If you're anywhere near the pantheon in Rome, this place is a must. Walk to the back of the deli sit in OpenTable if they have one. And be patient eventually the gentleman would ask what you'd like to drink. Your options will be water or wine respond accordingly he will bring out the beverages and again just sit and be patient. Eventually he will bring out the most amazing chary board you've ever had. I don't think there's any other options on the menu, so don't ask what your choices are for wine or what your choices are for food. Always is our first stop when arriving in Rome and knowing the food is great and we can take back to the hotel when we can't hold our eyes open!!! Less than $10 Eurs for dinner for two. Drinks not included. Always love to sit in the back with a big plate of fresh porchetta and a glass of wine. Nothing better. The staff has always been great and over our last four trips here we have either picked up food or eaten in the back at least 12 times. Highly recommend. Prices are very reasonable. I have been coming to Antica Salumeria near the Pantheon for years. I love that they give you samples of various cold cuts, cheeses, etc. They will vacuum seal for travel and that works perfectly for the long flight home. Loved this little shop by the Pantheon. Visited multiple times for late night takeaway. The charcuterie cheese plate was fresh and delicious. Mido provided great service with italian charm and a smile. The truffle cheese and prosciutto and honey with eucalipto were my favorites. My husband Federico said I had to buy a sandwich from here and that was the first thing I did when I landed in Rome for my birthday trip. Located in the plaza where the Pantheon is located you can expect a lot of people and for it to be very busy. However, the workers here are swift and have their jobs down pact and make sure to take care of you in a timely manner. I cannot even tell you what I ordered because I was overwhelmed by the amount of deliciousness in one place, I literally went with my family and said I want one of each and we all shared and tasted. We enjoyed them all. They are huge and very tasty. I was not feeling well when I went in here last night but wanted to check it out as I was walking past with my mother. My mother was joking with the staff, trying to speak Italian. We picked out a few products each. She paid first and they gave her a discount for their banter. Then the man walked away. The other employees stared at me, hands full, waiting to check out but I stood patiently. Finally another couple walked in and got some products and a woman working there totally ignored me waiting and helped the couple that came in after me. My mother had to ask the man that helped her to please ring me up as the other woman also ignored me. He acted like it was a chore and wouldn't even hand me my bag of goods. Unfortunately the service and attitude towards potential customers for a slow Tuesday evening was unexceptionable. After walking 30 minutes, asking for assistance and then to be ignored for close to 20 minutes while they rearranged packages of meat seems to take far greater precedence than serving customers. Right on the Piazza della Rotonda with the Pantheon. The staff is great and the selection is amazing. This magical place has some fantastic sandwiches. I had the Porchetta and was able to sample some great meats and cheese. There are a few tables in the back and a couple along the sides but the food is equally tasty sitting outside on the piazza and watching the people go by. They are open pretty late (midnight on most nights) so convenient for a quick snack or drink. They even have a small selection of pastries for your sweet tooth too. Yes this is is tourist centric area but the prices are more than fair and the food is pretty darn good. I was there at least a dozen times and the staff was always helpful. read more

This was our favorite late night place to go to when we were in Rome. My fiancé and I thought that the meat and cheese selections were to die for. This place also has a local feeling to it. It feels like all the locals go here to get their meat, cheeses, and wine. Our waiter was also super friendly and outgoing. This is totally the opposite of corporate America, retail shopping. It's a family-owned business with quality products. While most people get sandwiches here, I was here for the salume. One of the employees helped me select a salami with nice pattern. It came out to 16 euros. This was 4 times the price of a salami purchased from the grocery store, but you can definitely tell the difference. I felt like the older guy couldn't really explain much in English. This place is a hidden gem. I had to look this place up and check out the reviews on yelp because I had reviewed it on TripAdvisor probably 4 years ago. I still remember how good this place was. The charcuterie plate is sooo delicious. I normally don't like charcuterie but it had tasty spreads and other delicious cheeses and salamis. The restaurant in itself is very small and tight. We went a little after lunch time so we got a spot. They tried to even accommodate our sleeping toddler who was in a stroller. Located right by the Pantheon, I thought it would be crowded with gawking tourists, but it was just a nice steady flow of customers. We stopped by ahead of a bus trip to Pompei to get sandwiches for the road. Had them make up a nice variety, which the packaged up and helped me identify writing on the wrappers. 7 gigantic, fresh sandwiches were just 40 euro. We ended up cutting each into 4th so we could sample them all (so glad we did). The bread was excellent: crispy and slightly salty, in a good way, but soft enough for a good bite. The favorites were salami and the prosciutto with mozzarella. The mortadella was also good but has truffles in it, so it's pretty rich. The vegetarian was happy with her caprese sandwich. Very unique and fun place to look around, buy unique gifts but most of all, to have a lovely meal. Walked in the day before to ask if we needed to reserve and they said it would be best to do so. Easily done. Great wine, wonderful salamis and cheeses...my only quibble is that I would have loved an array of some accompaniments to make the meal complete. Some pickled things, beyond just olives, would have really brought the meal together, maybe some pastes, fun vinegars, a variety of breads. Something to tie it all in. No matter: even without such niceties, it was a unique experience and they couldn't have been more accommodating and kind to our kids. We shared a relaxing evening in a wonderfully atmospheric spot. After visiting the Pantheon, we spotted this place nearby. The store is filled with all sorts of goodies (olive oil, cured meats, cheeses, wine, cookies, fresh bread, pasta, panninis, olives, etc.). There is little seating in the back of the store, so you can get your grub on. Employees are sweet and helpful. My Italian is limited so I stuck to pointing at something and indicating how many I wanted with my fingers followed with a big smile :D Everything is super fresh here and made with quality ingredients.
