Stopped in because the vibe was cute and we were starving for lunch. They did not disappoint! Our food was delicious and reasonably priced. My husband got the lasagna and me the spaghetti bolognese. Would recommend.

Venice was incredibly crowded when I visited in July, so finding this quieter restaurant close to Piazza San Marco was a relief. Al Chianti is on the smaller side with only a few tables inside and on the patio. However, that means you don't have to fight the crowd for food or service, which was attentive and friendly. My brother and I tried the spaghetti carbonara, which was delicious and came with chunks of smoky, fatty pork. The waiter also topped it with fresh parmesan for extra flavor. We liked that the spaghetti had plenty of cheesy and porky flavor without being super heavy.

Wowza this dish in particular was good!!!!!!! Gets busy fast, totally understand why they have some of the best rating in Venice. Perfect last day in Venice meal.. I told my bf at the table, the waiter could've spit in my face and I still would've rated this meal 5 stars.

Our lunch at Al Chianti was wonderful! The food was delicious and the owner was very helpful and gracious. If you visit, try the wild boar ham with Pecorino cheese and honey. It was unbelievably good! The bruschetta assortment was also excellent.

Thanks Yelpers for guiding me in Venice to this really nice Italian restaurant. We had a bad experience last night without any research and once again Yelp has saved us!! We came here for lunch yesterday. The place was small but the tables were spaced out nicely so not super cramped. You must try their fish bowl - fresh seafood including clams, mussels, shrimp and swordfish...and the soupy sauce was amazing! And the pizza was also very good! The location is perfect as it is close to the main tourist attraction in Venice - St. Mark's Square. So if you're planning you're trip, be sure to stop here for lunch or dinner.

Super nice. Very cozy with a relaxing atmosphere. After a long day of traveling these dishes hit the spot. The spaghetti w/ pesto had the perfect balance, spaghetti w/ carbonara was uniquely rich yet light. I would also highly suggest ordering the bruschetta as an appetizer, it really sets the tone for the meal. Update!! We couldn't leave San Marcos without coming back here on our last night. This time we knew what to expect but we loved it all the same. Possibly even more. The owner is so kind and genuine with all of his customers. The bruschetta truly almost brought tears to my eyes, mostly because it's our last night and I may never get to have this place again. The fish chowder blew us away, truly. In presentation and flavor, it was quite the showstopper. Truly perfection in the form of a restaurant. Please come here!!!

When you're hungry in one of the most tourist-soaked places in the world it can be hard to figure out what's good! We were steps from San Marco and "interviewed" a few of the restaurants in the strip. I whipped out my phone and saw that this place had many reviews and over 4 star average. I also saw a pasta come out and it looked delicious and huge, lol. SOLD!!! Where can we sit?!! My pasta I ate here has been the best pasta of this whole trip to Italy (a plate of creamy strozzapreti in Bologna gets an honorable mention, hehe). The gnocchi were delicious too. The service was prompt and warm too. One of the older waiters was singing, hehe. I may be coming back to Venice in a month or two and I will be back here. Raccomando!!! Tutto buonissimo!

    Calamari and mussels

I recommend making a reservation for dinner as they are quite busy. I absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious! I was so happy to find this place since the San Marco area is notorious for very touristy restaurants. We had the fried calamari and stewed mussels for antipasto, and then I had the sole meunière. The best sole I've ever had! The waiters were so friendly and fun. It was such a wonderful dining experience.

One of the best lattes! Great service, pizza and squid spaghetti.

Great food and service, one of the best lattes! Try the black spaghetti! Cosy little place, very recommended.

A good spot - very friendly and helpful service. Close to saint mark square - in the midst of many touristy/salesy options I'd recommend this one.

By far the best food we've had in Venice! The pasta was amazing!! Along with the service. We started with the pesto spaghetti then moved on to the Carbonara but changed the pasta from spaghetti to tagliatelle. We closed out the pasta experience with the four cheese ñoquis(not photographed)! For dessert (always a must) we had the home-made tiramisu and the chocolate panna cotta. We plan on going back for their pizza and probably more pasta!! Definitely a must-try when visiting Venice.

What better way to spend it than wandering around Venice and enjoying dinner at Rossopomodoro? They're still in the "Italy training program" and these menus tend to confuse them, so after three weeks here I felt obligated to guide them toward the promised land. After much studying, debating, and staring at menus, it was finally time to order. I went with the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, and the wife and I shared a salad. When that salad hit the table, it nearly stole the entire show. We drizzled on a little balsamic vinaigrette, added a shake of salt and pepper, and suddenly we were ready to dance right there in the alley. Fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, crisp greens--every ingredient tasted like it had been picked that morning. It was outstanding. The pasta was very good, but today the salad was the undisputed champion of the meal. Of course, dining outside along Venice's busy walkways only adds to the experience. Watching people pass by while enjoying great food is one of those simple pleasures that makes Venice such a special place. Rossopomodoro delivered a fantastic meal and a great evening. The newcomers survived their first full day in Italy, and I'd say they're off to a pretty good start.
