I've been looking for a barber in the Naperville area for the past 3 years without finding anyone that is consistent and good at their job, until I went to Anthony's barber shop. Anthony does a great job at understanding your hairstyle and anticipating how your hair might do with a certain haircut. He cuts hair quickly but efficiently, and is pleasant to be around while you're sitting in his chair. Prices are affordable and are definitely worth it. Needed my sides faded so I did a quick search on google for barbers near me. Anthonys Barber Shop was the closest, so I decided to check them out. I figured I was only getting my sides and back tapered, why not? The location sneaked up on me and I had to do a u-turn, so be careful not to miss it. I really liked the look of this shop and that each barber had its own individual private room, with their names written above the door. I had the luxury of Mr. Victor The Barber to cut my hair. He's been cutting hair for 30 years. I explained to him what I was looking for and he did a wonderful job. He was very professional, particular, and precise! we arrived at the barbershop right when they were opening . There's few if any barber shops in and around naperville. when a person recommended this , we just drove to it . The guy who greeted us inside was cold and not friendly at all . they have personalised rooms for each customer . So i went inside with my fiancé and sat in one room of the guest chairs and comfortably put my feet up without the sandal . They told me off saying " you have to put your feet down . NOW " the way they said it was offensive . And i always thought people who are white always have treated the Afro Americans bad but it is not true . it depends on individuals, not race , color or anything can teach someone to be nice . It's so hard to find a good and reliable barber these days. I typically don't like to give scathing reviews about an establishment on Yelp without giving a business a couple of visits, however the first impression made by the barber I had an appointment with, Kendall, and the alleged owner, aggregate to a paltry experience and that's putting it mildly. The only reason I'm giving this barbershop a 2star rating instead of 1 is because of their cleanliness, this is in fact a neat and tidy location with private rooms for each barber and their clients, with some decent music playing that's not off-putting if you have children. Unfortunately, it's truly a shame that not even the owner felt it necessary to put forth a fraction of the effort he was putting into sweeping the floor into resolving my service issue, because in his words my problem was with an "independent contractor." Check this out they'll charge you 50% of the rate for your service if you do not cancel your appointment at least 2hrs prior if you miss the appointment, along with additional rules covering late arrivals and how they will be handled. Seems reasonable for a business that wants to stay on schedule, right? What recourse do you the customer have when the barber fails in the same regard though? Here's where the 1star service I received today comes in... After driving 30min to get there based on the praise of a close friend and seeing the results of her son's haircut that's a similar style to mine, I arrive to my 2:00 appointment on my lunch break 5min early. When I walk in the alleged owner can't be bothered to say good afternoon or any other type of greeting pleasantry, just "Do you have an appointment?" I respond yes, with Kendall, "head to the back," COOL. Kendall still has a client in his chair, not a big deal, I understand that sometimes you need to finish up and things run over a few minutes...I waited 20min and no sign of Kendall finishing anytime soon, so I explain to him quite frankly that he is 20min late for my appointment, which was unacceptable and I wasn't interested any longer. Superficial apology received and discarded. Walk back out to the owner and ask him if he could give me a haircut instead seeing that he is the only other barber in the building and his client is now gone and he is just sweeping up. His response: "Do you have an appointment?" Really?!? So obviously you couldn't have cared less when I walked in and told you why I was there because the appointment wasn't with you? I explain the situation. Appointment with Kendall, he's 20min late, blah blah...he asked "Did you explain that to Kendall?" REALLY?!? Yes, I did, but I'm trying to get a haircut now and I explained the distance I drove and my dissatisfaction. If he was truly the owner and cared about customer service here was his opportunity to turn a shameful first impression around, earn a new client and potentially gain additional business. However, he wasn't interested, he tells me that he can't do a cut without me having an appointment, so obviously walk-ins are not welcomed here. His words when I question his ownership status and explained my irritation; "Your problem is with Kendall and he is an independent contractor," sounds to me like he's just collecting off of others work. Cool, I won't be back. Look bottom line this review is just to help both the business and consumers know better so they can do better. The owner could have defused all of this and just cut my hair, Kendall could have apologized with an offer of half off the cut. Something, anything but the above was my first impression and typical of why it's so difficult to find a good reliable barber these days. read more

Called for a same day appointment. Anthony recommended Kendall to cut my sons hair, as he does not cut kids. They were in desperate need of a haircut. Even though we were a few minutes late, Kendall took us right away. He was very professional and knowledgeable when discussing our options. Very nice young man, excellent with the kiddos, will be back. Love the decor of the shop. Each barber has his own private space. Really nice and comfy waiting area. If you're looking for a barber I would definitely try them out. They are located next to the Speedway by 355 on Ogden. read more

Old school barber shop. I called here after my usual barber couldn't fit me in on a Saturday. Anthony was available and told me to come on by. Everyone was friendly and you got that welcoming vibe when you walked in. I brought my 3 month old with me and felt comfortable with her there while i was in the chair. Try A bunch of different barbers doing their thing while some smooth beats played in the background. You wouldn't expect a place like this in Lisle, but I'm glad it's here. Anthony is very argumentative with customers, went off on my 17 year old son for being 5 minutes late, find another career Ant, your attitude is terrible as if someone owes you something, your not cutting anyone's hair for free,this is your livelihood. Anthony's takes care of our boys whenever we go there. They do a phenomenal job on all 6 or 7 heads and they trim beards and mustaches without being asked. The environment is friendly and welcoming. Never open when its supposed to be open. No sign saying "we went on vacation, or be back after lunch." Just randomly closed when the sign says its opened. Should have a new sign with opening hours that say ehhh open whenever. read more
