He fixes English tall boots! I've not found many places that other horse people recommend for getting their boots fixed, but Anthony's has come through for me a couple times. They've replaced zippers, zipper keepers, claves, and re-stitched many places in my boots helping me double their life. Minus one star because the repair took longer than expected and communication wasn't clear about that. The quality off work will keep me coming back though. read more

I dropped the shoes off on March 6. I went to pick them up on March 14. I took the shoes back into the store because I had noticed a couple of defects on the soul guard. The worker smooth it out. I didn't notice the nick that was on the shoe so I reached back out to the store. They told me to bring the shoe back. I brought the shoe back and picked it up a week later they filled the nick in and tried to touch up the sole guard. I still was not satisfied with the craftsmanship. I reached out to the owner, he didn't call me back so I reached out to him again. He said he will talk to the gentleman that worked on my shoe. I told him I was still dissatisfied and really want my money for the shoes so I can try and buy some more. The owner never called me back. I reached back out yesterday 4/2/26, owner wasn't present, waited for him to call me back. I did check email and his reply was in my SPAM mail. At this point I want my money for my shoe plus the cost for the sole guard. Received a phone call today 4/6 and was told they would give me $500 store credit or $200 because shoe was wearable. After saying I'll let attorney handle received a call back to give me the $500. Take a look at the quality Poor communication!!! Owner failed to apologize for damaged shoe. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I dropped off my Wife's SAS Sandals to have the elastic repaired and have them dyed to refresh them. I had to pay in full in advance, was told they would be ready in eight days. Eight days later we went to pick them up. They weren't ready, 2:25 pm he say " I'm so sorry come back in 30 minutes and they will be done." We come back at 3:12 pm, they are closed! Did he call and say I'm closing they are done? No he did not. While we were at the door which was locked the open sign was on and the door was locked. I called the number voice mail full and closed on Sunday. 52 miles round trip. Went back Monday, we're the Sandals done? Sorta, they had repaired the elastic but did not dye them black. Polished them black. The guy behind the counter was rude and unapologetic. He claimed he had waited but that was a lie. I knocked and tried to call. $47 a total rip off. The quality of work at this business is subpar, especially considering the exorbitant prices they charge. When I approached an employee named "Junior" to discuss the poor repair of my navy blue shoes, he became aggressive immediately. I had brought in a pair of shoes with the elastic that needed to be shortened slightly, requiring trimming and re-stitching. It was a simple job, but they charged me an exorbitant $27 for it. I should have walked out then and there, but I decided to pay the amount to get it done. The repair was done poorly. They cut the elastic without straight lines and used white thread to stitch it back on, despite the fact that all the stitching on the shoes was in navy blue. They were too lazy to change the thread color before sewing. To make matters worse, they tried to cover up the white thread by dyeing it blue, which resulted in spots of dye that clearly stood out from the rest of the shoe's color. I had specifically asked them to fix the elastic, not to dye my shoes! The aggressive employee who confronted me before I could fully discuss the issues with the repair refused to accept any responsibility for the poor job done. He started yelling at me, and it was then I realized that the discussion was pointless. I asked for a refund, but he refused, stating, "No," that "a job was done." Oh yeah, someone did a job alright on the shoes--a terrible slipshod job! But he seemed to think that payment didn't matter if it was done well or not, just as long as someone put their hands on the shoes and did something. When I explained that the repair was not done correctly or professionally, he brushed it off, saying that it didn't matter. He seemed to be more concerned with the fact that the job was done than with the quality of the work. Fortunately, another employee intervened and processed a refund while the aggressive employee continued to yell at me. I requested the owner's name and phone number, but no one provided it. I suppose the owner is aware of his company's poor work ethic and doesn't want to receive calls from angry customers. I'm certain that my shoes weren't finished when I entered the store to pick them up. When I presented my receipt, the employee disappeared for about 15 minutes, prolonging my wait beyond what I would expect for a normal pickup. I believe they didn't want to deal with a customer whose shoes weren't ready when they were promised and quickly attempted to repair them while I was left waiting for an extended period. I wish I had read reviews on this company before doing business with them. It's evident that they provide subpar work and refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes. Instead, they resort to intimidating customers and making them feel like the problem is their own. The aggressive employee even began calling me derogatory names from the back room. It's unbelievable how this company manages to maintain an overall average rating of 2.5 stars. Find another shoe repair company that has the experienced craftsmanship for these goods. I've been here a few times and had a fine experience, but unfortunately my last experience was so bad I will not be returning. Junior gave some of the worst customer experience I've ever encountered. Repair wasn't done even three days after promised (no call to notify me), they couldn't give me a refund when I came to pick up the luggage, and then Junior gave me so much attitude and tried to blame me for the terrible experience. I don't know what happened to my 25+ year go-to location for shoe repairs. The prior ownership built their reputation on great workmanship with fair pricing. Add their convenient Carmel Mtn. location that's within 2 blocks of every retailer of significance and I'd continue being their loyal customer for the next 25. Then the business was sold a few years ago and their 2 most important assets changed...for the worse. Prices have increased 50% across the board, and workmanship has noticeably declined. The worst part is the new staff sees no issue with price gouging or the long-term consequences of losing their hard-earned customer base that took decades to build. If you have no other option for repairs then by all means use Anthony's. Just suck it up while getting over-charged because that's business as normal for them now. Where 3 years ago $25 would've easily covered half-heel, rubber inserts on 1 pair of regular, men's shoes it's now $48! Good luck to you boys. Another customer never to return. read more

Go somewhere else. The service is terrible and you pay upfront for most services you need with no guarantee of quality, only "we will try to clean/repair it." Unfriendly as though they don't need your business or that you have any alternative. I brought a purse in that need reviving and was treated with indifference. After leaving it there two weeks with no word from them or reply after two calls, I went in to see my poor, sad purse sitting on their counter with a bunch of dirty shoes. When I asked about it they said they couldn't do anything and waved me off to take my purse, like I was riff-raff to them. Initially looked promising, my request was to just reglue the top part of my shoe to the bottom sole. Really simple glue fix. Firstly the service took forever, approx 2-3 weeks. I never got the call back to pick up the shoe so I ended up getting it a whole month after. More importantly the glue job was terrible, my shoe is exactly the same condition as when I initially gave it to them. I have only had my Birkenstocks repaired twice by them and both times the quality was outstanding. When I first bought my Birkenstocks, the soles wore down within a year but every time I get them serviced at Anthony's shoe repair, they last me two or three years! Left to do a general search and Anthony's was the first to pop up. Boy did I luck out! After a determined search to find they're location, which was sort of difficult at first, perseverance and a phone call with pleasant and patient understanding on the part of the employee paid off! I came to meet Junior. He repaired my prized Keen sandals lickety-split. Upon that capable outstanding job, I brought in a couple pairs of Hoka brand backup work shoes with different issues. I'm sorry I didn't do before/after pics but had ONE of my Ugg boots get accidentally saturated with some lawn fertilizer and let it dry on its own (as per the website) and hope for the best. Clearly, however, there was a mismatch and Anthony's was the only place near me advertising the means to assist. Dropped it off with them for about a week and got them still wet but was told to let them dry and if uneven just bring them back. I have Gone to Anthony's Shoe Repair in Del Mar and Solana Beach. This is the first time I tried the one in Carmel mountain. .I dropped off my boots. They needed heels cost me $37 to get a pair of heels. They said pick them up Wednesday . There was a sign that said after 4:00. I missed seeing the sign . I went in Thursday morning 9 o'clock I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up . The man walked i in the back for a 5 the minutes and then he brought out my boots and they smelled like glue so of course I put them in my car and it smelt like glue, when you have a pick up on Wednesday, they don't start it until Wednesday morning. which is she they smelt like glue. I had an awful experience; I wish I had seen all of the reviews first. Dropped off expensive Frye boots. The left was entirely an obvious issue, the right was just starting to get bad. I paid $18 in advance to have the heel fixed with new rubber - assuming 2 boots get fixed. It pissed me off that after payment, the pick-up was 8 days following, but I shoved that down. I mean I own other shoes so I moved on. When I showed up on the 8th day at the exact time on the ticket, I could see in his face and then heard them doing the work while I sat and waited for ANOTHER 20 minutes. He handed me 2 boots, you know as in the pair together. However, only 1 heel had a new bottom plus THAT left heel DID NOT MATCH the right one, he didn't fix the right. I was extremely frustrated and expressed the issue. He said I only paid for 1 and he would be happy to do the other for another $18. To keep level headed I decided, No thank you and left. He told me to come back after 4:00 pm. I ask him if they are ready now but he would not check. I had to wait 15 minutes just to get that answer. I came back at 5:00 pm and he told me the shoes weren't ready but I need them for event at 6:00 pm. He told me he could repair them in about 15 minutes which I did not find acceptable.
