Oh, Marty. Where to begin. My friends and I were in Mammoth for the weekend, genuinely excited to support local businesses, when we made the unfortunate decision to step into his T-shirt shop. What we expected was charm. What we received was a masterclass in performative disdain. At 31 years old, I picked up a $5 teacup not to "run with," as was dramatically alleged from behind the register throne but because I was delighted by how adorable it was. Apparently, visible joy is prohibited. Marty barked at me to put it down, as though I were mid-heist rather than mid-smile. It was fascinating, really. You don't often encounter a business model rooted so firmly in hostility. The energy shifted instantly. Items we had every intention of purchasing were calmly returned to their shelves. As we walked out, someone reasonably observed, "You'd think you'd be grateful for customers supporting your local business." Marty's response? "I'm not grateful for customers." And there it was. Radical honesty. Needless to say, we along with several other shoppers exited in unison. If you're visiting Mammoth and enjoy being scolded by a crochety man for experiencing happiness near a teacup, this may be your spot. Otherwise, I'd recommend investing your money somewhere that understands the revolutionary concept of customer service. To be continued... Marty had a golden opportunity to respond with a shred of accountability. Instead, he chose fiction. I would never throw merchandise, nor was I disrespectful at any point. The second he barked at me to put down the $5 teacup, I calmly did so and promptly returned every other item I intended to purchase. I have no interest in funding hostility masquerading as "local charm." We left immediately and happily spent our money at the adorable bookstore next door where customer service still exists and dollars are welcomed. For the record, I fully intended to buy the items in my hands before his unnecessary outburst. Small businesses deserve support. Small egos with big tempers do not. I'd strongly suggest shopping elsewhere. Frankly, a 2.6 rating feels generous given our collective experience with this chronically irritable man. read more

I truly wish I could do zero or negative stars. I generally don't go out of my way to post something negative, but this was just such a terrible experience and I want to warn others with families to avoid this shop. The owner was so rude to my kids, who were literally just walking at my side. Not ruining the isles, not hiding in tshirt racks, but at my side. My son was looking at shirt designs, so naturally you touch shirts to move to the next one, and the owner got so upset and told him to stop touching stuff. My daughter got in trouble with him for bringing me a shirt off the rack she wanted to ask about. I decided to just leave because of my kids can't even look for the shirts they want, it's just not going to work for us. Not family friendly at all! read more

1 Star (and even that feels generous) My family and I had one of the most uncomfortable and disrespectful experiences I've ever had in a retail store in Mammoth. The moment we walked into this t-shirt shop, we were not greeted -- not even a basic "hello." Instead, we were immediately stared at by someone who appeared to be the owner. The atmosphere was cold, judgmental, and honestly hostile from the start. We are a family of four -- my wife and our two young boys. As we entered, my younger son picked up a small box that looked like a puzzle or toy item. Before we even had a chance to browse or look around, the owner sharply said something along the lines of: "Can you have your son put that back if you're not going to buy?" Let that sink in: a child holds an item for a moment, and he immediately assumes we are there to steal or damage something. No courtesy. No patience. No professionalism. Just pure accusation and disrespect. But what made it worse was that he didn't stop there -- he proceeded to make a comment about our parenting. That was beyond inappropriate. Nobody goes on vacation to Mammoth to get insulted by a grown man behind a counter who clearly has no business interacting with people, let alone families. I could have confronted him right there, but I chose not to waste my energy. Some people are simply miserable and mentally twisted, and it shows in how they treat others -- especially how they view children. The way he looked at my son and spoke to us was disturbing, rude, and completely unacceptable. The truth is: people like this should not own businesses. If you can't treat customers with basic human decency, especially families with kids, then you don't deserve customers -- period. Even one star is a waste. This shop deserves to lose business until the owner learns a hard lesson: when you treat customers like garbage, your business will be ruined. Save yourself the frustration. I've been coming in here annually for over 25 years. I stopped in last week and found yet "another t-shirt" that I liked. He has a nice selection of shirts. 95% of the time, the owner, Marty, is working. I've learn this week that he just had his 40th anniversary with his store. That's amazing. I know Marty has a nickname of "grumpy guy", but I've been in the store when there are challenging customers inside so I have sympathy with dealing with the public for so long. I always smile and chat with him when I visit and he usually responds in kind. read more

My wife and I had a great experience at the store. The prices blow everyone else's out of the water along with a great selection of designs. This one of the only three locations in town to get the coveted Skiing Wooly Mammoth Logo apparel in Mammoth. We stopped and chatted with the owner for 10 minutes after our transaction. He has been a staple in the Mammoth community for over 40 years and is very knowledgeable about all things mammoth. From reading other reviews, maybe let your little kids peruse the bookstore next door with a loved one while you treasure hunt for some great deals on mammoth apparel next door. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Another T-Shirt Shop! Marty, the owner, greeted us and shared with us the great sales they were currently having. My boyfriend, his friend, and I went in and were really impressed with the big inventory he had, especially the very competitive pricing! We left with three high quality jackets that were only priced at $20 each, what a steal! We took our time in the store and browsed everything thoroughly. There's a spacious changing room area in the back. Marty shared with us that he's been a business owner of over 40 years in Mammoth, and that he's originally from Los Angeles, and that he grew up in a similar area where we currently live! I wish I could leave negative stars. I don't usually write reviews, but this place earned it and not in a good way. I walked in looking to buy some cute little gifts for my girlfriend and her family. While checking out the small plush keychains, I texted a couple quick photos to my girlfriend, like any normal person who wants to get the right thing for a loved one would do. That's when the old guy running the store decided to come at me in front of other customers, scolding me for "sending too many photos" and telling me to "just pick one already." I calmly explained that I was about to buy the mammoth keychain and was simply making sure which bear her mom would prefer. The owner then scoffed and said, "They're just different colors" and that "She needs to get the vision." Excuse me? Since when does color not matter when you're buying a gift for someone else? The guy acted like I was conducting a photo shoot instead of taking 2 seconds to be considerate. This wasn't customer service, this was a masterclass in being a geriatric jackass with a superiority complex. Honestly, I've never experienced such a bizarre mix of disdain, impatience, and straight-up rudeness from someone who supposedly wants to sell things. This shop is a cute little graveyard of potential sales being choked out by a bitter old guy who clearly hates people and probably life itself. Avoid this shop unless you're in the market for overpriced trinkets and unwarranted verbal abuse. Avoid this place at all costs. A lot of the one stars on here same to be for similar reasons. I'm a frequent visitor to the area and to the store and has never had a problem. However, my last visit was far from friendly. As some of the other comments say, my family and I went in and were monitoring our kids closely when the cashier, who I assume is the owner, started giving my kids an earful for checking the price on a mug we were going to buy him. Needless to say we put everything back and won't be shopping here anymore. It's a shame to see how a bad attitude can tarnish a place like this. read more

Before even finishing this review, I see another from just days before (see Jan. 17) that basically mirrors the "cold, judgmental, and hostile experience" I had at this store from nearly the moment I entered. I had been out with my crying two year old, so we entered this store for what was hopefully a fun distraction. I put him down momentarily (as I am 6 months pregnant and needed just a quick respite), and the second I did, a skulking older man came over and said "I don't want him to get tears on anything" basically asking us to leave. Get tears on anything? I understand a crying toddler isn't ideal for anyone, but we were also the absolute only people in the store in the middle of the day. The store was dark, unfriendly, and I would absolutely not suggest supporting a place that essentially asks you to leave for what amounted to about 15 seconds of crying. If I could give negative stars, I would. I went to the store before even reading the reviews here and it confirmed the experience my family and I just experienced. My 7yo son, who I was monitoring and making sure he wasn't goofing around was gently looking at the keychains.... Enter in the grouchy owner who just starts rudely (as if telling a wild teenager) telling my son not to touch things. I told him I am here to supervise and he said he did not want him to touch the items. In my head, I was thinking why sell this stuff then?! All my son did was pick up a keychain, and looked at the back of it and placed it back. And this owner just has this angry glare at me the whole time. What a horrible experience! I am never ever coming back here again. If you see the owner, buyer beware and protect your child from his anger/frustration. read more

This is the coolest store in Mammoth for a great souvenir. The name of the store says it all lol. When you go inside, they have a HUGE selection of reasonably priced souvenirs to choose from - shirts, magnets, mugs, etc. The running the store is pretty cool too! Super friendly. Location is pretty great - it's close to a lot of other stores like Safeway, Starbucks, and other restaurants. I definitely think it's worth stopping by if you want to grab a shirt or something for your visit to mammoth. read more

The owner was super nice, not only to my toddlers (of mixed race), but also to all of the people who checked out before us. We were in the store for some time and everyone was greeted with a smile and thanked for coming in. Prior to coming, I had read the reviews and was expecting something different. That was not the case, he offered to give each of our sons a separate bags for their toys, as he knew sometimes children like to carry their own stuffed animals. There's a great variety of merchandise for all ages and the store was very well stocked. I would highly recommend shopping at this establishment. Racist son of a hitch who doesn't like kids. Went in there to buy t shirts and sweat shirts for our kids. We were going to buy at least a few sweet shirts. Had already picked two. The guy behind the front desk came and asked if my son (4 year old) is going to buy the beany that he was trying on. We said he is not. He kept on standing there staring at all of us. We told our son to return it and our son wanted to try it on. Finally he gave it back. The owner (wearing several masks) said my son is ruining it :-). I told my wife to leave the store and I won't spend a penny here. We have brown skin and I wear a turban so look different. The guy started yelling at me to leave after I had already told him that I won't spend a penny there because he is mistreating my 4 year old son. I told him if he doesn't like kids and brown people he should not have kids clothing. What a racist son of a bitch. Do not go here. read more

I come to Mammoth often but will never visit this shop again, as the owner is a grumpy old man who is extremely rude, beyond disrespectful, and mean to children. Walked into the shop with my family, including my very well behaved 7 year old daughter. Was purchasing a stuffed animal for her when the owner scoffed at her, making a condescending remark after she asked me a curious question. I was stunned. No way is he being this blatantly rude to a child. But he was not joking. He continued to make another rude remark to her before I shut the crusty old fart down. Would not have purchased anything from him but my daughter deserved the toy for dealing with this jerk. She and I laughed together when we decided we were rescuing the poor stuffed animal from this miserable man's domain. Still, I had to talk to my daughter afterward and let her know she did nothing to deserve that type of treatment, some people are just very unkind. So head's up. Owner is incredibly rude and will very likely mistreat you and your family, especially if you have children. He's so rude, it's almost humorous. This store is located in the Minaret Village Shopping Center where Vons is. If you're looking for Mammoth logo wear, check this place out. I've purchased t-shirts here in the past but this time I wanted long sleeves. My hoodie was $37 and the long sleeve thermal shirt was on sale for $21. It's still a little pricey but less than resort prices. Besides t-shirts and sweaters, you'll find the likes of mugs, key chains, and shot glasses. I remember buying stickers here in the past but did not notice any this time around. For those that collect them like I do, they have a pressed penny machine with a choice of 3 designs. I'm pretty sure that's the only machine in town. Come say hi to Lacy, the Yorkie, whose owner is just the owner of the store but the dog is the boss. They're open every day from 9am - 8pm. read more

Love this shop... Mostly love the nice guy (and his adorable dog) that works there... went in to buy a couple of shirts... the nice guy asked what we had planned for the long weekend. Fish were not biting and my husband was a bit bummed out. In all the years we've been going to Mammoth never once has he not caught a fish... this trip up .. no fish, not even a nibble ... Speaking of catching I was I caught his name .. but he recommend us to rent some e bikes.... best advice ever. We had the most amazing time ... even our 19 year old loved it . Only giving 1 star because 0 was not an option. Horrible owner!! I will never shop here again. Jerk got mad and picked on my 5 year old daughter for picking up and admiring the tiny stuffed animal key chains. She was too short to see them without picking them up so I picked her up. Then I saw his mask and told him ( a couple of times) that she was not sick and she needed to pick them up to see if that is what she wanted to get. He didn't care he just kept telling ONLY HER to "look with her eyes and not with her hands" in a quite condescending manner. Keep in mind that I and my older kids were also touching things and looking through merchandise with no apparent problem. I stood there for a second holding my daughter, looking at the toys, and at him. Decided that since he thought it was ok to treat small children like crap then I was not going to spend one red cent in his store EVER. I said, in a very loud voice, to my other kids, "Let's go to a different store!" They loudly agreed because they saw how awful he was to their sister. So, the owner is only rude to your kids if your kids are jacking around. Otherwise, he's down-to-earth and chatty. Just kill him with kindness :) Tons and tons of t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and hoodies to choose from. I was looking for some caps for myself and my sons. Very limited cap selection. I had to get a child's cap to fit my head while wearing sunglasses. It was 16.45 including tax (14.95 pre tax). My kids could not find any caps they liked because they like the flat bills - we went across the street to Mammoth Outdoor Sporting Goods and found their caps. Came here years ago and the sweetest lady worked there- so we came today to get some more souvenirs. We were ready (had in hand) sweatshirts, T-shirt's and magenta. My 10 year old daughter was looking at magnets and necklaces to get for her aunt. He told her to look with her eyes and not her hands very rudely. We went and put all our stuff back and as we walked out he said "sorry you came in." My daughter was in tears. Why run a souvenir shop for tourists if you don't want them in your store? Plenty of inventory the product is set up to make what your looking for easy to find. The owner and his faithful champion welcome the entire family. This store has many gift items for sale. The prices are average to high. The store owner is rude, as others have said. I did have a conversation with him earlier during our shopping visit and he seemed fine. His rude demeanor did not come out until after we attempted to return a sweat shirt within minutes. My wife said the sweat shirt was on a $32 rack and it was $58. Although I did not see any signs about his"NO RETURN POLICY" on the outside of his business, he only offered an exchange for other store merchandise. I can't say for sure if his policy is posted inside, but he will NOT give you a refund. He made it seem as if it was my wife's fault for buying the wrong item. He did kick out some people bringing in their 2 dogs while we were there. They were not service dogs. He said the pet hair gets on the clothes and makes them look dirty or used. I guess I can agree with him on that one. He does have a dog at the counter, and it will bark at you as you walk in. If you can get past the barking dog, rude owner, and no return policy, then give this place a try. For me and my family, I will not give this store my business and not allow my wife to shop here again. I will not give a store my money that does not offer a return policy. So I have a love hate relationship with this place. I love that it is the only swag shop that has remained in business for years and years here in Mammoth. Literally I remember coming to this place for over a decade... However they carry all of your basic swag; shot glasses, beach towels, clothing, hats, spoons... you know all of the collectable knick knacks that someone has to sell. Well this would be the best place just about to get it in Mammoth. Pro Tip: If you want the officially licensed Mammoth Mountain gear, go to one of the ski lifts or McCoys as they have it cheaper. So you want a fun and different design, they have it I can promise you that. You don't want winter wonderland gear but something for fishing, this is where you need to come. They have every size under the moon as well from premie to XXXXL adult gear. I think one of the best things that they have here is a penny smasher machine. I think it's the only one in Mammoth right now and they have 4 different designs to pick from. This is perhaps the best souvenir around. Cheap, fun, and lots of people like to collect them =) The owner also has a small puppy he brings to work with him every day. It makes for a fun time as all the kids love to pet the little guy and many of the adults do to. I just wish the prices were a bit cheaper =\ read more

During the blizzard, my family and I decided to go to Vons to grab a couple of things then we went to the candy store in the shop. After leaving the candy store, we took a short cut underneath the market. I saw a shirt that said PEACE LOVE MAMMOTH!!!! Since the storm was horrible, I waited for the next day to come back.
