I love that they have many of the pretty things I've seen online, especially petite dresses, compared to other stores I've been to. Unfortunately, their customer service was poor except for a lady that I think works in the fitting room or helps to put back the clothes around the store; I know I arrive at the store at 7:40 p.m., and the fitting rooms close 15 minutes before that. So I had to shop several dresses and the people at the register were not happy despite the fact that even help them to take out the hangers. Anyway I expected at least an apology that fitting rooms close early but it was okey for me to shop all the dress I wanted to try and of course that I had to return since I only kept one. I. Return all the dress I didn't want at the Reston location were all the employees are so nice and I apologize and explain them the reason of the huge return I did. I only kept one dress exactly the one I saw online. I am so glad I went to the store because it runs large, I am normally a S petite but the XS Petite fitted perfect for me the XXS petite was to small. I had so many compliments about my dress at the two parties I attended that day. read more

If you've been inside an Anthropologie before, this one is the same, but bigger. There are three floors to this one on M Street in D.C.'s Georgetown. Clothes and candles can be found on all three floors, but the home section is on the bottom floor with living rooms and dining rooms set up convincing you to buy a pillow. There's also a small kids section on the bottom floor too. One fun fact about Anthropologie is that the founders give a lot of their money away to causes like fighting modern-day slavery and human trafficking. read more

This is the nicest Anthropologie I have ever been to. It has three entire floors of stuff and the selection is fantastic. If you are rich AF you can probably have a great time here. I, on the other hand, am not financially capable of dropping fat stacks on everything in this store, even though I want to. Really love their home section and that merchandise tends to be a little bit more reasonably priced. Honestly though, I think I could probably just sit in this store and bask in their delicious-smelling candles for an afternoon, not buy anything, and be totally content. read more

The two spots I love the most is their clean beauty section which allows me to discover new indie health and wellness brands that have stepped up my self care game ten fold. They also have the BIGGEST sale section out of all the Anthropologies out there! It's a clutch day when you walk in and they are doing a take an extra 40% off everything on sale. I've found some really interesting trinkets and giftables to make my life just a little bit more lovely! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. My friend had clothes in her hand, and we were looking around upstairs for a while and a male worker came over and took the clothes from my friend and brought them to the front register as if he thought she was going to steal them or something. I've read other reviews, and apparently this is a huge problem with staff making customers feel like thieves. This is not okay. The staff were horrible, terrible customer service. I don't even know how they got the job, is one of the requirements being a total dick head? We felt like we were being profiled just by the way we look. We were just there shopping for my friend's birthday and very much had the means of buying what we wanted, but after that experience, we don't want any business with them at this location ever again. The staff at the towson anthropology location were total angels, and I was shocked when I came to this location and found the complete opposite. The only reason why I give it one star is because they have a big selection of dresses, tops, shorts, jewelry and shoes. Other than that, customer satisfaction is NOT on their radar. I got there at 6:30 pm on a Sunday when they close at 7 and the music was turned off. I picked 3 things to try on and when I went to the fitting room line at 6:50 pm they said sorry we are closing at 7 and the fitting room is closed only the two people in front of you can go. I said I only have three things and she goes yeah sorry but you can come back tomorrow to try it on and left. I'm like uhhh this is crazy I don't live nearby I'm not coming back just to try on three things and there was no one left in line by 6:51pm. I left the clothes back on the rack and the employee was telling the same thing to two other women who wanted to try things on. The manager came and the employee told her these are the people who are left to try things on and manager said "we close at 7 and I need my team to be out by 7, sorry." I've worked retail before and I can tell that is some straight up dog poop. When a store closes they are not supposed to leave right at closing time unless they don't want to work and I'm guessing that's what's happening in this store. It's shameful, bad business and shows they could really careless about customers. Management needs to change asap. read more

They finally re-opened after a long renovation and I can see where all the effort went! They now have full 3 floors, with the last one serving as a home/design concept store where if you can afford $$$ they wrap your home in a dream. I wandered there for half an hour, wishing I could get lost in this space - everything is just so beautiful, thoughtful, smart, boho 'used'. Too bad lots of small finishing touches and pieces were not for sale, but many seems like a doable DYI project for a day! Lots and lots of inspiration! The clothing floors also went through some changes and they shifted bhldn to the bottom floor and added a whole new wellness section. The layout feels a bit odd with lots of free space, but they are probably still figuring it out. read more

I brought a friend to Anthropology since I am a frequent client and suddenly a manager came and took the four pieces of clothes that she had from her hand, telling her that she was leaving them in the dressing room. The manager didn't even ask nicely. She made my friend feel like she was a thief. It is inappropriate to treat a customer like this. Love the store, hate the staff. It's as if they are taught to avoid customers on the floor.. Usually not an issue as they don't have much back up selections or sizes stashed and they're basically professional shirt folders, but on the rare occassion you do need assistance, good luck with that. Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores for clothing and eclectic home goods. The location in Georgetown is best amongst Reston Town Center and Tysons II. The store is conveniently placed mid M street, surrounded by the best of Georgetown shops. Inside, there are two floors of wonder. New to this location is the Bridal Wear. I am far from becoming a bride, however could not resist gasping over the beautifully simple and elegant pieces on display as pictured. Inside, per Ant's status quo, always smells good due to their candles/lotion/soaps. The staff is friendly but not too pushy. The register is located on the second floor. The prices are not cheap, fell in love with a dress that is 180$, however everything purchased here is unique, a mix of eclectic/new fashion with earthy undertones and good good quality! Always a pleasant experience shopping at this location. The staff is always helpful and friendly and today's visit was just like the last time I was here-a pleasant shopping experience! I even got an extra 15% off one of the items I purchased because it was missing a button. The manager offered it right away when one of the buttons was discovered missing. The store is neatly well kept with many staff available to assist but never pushy. At least 3 of them acknowledged and greeted me, which were top notch service! Perhaps it was Georgetown location and usually the associates are educated or are students in the area which explains the top notch quality of service at this location. read more

This review is for BHLDN. My friend (the bride) and I came on a Saturday afternoon for her appointment. It was the last of the boutiques we'd visit, and I was pleasantly surprised! Prior to the appointment, my friend had received several automated emails detailing the rules of the appointment (no outside drinks, a limit on the number of people you could bring, etc.). Once we walked into the store and told the associate of our appointment, we waited upstairs for a bit until another associate came down. My friend had already picked out a few dresses to try online (which they had ready), but we got a chance to look at the rest of the dresses on the racks and ended up pulling a few more. The mirror area for the brides-to-be was quite small (the smallest of all the boutiques I've been to), only two mirrors, a couch, and a few chairs. There were several other appointments going on at the same time, so it seemed hectic, but somehow it all worked out! (One perk was that it was fun to watch the other brides-to-be try on their dresses). Our appointment went by pretty quickly, but we didn't feel rushed at all. We had plenty of time to take pictures and consider all the options. Our bridal assistant was awesome and so sweet!! All in all, a super fun experience with a great variety of dresses in both style and cost! Definitely glad we came! read more

Went to BHLDN here and had an AMAZING experience. I truly could not recommend it more highly!! Naima was my attendant and she was nothing short of FAB-U-LOUS. she had a great sense for what I liked, did an amazing job pulling dresses that I didn't even think I would look as great in as I did, and was really kind about finding flattering fits that did not showcase parts of my body I wasn't thrilled with. She found tons of accessories that added so much glam and were in my budget. All of this she did after my mother, girls, and I showed up very late for our appointment soaking wet during the deluge that engulfed Georgetown the 30min before my appointment. It was brutal and she was an absolute saint. So why do I love BHLDN? Let me name the ways! 1) Naima. Period. Done. I should stop the review there. 2) Pressure free bridal shopping experience. Never once did I get the "if you don't buy today this dress will turn into a pumpkin!" speech so many shops are fond of. I was given options and full range to think about what worked best for me. That alone made me want to say yes to a BHLDN dress. 3) Beautiful and comfortably private viewing space. I love how the dressing rooms are in the back where you go with the attendant but when you come out you move to another area with private mirrors and seating for your crew. Mini champagnes add to the classiness for everyone. The lightning was very flattering. A bit yellow in photos but Igor over that fast! 4) Ability to take pictures and videos as much as you like. It's mind boggling that so many places don't do it for fear you'll find the dress elsewhere. BHLDN doesn't have that anxiety given many dresses are exclusive and that means you get much needed time to snap shots and think about what you want to come back to, show friends and family, or ultimately buy in store or online. Which brings me to the last point... 5) Options to buy! You can get your dress in shop ordered, ordered from another shop if needed or online. I love that that is possible even though I will be trekking back from NYC to DC to buy just to make sure the Georgetown shop gets my sale. It's just fortunate for me I have family in the area. But really that flexibility is clutch. I would add the affordability of their dresses but I think everyone knows that because that's why most of us end up here. I had a MAGICAL experience and absolutely cannot recommend this BHLDN more. I want to get married again just to go back!! read more

Less than 2 weeks before Christmas, after work shopping time & only 2 working the register- I waited in line for 15 minutes to check out. Once I got to the register, the sales associate couldn't have been ruder. Couldn't have been. Barely acknowledged me, forgot to ask if I'm an anthro member, and no thank you when I completed my purchase. There was a nice sales associate at the entrance of the store upstairs, where was anyone downstairs. Zero customer service not to mention disappointing finds. Reminds me of why I rarely shop in Georgetown. I've had rather better luck at the Chevy Chase location. read more

While I like the particular style that the store markets, I have a huge problem with the fact that it is based on the visual culture of DIY, but with massive mark-ups on the prices. There is this feeling that the clothes they are trying to sell are unique...but just like all of the stuff in every other Anthropologie location around the country. If I want something unique, I will do one of two things: purchase from someone who makes unique, one-of-a-kind clothing items, or make something myself. Oh Anthrolopologie...with your puh-retty dresses and fripperies at slightly painful prices and your pesky corporate affiliation with hardline rightwingers. You always manage to lure me in no matter how hard I resist. Try, try hard to walk past all the pretty displays and plunge right into the basement to the (for an Anthropologie) large sale backroom/area. I love how you really have to search for the sale section. Once you find it, dig in. The sale stuff is helpfully organized by color and separated by tops, pants, dresses, skirts, outerwear, and accessories. Just how well organized it is depends on whether a big sale is going on and how busy they are that week. I've managed to find quite a few things at reasonable prices on the sale racks. However, if you do feel like paying full price or just need something right now, Anthro is a mecca of feminine and slightly quirky clothing, shoes, housewares, and decorative items. Their clothing is usually quite good quality--skirts and dresses are lined and they use natural fibers like super soft cotton, cashmere and wool, and silk. It's a great place to get a dress if you're attending a wedding; you won't look like a bridesmaid and it'll last for several wedding seasons. Besides the clothing, they sometimes have random perfumes, candles, soaps, egg cups, and other bits of prettiness on sale. I've picked up some really nice soaps at Anthro just by hunting through when they have the nonclothing items set out in sales baskets--look in the area by the cash registers downstairs. I do like that they carry some unusual but inexpensive fragrance lines like Tokyomilk, which are well worth a sniff. Plus, they have some Annick Goutal fragrances sort of hidden away in a corner by the stairs on the bottom floor. Find it and give Matin D'Orage a try...I'm still debating whether I need a bottle. They have a great candle selection, too, including Voluspa candles and this mango coconut milk candle that I think is by their house brand is absolutely delicious. The salespeople are always nice, almost a bit too nice. You know they're trained to be super friendly by HQ when they ask for your name in the dressing room and then write it on your door. Oh well, this does mean that they'll happily run out for you to wade through racks and racks to find you that shirt in another size or another color. read more

Review for BHLDN only: I've FINALLY found my wedding dress! After going to about 10 bridal shops, I'm extremely excited to say that I've found the one. BHLDN has very affordable (I spent about 1/5 of my budget for a dress) yet unique wedding dresses. Sydney M. was awesome (the best I've encountered). She pulled the dress I wanted to try on from online and several similar styles. I did not feel any pressure at all and she was extremely patient throughout the whole process! Make sure you make an appointment online at least several weeks in advance and confirm it! I had to make mine about 5 weeks in advance because the slots fill up quick! The accessories are very reasonable as well. I am planning on getting my belt there too! Thank you Sydney and the rest of the BHLDN team =) read more

In DC, however, people are a lot more conservative so you can find awesome stuff on sale. Granted, it ain't cheap on sale either but it is reasonable. You have to look at Anthro sale like any other stores regular prices. By the way, did you know Anthro is run by conservative right-wing "family values" organization? This review is strictly for BHLDN, the bridal department housed within Anthropologie. Throughout my wedding planning process, I often found my way to BHLDN's website, whether to look for inspiration or make purchases. I found the sweetest vow books on the site and drooled over many of the decor items. As a result of my online obsession, I knew I needed to visit the Georgetown Anthro during one of my many dress fittings in DC. After all, only a handful of Anthro's boast a BHLDN department in their brick and mortar locations, and this happens to be one of them. By the time I visited BHLDN I had already purchased my dress and shoes, but I was on a desperate search for a belt. I wanted something simple that wouldn't detract from or clash with my dress top, and I wasn't trying to pay $400 for a simple piece of tulle (and yes, this is how much a piece of fabric can cost from a high-end designer). BHLDN had exactly what I was looking for: a simple ivory sash with no detailing whatsoever. And bonus? It was half off, making it $30. Now that was a no-brainer. It was the perfect pairing for the skirt that marked my end-of-reception outfit change. Not only did I walk away from this visit with a much-desired accessory, but I also scored two mercury glass cake stands for my rehearsal dinner. They were beautiful and way cheaper than many of the stands I had been perusing online. Two big wins for this bride! Perhaps one of the most notable aspects of my entire experience was the sales associate who helped me. She was incredibly helpful, friendly, and didn't seem phased at all by the fact that I wasn't looking to purchase any big-ticket items. As you know if you read my retail reviews, I'm a stickler for customer service, so it was refreshing to work with someone who wasn't just trying to make a sale. She was truly trying to help me find the perfect additions to my wedding celebration. Just a note for any BHLDN website fans out there - the shop only carries a select assortment of items from the site, so if you're looking for something specific, be sure to call the shop in advance to see if they have it. Oh, Anthro, In G'town. I want to love you because I can walk to you from work, and I have had some success in the famed sale room, but you are also a breeding ground for serious attitude. The Good. This is a 2 level store with great visual merchandising. If you can come in during the week, the sale room gets replenished and cleaned up. You can also get a dressing room during the week. The ladies at the register have always been very sweet to me. The Bad That one poor dear soul at the register is working by herself while everyone else on the huge staff is on the floor or in the dressing area. Heaven forbid we allow people to call for back up when the line gets 10 deep. The dressing room staff seems to have been trained in how to be human, but the programing got screwed up. They take your name name and write it on the door and act all girlfriend-y.. then.... I asked for a smaller size in a dress that was obviously falling off of me and the associate told me i should not "try to cram myself into the wrong size". uh, I'm not. And even if I were, you don't say that to a customer. It is impossible to get a dressing room on the weekend. Also, if you have any sale merchandise you want to try on, you will get serious attitude. Not every associate is hell-bent on lowering your self-esteem, but be prepared. If you are not an Anthro die hard, buy the stuff on ebay or get real diy/flea market chic/hand made originals on Etsy. read more

I love the clothing at Anthro. It's interesting, chic, and altho this store is a chain, the items go fast and I think they really limit what they sell so that it isn't super mainstream. The high price probably has to do with this too! ha! Location: M Street, Georgetown near Dean and Deluca area and next to JCrew. Atmosphere: Interesting vintage vibe, pretty, chic, frilly, diy type stuff. Like walking into a collectible shop except this store is a chain. Markets: Women who like anything frilly, cute, fun, flowery, vintage. This store carries clothing, jewelry, accessories, housewares, furniture, rugs, bird cages, metal letters, etc. Price: Medium - High but very good quality in the items they sell. You really do get what you pay for. Set Up: Upon entering from M Street, there are a bunch of connected rooms with clothing throughout the store, cash register on the left side, as you go downstairs there are more cash registers in the center, sale room is on the left side ( very hot in there), and then more clothing, and housewares as you make your way around to the back of the store where the dressing rooms are. There is also a shoe section back there. This is one of the few stores that actually carry shoes. Staff: Very friendly, some are not so helpful since they are young and seem to be self absorbed. For the most part the SA's are helpful. In the dressing room area, they tend to stand around and chat. Parking: Street parking or garage parking connected to this mall. I'm writing this review for BHLDN. It was the first spot I went to try on wedding dresses, and I was really looking forward to it! They had some great looking dresses, for really reasonable prices. Also, just stating the obvious, being that this was the first time I was trying on a wedding dress the appointment felt extra special. When my mom, my maid of honor and I arrived there was a half drunk champagne glass and some empty coffee cups in the three way mirror area. I figured that was just someone celebrating, but also felt like it would have been nice to reset the area before someone new shows up. (I realize the dresses aren't super expensive, but it's still a lot of money.) My biggest complaint though was that I felt really rushed while I was there. My stylist told me that I probably wouldn't have time to try on all the dresses. Of the dresses I liked, I only got to try them on once. She did help me figure out the type of dress I was looking for, which was super helpful. Most of the samples were in pretty good shape, the one I liked the most was "well worn" which didn't even begin to cover what that dress had been through. It wasn't even its original color (and I'm not talking just at the bottom) It had holes. It was hard to get a good vision of what the dress would actually look like. It wasn't one of the more expensive dresses, and I feel like getting a replacement sample would have been helpful. Another ding? When it came time to talk about availability she said that many of the dresses were backordered and might not even be available even if I placed a backorder order. I ended up buying my wedding dress elsewhere. BHLDN gave me a good sense of what shape of dress I wanted, but I did not feel special. I would say it's worth going there to check out the dresses, They have some beautiful dresses, but you might need to make several follow up appointments to make sure the dresses are right for you. read more

Unless you are carrying around a 'high designer bag,' beware of judgement. I was in there yesterday and asked about a chair, the lady who helped me was so rude. Her attitude and vibe threw off negative energy. In addition to that, I might suggest that all of your employees should be cross-trained in all departments. This review is for BHLDN: they have a fantastic selection of wedding dresses, ranging from $500-3000. They carry the same dresses from the same designers for cheaper than you can find at bridal "boutiques." The downside is that their stylists aren't particularly helpful - they'll pull dresses that you request, but aren't especially knowledgeable. They can get crowded, so you're sharing the pedestals and mirrors with other girls at the same time. Also, the lighting in the salon isn't great either, no natural light and too dark to really see the details on dresses. Note that they are appointment only, and they tend to book up fast for weekend spots. read more

This Anthropologie location is HUGE. The downstairs level seems to go on and on, especially with the new addition of the shoe boutique and expanded dressing rooms. The sale room is usually hella picked over but you can still sometimes find good deals. Service is alright here, typical of a chain store. I love their clothes but usually don't think they're worth the regular price: I tend to only buy sale merchandise. You know how you go to your usual Anthropologie in a normal sized city, and find maybe five garments of everything there? Well, this is like your normal anthro, but on steroids! I walked in and was like in a wonderland of awesomeness. They had everything you'd normally find on the site - clothes, accessories, home wares, books, linens, you name it! Its a two story store, and its kind of surprising at how deep and twisting that place is! It just keeps going... and going.. and going.. and its definitely a place you want to spend some time at! read more

I had the best time here shopping for my wedding dress! My bridal assistant was fantastic. She started off asking about what I saw myself wearing. She asked which dresses called out to me and after that she also made a few suggestions. She walked us down to the BHLDN bridal suite and asked if we wanted anything to drink before pulling the dresses we talked about and setting up a room for me. I think I tried on seven dresses in total and loved each one more than the next. She was really great at accessorizing the simpler dresses with belts, veils, headpieces, etc. After each dress she would ask what I liked or didn't like to better understand what I was looking for. She knew about all the materials, other color options, sizing suggestions and so much more. She helped me in and out of each gown and got it all situated and clipped before I went out to show my group. The place was spotless and the dresses weren't destroyed like I've experienced in may other boutiques. I made my appointment for a Monday which was great because it wasn't crowded at all. I've heard it gets a bit crazy on weekends. I didn't feel pressured at all and I really felt like the comments from my attendant were sincere. I'm so happy to say that I found my wedding dress here and I will be ordering it this week with full confidence that it will be absolutely perfect! 5/5 stars! I'm considering making another appintment to look at bridesmaid dresses and rehearshal dinner options. read more

This Anthropologie still gets two stars in my book for my recent experience last Friday night. My friend and I stopped to check out wedding dresses and the employee who might have been working the BHLDN section was non stop gabbing with her friend the entire time. She did ask once or twice if we needed help and what we thought but I think she knew we (and another two or three customers) would say no. So yes, as has been echoed by others, service is horrible here. I don't expect much, but I don't expect you to be chatting up a friend the entire time! As for merchandise, I wasn't that impressed with the dresses. I guess I don't like lace as much and the materials weren't as luxurious and soft as I thought they would be for wedding dresses. I can't get enough of this store. Not only do I frequent Georgetown but I stop by at Tysons II whenever I get the chance. I LOVE the sale room!!! I've never had much luck buying their clothes online - as I'm curvy and really need to try each piece on... so when I walk into Anthro - I know I'm going to load up the sales ladies arms!!! Great store, every time I shop in Georgetown, the sale ladies are always helpful and approach me to help get a room started. They remember my name too!!! I guess it pays to work in such a great store. :) I want a jobbie there. read more
