One strap was torn, the other was frayed and they were heavily worn in general. The strap repair is almost invisible because Anthony's matched the leather and stitching so well. The woman with black hair came out from the rear of the shop disturbed I interrupted her from whatever it was she was doing in the back. She quoted $29 to glue Mexican flip flop sandals and she voluntarily said there was no guarantee on the service performed. She was definitely chasing me away and it worked! Anthony's has been a solid shoe repair business and I have supported them for many years. All of the work that I have done is top notch. I attempted to bring some mens shoes in and I waited outside because a woman wearing a mask was in the small store. I did not want her to be uncomfortable with a maskless customer in her vicinity. The store hours on the door stated that the closing time was 6:00 and she left at 5 so I walked in and was denied service. They directed me to a piece of paper that had shorter business hours, yet the permanent sign was much more visible. The man at the counter clearly saw me waiting before closing time and did not spend 2 minutes to accept my shoe dropoff. Very unfriendly, extremely "overpriced" and totally deceptive. I left a more complete review with their sister company in Carmel Mnt. location. This time I had unfortunately went to this location and they charged me $35.95 +tax for the tiny elastics that hold the buckle on women's heeled sandals. (While another shoe repair charged me only $15. for the same type repair! When I picked the shoes up and asked if they thought I was "over charged", the arrogant young man's response was "I charge $15. just for "looking" and $30. for the tiny elastics!! This shop is clearly a rip off, and while being present as they quoted other present customers, I was amazed at their prices and poor attitude. But they are located in a wealthy neighborhood, so I must assume that some people may not be aware of fair pricing . I usually submit "good" reviews, but this business was negative in so many respects, I had no other choice, but to be forthright. read more

Should have read and believed the reviews before I dropped off and paid in advance. This place is the worst and they think it's funny. Trust me, stay away from this business. Brought in an expensive leather belt with a missing buckle (hardware) to be replaced with a new one on July 24th. Paid $35 for a buckle in advance and asked for a gold buckle. Receipt said to pick up on July 31st. It wasn't ready. Waited another week and picked it up on August 6th. The kid handing it to me started smirking when I asked why they replaced the buckle with a clearly extremely used/scratched and chipped silver one instead of a brand new one that I paid $35 for. He said, we didn't have one and would have had to order it for you special...I said why didn't you do that vs using a random old junky one from your donation pile? He smiled and said they didn't want to order one but could try again if I insisted on a new one that isn't scratched...um that's what I paid you for and ordered. He just kept smiling and laughing. I immediately knew I could not keep trying to make this business honor what I paid for. And so I took the belt and said "clearly you don't ever want my business again" and walked out as he kept on smiling. Worst experience ever. Seriously awful. Not worth it. What a nightmare to sum up my entire experience here! Brought my Valnetino ahoes here and they have me the run around for 2 MONTHS!!! Every promising me that it will be done and every time I came my shoe wasn't done. The son in the back said he'll call and text never heard from them. Came today as he said it will be done and it still wasn't done. I got my shoe back and it's a whole different color then the original and there's marks and scratches all over it. They will be hearing from my lawyer, I see all these bad reviews now wish I saw them before, there in business to disappoint and ruining people's belongings. Anthony's is the only shoe repair store in Carmel Valley because the one by Pavilions closed down. I have come here many times since living in the area for 25 years. Each and every time there are one or two people in front of me and it seems to take ages to get to the front of the line. They are very unfriendly and bordering on rude to their customers, and they make it seem almost like it's an inconvenience that you are there. Their prices are very high, you have to pay upfront and your shoe, bag or whatever item you bring in will be ready in a week to 10 days later. Expect to wait another 20-30 minutes for them to acknowledge you and then go find your item in their very disorganized shelves. But I keep coming back every so often because it's convenient and they do an OK job. read more

Wtf?!?! My husband took an expensive Prada belt here to have fixed. The seam was coming undone but otherwise looked great. He went to pick it up when they said it would be done and the woman told him they needed another 30 minutes. Huh? So basically they didn't touch it till he got there. So long story short....they glued the belt instead of stitching it and got the glue all over it!!!its now ruined. He would look like an ass wearing that belt with a nice suit. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me for allowing you to decimate the tassels on my favorite Cole Haan loafers! A very expensive shoe repair shop for absolutely subpar craftsmanship. Should known from my previous experience when they "repaired" my husband's shoes. His shoes at least looked repaired but still fell apart after two wearings. I brought my loafers in because the glue had come undone on the patent leather tassels on one loafer. This didn't seem like a very difficult repair yet they charged me just under $12 and asked for almost a week to wait. When I picked them up I found the tassels were not fixed, they still unglued and unravelled further. The girl behind the counter expected me to take them saying "the glue came undone again". Seriously?! I asked her to have them reglue the tassels and and after consulting with someone in the back, said they'd reglue them but would also have to put a stitch in them. Sounded reasonable as long as they made them match on the other shoe. Not only did they muck up the job and try to conceal the mess with nonmatching leather polish (on patten leather) they broke a tassel on the other shoe when placing the stitch through. So now it's ruined too. No wonder they insist on payment upfront. There is no way I would have paid for this botch job and if this was my business I would be embarrassed and would do everything in my power to make things right with my customers. Heed my warning, this place is far overpriced and below subpar for the quality and service. read more

If I could give a ZERO I would!! So unbelievably upset. I brought in my AUTHENTIC Louboutin heals. Needed repainting on the foot portion, some patch placed on and the heal tops replaced and painted. What was done was the crappiest job ever!!! Ruined my shoes completely, and worst the man in the store acted as if it was not a big deal. My $800 shoes are worthless..I explained that now the shoes look like knock offs from the repair, and he just didn't get it. Brought my son's shoe because the shoe's fabric was separating from the rubber. He has minimal wear on the soles so I figured it was worth it to get it fixed for $20 even though the shoes were $40 new. The man behind the counter tells me the shoes will be ready in a week and so I come back the following week to pick it up and i realized they didn't even touch the shoes. There was another irate customer ahead of me working on a separate issue with the shop (they misplaced her husband's shoes and they couldn't find it) and the lady at the counter tells me to wait 5 minutes which turned out to be 20 minutes and I come to find out that the wait time was because they pulling up my son's shoes to work on it. That fine except for the really bad job they did on it. The stitching on the shoes were so bad. It's supposed to be stitched like a straight line but it looks like a kindergartener sewed it. It's fine since it's kids shoes but seriously does not look like a professional job and I can't believe I paid $20 for it. read more

I do not ususally post on any social media sites. If they had a zero, instead of a 1-5 star rating, I would rate this business a ZERO. I needed 2 pair of shoes cleaned. The first pair had a medium sized stain on 1 (white) shoe. I went to pick them up and (1) shoe is now blue. The second pair of shoes were dirty and needed to be cleaned (no permanent stains), both pair of shoes looked like they were never cleaned and the white trim is now dark brown. Whats worse is...the guy behind the counter argued with me and stated I brought them in this condition. All I needed was my shoes to be cleaned. I would suggest if you bring your shoes here for any type of services to take a picture before. Also, I have a prepaid ticket stating they wouild be ready on last Saturday; they weren't ready. I had to call in this morning to make sure they were ready so I wouldnt make another unnecessary trip. Awful!!!!!!! I will NEVER use this place of business again. read more
