Our party of eight were promptly seated and served iced water. Our drinks came quickly and were of proper proportions. For dinner my wife enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits after we split a Caesars Salad. I had the Scallops which were well beyond my expatiations. All noted that their dinners were very good. The building is an old southern home with an ambiance that could be improve upon. I had my second visit to Antebellum last week and enjoyed possibly one of the best meals I ever had.. I dine out a lot and am not easily swayed by most offerings. While it isn't cheap, it does deserve the open table ranking of one of the top 100 restaurants in the US to visit. I started with fresh bread and apple jelly which is complimentary and a cocktail, very much on point. As an appetizer, had the fried green tomatoes. They are served in a stack, cooked perfectly and have a spicy sauce in between making them a real symphony of flavor. My main dish was the shrimp and grits. To look at it on the plate one might think it wouldn't be enough to satisfy but that would be the wrong assumption. Very filling and flavorful. I finished off with a classic crème brulee and it was all that I hoped for. A perfect finish to a fabulous meal. The staff were friendly and attentive. Even though we were a party of ten, everyone was served at the same time and all the dishes were hot. The only negative I can think of is that inside it gets incredibly loud. I've been telling my husband to take me since we moved to flowery branch in 2013. He finally granted my wish for our anniversary this year. It was great!! I had a salmon appetizer which was perfectly balanced and delicious. For the main course I had scallops with a lobster ravioli. The menu is pretty short and I'd like to have seen more options, but the food was good (though not generous portions...expected with to is type of food). My second time here ~ actually went through Flowery Branch to get to the Smokey Mountains to eat here.This time I was joined by some friends from Atlanta. The waitress that I had last July, Chrissa, recognized me and welcomed me back. Our waiter for this evening was Vincent. I have always wanted to try the fried green tomato appetizer since I saw it on the website. Fried green tomatoes with bacon jam, brioche, fried egg, hot sauce and Mimosa ice The bacon jam should be packaged and sold. Our waiter, Vincent, explained the proper way to eat it. I had the tenderloin and it was outstanding with a great presentation. Darlene had the grilled wild salmon with crispy cheddar grit cake, smoked tomato vinaigrette, pepper jelly, local greens and a ham chip (looked like prosciutto to me) and she was well pleased. Her husband, Troy, had the blackened, all natural, bone in chicken breast with creamed corn, fried green tomatoes, compressed cantaloupe and lemon creme fraiche. He loved it. Excellent is an understatement! We received a gift certificate for our anniversary and at first glance I thought they had a limited menu. We started with the baked Brie which was outstanding ... it included bread, fresh grapes and an side salad with excellent dressing. The appetizers itself was very filling. I ordered the salmon which was prepared perfectly. I wasn't to sure about the grit cake (I'm from the northeast) but it was fantastic. My husband ordered the steak and it was cooked exactly as he ordered. It was tender and included roasted potatoes. The sauces (and just about everything) are made from scratch and you can tell. Perfectly paired and tasty. The drinks are even unique and prepared with a "presentation". Service is just as much top notch as the food. What can I say, when you know a good place you always return and when it comes to Antebellum no other restaurant in the area comes close. I know when to make reservations for the proper time to garner great seating, though Anthony left in December my wife and I lucked out and had Brandon. In short, SERVICE! WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT!. Brandon is definitely a restaurant professional. A Georgia gentlemen he reminded me of a New York City professional server. He treated my wife and I with first class service, paired a great wine for my wife and her plate of scallops and maintained full attention throughout. I had the duck, but before we had the cheese bread appetizer, now that is some goooood stuff. Glad it is a small app as the taste could bring trouble. I could have a loaf of bread and 10 pounds of the spread and still go for broke. I have many accolades for Antebellum so I will leave it here. The cuisine and service was excellent. I ordered the salmon and fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Delish!!!! The fried green tomatoes were very flavorful with a spicy taste. The bartender was also amazing. My bae ordered the cucumber and some berry martini. Of course I had to taste it because I can't help but eat and drink everything he orders. My wife and I had our anniversary dinner at Antebellum last week. It's in an old house in the tiny town of Flowery Branch. We arrived about 10 minutes early, but were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. The menu was short, but impressive, and included several meat, fish dishes. I don't recall seeing any vegetarian dishes. We started with wine from the short wine list, and were not disappointed. We each had the chef's special salad which included crab meat and freshly grown ingredients from their local garden. It's tough to describe the salad because veggies are veggies and the dressing was custom. Let's just say that it was excellent. I ordered the beef tenderloin and my wife had the grilled lamb. Both dishes were superbly prepared and presented, but the beef tenderloin was a bit light on the grilled vegetables. We swapped dishes to sample each and I can say that both meats were tender and juicy. The sauce with the beef tenderloin was incredible. As this was a special occasion, we both had desert. My wife had chocolate bread pudding and I had the coconut cake. I'm not fond of bread pudding, but my wife loved it. The coconut cake was excellent as well, but fair warning. It was a huge slice. I ate half and took the rest home. The table service was excellent. Our server was very helpful in picking the entree and deserts answering our questions and offering personal insight. She came back many times to check on our progress but stayed out of the way when not needed. Now for the cost - just short of $200, including tip, for the two of us. We've been to several restaurants like this one, and generally we love them, but this one is a bit on the pricey side. There are better restaurants in this price range, but none of them are this far north of Atlanta. So it's a sellers market as there is really no competition unless you drive south. Disregarding cost, we rate this restaurant as excellent based on the total dining experience, and minus the cost factor. read more

There is a good reason this establishment has excellent ratings, it deserves it. The food is top notch and the staff is even better. It was a special occasion dinner for our group of four. The waiter greeted us and acknowledged the birthday celebration. The starters were perfect, pork belly, soup and pimento cheese selections were consumed in a flash. The country fried steak is a must. Perfectly cooked Tenderloin medallions. This is not your mother's country fried steak! Shrimp and grits were creamy and tasty with just a hint of heat. Desserts, if you can eat anymore, are another must have. The chocolate bread pudding and cream broule were tops. Excellent evening out and we will return. I'm from New England and recently moved to GA. Antebellum's dishes easily rival high end, farm to table in Boston, Providence, etc.. I made a reservation with an open mind and was blown away by everything we ordered. Portions wear much larger than anticipated. Appetizers were delicious and drinks were well prepared. Baked brie, foie gras, and bread had us laughing that we ordered too much and so happy over flavors. Still, we had our salmon and pork dishes coming. Lots of boxes to go and worth taking. read more

My husband and I have been wanting to try Antebellum for some time now. We finally had the opportunity to go on Valentine's Day. Because of previous commitments, we had to take the last reservation of the night. Busiest restaurant night of the year and last reservation of the night didn't impact our experience at all. Charity, our server, was fantastic, and the food was out of this world. We are already looking forward to going back to see all the different seasonal items that Chef Nick will add to the menu. Speaking of Chef Nick, he is just a wonderful guy! We love Peyton's Pie Company in Suwanee, one of his other restaurants. He sure knows how to put out a quality product and serve his customers. My wife and I made reservations tonight and were extremely pleased with the food and the service. Jennifer, who waited on us, was excellent; very attentive and extremely friendly. The appetizers we had (pimento cheese served on grilled bread with arugula AND the fried green tomatoes with bacon jam served with a sunny side egg) were totally awesome. Our entrees (I had the Shrimp and Grits and my wife had the pan seared Halibut over risotto) were also awesome. The only reason I could not give Antebellum the top score of 5 stars was the noise level inside the restaurant. I would expect that patrons eating at a fine dining establishment would behave a little more refined. Lots of loud talking and laughing. With some patrons throwing around a few curse words, it didn't make it a 5 star experience. read more

Honestly, my rating was probably a 3.5 for Antebellum. I took my mom here for her birthday dinner and was pretty excited to try this place initially. However, I was kind of disappointed... The ambience was on the casual side. Decor was rather average. The restaurant itself is inside an old house I believe. You can easily hear the squeaky sound as you walk around. I saw many groups dined here together and they were talking loudly. I was okay with it but just throwing out as a comment in case that you are looking for something much quieter and maybe somehow romantic. This restaurant may not be much so. Our main server was fine - he did his job so I had no problem with him. But other people that worked at the restaurant weren't too enthusiastic overall... That didn't make our dinner quite a pleasant one. I just don't personally think that's the way supposed to be for any one that's in a customer-facing job. Food-wise... for appetizer, I had the fried green tomatoes. It came with bacon jam, brioche, fried egg, and hot sauce. It also came with a small shot glass size of mimosa. I can only say presentation was nicer than it actually tasted. Mimosa ice was too much ice so you can barely "drink" it. For main entrees, first, we tried the pan seared wild scallops. It came with Granny smith apple purée, roasted cauliflower, pomegranate, curry whipped cream, roasted almonds, and rose vinaigrette. The cauliflower with the sauces was delicious. But the scallops were terrible. They were small, unfresh, and lack of texture. I am a scallop fan and this dish was definitely a no-go. Another main entree that we tried was the cocoa and espresso duck breast with "liquid sweet potato pie." It came with arugula, duck cracklings, harrisa, toasted pecan, and pickled red peppers. Duck was amazing!!! Really really succulent - sauce was balanced right and went well with the duck meat. The duck breast was really bouncy and chewy on the inside and lightly crunchy on the edges. This duck dish brought my rating to a 4; otherwise, I would have rated here a 3. Although the sides for this dish was mediocre, I was satisfied with the main part of this entree. But the portion was ridiculously small - only 4 medium to small pieces of duck?!?!! Lastly for the dessert, we tried the chocolate pudding with Jack Daniels - what was recommended... but honestly, it was just a normal bread pudding. Did not worth the hype at all... although compared with other servings, this dish was probably served in a relatively larger size... ironically... Other comments... Parking may or may not be challenging, depending on the time of your visit. They didn't seem to have a private lot? Bread that was served was corn bread... but was not too impressive unfortunately. Some tables were served more attentive than the other based on my personal experience and observation. And as aforementioned, pretty much all dishes were on the smaller side... My mom is actually a small eater and she complained. So you know what I mean... Not sure if I'd return here... At least it's good for us to have experienced a Southern fine dining though. read more

We were looking for a good place to eat while camping nearby, and stumbled on this place using Yelp. I also looked it up to make reservations on Open Table and there were so many good reviews. The reviews didn't lie. My husband had the salmon, I had the halibut (AMAZING), and the kids had the blackened chicken and chicken strips for the youngest. Dessert was amazing, my husband and I kept switching dessert because it was impossible to decide which dessert was better between the berry cobbler and the pound cake. (Names of these desserts do them no justice). Our server Josh knew everything about the menu, and had great suggestions. Clean restrooms, and amazing service. Our Niece Kelly bought us to Antebellum for the 1st time last Saturday and we were so busy talking that we knew that another visit was necessary. Every dish was made with an intricate flavor profile that blended the whole meal together into absolute perfection. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes (bacon jam brioche, fried egg, hot sauce and mimosa ice and went on from there. I tried the Pork Belly for the first time, southern style with pickles, peach, pecans, blue cheese and more.The cocktails were also amazing along with the "to die for" dessert. I have to complement NIck, the chef, whom we met for the first time. We have been to a lot of "farm-to-table" style restaurants throughout Northern California & wine country, but Antebellum stand head and shoulders with the very best! Next visit we will try the Vidallia Onion Soup and Wild Scallops...can't wait. The beautiful part is that they always change up the menu, so you can never get enough of this outstanding restaurant.
