I've been getting my haircut by Kevin for the last 5 years. The kindest professional-- could never think of leaving him. When he told me he was going to open Anomaly, I told him I'd go anywhere he went. The facility is clean, nice, and has a covered parking garage attached to the building. Super easy to park and walk 30 seconds to. Anomaly is modern in the sense of the interior as well as the training of the barbers. Wanted to try a high end barber to see what's up but ended up so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the barbers seem chill and boys that I can be friends with, but don't let that manipulate you into trying to see past of the actual service given, which is cutting hair. I have a range of barbers I choose to work with and I won't be adding this to my list. I'll stick to Nhien at Wondercuts, for $25 who can actually do a fade. Family man too. Not whatever this place is trying to be. I asked for a bald fade, and he just couldn't get it right. I know a barber can cut hair when they're not afraid to shave my sideburns and work up, and he didn't. It's a bald fade, not a 1-2. I was polite and just said it was okay, until I went out with my friends and they were like who cut my hair. They showed me how even more messed the back was. Like it was two tones, no gradient. A few of the barbers seem inexperienced, nothing wrong with that, but not deserving to be charging $70 for a haircut which they call "a consultative service" like maybe charge less so you can learn to perfect your craft first? On top of that, I hear the barbers talking about practicing and stuff like that at the shop, really confirming the inexperience. Everyone starts somewhere, and I appreciate the hustle but not at $70 a cut. **They seem like they're buying reviews, after I posted there is a huge influx and the owner messaged me. Thought I would try this place out and booked a scissor cut. Lots of great cuts on instagram. Nice place and nice staff. Unfortunately the scissor cut I received from Sean was not what I asked for all around. I've been growing my hair out for 9+ months and it was all around down to my ear. The barber was late for the appointment and texted me 20 minutes prior the day of to arrive 15 minutes later. I was already at the shop waiting and said it was ok that he was running behind. I said I wanted to keep my length and showed two photos of haircuts with longer hair to the earlobes and said in the long run I'm looking to get a perm but waiting till I can actually perm it since it's been colored. Wanted the back which was quite long cut a bit shorter. I thought the barber understood with the consult and showing two reference photos with long hair, unfortunately I got layers in my hair that isn't great, and about 3 inches were cut so I lost my length and my hair is now up towards the top of my ear. I was really upset and disappointed when he handed me the mirror at the end to look at the finished cut and seeing that he cut my length away!!!!! I didn't ask for my length to be gone, he apologized and said it would grow back to be better with the cut. I DIDN'T COME TO GET A SCISSOR CUT TO WAIT FOR MY HAIR TO GROW BACK TO LOOK NICER!!!!!! Now I have to wait for my hair to grow and gain length again, so I can style it how I like. Total disaster because I did not want my hair short. I wish I would have been facing the mirror when I was getting my scissor cut so I could have reiterated not to cut my length away, instead of facing away from a mirror for the entire cut. a suggestion is to allow the client to see what is happening during the cut, and cut less and go more if too long still so it can be a win for the client and stylist. You can always take a little more but you can't give back what you cut. He was also focused on a soccer game while cutting my hair, which I thought was ok until I saw my result! Paid 100 dollars including tip for a haircut I did not ask for! Would not be a returning customer unfortunately. read more
