I am not exaggerating when I say Terry saved my wedding dress and, therefore, my special day. I went to Terry for some other items a few weeks before my wedding and mentioned my wedding was approaching and my dress was still en route from the international manufacturer; I said I was hoping it worked because there had been no fittings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She immediately offered to do the work no matter the turn-around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the dress about a week before the wedding (!) and went straight to Terry. There was so much work that needed to be done - shortening the train, hemming, strap adjusting, panels added where I hadn't lost the weight I'd intended (!). Plus, she suggested other changes to make the dress more comfortable and wearable for the long day. Two days later I went back for a fitting and it was leaps and bounds better than before; miracles had been wrought in 48 hours. A day or so later (at this point, a few days before my wedding), I went back for a final fitting and it was basically perfect. She made the small fix and I picked it up the day before my wedding. It fit like a glove and I was thrilled!! I cannot recommend Terry and Nick enough!! People may ask about the cost: I would've paid them anything because of the timing and how much work was involved. They 1 million percent earned their fees as far as I'm concerned. They are absolutely worth it and have a lifelong client in me. read more

I came here a couple of weeks ago, for hemming a new pair of pants & I finally got around washing them, and I discovered some damage, cut fabric, near the alteration. See photo. I should've inspected my property prior to leaving, but I didn't think I would have to do that. $100 for pants and $30 for alteration now pants are ruined. Since I paid a premium of $25 for hemming alteration only, I expect a higher standard of premium care for articles of clothing. I would advise against using this business, but if you do thoroughly inspect your property prior to leaving. read more

I really debated if I wanted to post this review, especially because this is a small business, but I wish I knew the expectations beforehand, so after a lot of thought, I've decided that this should be shared. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called several days ago to ask for a quote on hemming a dress. A young man answered (soon came to learn that this was their son), and he was really nice. He said that they don't typically give quotes over the phone for obvious reasons and proceeded to ask me what exactly I needed tailored. I replied that I have a silk dress that needs hemming, including a train. He said it would cost about $100. He proceeded to schedule an appointment for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tailoring service was actually very good. Her recommendations were appreciated and I went with them (only hem the front of the dress, don't hem the train). This is the reason I am giving it two stars instead of one. Now it's time to pay the bill, and the cost, to my shock, is $200. I was so taken aback that I didn't know what to say. I explained the $100 quote I received over the phone and their response was they don't provide quotes over the phone for obvious reasons. Because of this, I said I understood. In my mind though, I thought the discrepancy between the son's quote and what I was being charged in this moment was insane--double. Immediately both the owners were eager to take out the pins in my dress, to which I quickly replied wait, can I think about this? In the end, I decided not to proceed, but not because I can't afford it, but because I can't fathom spending that much on a hemming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As he proceeded to take out the pens, he made one of the rudest and pettiest comments I've experienced in a while. He said "you'll have to buy a new dress when the next tailor messes this up."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The thing that bothered me most was not even the discrepancy in price, nor the rush to take out the pins as soon as I was hesitant, it was how they treated me once they thought I couldn't afford it. I think that speaks volumes about the type of people you will be dealing with here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm actually a high income earner, but they don't need to know that. They decided to judge me for not wanting to pay $200 for a hem. I'll probably never come back, and it makes me really sad that people still treat others like this for this reason. read more

Complete deception comes to mind when describing European Tailoring's "client servicing". My first experience, which occurred couple months ago, was relatively pleasant. The owners Nick and Terry fitted several oversized blazers and pants to my satisfaction. The finished quality was better than standard, and the owners showered me with flattery as I wore the fitted items. I happily paid a small premium for their work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, I recently experienced an appalling and shocking "slap-in-the-face" response when I went back to get three pairs of pants (two jeans and one dress pants) tailored.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I needed the job to be completed within several days, and I told Nick I was willing to pay a premium for this rush order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I provided my credit card and barely glanced at the receipt, as I was in a hurry. They finished the job on time with similar results in terms of quality. My unbelievable, mind-blowing alarm went off when I saw the amount they charged me for the job when I reviewed my credit card statement. I realized they charged me $735 (approximately 300% the total purchase price of the three items) for this relatively simple job!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I thought this may have been an innocent mistake, so I left the owners a voicemail to clarify the amount they charged. The owners' true characteristics surfaced when Nick confirmed that the amount was right, as he tried to justify it by saying that he could provide itemized statements for this simple job.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My mind went numb, as I could not believe he tried to pull this scam (probably unaware that I am a professional investor and thoroughly know how to analyze financial statements). I decided not to waste my time to ask for this itemized statement that can be easily manipulated. Instead, here I am writing this raving review about my experience dealing with European Tailoring. For those of you who would like to avoid a similar and untrustworthy experience, I highly recommend driving to Better Fit Alterations, which had recently moved to 18218 McDurmott - Suite H in Irvine (which is not far from the South Coast area). Their phone number is (714) 568-8855. I would have gone to this tailor in the first place, but they had moved to the location above from the prior location that I had previously visited. As I mentioned, I was in a rush at the time and, unfortunately, did not take time to search for this preferred tailor. The owner and employees at Better Fit Alterations are pleasant to work with, and their quality merits two thumbs up as I am always happy with their results that far surpasses what they charge for their work. European tailoring does a perfect job. I have gone to them over a decade. I would only trust them with my high-end clothing, such as Gucci, Loro Piana etc. They recently saved my wedding day. I needed my wedding dress shortened and figured it was just the hem... my gut told me to go to European Tailoring. I should've listened to my gut. The hem was done completely uneven by the local tailor Sholay, who is a master at her craft, took to heart trying to save my dress. I brought it Friday afternoon and they called me Saturday early afternoon to try it on. I was getting married on Monday. It was perfect. I am so grateful, but still regret not having gone to them originally. I would only recommend European Tailoring, especially if it's a special and difficult garment that needs to be tailored. What a great mistake that was. When I took it to European tailoring, I was told that the hemming was completely, and even which could easily be seen. I had tailoring for 2 dress shirts done here. They hemmed them extremely short and incorrectly and tried putting the blame on me. Although they purchased the same shirts again for me, they refused to do any tailoring to the new items and still charged me for the initial job ($110 per shirt). This process took over 3 months. For a place that charges ridiculous prices, you would expect a return of good tailor work and SERVICE, however that is not the case. After looking through yelp reviews, it is clear that the owners have an issue of taking accountability for mistakes. If you are an anxious bride (like I am), I would maybe avoid this tailor. I shed a few pounds since ordering my dress and took her here hoping they could help me tailor it perfectly to my body now. She initially told me it was not possible and that something was "wrong with the dress." Then after looking at it more said that she could, at best, "try and make it happen but that it would change the dress from how it is intended to look" and said it would just look "okay." I was close to tears as this is my WEDDING dress and this is surely not what a bride wants to hear nearly 50 days away from the big day. I left feeling disheartened and questioning if I even liked my dress to begin with. It is extremely important to leave your dress someplace you are 100% confident the job will be done correctly and have no stress whatsoever. This place is a staple. My first experience was circa 2008. I needed a few pieces tailored (Canada Goose, Wool Coat, Invisible Hemming). They're able to custom fit your clothing with the same stitching as the brand. Most clothing off the rack is not fitted to your frame, they can adjust everything, but at a price. For reference their clientele comes from SCP, their standards are impeccable so you need to be willing to pay for the service. I would apply 25-30% markup to account for tailoring designer RTW. I'm consistently happy and my expectations are met. If you love your clothes but it doesn't fit quite right, highly recommended. read more

I have been coming here for years and that one in a life time event came. I needed my wedding gown completely reconstructed. The work needed was not terribly complex: I had the gown shortened up and the whole upper bodice taken in, and I had padded cups sewn in as the plunging, sheer laced-lined back made it virtually impossible to wear any kind of bra. I brought them a suit in that I had ordered from a Groupon (big mistake #1) because I work right next door. Mistake #2, I didn't know what alterations should cost so I just accepted what the owner Nick told me. The work was done pretty well and quickly. When I bought my next suit (a fine Italian Zegna one,) the alterations were much less expensive leaving a bad taste in my mouth (subsidized by 3day suit broker, probably.) When I asked Nick about this 10X discrepancy ($40 for full alterations versus $400 at European Tailoring) Nick got annoyed and just said "That's what I charge." I never asked him for money but he got very defensive. That makes me wonder how easy it would be to ask for a "money-back guarantee" that he boasts about before the hard sale is closed. In fairness, I informed him that I was going to write a Yelp review and he replied, "Go ahead!" and hung up on me. In summary, if you want to overpay to have something altered, then this is the place for you. The tailoring work by 3day Suit Broker was way better, by the way. My European Tailored suit had a long, uncut string falling out of the inside pocket. When I commented that I felt the pants were too tight, Nick replied "that's how they're wearing it. It looks perfect." I literally can't put anything in my front pockets because I'm afraid the pants will split. read more
