The combination of flavors on the entrees were delightful to the palate. The ONLY reason it's not a 5/5 is because the portion sizes are too small. Amazing. How good is this place? Good enough for me to like food I don't like elsewhere. Case in point: there fried green tomatoes alter reality. They have mastered how to properly get a solid, flavorful fried crust without creating a green tomato mush in the center. Don't know how they do it, but they are amazing. I have been there several times and had a variety of meat and pork dishes. All were cooked perfectly, seasoned with balance, and prepared in ways the that gave new life to old standards. EAT HERE! Had anniversary dinner at Antebellum in Flowery Branch. Once again, a great meal! If any of my foodie friends have not eaten here, you must try! One of the best meals I have ever had! An amazing, creative chef- has to to be one of the best in the Atlanta area and maybe Atlanta over all, hands down! Dined at Antebellum a few days ago, and was pleasantly surprised. I had heard great things about the restaurant and it did not disappoint. The fried green tomato appetizer may have been one of the tastiest plates I've had anywhere. My girlfriend had the ham and pimento chess plate as a starter... it was good, but we felt it was more a pimento cheese plate, not so much a ham plate. Kind of heavy for an appetizer. The entrees' we had were also outstanding. Don't let it's location in the boonies scare you away, it may be one of the tastiest restaurants in the atlanta metro area! read more

I've been here twice. The first time, I loved it but my hubby wasn't impressed. The second time I came alone and it wasn't great. Service was outstanding and attentive without being pesky. The food is a little bizarre in the flavors combined (yet normally I love that) and both my appetizer and entree missed the mark a bit. The appetizer was a warm slice of bread (meant to be toast) with mushrooms and thin slices of ham or pork, topped with a soft boiled duck egg. Messy and would have worked better on crispy toast. My main meal was sliced pork that was very pink. It wasn't bad, just not delicious. The jazz band was great! They need to rethink the unlit back parking lot however--it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Have the city install street lights at least...it's super dark back there, and unpaved. $60 meal by myself, no liquor. I wanted the meal to be great. read more

Because they only give you 45 mins to eat, yeah not cool. They have a reservation every hour on the same table and they need your Table so the Hosted told Us that, The Server did the same and finally the Manager did the same also, they just push you out with out any courtesy. The manager told us "This is how we do it here" so do you think that she said __________. (fill the blank). So I am highly recommend you to do a triple reservation there One on your name and 2 other your Neighbors name so you are not gonna be rushed at all. Everyone was friendly and the food delicious. I had a fantastic piece of salmon. I ate alone on a whim one night and felt comfortable to do so. The bartender was very cordial and knew her wine. We chatted about our trips to Sonoma Wine country. It was pouring when I left so the hostess let me borrow an umbrella to get to my car and ran out to the curb to get it back from me. My husband and I visited for our 20th anniversary on a Friday night. Very different than any Southern food we have had. We were early for our reservation , but staff was able to seat us without a wait. My husband ordered the country fried steak. It was served with collard greens that were absolutely the most amazing we have ever tasted. I ordered the salmon, which was also wonderful. It was served over a cake of grits. The server did a perfect wine presentation for us. For dessert, we ordered the bread pudding. It was absolutely divine! We went here for the first time and I was a little skeptical. I am some what of a meat and potatoes guy and Antebellum touts theirselves as a southern restaurant with a California twist. I can say they may be transforming me from a meat and potatoes guy. The servers are very knowledgeable and super helpful. We got a fried green tomato appetizer with a fried egg. My wife and I tried it for the first time tonight for our anniversary. The fried green tomatoes topped with a fried egg were outstanding. I might replace the Tabasco sauce with a different heat, perhaps a Sriracha or a sweet chili sauce, but that's only because Tabasco isn't my favorite. Well, Ive wanted to visit this location ever since I first read about it several months ago. Set in a small town, in what at first appears to be a gorgeous house, the establishment has a country charm that's undeniable. Once your inside though, the service and food are simply outstanding. Every course was unique and delightful. Locally sourced ingredients from the appetizers to the salads to the main courses were all superb. We had four people in our party and went with 3 different entrees, any of which I would not hesitate to order again. The portions were perfect, no one left anything behind on their plates but everyone was satisfied. And the desserts....decadent. Hats off to the owners and staff. Antebellum had any wine under $50 at half price. So you might look for that special. Our group had a great experience. The fried green tomato appetizer was real good. This was our second visit to Antebellum. It was a wonderful date night close to home. The hostess was friendly and accommodating. We both had the cucumber lemon drop -was the perfect summer cocktail. Best fried green tomato app- the over easy egg on top soaks down onto the egg, brioche, and bacon with just touch of Tabasco- I could have had this for dinner. The mushroom salad was divine with a wonderfully flavorful lemon vinagrette. I can't decide which entree was better- shrimp and grits or the salmon with corn grit cake. I've lived in the south all my life but I've never felt the essence captured in any sense. We started with the fried green tomato appetizer, which took me through time to sitting on a wrap around porch with a big sun hat on eating brunch. The pork belly salad's composition of hot, cold, crunchy, soft was a texture and flavor extravaganza that can not be described as simply "delicious". We were celebrating our anniversary (in which they offered a complimentary toast) and I couldn't even focus on anything else while eating the lamb. Succulent & cooked perfectly throughout, a symphony of savory and sweet, I was completely blown away by my main course. Our service was excellent, nothing left to be desired. I am a trained chef and a 30 year foodservice professional. My wife and I eat out quite a bit and enjoy new independent restaurants. Unfortunately, the experience at Antebellum was quite disappointing. We had a four top (all foodies) and started with wine and appetizers. The wine was somewhat overpriced and the apps were poorly prepared. They had scallops on the specials menu, so we asked to substitute scallops for shrimp in the "Shrimp and Grits". The answer surprised all of us. The chef curtly replied that he would not allow substitutions. We offered to pay whatever upcharge they deemed necessary, but the answer was still a resounding "No". Needless to say the waiter was more than embarrassed and asked us if we would like to order something different. My wife decided to stay with the Shrimp and Grits, which we all took a bite since this was the "Chef's signature dish. The feedback was unanimous, shrimp overcooked, grits were almost paste like. I'm still not certain what he finds special about this dish??? I'm also not sure that the so called chef, understands what business he's decided to work in. As restaurateurs, we are in the business to make the customer experience a memorable one. That he accomplished!!! Overall rating would be a B for the wait staff, overall food quality C- at best. Attitude of the chef, priceless. If he put more effort into his dishes, than stroking his ego, he might actually produce food I would return for. Flowery Branch is a small town and a restaurant such as Antebellum should try and cater to their guest. When you get a new chef with more talent and less ego, let us know, we might come back. read more
