I have a leg disease that makes my legs swell a lot. I don't fit in normal shoes, so I brought them to Aaron and he did an amazing job. He added leather and laces on the back so they are adjustable and fit me like a glove no matter how much my legs swell. He even saw me struggling to zip them up and put on a zipper extension. He was the sweetest guy, wished me a happy birthday, and did SUCH a great job. He got them done way faster than other places so I would have them for my birthday, and worked on his day off to get them done for me. FANTASTIC cobbler!!!!!!!!! I cannot recommend him enough!!!!!!! I took a pair of shoes in for repair. They were special orthotics that needed new soles. I was quoted $125.00 and a weeks time. 4 days later I received a call stating that they had made a mistake and it was going to be $150.00. I asked about putting a better gripping sole on the bottom and they said yes and the total cost would now be $200.00. After not hearing anything for two weeks I went in. My shoes were ready. She told me that it a lot of work and now the cost was $395.00! I only paid $400.00 when these shoes were originally made and new! She became VERY angry and arguing and would NOT give me my shoes! Finally she said she would take $20.00 off. After charging my credit card $375.00 she finally gave me my shoes. This was a blatant act of taking E off the disabled. Originally the repair was supposed to be 1.5 weeks, but turned into just shy of four. A pair of slippers had blown a seam and wanted to get some fresh heels to get me through another 2 years of wear. Full leather. Just after the first few cold days in San Diego I needed slippers and these were busted, so I dropped 'em off and had to go to Walmart to grab the $10 pair to get me through. I called Doart after the second week since their protocols are to call YOU when ready. The lady that answered the phone took my information and ticket number. She disappeared for a minute or two to find the order. She came back on the phone and said they would "definitely be done by Tuesday" of the following week. I was in the area for another errand on Wednesday of that week, and I dropped in to find that the order was nowhere to be found. Apologizing, the lady said they will be a priority and to "wait until I call". I waited another couple of days and she had called later that Friday. I returned on Tuesday the following week when I was again in town running more errands. This time the slippers were finished and she had deducted $5 for my troubles. She also didn't polish the leather up as she had promised. Kind of disappointed. We had brought other leather items here for repair in the past and I don't remember having any problems. Took my Hoka running shoes in after reading the good reviews on Yelp and lucky for me they are very close to my home. I wasn't sure if they could fix my shoes because it was the heel material that got torn up. However, they said no problem. I left my shoes and it was about a two and a half week turnaround time but the quality of work was great. They replaced the cheap thin material lining with really nice leather. My heels are now so happy and no more cuts! Cost for reference was $50. which is cheaper than buying a new pair of Hoka runners (at nearly $200) so I feel it was a worthwhile investment since these are not that old. read more

Genuine quality customer service seems to be a dying art, but I have to say my experience with Doart Shoe Repair was top notch and maybe the best ever. My podiatrist retired and with him the ability to get the heels of my insoles modified. I left my old insoles as a template and they were able to add a piece to the heel with the same measurements. They finished them within a few days and even made adjustments to make them fit better. I ended up not being able to wear them because the material was more bouncy then my original pair, but they worked with me and were both patient and accommodating throughout the process. I knew it was a risk going into it since it was a different material being used, but it was worth trying. The store itself although small has a lot to offer in accessories, hats, scarves, insoles, shoe polishes, some really awesome shoes including Birkenstocks and I think they even have some sunglasses and other small items for sale. Plus super friendly and helpful customer service. I highly recommend stopping by even if you don't need anything repaired. read more

Well he wasn't lying I clearly had some beat up shoes and I love my Chelsea boots I thought they were done for until I took it over to them and they are absolutely crushed the repairs . Had a pairs of shoes I'd like to make forever options, and after reading reviews I was hyped to try Doart's out. Took them in and discussed necessary issues and I left inadvertently without a quote, but kinda didn't care because they were so very loved. The repair rendered was fairly simple and straightforward but the price seemed out of whack. $50+ to put a tap on the heel and glue down a new insole. The shoes were not even polished when I received them back. I have had Cobler experiences in the past where I was in awe receiving them back at new looking they had made the shoes look. These guys are the best! They put this leather patch on the back of four pairs of my boots the basically protects the heel area of the inside of the shoe.Take my word for it it's worth the money!! They ruined a pair of $200 brooks brothers leather boat shoes. I dropped them off and asked that they just touch them up with no time constraints and they said they'd call in 2 weeks. No call. I picked them up a while later and when I looked at them in the store it looks like they literally just dunked them in white paint and then did a terrible job of wiping the paint off of the non white parts. The white paint is stuck in what used to be shiny brass vents and stained the edges of brown leather. They even sloppily got the paint all over the rubber sole. The stitching now looks like shit and my once favorite shoes look like garbage. She argued with me that that's all normal and tried to charge me $60. I ended up paying $30 but in all honesty should have paid nothing and they should have offered to replace them. read more

Bless this place. Hours are a little inconvenient if you're not near Escondido, but this is a superb shop. I had a pair of wedges with a damaged zipper and partially torn section in the back thanks to my puppy, and I went to two other places that said they couldn't fix it. I was in distraught, these wedges were my babies. A quick yelp search lead me to this place and I went to drop off my cherished wedges. The lady up front was very nice and said this can be fixed, no problem! Price for the fix was ~$32 which I paid up front (I recommend doing this) and I don't know if that's a bargain or not, since I haven't been to a cobbler's in years. Two and a half weeks later I got my wedges back and I've never been more ecstatic. Great job, the craftsmanship is incredible, and this shop is more than just a stop and shine. My babies are now safe in their cupboard. In spirit this might be a 4-4.5 star because she told me it's was a week for the job, but instead it took 2 and a half weeks. But I don't care, my repaired wedge looks great and I'm fine with the results. This is one cobbler to keep for all your shoe needs. read more

I'm truly not one to negatively review a small business as I prefer small businesses and like to support local however, there's always an exception. We came here to resole (half sole) a pair of faux leather boots and picked this places based on the great reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was awful. When we brought the ankle boots in, they said it would take 1-2 weeks and charged $90! They required payment upfront in addition to a request for a tip... which I tipped rather generously. Just figured this was the going rate these days. After 2 weeks (and a check in phone call to get a status update), they told us they couldn't find the boots but would keep looking and call us back. Nothing for another week. After the 4th week, I finally went into the shop with my receipt to simply ask for my boots back and get a refund since there had been no work done on them. They spent 30 minutes looking for the boots and finally found them. They offered the $90 refund BUT WANTED TO KEEP THE TIP! Outrageous. Why would anyone expect a tip based on this experience, AND with no service having been rendered? They finally agreed to a full refund + the tip. I would caution anyone coming here, and reconsider payment and tipping upfront. read more

$18 dollars to have the straps of my wedges glued back into place........ I'm not sure if this is pricey or cheap since I've never had to have shoes repaired. Seems a bit much but I guess it's also labor as well. Solid 3 for now. The straps tore out of both soles of my wedges while I was walking and Doart glued them back in. I've worn them twice since then, so far so good. So we'll see! Friendly service and it was finished in four days since I wasn't in a hurry to have them done soon. I used Doart over the summer to repair some sandals and they were great. I dropped off a pair of dress shoes two weeks before Thanksgiving and they were supposed to be ready on November 30. I waited until December 1st and when I arrived at the shop they could not find my shoes and the work was not completed. Lucia told me she would have them done by the next day at 3:00 pm. When I arrived at 3:30 the next day my shoes were still not done. I took my shoes and left and WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN.
