We live 1.5 miles from Anthony's at Paxon Hollow. We go there and order takeout on a regular basis. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal. The shrimp lejon, clams, wings, pizza, burger, pasta, and everything in between have been great. They always have a specials list which consists of a few different appetizers, entrées, and pizza option. The last few times I have ordered the bone in pork chop with Marsala gravy, mushrooms, and onions. It comes with oven roasted potatoes, asparagus, and I always order a side of french fries and long hots to soak up the excellent Marsala gravy. No doubt it is one of my favorite dishes. They just added a bunch of new TVs, high top tables, and more seating all around. The patio is a great option in warmer weather. Excellent service all around. Vanessa, Laura and Val are great bartenders. My only complaint would be their beer selection. They need to do a better job with the draft list. This is a great spot worth checking out. read more

My review is for this place as a venue for an event. I recently had to speak here in front of over 200 people, and I was totally nervous for it, trying to picture what it would be like ahead of time. So for those hoping to have an event, I've posted pics and a video so you're not left wondering how the room in action will look, with plenty of people packed in there. The ballroom is spacious, rectangular shaped, and has a patio all along one long side, with multiple doors/windows looking out over the golf course. The room has a staircase along the opposite side, for bridal entrances, bouquet throws, etc. For my event, they used the staircase landing as a stage. Because this landing is half way along a long side of the room, you do need to make sure to address the crowd turning your head a bit both ways, to make eye contact with everyone. If you install a rented stage at one end of the rectangle, you'd look straight out at everyone. Just FYI. The event bar was set up along the wall connected with the rest of the clubhouse. (CC members and other guests were dining in that clubhouse space, with dining room, large bar, and restrooms.) The event I attended was open bar, as part of the set up with Anthony's, and the bartenders did a fabulous job of keeping a ton of people satisfied and well-liquored. The well stuff they used, was, well, well. But a couple drinks helped me be able to speak, so I'm not complainin'! Food was provided as an app table, with many options, but unfortunately it was gobbled up so fast that neither I, nor anyone I knew there was able to get any. So I guess it was good! This is a nice place, but more contemporary, not one of Philly's very fancy old country clubs, with amazing architecture. One of my cousins had her wedding reception at Edgmont CC, and Paxon Hollow is a little similar to that. Decor is like preppy-country, updated, but new construction for the most part, a bit HGTVish. The drive up to the facility is straightforward, and they are set up for pick-up and drop-off right there at the front door if you are being driven. Oh, and I was able to pull off my speech without forgetting much, and delivered it with a lot less nervousness than I ever thought I'd have in front of over 200 strangers. read more

The food was sub par & the service was non existent. We went for Easter brunch and at $35 pp I expected a decent buffet meal but nothing extraordinary. That was even a struggle. The food was flavorless, chicken marsala which was chicken in brown gravy, omelets made in non stick pans with metal spatulas & desserts were an array of donuts & Danish that appear to be grocery store bought. Once many things were empty there were never refilled, so we didn't even get to try some things. Our water glasses were NEVER refilled and we were brought drinks once & never followed up. After they began resetting for the next seating we had to go find someone to get a bill. We had a larger group so this was quite a bit of money & we were left deciding were we were going to go eat after this meal. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I had a wonderful experience working with the event team at Anthony's at Paxon Hollow! I am a professional event manager and recently organized a 250 person gala-type fundraising auction event in the ballroom. My primary contact was Melissa, who was wonderful to work with and managed every detail with flexibility and ease. Our event required significant tech rental, and they were very accommodating while working with a third party vendor in this capacity. We even needed two site visits prior to the date of the event and Anthony's team could not be nicer helping to make this part of our event run smoothly. The absolute best part of the event was the FOOD. Nearly every comment during our event was about the fantastic menu! We opted for a buffet and there was plenty of food served over the course of two hours to keep our attendees happy. (Get the chicken parm!) The ballroom is very nicely decorated and there is a permanent bar area that worked well serving a group our size. The restroom facilities are clean and updated, as is the facility as a whole. The catering staff was pleasant during the event and extremely helpful with set-up and event staging. First time at Anthony's today for Mother's Day Brunch what a wonderful experience it was!! It was set up all in pink which was so pretty. The stations were awesome. You got a free mimosa with brunch which was great!!! The waffles that they served were fabulous!!!! Actually all the food was fantastic. The nice part was that you didn't feel rushed when you were eating at all. I recommend going there for a Mother's Day brunch !!! You won't be disappointed. read more

Had dinner with my fiancé and another couple last Friday night. Our table overlooking the golf course was ready at the time it was promised. Our waitress Lauren was quick to get us menus and our drink orders. We placed our order and our appetizers were quick to come. The clams casino were to die for. The other couple had some special request and tweaked their orders putting in substitutes changing the entree to their liking. I accidentally ordered the wrong brick oven pizza. I was going to take it anyway but Lauren insisted on changing the order that it was not a big deal. The dinner was phenomenal and a big part is due to our server Lauren it was completely amazing!! It was not my first time dining there and it will definitely not be my last. The food the atmosphere and the drinks were great but having Lauren's great personality made it even better. Was here today for a post communion lunch and we had a great time! All the appetizers were delicious, except for the baked clams which I wouldn't order again. Had the bacon wrapped shrimp, cheesesteak egg rolls, buffalo wings, and the baked clams. Drink wise was a little disappointed in the Bloody Mary but the vodka tonic I had was made well, so probably best keeping it safe. Service was wonderful, nice, and quick, but not overwhelming. Entrees we had a wide array of foods, but I personally had the Parma pizza and really enjoyed it. Could've been finished a little more on the bottom, but flavors were great. read more

Terrible service!!! Walked into the bar this evening at 5:45. Entire restaurant was empty. Was told by the hostess we could not be seated. Made a reservation on Open Table for 8 for outdoor seating a half an hour later while we proceeded to to wait at the bar and open a tab. When we checked in for our reservation we were told again there were no tables. While there were at least ten open tables available in the restaurant. Very poor service and even though we had a reservation the only excuse we were given was that it was Mother's Day weekend and they were busy. Meanwhile we were 8 mothers who were looking for a relaxing evening with friends which turned into anything but relaxing. Needless to say we left paid our bar tab and had to find another location for the evening. So sad for a restaurant that has a reputation for caring for their patrons. read more

Went there for Thanksgiving buffet. Turkey was sliced as thin as lunch meat and all sides were served with a small ice cream scoop. No seconds as wait staff were uncertain they had enough food for everyone and when it came time for dessert only a handful of plates of pumpkin pie came out. Recently went here for a bridal shower and it was perfect! The brunch buffet was amazing. They made omelets to order, french toast, pastries, and lunch options. They also had orange, cranberry, and raspberry mimosas! Loved that. The ballroom where the shower was held was really elegant and decorated nicely for the shower. I recently had dinner here with my wife over the weekend and could not have been more pleased! Our meal was excellent! My wife and I were astounded by how quickly our food came out! Everything tasted fresh and homemade which we both appreciated. The only problem was trying to pick something from the menu as there were too many delicious sounding items to choose from. We ordered take-out for dinner yesterday, as they're offering it during this quarantine. The woman taking my order could not have been nicer! Unlike other places, where I feel I get abrupt, rushed service, she was calm, polite and warm. The Baked Clams and Angry Scallops over Crab Risotto appetizers were excellent. I can't wait to go back and get them again. The Fruitte de Mare was excellent also, with generous portions of shrimp, scallops and crab. The crab cakes were very good, as was the beet salad. Having done some online searching for similar type restaurants, I felt their prices were reasonable, and the quality of their food is outstanding. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at this venue. Everything was perfect from the food to the service. Anthony's provides paramount quality and quantity of fare. Melissa and Pat worked so closely with us long before our special day. They took amazing care of my husband and I at our ceremony and more so, at the reception. I was so busy after my ceremony trying to get ready for the reception and hadn't eaten too much. While my guests were having cocktail hour, Pat had brought up a gracious tray of hors d'oeuvre's for me! I was so thankful for this! For the remainder of the evening, I didn't have to ask for anything because Pat was right there with a refreshed cocktail for me, tissues, and anything else that I needed! My dress was "Cinderella huge", and he even helped me up and down the stairs numerous times! He also was very attentive to my husband. Because of him, we were able to enjoy our night with friends and family. Pat and Melissa, you mean the world to us and we'll never forget the hospitality you provided us; thank you from the bottom of our hearts! THE FOOD: Was out of this world! If you're looking for authentic Italian; this is the venue! Our guests are still talking about the food and when you're from a big Italian family; it's EVERYTHING! Anthony did a remarkable job! I threw a party for my son here based on a recommendation of a friend. We needed a venue at the last minute and they were nice enough the accomodate us in the Grand Ballroom with beautiful views of the golf course. Everyone loved it. We had an open bar...buffet style dinner. We went with the stuffed flounder, roast beef and chicken marsala. Everyone loved the food. The display was A-mazinggggg! I can't say enough about Anthonys...they helped get us out of a jam and made our party better than we can ever imagined it. read more

I recently went to dinner on a Friday night at Anthony's. The dinner service and food were amazing. Aside from the room being noisy it was a very dinner. My server recommended I stay after dinner as they were going to have a DJ playing. I decided to stay and that was a big mistake! I have never been to a bar where they bartender was more interested in talking to and giving drinks to his friends. I asked the bartender ( Steve, I think) for a drink three times and he ignored me! After being ignored I left and will never come back! Meanwhile, the second bartender was running around like crazy! The need to understand that people in a bar would like to get a drink. BRIDES PLEASEEEEEEEEEE DON'T BOOK WITH THIS VENUE!! I booked with this venue in the beginning of my engagement after meeting with Pat. He spent the entire meeting discussing all the lovely renovations that would be done prior to our wedding taking place. Pat said that the renovations would be done over the summer (well before my wedding would take place in June the following year). A few months later (after little communication from my initial meeting with Pat) we had our food tasting. The food tasting was an absolute disaster. From the food being disgusting and bland and tasting like high school cafeteria food, to receiving a $60 check afterwards because our mothers came. We were completely livid. But the icing on the cake was the zero renovations that still hadn't been done, months after we paid the deposit. The very next day I left Pat a voicemail and sent him an email. I'm a paralegal, so I'm extremely thorough and attentive to detail. I emailed Pat all of my correspondences with Melissa showing that she never stated that I couldn't bring our 2 freaking parents and asked for the full refund. I also mentioned the renovations that he promised that clearly weren't ever done. Pat became a completely different person. He said the food tasting was only for the bride and groom. I explained that it was never stated in any paperwork that it was complimentary for just the two of us. Our mothers paid for the wedding, and I don't eat meat so I would like more than one person's review of this food. I also asked how can you charge for additional food, when you still presented us with one plate for everyone to share. He said it's their policy and no refund would be issued. Then I asked about the renovations and why the venue looked exactly the same. First, he acted as if he never made any promises about renovations, then after I kept asking several questions, he back tracked and said that it's hard to get the licenses for renovations in the county. So basically, no renovations would be done prior to my wedding. At this point I was absolutely livid. First if you are going to nickel and dime me now for freaking $60 then this is going to be a long process. Second, I would have never ever booked with that venue based on how it looked. Everything in the ballroom looked outdated, the carpet was dingy and old, and the venue as a whole looked old, and I literally had stopped looking at venues based off the lies Pat had told us. So, I told Pat that I was unhappy and would rather book somewhere else and that I wanted my deposit back. Initially, he said no. Then when I threatened legal action, he gave us our deposit back immediately. THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS DONT BOOK WITH PAXON HOLLOW. From Pat being a con artist, to Melissa they are just horrible and honestly seem as if they don't fully comprehend customer service. Two weeks after firing Paxon Hollow, I booked with Regal Ballroom and we just got married on June 10th. They were literally the polar opposite of Paxon Hollow. Netty, and Chris were so amazing and attentive. The food at the food tasting was amazing, we were allowed to bring our moms, the entire venue was brand new and by the wedding day they had even made some tweaks to the bridal suite, we were able to keep the same date as before, had a million times better customer service, and paid a lot less then Paxon Hollow. I was actually fairly disappointed with my experience at Anthony's. When we walked in, it was pretty empty, making our reservations feel kind of silly. We were seated and offered no menus, then asked if we wanted drinks or an appetizer. We asked for menus, were given them, and immediately (like, before we could open them) asked again if we wanted anything. Eventually we ordered the following: Calamari - Totally mediocre. Obviously frozen, which is fine, but super boring with a very bland sauce. Hard Cider - They get no credit for the fact that I love hard cider, but the bottles looked very old. Crab Cake Sandwich with fries and cole slaw - The crab cake was great. The bun was either over toasted, or sat under the heat lamp for too long. Since the cole slaw was also oddly warm, I'm guessing the later. The fries were fine, but they advertised "Jersey Shore Fries", whatever those are, and we got pretty plain fries. Maybe fries are plain at the Jersey Shore? Shrimp Tacos with fries and cole slaw - This cole slaw came separately and was cold and delicious, and the shrimp tacos were great. The other reviews for this place are so great that I want to try it again, but I have to say i was not as happy as I wanted to be. No one communicated to the dj that if you weren't seated at your table, they would not serve you or that if you hadn't eaten, they will just move on and take your food away. We made reservations on Mother's Day for the 1:30 brunch for a party of 5. When with Checked in with the hostess, we were told that our table was in the "main restaurant" not the ballroom where the buffet was. We went to the"main restaurant" (the bar area) tables were not marked or reserved, it was open seating and there was no one to seat us or guide us. Once we sat down they took a drink order and we proceeded to the buffet. Which by the way was about 5O yards from where we were seated. The food was prepared fine although the lines were long, but what do you expect on a holiday. During the meal no one came around to clean plates so we stacked them in an empty table next to us. Once they did clear the plates they took the silverware, which they did not replace so we took them from an open table. When it came time for dessert,they served ice cream and of course no spoons were provided. When we asked for 4 spoons (after we had to find a server to ask) they came back with three tea spoons and one soup spoon. Once the check came it had 19% gratuity added which I expected. Overall not the same positive experience we had at Easter when we attended the same buffet. Thank goodness the food was good to offset the poor service and disorganized seating. read more

Overall this place is pretty good. The prices are reasonable and most of their food is really good. Great pizza and their specials are always so good. My only real complaint is that the specials are the best food and then they're gone. My husband is obsessed with their ribs and they rarely have them anymore. My husband and I were patrons at this restaurant in Jan 2018 and really enjoyed ourselves. I ordered a salad with my entree not realizing it was full size but I didnt mind because all the food was good. They also had a specialty cocktail menu which we both enjoyed. The fireplace and decorations made things nice and cozy. After talking with friends who brought their son we decided to bring our daughters for a dinner. The menu had changed and was much smaller. My daughter asked for choc milk which they didnt have and then they did not have lemonade ( I guess none of the golfers are drinking arnold palmers here!). We were not given a drink menu or cocktail menu and I ordered moscato which they also did not have. The specials board showed 2 specialty cocktails but they were both dessert oriented. My daughters ordered pizza, I ordered chicken parm, and my husband ordered steak. The menu is by no means large but with Anthonys the food is always good. If I went back I wouldnt bring my children (people with younger chikdren there is no changing table) and I would go much later for dinner. We were there at 6 and the place was REALLY crowded with golfers milling around. Something that isnt a huge deal is that the bathroom uses large baskets of paper towels to dry your hands. I feel like in 2018 restaurants should use air dryers but thats just me. read more

I had my daughter's Sweet 16 there last night. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was delicious. We had the Penne Alla Vodka, Chicken Fingers, French Fries (delish), Roast Beef and green beans. Everyone loved the food. The manager Melissa was extremely attentive. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. We had looked at renting a banquet hall in Newtown Square and when I worked out the numbers it would have been $20 per kid and then I would have had to pay for the food and drinks. I had my wedding at Paxon on 11/1/14. It rained all day & I was so upset to not be able to have the ceremony outside. It didn't matter one bit. Pat & Melissa were so accomodating & patient & made the ballroom look absolutely beautiful! Pat made sure I was ok & if I needed anything the entire time. The food was absolutely AMAZING! People raved about it! The staff is so friendly & helpful. Afterwards, the party moved to the bar area & we continued the dancing & fun. The place was packed! We happened to be the only table seated in the restaurant on a Wednesday night,and the food came out slower than most places during a rush. Very puzzling.
