Anthony's at Paxon Hollow -- Event
    L L.

My review is for this place as a venue for an event. I recently had to speak here in front of over 200 people, and I was totally nervous for it, trying to picture what it would be like ahead of time. So for those hoping to have an event, I've posted pics and a video so you're not left wondering how the room in action will look, with plenty of people packed in there. The ballroom is spacious, rectangular shaped, and has a patio all along one long side, with multiple doors/windows looking out over the golf course. The room has a staircase along the opposite side, for bridal entrances, bouquet throws, etc. For my event, they used the staircase landing as a stage. Because this landing is half way along a long side of the room, you do need to make sure to address the crowd turning your head a bit both ways, to make eye contact with everyone. If you install a rented stage at one end of the rectangle, you'd look straight out at everyone. Just FYI. The event bar was set up along the wall connected with the rest of the clubhouse. (CC members and other guests were dining in that clubhouse space, with dining room, large bar, and restrooms.) The event I attended was open bar, as part of the set up with Anthony's, and the bartenders did a fabulous job of keeping a ton of people satisfied and well-liquored. The well stuff they used, was, well, well. But a couple drinks helped me be able to speak, so I'm not complainin'! Food was provided as an app table, with many options, but unfortunately it was gobbled up so fast that neither I, nor anyone I knew there was able to get any. So I guess it was good! This is a nice place, but more contemporary, not one of Philly's very fancy old country clubs, with amazing architecture. One of my cousins had her wedding reception at Edgmont CC, and Paxon Hollow is a little similar to that. Decor is like preppy-country, updated, but new construction for the most part, a bit HGTVish. The drive up to the facility is straightforward, and they are set up for pick-up and drop-off right there at the front door if you are being driven. Oh, and I was able to pull off my speech without forgetting much, and delivered it with a lot less nervousness than I ever thought I'd have in front of over 200 strangers.

First time at Anthony's today for Mother's Day Brunch what a wonderful experience it was!! It was set up all in pink which was so pretty. The stations were awesome. You got a free mimosa with brunch which was great!!! The waffles that they served were fabulous!!!! Actually all the food was fantastic. The nice part was that you didn't feel rushed when you were eating at all. I recommend going there for a Mother's Day brunch !!! You won't be disappointed.

My parents come here periodically, and I'd been trying to join them on one of my visits back home,…read morebut on a couple occasions we couldn't get reservations, and then the third time, we got one but it turned out they were going to be closed that week for a post New Year's vacation. Fast forward to this latest visit home. I finally secured a reservation...but then late yesterday afternoon my mom's knee started acting up to the point where she could barely stand on it. Fortunately, ice, Advil and rest overnight--and my mom really, really wanting to come here--kept us on track, and tonight I finally made it. It's a cozy spot, and I can see it making an excellent date night, especially since the BYOB setup allows you to bring the wine of your choice (and save some $$). We were seated promptly--this Sunday was relatively mellow--and the servers were super accommodating about removing a chair so that my mom's walker could occupy the unused space on our four-top. The menu is what I call right-sized. It may seem smallish, but there is a strategic assortment of salads and apps, pastas and mains (and, of course, desserts) that is sure to accommodate everyone. Dean, the young man who would go on to do an outstanding job taking care of us for the night (with the other two servers chipping in seamlessly as needed), went through the specials. My mom was particularly intrigued by a squid-ink fettucine with lobster and shrimp (and cherry tomatoes) in a saffron cream sauce. Could we split it as an app, we asked? Would it be too much food? On Dean's advice, we went ahead, while my dad got the mussels. All three of us ordered the pork chop, which my parents have been raving about for a couple years now. How could I not try it? Ordering finished, bread and olive oil (with a bit of balsamic) arrived at the table. Knowing I had a pasta coming and that the pork chop was a good-sized portion, I didn't want to overdo it, which I think was ultimately a good choice. The bread took the edge off, and then the pasta arrived. It was just the right amount for two people to share as an app, and we both enjoyed it, while my dad loved his mussels (and then dunked lots of his bread in it). Then came the main event. The pork chop lived up to (and frankly, exceeded) the hype. It was tender and perfectly cooked and oh-so-flavorful. Definitely one of the best I've ever eaten, and this isn't my first pork-chop rodeo. It was accompanied by asparagus and yummy baby Yukon Gold potatoes; I left a view of the latter, not because they weren't yummy but rather because the pork chop was huge and I was not skipping dessert. For dessert, I went with the house-made cannoli, which was a lovely, sweet (but not oversweet) ending to an excellent meal. I'd be happy to come back to Burrata anytime.

The waiters were very attentive. The menu was limited but has something for everyone. I went with the Chicken Parmiginia. The sauce was flavorful and delicious. The chicken was so tender and the portion size was just right. Not overwhelming at all. My wife had the squid ink pasta in a white wine and garlic sauce with crab meat. She didn't leave a morsel. We were amazed at how good our food was and why we hadn't dine here before. We split a mixed greens salad which was also delicious with apples. Topped it off with Strawberry Gelato and Limoncello cake. We had a great date night and can't wait to go back. Very reasonably priced and also a BYOB. So grab your friends or family, some adult beverages and have a wonderful dining experience. Burrata we will be back and sooner then later.

So their Cacio E Pepe was a natural choice for me. Gnocchi is not typically my first pasta choice of texture but Luca's makes the gnocchi and sauce blend so well together . I feel like I would love this sauce on fettuccine and I would like that more but I also think it complements the texture of the gnocchi better too. The shrimp accentuates this dish . So hopefully you like shrimp. They peeled off the shells completely which was nice. The bread had tasty herbs and the salad was refreshing. The sfogliatella was crunchy with tasty custard but the winning dessert has to be the pistachio ricotta cake.. The flavor of the cake is a fun experience in one's mouth and I didn't feel it was too cheesy or too sweet etc. The ingredients are just balanced so well together for a "food harmony." Anyone reading this and seeing that made up term wants to make you give this place a try now! Everything tastes like it was made from scratch. The menu may be relatively small, but they are good at what they do. Staff was friendly and they seem to know their regulars and new people. I also might have been the only one ordering on a random Wednesday night. I believe there is a small seating area but I took out.

The two of us shared a house salad (apportioned in the kitchen) topped with an order of calamari. If you like calamari, try theirs. Nicely fried rings, tentacles and plenty of 'em. (I have to remember to ask them NOT to dress the salad. I don't really like their Italian vinaigrette.) While the photo of my chicken and T's veal look almost the same, they're not. The sauce on his "Caridinale" has more zing than what's on my "Bolognese." Both good, but his a bit better. If you prefer pasta, as we do, ask the server to swap out potatoes, which appear to be their usual side. In addition to the menu there are always specials, some of which are pricier than expected. (Be sure to check!) Dinner was pleasant and unhurried. We appeared to be one of the few without reservations but if you come later, you may want to make them. The interior is cozy and welcoming with neutral colored furniture and ambient lighting. When we walked in, we were greeted by what appeared to be the owner who checked us in for our reservation. The tables are a little close together so I can see how it might get cramped if every table is occupied. This wasn't the case tonight, though, as there were empty tables scattered throughout. Plenty of parking in the lot, too. Our waiter took great care of us from start to finish. Super attentive and friendly staff from what I heard and saw at other tables. One thing I would suggest is providing bread for the table. That would've made it a 5 star rating for me. We chose the Mozzarella Caprese as our appetizer and the mozzarella was fresh and firm. I added some salt and pepper to taste. My entree was the gnocchi truffle. The sauce was extremely flavorful and the gnocchi was al dente. The truffle pieces and cheese on top made it a 10/10 meal. We skipped dessert, but each enjoyed an espresso. Everything we ordered got to our table relatively quick, which was unexpected for a "holiday" that is typically busy. They seemed to have their operation under control, and that's awesome. A big thumbs up to Fellini Cafe. I'm looking forward to dining here again!

The store is decorated with a lot of Italian transportation...small cars and Vespas. I loved the high ceilings, and the upper level seating. Our server, Alex, was very personable despite being busy with a large bday gathering and several other tables. He made us feel welcome as he went over the specials and took our orders. I got the chicken Parmesan which is my goto litmus test, while my date got the beet salad with grilled chicken. The food arrived promptly and looked and tasted delicious. My chicken parm was yummy, crispy chicken with melted cheese over delicious spaghetti! The beet salad was also well received. We saw several tables getting some delicious bread and asked for a basket. I thought it may be complimentary however it was 8$ a basket. They make it in house and drizzle it with olive oil. Served with some fresh rosemary and soft butter, it was delicious and well worth the price, just don't fill up on it! We were pressed for time so turned down their house made gelato, however we passed the gelato station on the way out and regretted this decision, it looked amazing! The experience was a little bizarre. Their website says "Rosalie doesn't allow reservations for 1,…read moreplease just walk in". I walked in, as directed, just for a very flustered man at the front of the house to fumble with his system for a good 10 mins. Telling me there was a table, then taking it back and saying there were no tables for the night, then saying nevermind and making me a reservation for two (which I would have done if not discouraged by the website) for half an hour later. At this point I already had a very bad taste in my mouth from the level of chaos. I waited outside for my table. When I got to my table I will say my server was very nice until a strange comment came up at dessert. Once I ordered my dessert, he left and came back with two spoons, saying "I brought two spoons for us." It almost seemed implied he'd join me. I dine a lot alone, voluntarily. Most of the time it's after work and I really don't want, let alone need, company. His comment gave me anxiety as I wondered how I would politely tell this man I wanted to dine alone. When he brought the dessert he did not join me but made sure to say "I'll be back for a few bites." Maybe it was a joke but to me it was very odd and made me pretty uncomfortable. I gave three stars just for the Cacio e Pepe. It was very good. I did (without giving tmi) have a very sick stomach after the meal and the morning after so I wouldn't return just incase that was the cause. Like a said... a weird experience.
