We love coming here when we visit Tuscaloosa! If we don't make it during our trip, it's always our last stop on the way to the airport. We ate it is the best I can say. The gravy tasted like mud. Sausage was gamey. The choc chip pancakes had 5 chips in the whole stack. Soft scrambled eggs were not soft and they forgot to add the cheese til the end. Bacon was hard to bite but at least it was cooked. I presented a coupon from the save around for free beniget biscuits and it was taken but we never got any. They have something for everyone here and I really appreciate them having a separate gluten free menu and the staff is knowledgeable on celiac disease, which can be hard to come by here! I have tried many things from the gluten free menu, and my family and friends eat off of the regular menu and we always all love our food. Gorgeous setting right along the river. We sat out on the patio and had a great view. The food was delicious but the portions were a bit small for some of the dishes. My son had the crawfish scramble and there were only a few pieces of the actual crawfish. My hubby had the biscuits & gravy with fried chicken and again the pieces of chicken were rather small. I had the beignets & fresh fruit & was very happy with the quality & quantity. The fruit bowl included delicious fresh mango & large strawberries & blackberries. My biggest complaint was just that the coffee was barely lukewarm and even after requesting a warm up, it was only warm at best. But then I like my coffee steaming hot. Best brunch around! Their mimosas are perfect. The service can be hit and miss at times though. However, when its good it's really good.

Would love to eat here but when I try the door and it is locked, 5 minutes after you are supposed to be open... it is difficult.

Came here due to my daughter's recommendation of just the chocolate milk. The chocolate milk looks delicious but actually needs more chocolate. Service was attentive but now to the meal. I got the biscuits and gravy platter. 2 eggs over easy, more like sunny side up, potatoes, and sausage. Potatoes were waaaaaaaay too salty!! Biscuit was fluffy so it was the highlight of the meal. The sausage had a weird texture and taste ....also too salty. No mystery as to why the pepper was out on our table. Took a few bites of my husband's pancakes...major disappointment. The place was nice, but the food was just average (nothing to write home about) and the wait was just too LONG! We joined the waitlist two hours before we showed up and it still took 35 minutes to seat us. Once we sat down, we were told they were out of cutlery and we had to eat with plastic forks. Honestly terrible service. Came here with two other people and ordered a plain toasted bagel with a side of avocado, and a few sides of French toast. Food came out very cold and the bagel was not toasted at all and the avocado brought out was brown and maybe 1/5 of an avocado. We asked if we got get it re-made since it was so cold and bagel not toasted at all. Our server didn't say sorry just took food back. After 25-30 minuets of waiting for a toasted bagel and a few sides of French toast. We asked the manager..our server still had not returned. He said he would check. Neither our server nor the manager apologized. They were not friendly and when our food finally did make it back to us it was still not hot and French toast was soggy and undercooked and the bagel was barely toasted. They did not bring me any other avocado. Got our check after over an hour of bad food and worse service. Paid full price. Neither asked if our food was better since they "re made it" Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this location. read more

I have been eating there since they opened and I can't remember ever having any issues. The food is very good. I usually get the supreme omelette which is great and constantly cooked perfectly. Lots of outdoor seating with great views of the river. Dogs are allowed outside too! read more

This location has improved tremendously over the years. Today when we went, our server (I think her name was Salli or Shelli?) was perfect! She kept our sodas full, communicated with us when she felt our food was taking longer why that was the case so we didn't feel forgotten about, and even surprised my dog with a little cup of whipped cream! She was lovely and offered prompt, friendly service that made this visit stand out in such a positive way. Also, the food was fantastic. Everyone should get the beignets! Order the shrimp and grits. Don't get anything else because everything will pale in comparison. It's not pescetarian-friendly as there were unexpectedly large chunks of delicious sausage links. The sauce that the grits are slathered in is delicious and guilt-inducing. The omelet was very average. For a place called "Egg Cafe", I was hoping the egg portion would be at least above average. It tasted plain. I've had better elsewhere. For as many ingredients that they put in here, I couldn't taste much. The view is gorgeous. Every side of the restaurant looks fabulous. It's probably the restaurant with the nicest view I've seen in Tuscaloosa so far overlooking the river. I'm jealous of all the people who live here and have this cafe to go to downstairs. read more

We were in town for a wedding. The walls of the hotel were closing in on us. We were getting a little tired of making nice conversation with second cousins twice removed and that weird, goggle-eyed friend of the groom whose social skills were a notch or two below an electrical engineer with Aspergers. So a select few of us quietly tunneled out for brunch, and Another Broken Egg was where we landed. First thing's first. Even though it was an off-week for Alabama's football team, we knew that Saturday brunch would be crowded. So we called ahead. That doesn't give you a reservation, but it puts you to the top of the list. When the eleven of us pulled up, there were hordes of people sitting around waiting for their table to be ready. So, for the sake of all that's holy, call ahead. Especially if you have a larger group. On to the grub. The Bloody Mary was awfully good. We're not talking Zing Zang with a garnish, but some kind of homemade recipe that's pretty feisty. As in spicy. It's got a wang to it, but it's really good stuff. I recommend it highly. Second the food was delicious. It was not epoch-shattering breakfast fare, but well-made nonetheless. Service was prompt, cheerful, and unfazed about splitting a check for 11 diners among four ways. Delicious food. Interesting choices. We didn't try any cocktails on this visit, but they look cool. I want to go back and try some. The coffee was good (I often have to take one star away from breakfast spots that serve mediocre coffee). I especially love the location of this Another Broken Egg. It's right on the river walk, which is beautifully landscaped, shady (in most places), and kid/pet friendly. The outdoor seating has a view of the river. Ok I am a rather tough food critic. 1. The bloody Mary's were too spicy 2. The food was par. Nothing fancy or daring, just par. 3. I don't get the mason jar thing. 4. Those ARE NOT Beignets. Beignets are fluffy and warm and melt in your mouth. Thanks for the powdered sugar dumpling though. This is my 3rd review in Tuscaloosa. Our breakfast the other day was just ok. My wife and I each ordered omelettes which were fine but nothing special. Not a lot of flavor and not filled with ingredients like I would prefer, I think mine had one leaf of spinach only. The breakfast potatoes were not warm and were chewy in texture, not enjoyable. The service was great, very polite and attentive, clean and comfortable inside. And the view is amazing right along the river! Our waitress Maggie was super sweet and accommodating. We asked the hostess to be seated outside and she said there wasn't any available tables. Granted I've been in the business and I get some tables are unavailable due to staff issues or tables being outside of sections. Once we asked our waitress if she would take us outside (to the table directly on the other side of the glass) she said yes, let me check with the host. Our waitress came back and took us as far away from the river view as possible. The host then sat the table we asked for directly after being moved away from everything.
