This place is very limited & OVERpriced! I was just going over the receipt & it seems he even over charged me & for half dead flower plants, so I wouldn't be going back! Another reason, why are their flowers so sad looking and look dead? Would it hurt to take care of them, water them & deadhead them?? Also some looked like they were "sick" with fungus & aphids! I asked the short guy working there behind the cash register why does it look like some of the petunias have aphids? He mockingly laughed & said "petunias don't get aphids" ..uh, yes they certainly do "mr.expert", you can even google it! I ended up going to Home Depot & I SHOULD HAVE WENT THERE FIRST! Recently discovered this garden nursery right adjacent to the CVS parking lot. Couldn't really find any staff around so decided to walk into the plant nursery on my own. My-oh-my; I walked into a small quiet oasis filled with many different and pretty plants I had ever seen. The nursery was fully temperate to maximize the best growth of these delicate flowers and plants. No staff were around to answer any questions or asked if I needed anything; so I took my time walking around this warm nursery. Potted plants are moderately priced and plants conditions are well maintained. Although, I didn't make any purchase, I still enjoyed my walk around this place. read more

I live in the neighborhood but never really noticed this place. There are trucks and vans parcels outside hiding the entrance. And it's not marked correctly on Yelp. It's located right behind the cvs parking lot. They have great selection of flowers in the front and a greenhouse in the back. There is a small selection if pots and accessories. I was looking for perlite and strong of pearls but they were out of both. Probably delayed due to covid-19. Friendly staff. I grabbed 3 succulents ($4 each) and a mini snake plant ($7). My wife and I go here every spring and have for the last almost 20 years. Maybe the ownership has changed, but when it was Chick's, there were beautiful plants both in the yard and in the greenhouse. This year, everything in the yard was half dead. I ended up just getting the pansies and snapdragons my wife wanted and didn't even bother with the greenhouses because I was depressed at the downslide. I really hope the new management, if indeed there is new management, fixes things back up. This place was a neighborhood treasure. read more

I actually deleted my first review because I thought maybe it was a fluke and I was being unfair, but after my second purchase from this nursery, I'm at a solid one star. The nursery has a pretty decent selection at good prices and they'll have some new plants each time you go. There isn't much of a customer service here though - there's no one to greet you and if you have any questions, you'll have to find the one or two workers either at the register or taking care of plants somewhere around the nursery. The customer service isn't a huge deal to me; I like to browse in peace and if I needed to find someone, that's fine by me, but I know some people, especially plant beginners, will have questions. My issue with this nursery is the bug infestations. The first time I bought a rubber plant from them was back when I first got into houseplants. I noticed mealybugs the day after I bought it and it had to have been from this nursery because I owned two other plants and they showed no signs of ever having an infestation. Luckily, I caught it in time and managed to treat it so it didn't spread to my other plants. I recently purchased another plant from them, thinking the mealybug infestation was a one time thing. Since that one incident, I've never had any other bug issues with any of my houseplants up until today. Yesterday, I decided to repot several of my plants, which included a kalanchoe that I bought from them. Perhaps it was my fault for repotting all my plants at the same time and reusing some of the soil, but my monstera - which has been thriving since I've purchased it (elsewhere) - ended up with a massive infestation that I only noticed today due to obvious changes in leaf color. I can't think of any other plants that could have possibly caused this except for the kalanchoe. It is frustrating and annoying to have to deal with this type of infestation. I will not be returning to NUGC just based on the sheer possibility that I might infect any of my other plants. read more

I've been coming here to purchase my Christmas trees and store front plants since 2007 and I'm surprised that no one wrote a review yet? What gives? Its a privately owed family business that I give credit to. The staff can come off a bit stand off-ish at first, but once you get to know them....they can be helpful. Once Xmas comes around I'm there with bells on ready to pick up my Fraser Fir. I was recently there Mother's Day about 10:45 am and they were getting busy and short staffed. For future reference employees....have a steady staff ready! You were swamped and you needed help. Otherwise they are knowledgeable and willing to help you as long it ain't busy. I called and asked for the hours, and I was told it's 9 AM - 3 PM on Sundays and 9 AM - 6 PM Monday through Saturday. (The hours may be different during colder weather, but a quick phone call in winter time should confirm that.) I've not purchased any plants there before since I didn't have a good home for them yet, but the people working were friendly and knowledgeable when I visited to ask questions and look around for ideas. Now I have a better place to grow plants, and I plan to visit first thing this coming weekend to get some lovelies for our home! I can't wait! Decided to start my own little herb garden and found this place through Yelp! Everyone was very friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the greenhouse. Ended up buying a few basil, thyme, and rosemary plants as well as some gardening tools. They were extremely affordable and if these herbs turn out well, I will definitely be back for more. read more

Awesome selection of plants, a very quaint place in the neighborhood. There's a large outdoor section as well as a greenhouse with many indoor plants. I bought several succulents for a reasonable price. I came around 7pm and they were still open despite the sign saying otherwise. This is the best place to buy Christmas trees in all of Brooklyn-without a doubt the freshest, the nicest people, and they don't expect you to pay their kid's tuition at Princeton for the price of one tree.
