We have dined at Antebellum 3 times now. We found this out of the way gem in the middle of last year (2021). The atmosphere does not have ultra high end ambiance but rather a quaint old southern feel. That said, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was wonderful, and the drinks were equally exceptional, defiantly 4-1/2 - 5 stars on our first two visits. However, on our third visit everything we, and another couple we invited, ordered was, in comparison, less outstanding. The food, and drinks just weren't up to our expectations. (I guess our first two visits spoiled us) Perhaps our third visit was on a night when Chef StClair wasn't there, who can say., but we all have off nights sometimes. We will be coming back, because even on visit #3 the fair was still better than almost anything we have had locally. If I could, I would leave 4.75 stars So, in conclusion, we will be back, but I'll call first to make sure the Chef is in. Recommended. read more

If there were more stars I would totally go for it but we can just stick with 5. This place is quite hidden, for a resident of Gainesville/Flowery Branch for over 11 years, I had no idea this place existed! I am definitely glad that I finally found this place. The service is really good and the food is even better. But why take my words for it, go there and try it yourself! I went with a friend and we ordered the appetizer it was the Beef Tartar quite an interesting taste, my friend really enjoyed it however I was a little iffy since I'm very picky. But when it came to the entree, your mouth would feel like it's exploding would goodness! Everything was made precisely to its taste, flavors were amazing and even the way the food is set up is amazing. It was too perfect to eat. Wow. That's the word that best describes the experience we had at Antebellum's. It's been a long time since a dining experience has been truly delightful, and they knocked it out of the park. The food was made with a lot of obvious care, the service was excellent (friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and relaxed), and atmosphere was inviting. We had the tenderloin and the duck entrees, which were delicious. In addition, we tried the fried green tomato appetizer. It was an unusual preparation with the bacon jam and fried egg, but wow! Delicious. Antebellum's is now on my "favorite dining spots" list, and I know we will return soon. read more

This little gem is a solid 4.5 We enjoyed the fried green tomato app that was a must have! So good . The beef bolognese was refreshing and well thought out. The salmon dish was delightful with a many delectable flavors that were truly harmonious. We took the bread pudding to go because our little one was on the move. The only initial challenge here was parking. We ended up circling a few blocks and coming back up the 1-way main street and parking down the block from this restaurant. We saw another couple doing the same thing, so this may be common here. We had a 6:30 p.m. reservation and were seated promptly, after they herded a large party back to a separate room. The ambiance was nice; they had someone playing acoustic guitar in another area, but it wasn't too loud so as to affect conversation. There were several parties who'd brought babies or very young kids along (possibly as it was the night before Mothers' Day) but this wasn't much of an issue. The food and service were quite good. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. The wine selection (by the glass) was a bit limited. The complimentary cornbread + sweet green tomato jam was a hit. We split a salad (apple slices, goat cheese, lettuce, etc.) which was tasty. My wife liked her salmon and my beef tenderloin was great. Neither of us had any leftovers, nor room for dessert. Our bill was just over $100, including drinks. We both liked Antebellum and will certainly consider returning for some special-occasion meal in the future. read more

We recently moved to the area and are trying all the local restaurants. Our server Charis was very welcoming and offered suggestions. My husband had the halibut and I had the tenderloin. Both were very flavorful and it was evident that the chef uses quality ingredients and takes pride in his offerings. We will definitely be back. read more

One of the best restaurants in the state. We have eaten here before and as good as the food was several years ago it has improved. This restaurant should not be missed! Everything our party ordered, from the fried tomato appetizer to the cocoa lamb and shrimp and grits was perfect. The chocolate brownie with ice cream and peanut butter mousse along with the sticky toffee cake and an espresso martini rounded out one of the best meals I've had in a long time. This restored home is beautifully done and the service was impeccable. This is our go to nice restaurant. I am not googling to say they are perfect but if a mistake is made they own it and make up for it. For appetizers I would recommend the fried green tomatoes, the butter salad is one of the best salads I have ever had and I highly recommend the shrimp and grits. Our family enjoyed an exceptional meal here. Being from the Pacific Northwest our standards for seafood are pretty high, and the scallops did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly and arranged with inventive accoutrements that were creative, fresh and delicious. The cream of mushroom soup was as comforting as you'd expect, and yet like none other I'd ever eaten. The desserts were as as creative, artfully presented and mouth-watering. The service was equally exceptional - every special request and nuanced order was accommodated with a smile and executed flawlessly. This place has very friendly staff and a cute, cozy atmosphere. You are literally in a house I am pretty sure...the only thing I would come back here for is a drink. The food is very bland. I got the bolognese, and my wife got the salmon. Both mediocre, if that. The corn bread is also very bland. The cocktail I got was the blueberry martini and my wife a Moscow mule. We were a party of six for a birthday celebration. They were out of the menu items three of us wanted. The appetizers were hit and miss: mostly the portion size was for one person, or "a bite or taste each" for two. I may go back as a party of two.
