I had the Beef Penang Curry and it was pretty good but the portion was pretty small and ended up being $12 with tip (I had water to drink). I will say that the waitress was extremely nice and checked on me several times during my lunch, so nothing bad to say there. I have to mention that like another one of the reviewers I got sick later that evening with some pretty bad cramping, nausea and diarrhea, I can't say for sure it was related, but it definitely felt like a food related issue. Small dive where Sechuan used to be located. There are 3 plates always ready to be served. My fave of the three is the panyang curry chicken. Forgive me if I spelled that incorrectly. I really wanna give it 5 stars because the waiter was so kind and helpful and even Ann came out to talk to us, I really just loved them so much from the start and the atmosphere (+very well kept)! But, the food...it was good! I just felt that the portion was small and a bit pricey. We got the panang chicken curry and the fried wings. Both yummy but I have to say I have had better in Abilene:(. Two words: Panang Curry. Ann's is the best Thai food in town hands down. There is another place named Bangkok Thai, but it does not stack up well against Ann's. Ann's uses better ingredients for a better final product. Ann's panang curry is very good, and I do not make that statement lightly. There is nowhere in Abilene to get Indian food, but the panang here really scratches the itch. To be able to get a dish like this in Abilene, Texas, is a miracle. read more

We'll usually go here for their lunch specials. They have a couple of curry choices and my husband likes their pad thai. Their wait staff is usually on top of the drinks and for lunch while they are usually pretty crowded, but don't make you wait very long. Not having any Indian restaurants in town I usually get my fill here. read more

Anne's Thai Kitchen is elegant on the inside... the atmosphere is perfect for an evening meal with friends or that special someone. Their panang is excellent... very flavorful and spicy! I love it hot. I find that the milder you get Thai food the less flavorful it gets... so don't be afraid to spice it up! I've had the appetizers there and they are wonderful. The wait staff is timely and professional. For Abilene it is hands on the best Thai food w/ atmosphere! The only problem is it is a little pricey... but for the atmosphere it is worth it. Anne's Thai Kitchen is not the only Thai restaurant I've been to... I've been to upscale Thai eateries as well as holes-in-the wall. read more

As a Thai person, I do enjoy that this restaurant is completely authentic. The customer service is great, the staff is friendly. I have a few favorite Thai dishes that I've grown to favor more than other dishes as I've grown up with this type of food. My husband and I visited Ann's for the first time on Jan 19th. He ordered the beef noodle soup and I ordered a stir fried noodle dish called Pad See Ewe. My husband liked his choice but we do prefer the Vietnamese style vs the Thai style when it comes to noodle soup. I liked mine but it could have been better. Since we're hours away from where I grew up, I'm constantly on the prowl for a restaurant that serves Asian food similar to the flavored I've grown up with. I do prefer Ann's over all the other Thai restaurants here in Abilene. I didn't give Ann's all 5 stars because I wasn't totally satisfied with the taste of my dish. It was missing a few key ingredients but overall, this was a very pleasant visit and we will return to try other dishes. read more

It pains me a little to leave a one-star review for this place. Ann Thai Kitchen was the first place I ever experienced Thai food, back when it was still a little hole in the wall on Treadaway with that giant cheesy photo-mural of Thailand inside. I loved it, and was a frequent customer. I no longer live in Abilene, but recently I've been visiting frequently and I thought I would strike up a relationship with Ann Thai Kitchen again. Unfortunately, now that I've had the opportunity to sample many other varieties of Thai food, I have to say that the new Ann Thai Kitchen can't compete with most of the good places in taste, price or any other aspect. In all of the tofu dishes I've tried, the tofu tastes like butter and not much else. I know butter is supposed to make anything taste good, but come on. Thai food is supposed to be spicy and flavorful. I also agree with another reviewer that all the rules they have posted on the front door and in the front of the menu are just bizarre. No modifications on anything, no exceptions, even when you're the only table in the restaurant? A $5 fee if every single person at the table doesn't order their own entree? I mean, a small sharing fee isn't that uncommon at restaurants, but $5 if you'd rather just have an appetizer? Which brings me to my next point: even if you wanted to share an entree, it would be nearly impossible. All the plates are about $3 more expensive than they used to be, but they seem smaller to me (at least they're definitely not any bigger). I'm pretty small. I can't put away a lot of food at a time, so when I'm going to pay $10 or more for a meal I usually expect to get another meal out of it, at least at any respectable Asian restaurant. The last time my boyfriend and I went there, after paying our $22 check for two bland, tiny entrees and two glasses of water, we walked out feeling slightly insulted. All this would still probably put Ann Thai Kitchen at a solid two stars, if for nothing other than nostalgia for the old place. However, after the aforementioned last time I went there (and I do mean last), I got FOOD POISONING. Bad. That's right, Ann Thai Kitchen, you literally made me puke. I know it was you, because you also made my boyfriend puke. A LOT. Which made for a really fun drive back to Austin, and caused us both to miss work the next day. Never again. read more

Ann's has great red curry, pad Thai and garlic pork. The spring rolls are perfectly crispy. Yes, there are a lot of strange rules on the menu, but the service is friendly and we usually get it to go anyway. They have affordable curry lunch specials too! read more

as a conosoiur of thai restaurants in California, this place in no way measured up to my expectations. the thai fried rice was just beef and rice drenched in soy sauce. the pad thai was made up of all broken noodles and very little sauce -- hardly any peanut flavor to it! the yellow curry was acceptable. i'm guessing that this is run by a nice thai family that is bringing some "cultural" experiences to us but not really making true restaruant quality food. good luck to them! read more

This used to be a real gem however something has changed drastically and it's not for the better. Without carefully reading the menu, based upon positive past experiences, I ordered an app and 2 entree's, 1 of them to go. The app was spring rolls and they were average and arrived timely enough, however... My 1st entree, the panang tofu, was terrible! The tofu was raw and so old that it tasted sour, the sauce was watery and like no panang I've ever had, further more it included no vegetables at all. When I inquired I was informed I could add them for a $1 more...lol. Being unable to stomach my 1st entree I asked the wait staff if I could have the 2nd entree and box the panang. The server dropped off a box and my 2nd entree, which was a thai chicken fried rice, and strike 2, yuck! It was the darkest fried rice I've ever seen and tasted like medicine, absolutely inedible again. Feeling quite discouraged I got up and quietly asked the waitstaff if there was anything I could do about the meal. After the owner/manager? came out he quite rudely informed me that it was my problem and that a discount would not be made, I was dumbfounded. Honestly I think I've sent food back probably 3 or 4 times in my entire 48 years of eating out and have never been treated like this. I had to rush out to work and didn't have time to (I assume) wait for the police to dispute my bill so in the end I feel I was robbed for $30 and received no compensation. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. It was the worst dining experience of my entire life. read more

I went here for the first time today and will NEVER go back again. I ordered about 40$ Worth of food from this place: Two orders of pad Thai, spring rolls, and wings. There was absolutely no flavor to anything we tried! There was no seasoning on the pad Thai, absolutely no spice, there was zero color to the dish. To top it off the food was stone cold! I went back to the restaurant asking to speak with a manager and was told that they don't do refunds!!! Even though I had brought back all of the food with less than a bite missing from each dish he said no refund. He then proceeded to tell me that Thai food isn't for everyone and that not everyone will like it. I proceeded to tell him that Thai food was not the problem, as I eat Thai food very often because it is my favorite, this food however was just plain awful! Still no refund. So just to be sure that I was not misunderstanding him I said so even though I am not pleased with your food, I am currently a unhappy customer, I am wanting you to do something to remedy the situation but you won't? He said that that was correct and that they are not a chain burger restaurant! So long story short, I am out of 40 bucks, extremely hungry and extremely pissed off at his lack of customer service and smart attitude!!! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT Unless you want pure disappointment. This place gets absolutely ZERO stars from me but I had to put at least one to submit! I will not go back to this establishment. It is a shame because the food is actually quite good. Like others have posted, I have a problem with their many rules. You are made to feel that they are doing you a big favor to be open. I have continued to go back because the food is good despite being more expensive than another competitor. However, tonight was my last visit ever. We entered the establishment at 8:10 pm. Their posted closing was 9:00 pm. Upon being seated we were told that they took no orders after 8:15 pm because they closed at 8:30 pm. When we questioned that the sign said 9:00 we were told that was for takeout only. We said no more and ordered. The waitress was friendly and apologetic for the misunderstanding. About 5 minutes after having ordered a very rude man from the kitchen told us he would only prepare food for takeout and not to dine in even though we ordered by their non-posted 8:15 deadline for orders. He was rude and acted as if he could care less when we complained. The customer definitely comes last at Ann's. read more
