I also did the Groupon for the 6' - 6'11" Christmas tree. I called to schedule delivery last Wednesday and set up an appointment for Sunday, but they gave me a big window (12N-5P) and said they'd call back to confirm and give a better time. They didn't call back, and by 4P on Sunday when it hadn't come yet, I called the nursery. I was assured that my tree was on the truck, but that the truck would be out until 7P. I really, REALLY wanted to love this. Never heard of them until I purchased a groupon last year. I thought $49 for a 7 foot fraser fir christmas tree was a phenomenal deal... and the price included delivery? Hell yes! Too bad things didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. Now here's the thing: I try to be understanding. I don't like to be the difficult client you hope to never see again. But after what I experienced, I think my frustration is warranted. My tree was scheduled to arrive fairly early, but after calling several times to find out what's going on, my tree arrived at 11 pm. I understand that they had a lot of deliveries. I expected as much, but I really wish someone would have called me to keep me updated. The tree itself was quite nice. Had a little bit of a bald spot on one side, but it wasn't terrible so I just kept that side facing the wall. Very green and fresh, and lasted quite awhile... which is great, since I keep my tree until the end of January lol. UPDATE 12/18/13: Just spoke with the owner after receiving a response on here. He was quite nice, and apologized for not just the delay, but the fact that I was not contacted about it. He explained to me that this is not a normal occurrence, and Groupon essentially forced them to take a higher amount of deliveries in order to work with them. Something I can actually believe. If that's the case, then that's pretty crappy for them since it takes a hit on their reviews. Must be why the owner is reaching out to people.. that's something I can respect. In the end, he offered to make amends and send me a wreath, as I already have a tree. Haven't had one in ages, so that would be nice. I would consider using them again. I know that even great companies can take a huge hit because of terrible circumstances. read more

Purchased a Groupon for a $49 8 ft. tree but opted for the 7 ft. due to the height of the ceilings in my apartment (loved that I had that option - saved me the time of having to cut it down myself once it got here). Went online and filled out the form for a delivery date request that they conveniently set up on their website for Groupon customers. Super easy/dummy proof. I received a call from someone at Anthony Gallo's the day before my delivery date request and she gave me a time window. I was SO pleasantly surprised when they showed up the next day 10 mins before the top of my time window. AWESOME!!!!! It's Saturday and I can eat some breakfast and go back to bed.... Ah...... And that's JUST what I did.... The tree is just beautiful!!!! (I've posted a picture). Smells great, is full but not OVERY full and SUPER fresh!!!! Best of all, I didn't have to put it in my car or tie it to the top of my car and then bring it up 2 flights of stairs. Delivery guys were kind and friendly. Terrible customer service, completely devoid of understanding for their clientele. Promised me my tree would be delivered, and that they would call back to confirm exact delivery time. After a week of not hearing back from them, I called to confirm. They couldn't find my order, and when they did, they informed me that they wouldn't be able to deliver my tree during the days they confirmed they would. They seem to have gotten in over their heads, and don't have the infrastructure to pull off a mass business initiative. Would not recommend this location. read more

I also bought the Groupon for a Christmas tree, with delivery for $39.00. I was skeptical at first, but after going to their website and reading about their tree selection, I decided it was worth a try. They were really responsive in terms of setting up the appointment, and after one email exchange, was told that they would be getting in touch with me after Thanksgiving. Lo and behold, the Monday after Thanksgiving, I got a call and we set up the delivery for the following evening. I also purchased a stand and tree life from them b/c I didn't have them. The guys were right on time with delivering the tree, though they forgot the stand and tree life. It took some persistence to get the re-delivery of those things, so I just stood the tree in a bucket of water until I got the stand. I understood that they were probably so busy with this Groupon, but that's the only reason why I didn't do a 5-star rating here, honestly. The tree itself is really nice! I think it's a Balsam Fir, and it's so nice - I think much nicer than a lot of the trees Ive seen when walking by the other tree-sale places. I'm very pleased. I hired Anthony Gallo to "re-do" my side yard--a big job since the yard is the adjoining lot. I wasn't sure if I wanted to re-sod the whole thing or just roto-till it under and re-seed it. Mr. Gallo was suggesting re-seeding because re-sodding was, by comparison, so expensive. I thought that was refreshing--a vendor trying to save ME money! I decided to go with the sod anyway, and he gave me a really good discount (I guess because of the size of the yard, and because he is such a nice man.) I also had them trim some arbor vitae. Bottom line: they showed up on time, were quiet and respectful, did a good job, were supervised by Mr. Gallo or a family member, and finished on time. Oh yeah, they also cleaned up my bedraggled, winter-destroyed flower beds. No charge! I would highly recommend Anthony Gallo. read more

Great tree, great deal. Nice owners....but. I bought this Groupon and had to try to schedule a delivery multiple times over the course of 4 days. The first time they were supposed to deliver their driver "got lost". We're both located in Brooklyn and it's 2011 - the trucks don't have GPS? Not happy. The second delivery set up time they got the tree here but only after the delivery guy called to ask if they could bring it the next morning instead. We said no and the tree was here an hour later. I love Groupon but these this nursery has gotten in way over their heads in terms of of a delivery system. read more

The delivery guy came and explained how to set it up as I am doing this on my own as a surprise to my husband and he's usually the one to set it up. I got a Groupon for a tree and it is beautiful. I bought a tree last year from Anthony Gallo and it was amazing so I waited for the deal again this year to make sure I purchased from them. There was a small mix up that I didn't realize the delivery area was out of my zone but Bee worked with me every step of the way to make sure that not only did we get the tree but it was delivered the first weekend as I requested (even though it wasn't where the delivery guys were going!). Went to pick out a Christmas tree today, and, though I've live in the city for more than ten years, I still miss the pop-up forests of my southern youth, and buying from a street stand has never quite hit the sweet spot for me. This year my husband and I drove down to visit the folks here and couldn't have been happier with the service. They had a nice selection upright and open so that the branches had settled and you could tell what the tree was likely to look like when you get it home, but they were also perfectly happy to open up as many wrapped trees as it took to suit my selective heart. They offered us delivery, but we didn't need it, and they secured the tree to our roof instead. Very helpful, knowledgable staff, I wish I had a garden so I could have reason to visit the rest of the year! read more

Just to make sure there would be no issues, I called them and they confirmed they would deliver a 7-8 foot Frasier Fir tree to my address! SO I went ahead and purchased the groupon I called a couple days later to schedule delivery. I was told they were still working on the schedule and would call me. I called a week later and a guy told me it would be delivered on Friday. I rearranged my house and told my two year old she would come home from school and her Xmas tree would be there to decorate. NO TREE! NO CALL? Nothing! I call them and am told to call another day. I call again and am told "Not to listen to any of the guys. They just cut trees!" and she would be doing the scheduling on Sunday and would call me. ON TUESDAY! 3 weeks I have been waiting for my tree! I get a voicemail that I live to far and they will be unable to deliver my tree. I LIVE IN MANHATTAN!!!! Now they are not answering their phone or emails! WHAT A SCAM!! Great experience and gorgeous tree. Ordered thru groupon with delivery. Picked delivery date and tree was delivered in time window that was given to me. When tree came to house the tree was absolutely gorgeous and way nicer than the trees that I have seen elsewhere. The deliverymen were very nice, and brought the tree in our house and placed it in our tree stand. The whole experience went smoothly from start to finish. I was really impressed that Anthony called back and was able to arrange a time to come to see what needed to be done in my backyard. I purchased the $39 Christmas Tree delivery deal from Groupon Nov. 2011. Long story short, the nursery got in over way, way, way, over their head; I never got my tree despite making more than 1/2 dozen phone calls and sending as many emails. When I did finally reach someone at AG a week later to inquire about my delivery, I was told that 1) I called too many times, 2) I was rude. When I attempted to explain my frustration and offered suggestions as to how we might remedy this situation, the rep told me they would NOT deliver my tree and hung up on me. I contacted Groupon and they apologized -- said that they would refund my money, and ask AG to deliver my tree as promised. Obviously Groupon understands real customer service. After Groupon's inquiry I did receive a call from Anthony Gallo, he apologized, and said he would give me a discount on a tree if I came out to the nursery. I replied that if coming to the nursery was an option for me, I never would have purchased the Groupon delivery offer. His reply, sorry. To their credit, Groupon understands customer service, Anthony Gallo Landscaping and Nursery does NOT!. Good luck to those of you who decide to purchase this deal. After my experience last year, I vowed that I would never purchase anything from AG & Co., and continue to encourage my network of friends and business associates to follow suit. read more
