Disappointed to say the least. Wanted to find a local climbing shoe resole shop to support local business. This doesn't cut it, better off sending it out. I showed my friends at the gym and they concluded the same right away, poor job. Last time I had sent my shoes out to a place in Tustin (Yosemite Bum), the pair came back looking just like new. The shoes I received from Foot Depot look sloppily done and rough. The rubber doesn't come close to matching the previous rubber at all nor the style of shoe. Maybe if this was a cheaper option, it would be ok but I paid more than I would have sending it out for a worse job. The only thing that was good was it was a quick turnaround which turns out didn't make up for the rest of the work. TLDR: send your climbing shoes out to resole even if it'll take longer to get them back. This wasn't worth it on so many levels. read more

Very overpriced for the "quality" of work provided. The photos speak for themselves. For $74, my wife's $400 Michael Kors bag was repaired with crooked, weak stitching. My leather backpack got two incomplete, uneven stitches on an interior pocket. I thought about returning, but I did not trust them to fix it without causing additional damage. Poor quality workmanship. Really wanted to like this shop as the owner seems kind, but i can't stand behind his work as i had my cowboy boots resoled there and the soles only lasted me 4 months before wearing through, not to mention the insoles fell apart within days of recieving my boots back. I had a shoe repair person in Menifee that was amazing-he repaired as set of Birkenstocks for my previously which then lasted 5 years. But I moved to this area so I thought it would be good to try someone close by. As soon as I got home, I realized that the footbed was not properly repaired and a part was peeling up. Within 4 months of very careful normal wear, they were falling apart completely. I called to see if he would be wiling to do something for me since I spent more than the cost of a new pair just four months ago, but, he was immediately defensive and rude, and accused me of the shoes falling apart because I must have "abused them"-without even having seeing them, and refused to look at pictures too. STAY CLEAR!!! I wish I could say good things. I've used this cobbler 3 times and each time you cannot guarantee that you will get your shoes back in the condition you drop them off. On three separate occasions I've had expensive shoes damaged and the response is " I'm doing the best I can and if you left your car at a dealership and they damaged it they would just be able to fix it" Guess what you cannot fix a cut into $400 satin shoes and you cannot fix a cut into patent leather $500 boots I wish there was another place i could use now I'm stuck with no place as I was basically told I should not expect to get my shoes back. 23 YEARS of wearing hard plastic podiatrist made orthotic inserts. 23 years of discomfort. 23 years of continued spraining of my right ankle. I went in to see Jim, and he took one look at my inserts (which have an insole like covering with full feet impressions) and he gave a long scientific assessment of everything that's wrong with how I walk and with my orthotic inserts. He also went on to show me how the orthotics themselves were contributing to my problems and how my feet and my body were compensating. The guy is like ChatGPT for feet. He custom made a set of orthotics for me that are comfortable, keep my feet more stable and upright, and have solved my biometric issues. I WISH I would have seen him 23 years ago. All that for $109? What a bargain. It's comfortable to walk again. For the people that left 1 star reviews, I read them all. Listen, this guy is more of a Mr. Spock type personality. He's like a data scientist. If you want someone who is warm and bubbly and engaging while working on your feet, go get a pedicure. Jim sees people who walk in as a scientific problem that he needs to solve, and he goes into that mode. Some people are like that. They're usually brilliant. If it rubs you the wrong way, I can refer you to all the podiatrists that made me expensive, hard, uncomfortable, and problem inducing orthotic inserts. I tend to wear things until they die. Clothes, shoes, whatever. Not a big shopper. I regularly rotate a couple pairs of shoes for work and never realized I had worn them so long, I developed a hole in the sole of the shoe. Seemed like a little extra air conditioning wouldn't hurt, but on the few rainy days here in So Cal, not such a good thing. Normally you'd likely just throw them out and grab a new pair of shoes. But these had character and were still in great condition, other than the sole, I wanted to resuscitate them and bring them back to life. Glad I found Foot Depot to help solve this problem. During the current Covid situation, they limit entrance and numbers into their shop. Upon entrance they quickly take your temperature with a forehead scanner and masks/ face coverings must be worn. They offered a comfortable and moderate cost replacement with was totally fine. Turnaround was just a couple days and overall service was fast and personable. I had 4 pairs of dress shoes I rotate daily and wanted to see if they could be restored to life before I invested in a new pair. I dropped them off late on a Thursday night and the Owner, Jim, had them ready for me on Monday. They looked as good as new and Jim apologized he couldn't have done better on the sneaker sole on one pair. Unfortunately, the outside and heel of my boots were repaired perfectly but the inside lost its lamination or whatever it's called. The inside was worn through to the cloth and had a big tear. He glued it for me but said the inside was that way when I came in, which it wasn't. It was also expensive--45 for a heel repair and polish. Sad, I want to support local encinitas businesses. Superb cobbler! I've never been here, but I had an old pair of cowboy boots with very worn soles that I had written off, but hung onto because they had sentimental value. My friend's wife Katie swore she knew someone who could bring them back to life, so I gave her my boots to bring here to Jim. When I got them back, the soles had been replaced with some very nice Vibram soles which in my mind are the best soles available for a working boot (I have other cowboy boots as well as combat boots with Vibram soles). In addition to the new soles I'm pretty sure he also polished them up because despite all the wear, they look really good. So I am having excruciating foot pain in my number 2, 3 and 4 toes and thought I had neuropathy. I went to a chiropractor named Synergy Integrated Dr. Lim on Mission in Escondido. He quoted me $9,000 for home treatments, light therapy, and some kind of a TENS unit. We highly recommend Foot Depot in Encinitas for orthotics. Got a pair for myself and for our boys who were having growth related knee and heel pain and they work great! The owner is super knowledgeable and will help you find the right orthotics for your needs. We got the 'Kneed to Run' and 'Kneed to Be' orthotics. Jim has been working on my shoes for more than 10 years, from minor repairs of loose stitching, to re-soles, reconditioning, and of course, for much needed inserts. On my Ferragamo's (Master Loafer) Jim replaced the soles with an equivalent rubber sole and heel, making them look like the original, and, leaving the Ferragamo name visible on the bottom -- a nice touch.
