked potatoes, but they were not that great. The pancakes were deemed "okay", there were thick and light but slightly overdone. The sausage was spicy and flavorful. Cleaned the place up a lot since being in there last. Very nice wait staff who all split up the work load waiting on different tables. Very bubbly people so be ready. Place gets busy after 10 or 11 but the line usually moves quickly because of all the tables. Been going here with my mom once a month for a few years and it has progressively gotten worse, wait staff are good but food leaves alot to be desired last month got breakfast and pancakes were very dry and just about burnt, eggs were mediocre at best,and sausage patties were way over cooked. Went today got lunch a Bacon cheese burger, ordered medium got well done with over cooked bacon and you could about taste the freezer burn from the dry as hell premade frozen burger. read more

If you find yourself in the foothills of the White Mountains (visiting someone at Holderness or Plymouth State? Climbing at Rumney? Need to eat on the way to Whale's Tail?) you must have a meal here. It's right off exit 25 on I-93, a little hard to see from the road, next door to a white chamber of commerce information house. It's about 100 miles north of Boston, maybe 50 miles north of Concord. The food is good, wholesome and reliable, like diner food should be. I've only been for breakfast, it always seems busy but it's large so waits are short. The menu is standard diner, and they do have specials. I want to start by saying the menu is not gourmet or nouveau diner, or anything fancy, but it is plentiful as diner food should be. The orange juice is from a carton but it's good and comes in a huge cup, maybe 16 oz, where would you ever get that much OJ in Boston? And I suspect some of the fruits and veggies are from a can (fruit salad, mushroooms?) but the essentials are there (real maple syrup!) and the food is very well cooked. The eggs are exactly the way you ordered them, the toast is never burned, the coffee is fresh and hot and they keep coming and coming to refill you (that must be why the name). I love the authenticity of the place somehow it's such an antidote to all the chains and crummy places you run into in so many rural areas. It's clean and efficient. They use mugs that probably are picked up from yard sales, I've got the Meredith bank mugs, I also got a mug from I think Yosemite National Park once. You get the feeling the place is owned by a human, not a private equity firm. The reason it gets five stars from me is the service. I always think of people in New Hampshire as reserved, even crusty, but not here, it's friendly as you can imagine. You get a nod and a greeting when you come in, even though there's no hostess someone always makes eye contact, and someone always calls goodbye to you when you leave. Once I saw them make a mistake on a check in the customer's favor and when the customer offered to pay his fair share they wouldn't let him--they took the loss. I actually saw a waitress hug hello to one of her regulars once. The waitresses look out for each other and don't seem to mind bringing water and crayons to each other's tables when the crunch is on so things move quickly. You feel like there's a team there and they actually take pride in giving you a good meal experience. I can't remember the last time I felt that way at a restaurant. read more
